Baal HaSulam. "Study of the Ten Sefirot" (TES). Vol. 1. Part 1. Table of Answers for Topics #67

1.Rav’s Introduction: Yes let us continue.

Question 67 page 30

1. R. (00:39) Yes. Following the restriction, the first restriction that is, does anything change in Ein Sof? Does the first restriction influence Ein Sof?

Answer (00:54)

2. R. (02:11) Meaning in spirituality there is no such thing that something changes, but rather it always comes with an additional form to the form that was there before. And these are all the changes that exist in spirituality, and additional forms and additional forms and additional changes. And they all clothe over the first point in Ein Sof. And in this way all of these changes that are revealed, all in all they reveal what we have in that point in Ein Sof, until all of the forms will be revealed and they will all join and all of them will then show us what we had in that Central Point in Ein Sof. Well if there are no questions.

3. S. (03:08)  Relative to us, to our state, our changing states?

R. Also, they are all added up. All of our states are also innovated and they accumulate one over the other, one over the other as if they are clothing on each other with new garments. And all in all, all of these garments eventually come in order to clarify for us the original thing, what was there originally.

S. How nevertheless to bring ourselves back to this root each time without connection to the disparity of form?

R. This is all of our work. We need to realize always that our source is the good who does good, and all of the forms that He now reveals to us in clothing of each form over the previous one, more and more even though we go through all of these forms, we need to relate to their source. That is only the good who does good and there is None Else Besides Him, and it is the same Creator even though all of the changes might confuse us. And they could bring us all kinds of different emotions and different impressions we nevertheless talk about it that in each one of them exists the Creator who is operating everything. He alone operates everything and He is good and does good. And if we are not capable right now maybe of discovering it and feeling it, it is because we have work before us through all of these garments, these concealments to nevertheless discover Him as the good who does good.

S. We say that these forms of the Creator that are revealed to us seemingly do not change. We say that only the desire of the creature changes. In that case how do I understand that the Creator always starts the action, is always the first?

R. Everything starts from the upper light. It is constantly operating non-stop. This is considered renewing each and every day, the act of Bereshit, Genesis, creation. And we just have to try to discover that all of these innovations, all come from Him, and it is all only to our benefit. And they reveal his attitude of good and does good.

S. Even in the excerpt he writes that all the actions, even the rejection of the light it is all accumulated one on top of the other. If in the ten we wish to perform a certain action what happens at our expense and what at the expense of the Creator?

R. No, we don't do anything besides trying to locate all of the actions that go through us, that they are all coming from There Is None Else Besides Him, the good who does good. This is the only thing that we need to detect. So there are two things: There is None Else Besides Him, there is a single source and He is a good that does good.

4. S. (07:12) It is not clear. How can you add something to  Ein Sof?

R. We did not yet learn all of the discernments that we have an  Ein Sof. We say Ein Sof, no end,  infinity because everything that occurs to us comes from Him. And all of the forms that we receive they all unite in Him. This is why we call that state Ein Sof. It is not Ein Sof, infinity in terms of distance. It is Ein Sof in terms that all of the forms, numerous forms, they all exist in Him and from Him there is only the feeling of love and unlimited goodness. Ein Sof is in relation to us in the good relation to us. That is called Ein Sof.

S. I didn’t get it. Baal HaSulam writes that this Ein Sof, another form was added. So if the forms are infinite how can you add one more thing to it?

R. Because all of these forms are revealed towards the created being who is limited, and as much as there are innovations, new things in the created being they all come from the Creator as well. This is why we say that certainly there are innovations, and all of the changes, the innovations come only from the Creator. And at the same time he is Ein Sof because His attitude towards us is infinite, there is no end to the goodness that He wants to give us. So it is all according to the limitation of the vessels on our side.

5. S. (09:31) You said our work is two things: to discover that there is None Else Besides Him and that He is the good who does good, only those two forms. That there is None Else Besides Him we might be able to prove but the good who does good, I do not have the vessels to say that. So what is the work, to find the vessels that we will discover that he is the good who does good?

R. To the extent that we want to take upon ourselves the form of good who does good and that there is None Else Besides Him we discover that this is how He is. You limit your will to receive if you give it such a form of the good who does good and there is None Else Besides Him and to that extent you will start to discover the Creator.

S. What does it mean to restrict my will to receive?

R. Do it over the will to receive of course, with the will to receive.

S. So what does it mean to restrict it, limit it?

R. I do not understand what you are asking.

S. You said to restrict the will to receive and then you'll discover that He is good who does good.

R. Give your will to receive a form so that it also wants to work as good that does good, and besides this form of good that does good there is None Else Besides Him.

S. How can the will to receive work as the good who does good?

R. That whatever it now feels from the Creator it just wants to discover the good who does good, equivalence of form.

S. What does it mean that he wants to reveal it but he can’t? He’s opposite.  What does it mean that he wants to do it?

R. No one is telling you that you have to invert yourself and become the Creator but rather you need to learn from Him how to perform such actions.

S. So this is the question. What am I learning, what kind of actions?

R. You are learning about the acts of bestowal and you want to be in that. And in those you want to resemble the Creator, make your will as his will. And through these efforts, when you try to be like Him, by this you begin to feel Him according to the law of equivalence of form.

6. S. (12:11) We restrict, limit the will to receive by growing it, by increasing it?

R. We do not think about all of these things besides resembling the Creator. Do as you understand that He operates. You should also perform such actions. Then you will start to gradually feel Him inside of your actions according to equivalence of form. Even in our world when you look at someone and you don't understand him, do something that is similar to him and you will start to feel him.

S. Let's just say for newer friends, I am new and I have this question. How to minimize the desire, diminish it?

R. You don’t have to do that, no. You don’t need to diminish your desire. No one is saying that you have to do that. You just need to make a similar to the Creator. Not to diminish it, not to restrict it, but to resemble the Creator. And if in that it is necessary to some extent to restrict it, the will to receive, then you will see it.

