Part 2:

Follow the Creator in the Desert - Selected Excerpt from the Sources. #5

Reading Item 5 (00:17) Following the Creator in the Desert. “Each One by Mount Sinai...”

1. R. (00:34) This is what happened in that preparation called standing on Mount Sinai or by Mount Sinai and in each and everyone there is that same preparation where we are not talking about a physical event but rather a spiritual one, meaning this is how we are built that inside of us there is this preparation and we are ready to reach a correction through it.

2. S. (01:21) What does that feeling that the voice of the Creator speaks to me to the ten, who is it exactly?

R. That there is some beginning from which we start our emotion, our corrections, our development and as opposed to that there's a point we have to reach and to end the correction.

S. The closest I can imagine is when I discovered the Wisdom of Kabbalah and said I felt something like that but now I don’t understand what it means the ten in the connection between us. What does it mean to feel the voice of the Creator?

R. This is a phenomenon that is there, it exists. The more we learn the more questions the more doubts we have more more, why because that is a way of everything, you learn and you go deeper inside. Inside at one point you open up many more points, you know by these new telescopes that they are discovering that lately we set them outer space, so suddenly we see that the telescope turns to a certain place in space opens itself up and you see there that we had not just one point of stars, but billions of stars, another reality another world, truly and this is how it is everywhere. This means that all in all what we attain is that this matter is truly infinite, it is not that it’s our imagination or the weakness of our imagination, so that we say about the universe that it is infinite and it truly is. We can’t perceive it this way because the infinite is the Creator already to the extent that we can connect these two concepts then we will understand.

3. S. (04:11) What is the technology that we can use in order to actually observe that empty void and discover there what we need to discover, what is the powerful telescope that we can use?

R. It opens for us more of the resolution in space then we can see that wherever we had darkness previously or one star or a few, we see billions of stars. once you thought this was an empty space and there is nothing there and then we and we see a hundred billion stars, but there is a limit to that number and suddenly we look at some space we thought that was empty and we see even more over there, more stars and everything around them. It is like Baal HaSulam writes where is that written, that he is looking at the East and he saw there, I don't remember now, then he looks the west and he sees something.

S. In his prophecy?

R. Not sure, I don’t think so, but it doesn’t matter.

S. In the ten between us, what is that telescope, there is a point where I see darkness, let's say a lack of connection, and what device do I use to see like you said with the stars?

R. You use a device that opens up your sight.

S. What is that device between us in the ten?

R. Are you talking about spirituality?

S. Yes spirituality, forget about James Webb, okay there was a telescope that discovered billions of more galaxies that doesn't matter right now, what I'm trying to understand is how to use that example between us.

R. When we are in the world of Ein Sof we have infinite phenomena and all of these phenomena are reflections projections of what we incorporate inside us and inside us ultimately what happens is what we will discover in the future is, “Come and See” the Creator. And this will be complete attainment of reality in the future.

S. And what is the device that will sharpen our vision?

R. Adhesion.

S. What is the adhesion between who and whom?

R. Between us and the Creator to the extent that we will try to adhere between ourselves we will feel that in between us is the Creator the one unique and unified force that glues us together, this is how we discover it.

S. The telescope that you are describing does not work with lenses, it works with mirrors. There's a central point through which all the mirrors reflect light and then that central point absorbs all the discernments and it absorbs much more discernments than in the past. In our ten I am that central point let's say that absorbs all the discernments. What is the device that I can use in the ten absorbs all the discernments like the telescope absorbs all the discernments.

R. All you have is your will to receive, in your will to receive you perceive everyone, that is why it is written that every person is a small world.

S. How do I increase the resolution the depth that will to receive perceives?

R. By love, by connection, by coming closer.

S. What will further sharpen my mirrors or increase my mirrors and make them more accurate and precise and detailed?

R. To the extent that you will want to adhere to everyone and you'll feel them more and they will be closer to you until you connect as one man and one heart.

4. S. (09:55) About the voice of the Creator, is the voice of the Creator part of the fear of the Creator? What’s the connection between the two?

R. You may say that to the extent that I have fear of the Creator, I can hear the voice of the Creator.

S. In the context of the telescope that we discussed, does every friend serve as a mirror that reflects the light of the Creator towards me?

