48. The white in the eye covers all the other colors, meaning that the white controls the other colors in the eyes, that it is the most abundant. His eyes are big and protruding from their holes. His heart is haughty, and it is written about him, “Everyone who is proud at heart is an abomination to the Lord.” All the good that he does is in order to make for himself a name.
He is from among those of whom it is written, “Let us build us a city and a tower with its top in heaven, and let us make us a name.” These are the builders of synagogues and seminaries with their money, and it is all in order to make for themselves a name, and not for the sake of the Creator. That man is an adulterer; he is the shape of an adulterer donkey. If he is your guest, guard your daughter and your wife from him. These white eyes are the opposite of white eyes from the side of holiness, which will be explained below.
49. That man woos after spells all his life, and succeeds in it with kings and rulers. He is a magician, a fortune teller, and a sorcerer. His record [Reshimo] is an impression of the serpent in the quality of the white, that there is a white impression in his shoulders, from which the serpent is taken. That is, the serpent is extended from a white impression, and there is no hair on that impression. That person’s sign is in everything; he is white; his hair is white, he is tall, and his hair is long.
50. One who has white eyes, that the white governs in them, which is the most abundant, and they look straight, is a man of Hesed. That man was born on the first day and the first hour, whose sign is Aries. His animal is lion. On the first day, all twelve signs and twelve planets are enslaved to his star and to his sun, and likewise, each day is like that.
51. That man is white from the whiteness that was created on the first day of the work of creation, as it is written, “And God said, ‘Let there be light, and there was light.’” If he is born in the beginning of the first hour of the day, he will be very wise in the Torah, and will be the head of the members of the seminary. If he is born in the middle of the hour, he will be medium in the Torah, and if at the end of the hour, he will be poor in the Torah, a tail to the lions, to the disciples of the wise.
52. He is in the sign Reuben, with the letters of Ohr Ben [son of light], from the side of Hesed, since Reuben is Hesed. The moon, Malchut, takes the white in the light, Hesed, since Malchut is white from the side of Hesed, and she is the sun from the side of Gevura. She is Kochav [star/Mercury] from the side of Tifferet, as it is written, “A Star shall come out of Jacob,” and she is Noga [Venus] from the side of Netzah. She is Mars from the side of Hod, since Hod became red by Gevura, and she is Shabbat from the side of Yesod, Shabtai [Saturn], of which it was said from the good side, Shabbat.
53. However, there is Shabtai from the side of the shell. When he governs the world, the Shabbat departs, and the guests, who are the additional souls with which Israel are rewarded on Shabbat, say, “Where is the Shabbat?” meaning where has the light of Shabbat gone?
54. For this reason, those who have white eyes take in the moon, in Malchut, from the side of Hesed. They are the ones with good Hassadim [mercies] from the descendants of Abraham. These eyes look in a straight manner toward the right.
55. That person is generous with his money, since the money of the soul is the Torah, and the rest of the wealth is the money of the body. That person is as white as silver, tall, with a white impression in his right. He is loved by people, and loved by the Creator, as it is written, “Abraham, who loves Me.” His hair is straight and white.
56. There are no eyes that are not incorporated with four colors—white, red, green, and black. Thus, why are they called “white eyes”? however, each color that rules over the others, the eyes are named after it. For this reason, when the white rules in the eyes, they are called “white eyes,” and one who wishes to succeed in the Torah and exerts in her, we learn about him, “He who wishes to grow wise should head south,” gripping the quality of the right, which is called “south,” Hesed.