S. Each time it turns out that equivalence..

R. Sir, you should perform all kinds of actions and out of them you will learn what to do. The questions are infinite. You are asking question, question, question, that is clear, because this is how it is with all the beginners but start to learn from what you do.

7. S. (14:27) What is the meaning of discerning a new world?

R. Discerning a new world means to discern our new degrees which we acquire from  equivalence of form with Creator, that He is good and doing good. He is bestowing and we also want to resemble Him in that, and then we determine between us such actions, bit by bit, gradually, and out of that we learn. So what does it mean to be in the place of the Creator, to resemble him?

8. S. (15:24) What is the difference between form and intention?

R. Form is the form of the will to receive, intention is an intention over the will to receive. How do you use the will receive?

S. It sounds the same.

R. Entirely not. A form and and intention are not the same thing. Think about it more.

S. It looks like Baal HaSulam is highlighting this rule that there are no opposites in spirituality. Why? What is so special to know about it, to get from it? He repeats it several places very conclusively.

R. This is one of the rules that there is no absence in the spiritual. Meaning that the Creator is good who does good and there is None Else Besides Him. And this attitude of His towards us remains in existence and is always in all of his actions, and we in all of our responses need to relate to him only in that way that He is good who does good and there is None Else Besides Him. Otherwise we will become confused. A person can turn to the Creator in 1000 different forms and instead of one Creator you will have thousands of images. And also the good who does good depends on the relation upon what does one speak. There is None Else Besides Him this is clear, and good who does good this is according to the equivalence of form. It’s not according to equivalence of form that you are bringing in here psychology and religion and whatnot.

9. S. (17:25) When a new form appears the previous aspect seemingly becomes concealed and becomes the source, the origin?

R. It’s one over the other, one over the other. This is how we attain, and also in our life this is how it is. What I now realize and understand comes out of the fact that I had something before and I advanced and reached the present state, that's it.

S. The previous state, does it continue to influence the next state?

R. Yes. It exists and it is operating, and this is why you attain what you have now.

10. S. (18:29) None Else Besides Him, the good who does good and all the actions we need to come to learn, do we need to determine that it is good that does good or investigate it, prove it like in Geometry, you have to find it?

R. We have to reach it, feel it, understand it, become united with it and resemble it.

S. What is the starting point?

R. The initial point is when I do not discover that He is a good who does good and there is None Else Beside Him. Rather I am searching because Kabbalists tell me that this is how I need to find my source, my origin. That He is good who does good and He is one, unique and unified and there is None Else Besides Him. This is why I I calibrate myself, I direct myself, arrange myself such in order to find the Creator like that.

S. My guess is through annulment?

R. Also through the annulment, certainly. So let us continue.

Item 68 (19:51)

11. R. (20:42) Meaning to the extent that Phase 4 feels that she remains without the abundance, without feeling, without light, to that extent she feels her coarseness. She feels their concealment that is upon her.

12. S. (21:10) What does it mean that you can determine a degree of coarseness? In general we can notice it, but only when we reject the light.

R. How is the coarseness revealed in the vessel? It is revealed out of the fact that the light shines and there is a desire to receive this light as it is. fully. And there is a decision in the desire to stop the light and not to receive it, to reject it and to enter equivalence of form with it so that I receive from the host only to the extent that I can give back to the host. Then according to that I discover what state I have with Him. And then the darkness and the light are revealed in the relations between us; equivalence of form, coarseness that I have and the greatness of the host in my eyes and all the relations that we have in ten Sefirot between Malchut and Keter.

S. So the coarseness is always specifically the relationship between the Creator and the Creator being?

R. The coarseness is the feeling of the difference from the Creator that is felt inside of the created being. That if the Creator would not reveal himself as good and doing good that we would feel in our desire, then the coarseness within us would not be felt.

S. Many times when we learn we show that above coarseness on a certain level there is a spiritual action. How do Kabbalists..?

R. With relations, according to the relations. Let's say you are visiting someone and he wants to give you something. You feel that you are receiving and how much you want to receive and how much he wants to give, and is it worthwhile? Yes, no, yes, no. All of these relations you measure them and then you decide. Is it worthwhile to receive or not worthwhile to receive? In what form, what will it give me, what will it give him, etcetera and what will I achieve by that? These are all the calculations between the giver and the receiver, this is the entire wisdom of Kabbalah. The wisdom of Kabbalah, reception. How to receive correctly from the Creator who wants to give.

S. How to measure it?

R. It is all measured in you, in your will to receive. As much as you have shame, as much as you want to rise above it, above that feeling and how much you make calculations related to Him, in order to bestow to Him. Not just to just cover your egoistic desire even though you very much want to receive and fulfill your ego, your desire, but you raise the importance of the giver. Then you want to give Him, not to receive. And it is not because you are ashamed but rather because you want to honor Him, to be like Him and so on. There are many calculations here. This is all of our work with the Creator.

S. As far as I understand I incorporate with the friends and somewhere I remember the Creator. Where is the additional coarseness?

R. It is as I told you, everything is revealed in the relations that you have with the friends. And those relations you draw them, you extend them to be between you and the Creator, truly so.

S. So that is my question: where in this work does the coarseness appear, a certain measurement of it?

R. You should start to check, to sort the relations between you and someone who is close to you, let’s say your wife. So you will see there are many nuances there, like this, like that. And it is the same thing, even much more that we have between us and the Creator, between us and the friends. It is much more than we have in our primitive world.

S. Forgive me for insisting. Let us say I feel a certain resistance towards connection with the friends. Where can I reveal the four phases of coarseness, in what?