R. Exactly.

5. S. (10:47) I wanted to ask in relation to the discernment that we call desert. I noticed in the last few days that you reiterated that the desert is when we don't have the Creator there, when we can exert in connection with what’s missing is the Creator.

R. I don't know. There is a verse, to follow me in the desert, we have to find Him there.

S. So that's the contradiction that I have. If we are following Him in the desert, if we need to achieve a prayer in the desert, then what exactly is the desert about?

R. It is when on the one hand, there is no Creator there or life there life at all. On the other hand, following Him in the desert we find Him, through the desert we come to a place where there are plans.

S. But what does it mean, that there is no Creator in the desert?

R. There is no life, there is nothing to give life to a person.

S. But how can something happen without the help of the Creator?

R. Well clearly this too happens with the Creator’s help.

S. Where is then our work because ultimately our work is done by the Creator?

R. You need to find in the desert in a place where there are no plants, where it's dry, there is no drop of water and you walk and there is no end on your path and you don’t even know if you are walking in the right direction, and the way that you walk and look for the Creator, this way, this is how you, if you're looking for Him, you will find him.

S. In the desert we…

R. In the desert you find a specific direction in which to reach the Creator.

S. But when we enter the desert, we enter it with a goal of finding the Creator?

R. This is scrutinized slowly, gradually.

6. S. (13:33) About the topic of revelation by the means of vast distances, is that when we make efforts to connect and the Creator shows us the endlessness of the will to receive, is that the reason for these revelations?

R. Yes of course this is a result of that.

S. We are supposed to direct the efforts towards connection more internally, more connections, so that we will adhere to the Creator and not just see an endless picture that is unattainable?

R. Yes, I must be with all the friends in the heart, truly in my heart, this is how it will be felt.

7. S. (14:38) My concept of the universe is that of matter, and spirituality is above that. Is that like matter was created and it’s finite and spirituality is infinite?

R. So what is your question: that matter is finite, the distances are infinite because these are two measurements that are about the attainment of the Creator: the matter comes from the created beings side and the distances come from the Creator, yes.

S. Okay, I'm having trouble grasping that concept. If I work to go to the end of the universe, I envision that I would not be able to move. At some point my spaceship would be locked, it couldn't go any further because the universe is finite in my mind.

R. No, you would see that what happens in the universe is actually happening inside of you, and there is nothing outside of you and everything is in your perception. And even what you are imagining to exist like human beings, the universe, the boundary, the distances, everything is only your internal phenomena. It actually does not exist except for what is depicted inside you.

8. S. (16:45) The discussion that was started about the desert, you said that there is no life there in the desert. We find a specific direction there, to find the Creator but there's nothing there. So how can we, so what is this desert that helps us find the Creator? If nothing is there, there's no life there, so what is the meaning of the desert?

R. We are walking in the desert, that means we do not see anything in our lives that may fill us, contain us. Ultimately, this is what we come to. I don't want to scare you, but this is how we are advancing towards the Creator and this is the meaning of the verse, ‘follow me in the desert, in the dry land.’ And when we walk this way, ready for anything, only to reach the Creator, adhesion with the Creator, truly in the middle of the desert, to be in adhesion with the Creator, then we reach adhesion. This is the real adhesion, when there is nothing besides the Creator, when we negate everything that exists; only the Creator is what we need.

S. So what do we really connect to if there's nothing there?

R. We connect between ourselves to one desire and from it to the One Creator.

S. That's not understood because there is nothing there, there's void, there's no life, what can we connect to?

R. Life is actually inside, in the connection between us and with the Creator.

S. But how can we, if there's nothing there, how can we connect between us?

R. I don't understand that.

S. How can we connect between us if there's nothing there?

R. We are in the desert. By us holding each other we are going to look for the Creator. To the extent that we connect between ourselves, we feel, we discover that the Creator is inside the connection between us, and except for that everything is empty it's a desert.

S. So the only thing that is there are the friends?

R. The friends and the Creator in the friends.

S. So the work is only there to connect to the friends, we have nothing else, with the help of the Creator?

R. Yes.

S. So that’s the work in the desert?

R. Yes.

9. S. (20:33) We reach this mountain after two years of Covid, and this seems bigger. How can we clarify this mountain, and then the voice, how can we recognize the Creator's voice?

Translator: He says we come to the desert after two years of Covid. How in the desert can we identify the voice of the Creator through the friends?