R. No. no. You cannot do that yet you are not capable of it. Distinguishing, dividing, rating the four phases in your will to receive relative to your connection with a friend and also with the Creator, you cannot do it yet. You might say this is more, this is less, this is more important, this is less important but it all depends on your state. That these are not true measurements but rather incidental ones depending on your mood and where you are. And this is how it is with you and the friends, everything changes from one moment to the next. We will talk more about that.

13. S. (27:56) When we ask for something, we pray it comes from the Creator, does it come from a certain critique relative to the Creator meaning he did something, complete something it puts things where they need to be how to find that?

R. If you try to connect yourself with the friends and with the Creator and with reception and with giving and believe me that besides that there is nothing more. All the rest is just an empty place so try to determine your relations in such a way; through the friends to the Creator, how do you do it.

Reading item 69 Twice (29:05 - 32:09)

14. R. It is not simple what is written. Here it is written in a very concise manner and very compact. As much as possible we will scrutinize it and as much as we can we will move on. We will touch it many times each time but let us start with them.

15. S. (32:35) Can I ask following the friend about the coarseness and how it is related to the ten. Can you say that the degree of coarseness that is revealed is tied to the quality and the quantity of the hate that is revealed in the ten and accordingly the ascent?

R. No that is represented through the connection with the source. No, no, regarding the discernment, the spiritual discernment we talk about them only following the restriction. If you make a restriction and after the restriction you measure your relations to others then you can talk about spiritual discernment but if you did not make a restriction if you still exist in a rejection and hatred that actually work on you then it is not yet spiritual it is still corporeal.

16. S. (34:06) The shame exists before or after the Masach?

R. Shame exists before one puts on a screen. The shame is the reason for one wanting to acquire the screen and to work only behind the screen.

17. S. (34:44) What does it mean that the light of Ein Sof stopped Illuminating by the screen in phase four?

R. What does it say there?

S. He is talking about the previous paragraph. Paragraph 68 “from the lights that came from Ein Sof and the screen attained it from shining phase four and the coarseness in her became apparent because she remains without light.” So, from KabU “what does it mean that the light of Ein Sof stops shining because of the screen in phase four?”

R. Because in phase four there is a decision that he is not going to receive because she has a will to receive an order to receive. This is where the great will receive is revealed but more importantly the intention in order to receive which wasn't there before becomes awakened and is felt in the vessel, this is why there the vessel, the will to receive stops receiving, performs a restriction.

18. S. (36:04) In the beginning there is no screen so where does it come from, when is it elicited?

R. The screen comes from out of a decision in the will to receive that it does not want to separate from the light, from the Creator but rather it wants to be adhered to the Creator through the light even though it will stop being connected to the fulfillment and therefore there instead of the light that appears in phase four it became darkness and restriction.

19. S. (36:45) Can we say that our current form is for the sake of myself and I'm trying to change it for the sake of the Creator? If so, what is the difference between form and intention?

R. For us it is not yet clear what is form and what is intention that is true and we are truly still not under restriction not with the ability to perform a restriction to rise above it and this is why we are in darkness.

20. S. (37:17) What is the relation between shame and the screen?

R. The shame gives birth to the screen. It is the reason for the screen. If the creative being did not feel shame, meaning did not feel the gap between himself in the Giver then he would never feel that he needs a screen. He would not perform a restriction. Shame is its own creation; it is a feeling in the will to receive that the Creator created deliberately to give the creative being the ability to begin its work. So it start working from within itself. Anyone who does not feel shame cannot work in spirituality and our entire spiritual work depends on the feeling of shame. That is what separates us from the animals. Animals do not feel shame. Everything works in them according to instinct. With us the more we move away from the animate degree to the speaking degree the shame grows and it has nothing to do with a person's intellect or his virtues he could be a large person, generous, who gives, close to others no that is irrelevant. The feeling of shame is a very special feeling that brings a person, well spiritual shame not a physical one, it brings a person to that degree of the receiver, Kabbalist. He feels that he is a receiver, he does not want to agree with it and he works only to escape this feeling. Later he turns it not in order to not feel the shame of receiving but in order to benefit the Creator.

21. S. (40:05) In the first and second expansion when we refused to receive, is this a process of overcoming that intensifies and increases the will to receive?

R. Repeat the question.

S. He is asking whether the intensification or overcoming the will to receive, does it increase and intensify the will receive?

R. Intensification or overcoming is when I wish to turn my will to receive into a leverage to raise myself to the degree of the bestower instead of simply receiving. Meaning overcoming is not only that I am stopping myself, I'm restricting myself because it could be simply I wish not to feel this unpleasant feeling but the fact that I want to rise above it that is already above the unpleasantness as it comes from the desire to bestow to the Creator. I wish to see how much I fulfill him, return to him and not because I feel ashamed, I'm not feeling ashamed because I restricted myself and now I wish to give to bestow. This is already an action that is above the restriction and the shame. The shame becomes a source of honor.

22. S. (41:58) The second intensification is possible only because there was a restriction?

R. Yes. Of course.

S. And in the first intensification it has been rejecting without a restriction?

R. Yes, we will get into it, it is still very, we have not really learned this.

S. The expansion of the light causes a change of form or an addition?

R. The expansion of the light causes a sensation that the creative being is different from the light.

23. S. (43:04) Regarding the … it doesn’t work out for me because suddenly it seems for the first time that the first intensification is intensification of the desire to bestow and the second intensification is the intensification of the will to receive but in phase four we do not yet have a screen we are not talking about the screen so does it talk about the intensification of the will to receive that eventually takes over?

R. Eventually I open myself up in order to receive since by that I give contentment to the Creator. It is not about how much I receive or I don't receive, it is the intention that determines what I am doing whether I am receiving or giving. It is only according to the intention and not according to the action. I could open myself up and receive and it will be this, the purpose of creation is to receive infinitely but only on the condition to that extent that we bestow infinitely. So it turns out that both us and the Creator work in one action towards one another.

24. S. (44:34) Regarding the restriction, what we read about in these items is this about things that only occurred in the spiritual world and they are unrelated to what we can do here in the physical world?

R. What we learn and the wisdom of Kabbalah we have none of this in the corporeal world, in the corporeal world we exist and we act on the level of, on the animate level, the level of animals.… according to the will to receive. When you work according to the will to receive it means that you work on the animate degree. He who rises from it above the animate level meaning he goes through a restriction and he begins to work only for the intention to bestow, meaning the restriction, screen and reflected light, to that extent he enters the speaking world, the spiritual world where the degrees are found. I wish to climb more and more. According to how much we can bestow in order to bestow and even to receive in order to bestow.

25. S. (46:14) How does a person determine a screen, how does one determine a screen, establish a screen?

R. According to his attitude toward the Creator he receives from the Creator the power to work above his will to receive with a disposition towards bestowal to the friends and to the Creator through the friends. From love of friends to the love of the Creator and in this way he realizes himself correctly.

26. S. (47:00) Is spiritual shame only revealed after the correction?

R. Spiritual shame is revealed, what do you mean after the correction? It causes the correction. As long as a person can justify himself it means that he has no shame. The minute he cannot justify himself in any way, shape or form according to the state not entirely but according to a state, this means that he is ready to pray and acquire the correction of the screen.

27. S. (47:48) What happens during the intensification inside of the will to receive?

R. During the intensification the will to receive requires additional bestowal from above that aims him to work above himself.

28. S. (48:13) We don't say don’t do this to that but now we are learning that shame is hidden within the person. What is this whole mechanism of shame? Is it from the side of the person or the Creator?

R. Certainly the Creator but he works through everything. Everything is under his control, sometimes through the friends, sometimes through the group, sometimes through relatives, sometimes through a person himself. It means that there are many ways to the place.

S. This is before the barrier

R. Also afterwards. The Creator works in many ways on a person.

29. S. (49:11) We study all these things and my mind just wants to know right away how it applies to human relationships and of course I cannot do it and I go crazy.

R. Don't go crazy or mad try to apply between you and the friends as much as you can but only among the friends. Everywhere else you should behave the way everyone else does. In the group you should behave the way you study and the way you want to make yourself into a spiritual person.

S. So these things do apply?

R. We are already applying them by speaking about them and I feel through the friends how they entered from afar with lack of understanding, lack of desire from these very remote points, how they nevertheless are coming closer and they are starting to feel and understand things and the entrance is the most difficult thing. It is like becoming, it is like conceiving in this world. Becoming pregnant. It’s a problem and later it develops.

30. S. (51:24) Maybe I missed it but in relation to shame it is not so clear. It is unrelated to the intellect at all so can you explain it somehow? Over the years for example, until now I didn't understand why I should be ashamed or where I am moved by fear.

R. You should continue and it will present itself for scrutiny but the shame has to come to a person. Let us say that he will start to read a few articles and think about it and then he will begin to discover the shame but in truth shame has to be revealed as a result of good Deeds. Start bestowing even when you do not want to, start bestowing to friends of the group and then you will begin to feel shame. If you do not begin to bestow to the friends of the group you will never discover the shame. This is simple. The more you bestow the more shame you will discover.

S. Is it a force that is felt?

R. Of course, the shame is the feeling of a man's personality when I exist and I want and I can hold myself by my own rights.

S. And the force of overcoming the shame appears thanks to the fact that I develop the greatness of the ten?

R. The power to overcome shame comes from the Creator only as a result of our request. Clear?

31. S. (53:40) The light departs, the coarseness is revealed: coarseness is a criticism towards the friends?

R. Also.

S. What is the right work with criticism?

R. We will work on it. The correct work with the criticism is when I want even more to come close to the friends and then from this connection. this feeling that I extract from the connection between us, I check. I scrutinize. I review the point of the shame in the relationship between us.

S. And the basis is also annulment? Is there anything besides annulment or is it only annulment, annulment, annulment?

R. Yes, we do not have anything more, we have to reach a restriction.

S. Annulment is restriction?

R. Restriction and annulment are not the same thing: Annulment is as if I’m annulling myself and I become a zero; restriction is when I do not annul myself to zero, I merely restrict my will to receive in order to receive. But I cannot cancel it, it will become clearer to us when we begin to work with the desires. I stay in my desire, if I do not, if I do not remain with my desire, my desire disappears then who am I? I disappear, I remain in my flesh and blood. But the “I” has to be there and “he who is greater than his friend his inclination is greater”. Slowly, everything will come to its place and we’ll organize the correct form and we will use it to advance. Do not rush it, we have many friends and it is good because this intensity of all of us is advancing us correctly and towards the goal.

32. S. (56:30) When the guest is ashamed to taste what the host prepared for him, how does he know what he prepared for him and what it tastes like?

R. In spirituality it is clear to us what was prepared for us and we are approaching it, we can taste it, we actually taste it. And after we taste it we decide if we want to receive it or not, why, what for, in what way, what is the reason that I should not receive it? Or I feel shame, it means that I respect my shame, how can I receive? I'm a human, if I will receive from him, he will be higher, I will be lower, I will owe him. So is this the reason why I'm going to restrict myself and I receive anything? So I am descending even deeper into in order to receive. I do not receive in order to not receive, to respect my pride, to show the host, to show the friend that I do not depend on him, I do not owe him or anything and so on and so forth. So we are fast approaching true states where the greatness of the host in my eyes obligates me to act in order to bestow. Soon, soon.

S. That is interesting, you told Jakob now that in spirituality we taste and then we decide whether to receive it or not.