R. If we are capable to connect in the desert, then in the connection we find the Creator. That is how it works, meaning, our connection is like an instrument, a detector to discover the Creator. That's why follow Me in the desert means look for Me, search for Me in the desert. I'm in a different place, you won't find Me but when you go out to the desert and you'll be able to connect and in the connection you will find Me.

Reading Item #6 (22:50) “One must believe in private providence..”

10. S. (24:45) In relation to the previous item, can we understand from it that the Creator is the existence in relation to the lack of existence but in the desert, and then nothing else can be revealed?

R. Yes, specifically if a person cleanses himself from all the other things in the world and seemingly goes out to space, to the desert, where he wants nothing but to discover the inner force in nature. Only that is what he lacks, then he finds the Creator there. It's impossible to discover the Creator if not in the desert. Clear?

11. S. (26:00) You said that all we are missing is to not be filled with anything but the Creator, and the Creator in the meantime gives us some small fulfillments every day. What does this lack of the Creator depend on so that we don't fall and succumb to these small fulfillments that come and go?

R. Only if we hold on to each other, there is nothing else. Imagine to yourself that you're in the desert and besides your small group there is nothing. But there is no leader of the group telling you that if you hold on to each other you may cross this desert, and come to that oasis. If you don't hold on to each other you will die in the desert, you will not reach this oasis, that's all.

S. In the coming Congress, we will all come together, women from all countries that we haven't met for a while and it's important for us to connect to them. How to create this deficiency towards the Creator between us?

R. You should already think about it, write to each other, gather together. Already, now you have to gather and solve these problems, there's not a lot of time.

S. What is the criterion for lacking the Creator? How should we help each other by raising his importance?

R. Lacking the Creator, when you don't even know what you're doing, why you exist, who gives you life, what is being done with you. You don't understand anything, you have to discover all of that. That's only possible in the connection between you.

12. S. (28:53) Recently, I saw a conversation where you talked about someone who bought a diamond and put the diamond in the thief's pocket and now we're saying that the Creator is in the friends. Why did the Creator hide himself in the place where I don't want to look?

R. So that you will look against your desire.

S. So that I can't steal it for myself?

R. Listen to what I said, what did I say?

S. To search against my desire.

R. That's all, so don't add to that anything.

13. S. (29:43) According to the last excerpt, before they call I will answer, it implies that I am completely managed, governed, whether I feel it or not: is that correct?

R. Yes, it's correct

14. S. (30:30) How do you find this guiding star in the desert?

R. In the desert we actually see all the stars and also the Northern Star. When we feel that there is no other force besides the Creator, that's actually revealed in the desert and then we follow Him?

15. S. (31:10) I'll ask about the example of space we discussed. Let's say we're building some spaceship together, coming out of this planet everything's okay but the more you see the planet moving away from you and your advancing towards the darkness in space there's the inner fear that grows. When we get to such a point, how is it possible not to be afraid and not to turn back?

R. This is a story out of the books, how not to be afraid? By holding along with your friends, you know that in this space there's a special force sustaining the space that's called The Creator. And then you have an opportunity to actually let go of everything and to grab on to the Creator

16. S. (32:17) From what has been said about going to the desert, it seems to me like aren't we in the desert, everyday in the desert, in the morning we come here and we leave everything behind, we don't focus on anything corporeal, we only focus on the friends, our connection and the voice of the Creator talks to us everyday through the lessons, through you: is this correct?

R. Yes.

17. S. (32:50) If we hold on to the Creator through the connection, does the connection suffer from it, becomes something random, we need to get used to it?

R. No, if you hold on to the connection everything will be good.

18. S. (33:30) You said that one must feel all the friends in the heart: what does it mean what do we need to feel?

R. All the friends being real close to you, closer than you are to yourself.

S. What they're inclinations?

R. Everything, all the friends are in the heart. This means that I feel them closer than I feel myself.

S. My friends in the ten or the entire Kli?

R. In the ten.

S. Is that the goal of the coming Congress?

R. It's the goal of our life and the Congress here has nothing to do with it. Without a congress, with a congress, we have to do that, that's how Rabash writes.

19. S. (34:40) When you hear the voice of the Creator, it's like there's a point where you feel you came to the right place and you're on the right track but how to not fall asleep? How to continue the effort in connection?