R. How can you decide if you do not taste?

S. But if you taste, that is already an expansion inside the vessel.

R. No, no, no.

S. So where is the taste felt?

R. The tasting in the will to receive.

S. So it came in, that is it…?

R. How can you restrict the will to receive if you did not taste anything?

S. I understand we are supposed to feel spiritual feelings first in the vessel of in order to receive?

R. No, no, hold on, we’ll see how it’s happening in practice. It’s not so simple, you have a ten, we’ll see how you cannot escape the group. We have all the conditions felt for us to reach the spiritual goal.

33. S. (59:24) The form of the study, I wanted to ask, I’m getting excited a little bit. We have the sources, we read them, all of the friends, all of the questions, we’re all on a different level of impression. Now they’re exploding you, bombing you with questions. What is the purpose of this study, to reach the implementation of it, because you don't really understand anything?

R.  The purpose of the study is that through me you suck from the Creator everything He wants to give you, is capable of giving you, this is the purpose of the study. And I will remain empty as I truly am, right now, but the Creator will give you through me everything possible. Therefore ask, ask away, these things we must scrutinize.

S. Is it okay that the directions of the questions are completely different? I try to focus but only thanks to the fact that you each time direct us to this point of connection and working in the 10, only then somehow I manage to straighten the line.

R. Cleave unto me and receive everything there is, that is, don't worry about it, you are aimed correctly.

34. S. (01:01:12)  What kind of relation do we feel in relation to the coarseness and shame?

R. Again, repeat please.

S  How can we distinguish between shame and the coarseness becoming greater?

R. The greater the shame, the greater the coarseness and the other ways around. The greater the coarseness that comes to be realized, the greater the shame we feel, that's why it's written, ”the shame is ready, is ready for high souls”, because it helps them to climb the ladder of degrees and to feel shame. But their (there?) shame acquires special attitudes towards the Creator and also towards creation, towards created beings because everyone begins to feel how much he owes to the created beings, how much he passes them the pipeline with upper abundance and that's why he feels ashamed. He feels shame towards the Creator who gives everything and they created beings who need everything and man as a thin pipeline, conduit that is there and he’s trying to be a conduit between the Creator and the created being. These are very special states.

35. S. (01:03:26) I am trying to hold on to that general point like the previous friend was asking. You say that shame depends on the influence of the friends; and on the other hand, it comes from the Creator. Immediately here were discern four phases of direct light and also coarseness. Can we compare it to a person when he wants to parachute. He learns about everything but only when he jumps he actually realizes what happens to him. Can we compare it to this that we learn about everything: how we go up in the plane, how we jump. But until we actually jump we won’t really understand any of this, we won’t really understand what’s happening. So what is this jump, how do we prepare together,  how do we do it?

R.  We are preparing ourselves to be ready to deliver ourselves to the force of bestowal, it’s truly like skydiving and that's what we have to prepare ourselves for.

36. S. (01:04:42)  So, when we start receiving we feel the taste and then we can make a restriction?

R.  It could be.

37. S. (01:04:58) If everything that happens inside of me, I don't attribute it to the Creator, then what?

R.  Do whatever you can do in every moment and then you will understand whatever is going on with you.

38. S. (01:05:22) Does shame repeat itself in all degrees or does it happen just once?

R. In all the degrees, the shame is not the same as we understand it to be; but rather the shame is the feeling of the gap, the difference, the distance between me and the upper one, that is shame.

39. S. (01:05:57) In relation to phase two, on the one hand it says intensification and on the other hand, it’s Hassidim. How is Hassidim and intensification, overcoming, aren’t they different?

R.  We will see, we'll see, you might be right.

Item identification #70 (01:06:23 - 01:07:03) “What are the four letters of HaVaYa?

40. R. (01:07:04) Meaning in the Creator's Influence on us we have four phases, 1-, 2-, 3-, 4-: Aleph, Bet, Gimel, Dalet. Aleph, as he say, I’m reading, “ the Yod of HaVaYah is the first expansion of the light from the Creator, this light builds the desire and this is called the first “Hey” of HaVaYah, it is the first intensification or overcoming in the light, called phase two; the third stage is the Vav of HaVaYah, which is the second expansion of the light.” We first had the first suspension, then overcoming or intensification, and now second expansion called “Ot Vav”,sixth letter, letter Vav of HaVaYah, the expansion of the light, and then there is the third phase and after that, the last letter, “Hey” of HaVaYah, the fourth phase which is the second intensification or overcoming”. So, we have two expansions and two intensifications or overcoming, we will learn more about those: why do they exist? They are building the Ten Sefirot, they are building the Partzuf and the light that begins to expand in the desire, that light fills the desire and invites a reaction in the desire called “expansion” the light expands and then intensification, the desire reacts and then another expansions of the light and then another intensification of the desire. And in this way we get four phases: expansion, intensification, expansion, intensification. He's not explaining anything more than that, we just have to hear it and later we will scrutinize it.

Item 72: What is the single thought that includes all the forms and opposites in reality? (01:09:41 - 01:09:49)

41. R. (01:09:52) That’s it, it’s like he says, “it is the thought to delight or benefit His created beings”, there’s nothing more in all of reality, down to the last detail including everything and in each and everything we investigate or scrutinize, we’ll see only one thing, the desire to delight the created beings. In everything that is done, in all of reality, we will discover only that, “the desire to delight the created beings”. And we will need to be incorporated in it, to cleave to it, to adhere to it, to equalize ourselves to it all the way, each one of us and all of us together, like it or not. That is how we are going to work and the upper light will form this final form out of us; of course today we are in opposite form to that, but what depends on us is only agreement, we wish for the upper light to influence us and give us those forms whereby He wishes to delight His created beings, we are willing to receive, to accept any form He wants, not to delight the created beings, it’s going to be good for us, but because we want Him to realize Himself.