R. That too is by the friends.

S. But if you’re like this, sleeping, your desire disappears.

R. If you are connected to them you are getting their desires and impulses.

S. What do I do with that: how do I work, the work of the person?

R. Connect to them in order to help them.

S. It's not so clear, how do I help them?

R. By wanting to connect to them in order to help them.

20. S. (35:48) On one hand, in the Arava Convention I look at the friends, they sing, they hug, they're connected, and on the other hand, I look for where is my connection to them: is that my desert?

R. Yes.

S. And from not being connected to them that's the prayer that should accompany me until I find the connection to the Creator?

R. Yes.

21. S. (36:22) What do we need to attain in this upcoming Congress that we haven't attained in the previous Congress in the desert?

R. Connection, there is nothing else to look, for such a connection that in it the Creator will be felt, that He sustains the connection, He is the connection, He designs the connection, that's how we have to feel it. Him with us.

S. What does it mean to attain the Shechina within us?

R. ‘Shechina within us’ means the reality of the Creator that fulfills us.

22. S. (37:28) Last night we had a small meal in our ten and everything was pleasant, there was food, everything was cool, and then one of the friends mentioned the exercise you suggested to scrutinize if we feel that the Creator is between us right now. And there was a second that there was a feeling that there is no Creator, there's a connection, there's food, everything is cool but there is no Creator? The truth is I didn’t know what I should do, it filled me with an unpleasant feeling of sorrow.

R. Why, you have discovered the true place, the truth that there is no Creator, that in this new resolution that you are in yesterday there is no Creator, yes. This is like, you know, we talked about the same telescope example, or anything that where you're looking at a new space, new area let's say, you don't see anything in the skies and then you zoom in more and more, and then you find that there's entire galaxies there, it's not only planets but billions and billions of planets.

S. At this point when there is the clear feeling that there's no Creator, there was a feeling of a desert there, it was short but there was this feeling. What do we do now, what's the next step?

R. It's an excellent state, it indicates to you where you are and where you need to go, that that place will be completely filled with the presence of the Creator.

S. What's the works we should do?

R. Yes what you need to do between you in the relation to each other from the love of the created beings to the love of the Creator. That the more you work on the connection between you now, by that you'll discover the Creator. The Creator Himself is not present, we need to make Him, you've heard that verse, “you have made Me”?

S. This is exactly the point that what's not clear is what is “you have made Me”, what should we make?

R. We are talking about our will to receive, that we are shaping it, sorting it, organizing it in a way that we sense that the upper force in it, the Creator, we calibrate it. That calibration that we do is towards the friends and another friend and another friend until we connect all the friends together into a single line so they are all aligned in my eyes, in my view and then I see the Creator.

S. How am I capable of doing this in zoom-in in the ten, on this friend, that friend so they're all in one line, as you said?

R. You want to feel him fulfilling your heart.

23. S. (41:18) I'd like to ask about the excitement: we've been through many congresses together and every time there was connection, there was effort, preparation, it was an event that gave us strength even. But we went through many such events, where do you take the strength to be excited before a Congress every time anew? What ignites you exist this is the first Congress or the last Congress, where do we find this concentration of strength to have this excitement towards this event?

R. I understand you and I think that you only need to understand what we now discussed, that if we want to feel the friends that they are all like in a zoom they become one they get closer until they become one. You know it used to be that way with the old photographic machines, that you bring those two forms, not lenses, lenses is already a different thing. So you bring those shapes closer until they become one and that means that you're seeing it correctly, so that's what we should see. What does it mean to see it correctly: in the will to receive and in the will to bestow, and in any connection between them I see them as one. Meaning I no longer exist there rather I am photographing the truth and that's how we reach the Creator.

S. We are trying to relate to every morning lesson as if it's a Congress, there's the friends, the world Kli, we're studying in The Zohar. We have all the data, all the efforts to make a prayer out of it and to make efforts to connect, now there's some pin on a map in the end of February and I have to create some special excitement. I don't understand where do I collect the strength to that place?

R. It's not there it's in to your heart, in to your heart, what does it matter over there? You're preparing your heart to be moved by the connection between everyone and you hope that the connection between everyone can influence your heart, your stony heart, so that finally you will find in it some point of life, and you'll cling to it and thus you’ll excite it so that it will find new life there. Don't go backwards only forwards, meaning it doesn't matter whatever happened before, but what will happen. We will have a connection of a new kind where we reveal the Creator and we cling to Him, adhere to Him.