42. S. (01:11:33) You described in a very colorful way how the light enters the desire. Now, if it’s in relation to us then we feel it according to the same phases?

R. We, not right now, but we will feel it, we will discover it, this is how it's happening in us.

S. But specifically according to the structure of HaVaYah?

R.  Yes, according to this order in everything we find out this is how it works.

43. S. (01:12:26) In any expansion from Ein Sof there are four phases?

R. Of course, without it the light cannot make it to Malchut, to the vessel.

S. So, the incorporation between the phases, can we say that before, let's say in phase one, phase 2 is revealed. Phases two cannot emerge, it has to be in a previous discernment first, in the previous phase?

R. One after the other: one, two, three, four, otherwise he won't be revealed, how will it be born? The second phase, if not the first phase that concluded its expansion and reached the Malchut in phase one and its then it’s doing an action of dissemination with the upper light and then we give birth to the second discernment and then it continues three and four.

S. So what happens, let’s say, in phase four of phase one. This is not a will to receive yet?

R. It’s a will to receive in phase one that’s how it’s revealed just like in four phases of direct light, just like we’ve learned this before. We learned that there are four phases of direct light, we learn it in brief. The light expansions and its expansion in the will to receive He created, “something out of absence”, we call this expansion the “first expansion”. And then after the light fulfills that will to receive it causes this will to receive to feel that he wants to bestow. Then he stops receiving, this is called the “second phase”, “second discernment” and inside is the light of Hassadim. Later he concludes the second phase with Malchut in the second phase and he decides that he’s going to receive inside the light of Hassadim, a little bit of the light of Hochma, this is Zeir Anpin, or the third phase. And then the third phase decides he's going to receive in all his will to receive, and this is already the fourth phase. And the 4 phase concludes the reception of the light of Ein Sof inside of it, it feels and sees how opposite it is to the upper light, it can't stand it and shame appears to it then he forms the restriction. And, after that we are already talking about the screen, and the reflected light and the building of the Partzufim. Meaning the Kli, the Malchut with its will to receive, with its restriction and screen, determines how much he will receive in order to bestow to the Creator because he’d rather be with it in adhesion, in connection, to fit perfectly and this is how they work together, the Creator to the created being and the created being to the Creator.

S. I do not understand: if in every phase of the four phases there's another expansion of four phases, what's the uniqueness that the first phase brings out of the second phase? Why didn't they go from first phase to second, and why is there an expansion in four and only then the second face comes?

R. No, no, no, where are you taking this from? We are learning simply: light expands in the will to receive that it created and expands in it, and comes to a state where it fills the will to receive with light, that's it. Once it's done that it attains a certain state and from that state he decides that it now wants to work like in the second phase. He now wants not to receive but to bestow. to resemble the light that fits him.

S. So this decision is taken in the fourth phase of the first phase?

R. Yes, of course. Do not get confused, try to put these things in order otherwise you’re going to build all kinds of degrees inside degrees. You want to try to understand the four phases in the first phase, already. We don’t learn it like that, we will later, not for now.

44. S. (01:17:54) After the screen there is reflected light, I think it’s called Hasidim, but there's also Hasidim that comes from the screen in Bina. Is it the same Hasidim?

R. There are many forms of the light of Hasidim, it’s always the light, the fulfillment that comes from the desire to bestow of the created being or the will to bestow of the Creator that bestows according to the desire of the created being. Light of Hasidim is the light that expands not from the will to receive but from the will to bestow.

45. S. (01:18:47) As a result of shame, the light was restricted. This restriction, that's what gives us shame and the ability to feel it and if so, how to correct it?

R. By the Kli deciding that it wants to resemble the Creator, everything follows only that desire, to resemble the Creator, to be closer to the Creator.

46. S. (01:19:40) Is spiritual shame and corporeal shame the same feeling?

R. The feeling cannot be a similar feeling because it’s in different vessels. I cannot explain it, it’s a matter of feeling, of feelings. Let’s put it like this: you are among people and all of a sudden everyone begins to applaud and to invite you to the stage and they give you flowers and everyone speaks highly of you, and you don't know how to run away from all of that, you are ashamed. Or maybe you are among people and everyone points at you and says, “grab him, he's a thief”. So again you don't know how to escape and you could be ashamed here as well. So, shame is our difference towards the Creator, the shame that we are talking about here. The difference between the Creator and the created being, that shame. That's why it says, “shame is prepared for the higher souls”, those longing for the Creator so they will feel how opposite to the Creator they are, well we will come to that.

47. S. (01:21:58) What makes the light come out for the fourth phase, the screen, the restriction or something else?

R. I don't understand your question exactly. That light comes according to the Kli. To the extent that and exactly how the vessel wants to improve, that's something that I can say and that'll be true for every state.

48. S. (01:22:46) Why in phase four do I look at the coarseness in me and I feel shame? Shouldn’t I feel the opposite, happy from the greatness of the adhesion and the endless light of the Creator that wants to give joy to His created beings?

R. Right if you can receive the fulfillment in Behina Dalet, phase four, to the extent that you give pleasure to the Creator just as He wants to give to you, you also want to give to Him. Then you are already in adhesion with the Creator But if you receive from Him. let’s say you received from Him without equivalence of form, without wanting to give back to Him, then you might feel shame instead. In order to not feel the shame, the Creator created the concealment. Meaning that you receive something, somewhat from the Creator, in order to prepare yourself for a screen so that if you begin receiving from the Creator you will be able to give back and thereby achieve the equivalence of form. And by that you will reveal the Creator and not just what you received from Him.

49. S. (01:24:33) How not to be paralyzed by shame, it'll be a means to obtain adhesion?

R.  Well, if you turn this shame to the other way around to pride, that you take pride in being able to bestow the the Creator that you are being able to bestow to the Creator, this is called “transforming the shame to honor”, I'm willing to receive from the Creator but only on the condition that I want to bring Him contentment, that's it, then the shame becomes honor.

50. S. (01:25:40) I heard that the screen is a result of what takes place in the beginning of the restriction and the restriction, in order to perform that, we need to feel the right shame. So in our work, can we ask the shame from the Creator or for the friends or is it just a result of the right deeds of connection?

R. The shame comes from working to connect between us and relate ourselves to the Creator; then only then, we prepare ourselves to receive the screen, that's it. We have to try to assemble such relationships between us as in a true, correct ten. And then we will feel that we must have the screen, we must bestow to the friends, we have to bestow from the friends to the Creator.

S. Before everyone feels the shame, you explain this state that, I don't know, ‘flowers or the thief on the stage’. These are examples that are distant from us, before you feel it you can't imagine what we’re speaking about. What shame should we feel in the ten?

R. Right.

51. S. (01:27:21) Without shame can we feel the difference from the Creator?

R. No.

52. S. (01:27:35) Should we yearn to attain the feeling of shame?

R. No, we have to long to attain the quality of bestowal.

53. S. (01:27:48) You said the more a person bestows, he will feel more shame, isn't this supposed to be the opposite, the more he receives he should feel more shame?

R. But he doesn't know that he's receiving if he is not longing to bestow.

54. S. (01:28:09) How to go from egoistic shame that comes from pride, that I’m guarding my ego, to shame that helps me advance?

R. We have to try to bestow, connect to the friends, and then you will see that the Creator arranges these incidents where you feel shame.

55. S. (01:28:29) How to awaken shame on the 10 in order to determine a screen?

R. Treat the friends correctly as you should and then you feel how much you should feel ashamed.

56. S. (01:28:43) Is revelation of shame in a person a sense of recognition of evil?

R. That, yes, yes you can put it that way.

Item #73 (01:29:16 - 01:29:29)  Where do the sages of Kabbalah begin to engage?

57. R. (01:29:32) That’s understood, right? We are only talking about the forms in which the light expands from the Creator, the Creator, Himself, we do not know what It is, that's the source of the light. Now, the created beings themselves, too, we don’t exactly know what they are,  we know they are receivers of the light. So we’re only talking about the expansion of the light from Himself to the created beings, and that's the whole wisdom, essentially.

58. S. (01:30:15) You said that shame is the feeling of the gap between me and the Creator so where is that gap being revealed? Toward my nature, what the Creator created or my attitude towards the Creator?

R. It becomes revealed in our relationship. For now not in relation to the Creator body but in relation to the created beings. The Creator is felt as the good who does good. To whom? To the created beings. To the extent that I feel my attitude is different from the good that does good then I discover myself as a created being standing opposite to the Creator. Everything is measured according to the created beings, towards that group. If there is no group we cannot attain the Creator, we cannot determine our attitude and our status as opposed to His, we can’t measure our progress towards Him. Everything is measured only inside the group.

59. S. (01:31:33)  What is the difference between shame on low degrees and shame on high degrees?

R. Shame on lower degrees and higher degrees, that depends on the levels of shame, meaning  to the extent to which I’m ashamed. Not more or less but what from, what is the quality of the shame, is it more or less qualitative. For example say crude shame it is that I took something from someone and subtle shame is that I didn't think well about the other.

60. S. (01:32:24) Is the shame that I reveal when I'm with the intention to receive for myself also a recognition of evil?

R. Let's say so.

61.S. (01:32:44)  Are the efforts of praying for the friends what helps us overcome Shame?

R. Yes, for sure.

62. S. (01:32:54) You said that the more we bestow the more we’ll feel shame. We feel shame because we don't do enough exertion or we don't have the right intention from that effort?

R. I do not understand the question.

S. You said that the more we bestow we will feel more shame. So what does the feeling of shame come from? From our efforts to bestow because we discover we don’t exert enough or that in that effort we reveal our intention was wrong?

R. Our intention. We discover more about our intention, the quality of the labour, the quality of the shame. Some people say okay, so I took something from someone. With others if they thought one moment badly about someone else they already eat themselves up for a day.

63. S. (01:34:06)  The more I do deeds of bestowal I feel more pride. Should I be ashamed of that?

R. No, no I wouldn't say so. We shouldn't be ashamed on the contrary, this can advance us. Later it will all be going to corrections.

64. S. (01:34:32) Does shame come because the Creator is the good who does good and man doesn’t feel that?

R. That too but mostly because shame stems from in equivalence with the Creator, how much we’re not like him.

65. S. (01:34:55) How can I turn shame of self-reception to shame from not bestowing to the Creator?

R. Through not bestowing to the group, to the friends. Through that I will feel how much I don’t  bestow to the Creator.

66. S. (01:35:23)  If shame is a feeling, what is it’s root? Is it not the desire because the created being is all a desire?

R. Of course it’s desire. If I bestow to the friends, I reach out to them, I want to bestow to them and if I can’t do it then I’m ashamed and to that extent I can say that I also relate to the Creator. All in all the relation to the Creator is the same relation to the group. If there is no attitude to the group then there is no attitude to the Creator. I could imagine things to myself, that I am bestowing to the whole world but that's nothing. I can only relate to the Creator in the same way I relate to my society. So take that into account.

67. S. (01:36:32)  Do you recommend that we express our shame before the friends?

R.  It is possible to sometimes talk about it.

68. S. (01:36:43)  What should we be ashamed of as a ten? Is is possible to awaken shame in a purposeful way to speed up the times?