24. S. (45:27) We know that walking in the desert is a kind of correction, is that correct?

R. Go ahead, go ahead.

S. All the time I hear connection, connection between the friends, how do we reach connection, what is connection, to give them a chair is that connection? To bring a mattress, like you said yesterday, is that called connection or is there something beyond that. Maybe that you want to open a little bit?

R. We are built in such a way that if I am thrown somewhere and I have nothing besides a few dozen friends around me, and above us just wind and sand and we have nowhere to run, then we like camels get closer to each other and we become like some sort of single body, and in such a way we lie down and that's what saves us and lets us just go through the storm in the desert and that's it. And if we realize that specifically this way, we can be saved from the storm then we will defeat it, ‘follow me in the desert’.

S. I want to ask you about the connection, we’re talking about love, ‘love your friend as yourself’ and all this story, how do you reach it? Meaning the connection between us has to reach some love between us, right?

R. Yes.

S. How do you reach this love we call connection, that's what I'm asking you all the time?

R. Until it comes from the Creator we can't do anything, we have to ask, we have to ask for it to happen.

S. That's it exactly, what should happen, you're talking about ‘ask to happen’, what should happen so that will have a connection, what should happen between us?

R. That I feel the hearts of the friends in my heart as one, I don't look at their faces, their characters, I'm looking at the point in the heart, their yearning for the Creator and so do I. And if we connect that together, we reveal the Creator and He fulfills for us what we have built from our points in the heart, that's it.

25. S. (48:50) We know the Congress is actually a result of all the preparations we did before the Congress, and in our ten we decided we're going down to the desert as a preparation for the Congress in twenty days and to perform an action of connection in tents and mattresses to have an inner preparation having nothing to do with external action. We see the other tens are also preparing, taking duties in the Congress, preparing themselves. And we see that from Friday people came over from all over Israel, this Hall is packed from the South and North, and the question is how do we take all this yearning put it in my heart and raise it to the Creator, what is this action raising all these yearnings to the Creator?

R. This is a matter of the work of the heart, I cannot explain because we will never have enough words here. But we should try to pass it from one to the other, from heart to heart, not through the mouth even but from heart to heart, try. I don't think that the fact that you're going today to the desert for 2 days as some kind of preparation for our convention that will be in about a month, correct, three weeks, yes? I don't think that it's actually good, it can then reduce the flavor or give you some sort of false confidence; I don't think so but try it, there's none as wise as the experience.

S. How to perform this action in a way that, well we're at least in our feeling, we're coming to this seemingly external action to come closer in the hearts, between us, so how to make it in a way that it's not mistaken so it will be in a good direction?

R. I don't know, I don't know but to go to the same place you are taking away some innovation from your feelings, I wouldn't do it. But again look into it and check and tell us about it later.

26. S. (51:46) When the previous student described the situation where he was looking for the Creator after the effort in the ten and he felt it was missing, it was painful. How can we translate this pain to an action that will yield the right result?

R. This is called ‘one shall help his friend’, you have to reach a state where we're trying to really care for the hearts of the friends; I'm not thinking about feeling something, I'm concerned about my friend, that he will feel, this is the issue and that's actually a good sign that we're talking about this. We have to achieve a state where I am concerned about the friends’ concern, that they will connect, that they will feel, that's what I am worried about.

S. I'm worried when I hear the previous student because when he has pain so I have pain that he has pain.

R. You enter his heart and in his heart you want to plant those feelings that he lacks, as he says, so you're planting in his heart the feelings that he says he lacks.

S. I'll say by my side, that I feel now that I'm not doing something and it really scares me because as you're saying it's in my hands and it's not the first time that I can feel that a friend has a lack and you can't seem to break through so that they will have it, what should I do?

R. To pray that you have an opportunity to enter the friend's heart or all of the friends, and plant there love, connection, yearning, urgency, all that is missing for the complete connection.

27. S. (55:02) To continue this scrutiny: we need to be in these two extreme states, on the one hand to reach an outcry, a prayer, on the other hand to also be in gladness and gratitude. How to maintain the state correctly and to reach the desired result?