R.  We should be ashamed that we are not ashamed.

69. S. (01:36:57)  Does the light of Hochma and light of Hassadim help us cover the lack of light in Phase 4?

R.  Of course. In Phase 4 there is both all the light of Hassadim and all the light of Hochma

70. S. (01:37:17) What is the coarseness of the ten? How to check it and feel it?

R. The coarseness of the ten, there's a few things there included in the coarseness of the ten. That we want to connect to each other, we want and we can’t. We want to connect to each other and we can. It’s all different measurements and so forth, but certainly everything follows the desires.

71. S. (01:38:06)  How to use coarseness correctly in order to reach a greater connection?

R. To use the coarseness can only be done in one way. I don’t erase the coarseness, I don’t play with it, I am working above it. I want to connect with all the coarseness in me, connect with my friends in such a way that all the coarseness will only intensify the connection between us.

72. S. (01:38:47) What gave Phase 4 the force to perform the restriction?

R. The force to make the restriction in Phase 4 it is given by the shame, the gap between Phase 4 and the root phase. To the extent in which the Creator bestows and I am opposite, that reveals in me such states, such feelings that I can't hold onto that. I am just removing myself from reception and restricting myself. The feeling of oppositeness to the Creator.

73. S. (01:39:46)  When is the restriction spiritual and when is it corporeal?

R. Corporeal restriction is due to corporeal shame, spiritual section is due to spiritual shame.

74. S. (01:40:03)  In 62 it said that the light came from Ein Sof and the screen stopped it from  illuminating in the 4th Phase. What is that line?

R. It’s the line of life that shines from Ein Sof through all the phases to the 4th Phase. And in the 4th Phase ultimately, specifically from the influence of the upper light the matter of the screen begins to awaken. That it doesn't want to receive the upper light because in receiving the light it feels oppositeness, shame. And that raises him to above, to feel the Keter and then he senses how opposite he is the Creator, to the Keter. And that invites the action in him of the restriction.

75. S. (01:41:01)  Why was the coarseness revealed in Phase 4 only after the line appeared and not in the moment of restriction? Why was the coarseness of Phase 4 revealed only after the line appeared and not in the moment of the restriction?

R. The restriction it is already a result of the feeling of the coarseness. So there cannot be a restriction before the forming of the coarseness. And the feeling of the line, the feeling of bestowal of the Creator to the created beings, that comes before the feeling of the created being as opposite to the Creator. And that causes the created being the feeling of shame, the feeling of difference, and then he restricts himself. He restricts himself and bring himself to actions of identifying with the Creator, starting to make actions in order to bestow like the Creator. Because he can’t stand his oppositeness to the Creator.

76. S. (01:42:43) Is the expansion more from the light and the overcoming more from the vessel?

R.  Correct.

77. S. (01:42:55)  Can the vessel overcome independently without the help of the light?

R. Without the help of the light the Kli can’t do anything. Whatever the Kli can do is only to the extent that the light influences it. Restriction, screen, reflected light, raising all kinds of actions towards the Keter, it’s all only because the light influences. The Kli is always secondary. It’s always under the control of the light and doing only actions that the light invites in it. The Kli can never actually be independent, no. Only as a response to the upper  light.

78. S. (01:43:54)  Is overcoming a result of restriction?

R. The overcoming is the result of the restriction, yes.

79. S. (01:44:09)  Is the coarseness rejection and the screen agreement?

R. You can say that. You can say that, there is something to that, yes.

80. S (01:44:25) What’s that one action where the Creator and the created being work together?

R. That they want to come closer to each other, they want to become incorporated, fulfill each other, adhere to each other. All actions in spirituality are actions of some some sort of agreement between the Creator and the created being.

81. S. (01:44:55) Is overcoming an expanding? Something happens in every desire that is revealed?

R. Overcoming an expansion are always in the relationship of Creator and the created being. Because the created being is opposite to the Creator his response to the influence of the Creator goes through four phases, 2 of expansion and 2 of overcoming. And only then the correct will to receive is set in the created being which it received from the upper light. And then with that will to receive the created being can begin to draw closer the Creator.

82. S. (01:45:44) What does it mean first to taste and then decide whether to take it or not in the ten and in spirituality?

R. In the ten, that is confusing in the ten because it's a spiritual question and I do not know what state the ten is in, not yet. So we have to work from our practical states, that's what I can say. What we receive from the ten, from the Creator through the ten, all those things have to happen within us realistically. If we want to change our state it’s only by increasing the connection between us, inside the ten.

83. S. (01:47:06) In the ten is there mutual desire to receive or mutual intention to bestow above all the desires of the friends ?

R. In the ten is the collection of the friends' intentions.

84. S. (01:47:25) If hatred is revealed toward a  friend and I ask to love with all my forces that same one that appeared before the ten is that an attempt to equalize with the Creator?

R. It could be. We have to take into account one thing. That perhaps I'm not feeling anything and I am connected to my friends not knowing what kind of connections happen between us, but the upper light influences and clarifies it between us and changes the relationship between us. Because on His part we're open, He understands where we are. And so we have to accept what becomes revealed as revealed from above. This is how the Creator arranges it for us so we advance from that. And so all the states that appear to us in the ten we have to take into account that it comes directly from above, from the Creator, and we have to reach a state where it happens between us.

85. S. (01:48:48) The more we read TES the more there is a desire to feel these terms like coarseness, restriction. Are we close to this revelation? How can we speed it up?

R. To the extent that you connect between yourselves in the ten  you have to discover between you these terms, these concepts: coarseness, reflected light, screen, restriction, all of that happens in the ten. No ten, can’t reveal anything.

86. S. (01:49:26) Is overcoming a change in the quality of the will to receive and not its size?

R. Well, this is difficult for us to define what is what. Connection, coarseness, intensity, that will become more clear to us later. What is important to us is to attain the initial connection on which we can install a screen, this common intention to the Creator. To bestow to him from all of us from the whole ten and from that we will begin to build ourselves consciously.