R. On the one hand, we truly lack that and on the other hand, we are happy that we do lack that because there's nothing more, how to say it, you know like the verse goes “there's nothing more than the broken heart”, meaning that we're happy that we have a broken heart and we really want to enter the friend's heart and really plant there all sorts of forms of love that will grow from that. And that's with regards to everyone's hearts and then see there before us everything filled with crops or flowers and that's what we want, that each one is like a tree. So he should bear fruit, that's what we are facing.

S. The state is the desert is also as help, it gives us an opportunity to disconnect from everything that disturbs, so the kind of disturbance that we can be stuck with, is what disturbance could there be there because we are disconnecting from everything that's outside?

R. No the disturbance is a personal one, it’s that my evil inclination doesn't let me, doesn't allow me to break free, it's like the worm that lives inside the apple.

28. S. (57:48) Tonight the Eastern European group is meeting and is preparing for the Arava and we are going to talk about acting the next state so how to act before the friend so that we don't push them away but rather they'll believe the next state and we'll go into it together?

R. You don't need to play, you just need to live in that, I want my friends to feel in their hearts my participation.

29. S. (58:36) When we say we are in the Arava, this is what we'll do, so every workshop how will we do that in the Arava of us? So what, should we do it now, it says if we are delaying it, as if we're saying for the next twenty days we will not attain spirituality.

R. Yes you're right on the one hand but on the other hand we nevertheless have to prepare and sometimes the preparation is more important.

S. Excuse me, maybe we should change the way we phrase things?

R. I understand you, you're right, change the phrasing.

30. S. (59:39) Relates to connections and Arvut, is that an alignment of indent in Arvut which shapes all of our connections to benefit every single friend equally in the ten?

R. Yes.

31. S. (01:00:12) Tell us please can one of your students turn to you like a friend?

R. Like a friend, no, but like a teacher yes, a friend is one with whom you are in a collaborative motion towards connection between you.

32. S. (01:00:52) We feel the importance of the role of the woman and in that relation, what is the preparation the women should do towards the entrance to the spiritual desert?

R. I think it's basically the same preparation as the men, and as much as I can feel and what I know, women are quite busy preparing themselves. Let's hope that through our effort during the Convention we will all connect together and truly feel that we are ‘as one man with one heart’, that includes all the women.

S. You said that we don't have a lot of time that we need to expand or to be more in connection between us.

R. Yes.

S. If you have what to add to that?

R. No I can't find right now exactly the words for it but we'll have to search and find it, you're right.

33. S. (01:02:26) How to come to a state of the desert where in the ten you feel connection and love?

R. That's very good, you don’t need anything more than that, you don't need to long for the feeling of the desert, you need to feel love, connection, that's true.

34. S. (01:03:01) Can we say that the preparation is the correction for the Congress and the Congress will be the realization, that's what the preparation is so important?

R. Yes that's exactly right, exactly right.

35. S. (01:03:26) I don't have a problem with my connection with my friends, I do everything I can in order to work, my problem is in my connection to the Creator. I start crying, I feel I'm praying all the time but I feel I'm not successful, why do I feel this state?

R. You have a lack of connection with the friends, I think, try to further connect with them until you find joy.

36. S. (01:04:19) The text says that “the Creator calls man”, why does the Creator call this person rather than others, what is He expect of him?

R. To each and every person the Creator awakens and relates to him in a unique way that is specific to that person in order to bring that person closer in the shortest matter to the final Correction. So we can't compare, we also don't have any possibility to compare, we don't know the depths of the soul of each and everyone and therefore we cannot compare the path of one to the path of another.

37. S. (01:05:40) Before the corona, we used to sing a lot together, each one would add his voice into the singing and when we started watching in our squares, we were more looking at the songs rather than taking part. Now we have an opportunity to be thousands of people, to sing together, what is the strength in this common singing.

R. Very important but we need someone to organize it, so please!

S. Okay so I'll organize it, first of all I'd like to invite all the friends, women and men, go into the website and there you will find two playlists you can listen to. Press on the music and one of them is songs we sing in the lessons, we are going to have a group there will play together. And the other plays this ‘acapella’, without the band only the words, the lyrics and people singing. You can really be moved by it, sing together and it's from all the places we have been together. It’s an opportunity to pray and to be together. So let's sing together the quote we just heard, let's sing all together!
