Lesson on the topic of Baal HaSulam. Shamati 4. What Is the Reason for the Heaviness One Feels when Annulling Before the Creator in the Work?

1. Rav’s Intro: This is a short article but it's very important, very powerful. Let's read it and I'm ready to discuss it. Please.

Reading Article: (00:44) 4. What Is the Reason for the Heaviness One Feels when Annulling Before the Creator in the Work? Twice.

2. S. (09:45) What does it mean that a person was able to nullify himself towards the Creator? What was he able to do?

R. He needs to cancel himself as he said, to want to feel only the Creator and know his feelings, his feelings of life.

3. S. (10:38) What is the difference between the Creator's light and the greatness of the Creator?

R. This is particularly the same thing but it's in relation to the person. The light of the Creator the person feels or the greatness of the Creator that the person feels is the same thing practically.

S. It says in the article that in order to enlarge the vessel we need to enlarge the greatness of the Creator.

R. The Creator, yes. That depends on the person to what extent that he wants to feel the Creator's greatness. To what extent the Creator fills up the whole world.

S. Nonetheless I can't understand why the light is in the control of the Creator, the Kli is in the control of the person, and the greatness of the Creator is in the hands of the man. It's unclear.

R. We need to understand what's going on here, for now, we have to just imagine that the Creator is filling up the whole world. 

4. S. (12:03) In the text it says that the reason for the heaviness one feels when annulling before the Creator is a lack of faith basically. The question is what exactly is faith in the Creator, because when I see the greatness of the person to whom I annul I get worried about if this annulment will be for myself or for the Creator. So how do I annul correctly to the Creator?

R. This also is to feel the Creator is filling the whole of reality with his glory. The world is full of his glory and There Is None Else Besides Him. Then the more he annuls himself before the Creator, who fills up the whole world, to that extent it's called that he gets closer to the Creator, that he feels him and accepts his greatness, and then lives in feeling of him.

S. How do I know if I'm nullifying for my own self egoistically or for the sake of the Creator?

R. This is a question, why do I want to feel the Creator? What will I get from this, what do I want to do with the feeling of the Creator that I got? This is a question that I want to reveal in order to serve the Creator. To cancel himself, to annul himself, and to bow before Him. This is what my attitude toward the Creator should be.

5. S. (14:48) Everything is to arrive after the existence of the Creator and further contact with him. How can we deserve the faith we need to connect with him?

R. We always have to try to feel him in the world, he fills up the world and controls everything, controls everything. This is what we want, and if we constantly follow where the Creator is and how to feel him, we eventually reveal that he exists in the whole world and start to feel him as filling up the whole of reality.

S. The faith is not a gift from the Creator?

R. Yes, when the Creator is revealed to the person, the person starts to feel inside of the Creator as filling up the whole world, this is called faith in the Creator.

6. S. (16:32) When we're speaking between us about the reward for our work, we want great results we expect. In our discussions, we don't want anything and it's great. I have heard this message many times, but here it's speaking about how the reward needs to be faith in the Creator. How all the time do we expect to see such an award, why is there a feeling that I don’t want anything because it’s good when it’s not good?

R. If I don't want anything then it's not good as I'm not demanding anything, not asking for anything, and I don't strive for anything.

S. What do we do here that we always need to expect and demand the reward? It's not like how we depict it, how do we direct ourselves to it? It seems like the ego wanted something.

R. No, we want to reveal that the Creator fills up the whole world, that's not necessarily the ego. I want to reveal him in order to so that my ego would annul before him.

S. It turns out that I always need to check these two things: that the ego is growing and to reach faith?

R. Yes.

7. S. (18:15) In the article it talks about nullifying within a candle before a torch. How do we join with the great torch with a pure heart with the light of a small candle?

R. It depends on the Creator. When he is revealed, the Creator will certainly annul himself there's nothing else left to do apart from annulling himself, and this is natural when something happens as soon as the person starts to feel the Creator, he annuls himself before him.

S. I can’t feel my friend so how can I feel the Creator? 

R. That's why we have to get closer to the friends, as much as possible and through them get closer to the Creator. This is what's called through the love of creations to the love of the Creator. 

8. S. (20:18) We know that we feel the Creator through the ten, but the question is the feeling of the Creator. Is it felt through the five senses or does there exist an additional sense to which we feel the Creator through the soul? If so, what is it?

R. The sensory organ you can feel the Creator is a special organ that the Creator gives us. He reveals this ability to feel this is similar to the light in the vessel, this is the way it works. 

9. S. (21:10) On the one hand the Creator shows the person pictures that one's heart isn’t capable, unwilling to accept. On the other hand, we need to nullify to the Creator. How do we need to bring these two actions together?

R. We try to reveal the Creator in order to annul ourselves before him.

S. How in the meantime do we relate to the pictures that the Creator is showing us that we cannot agree with?

R. To annul as much as possible before the friends.

S. When a person is revealed he feels that there is something that needs correction, is it a mistake or does the Creator show this on purpose?

R. There the Creator does everything on purpose for the purpose of bringing him closer and closer.

S. How does he expect a person to come closer through these pictures that he shows that there needs to be a correction, what does he expect?

R. So that a person would cancel himself, annul himself. Do you hear me, write it down.

10. S. (22:43) There's nothing, there's no this world, there are no friends, there's just me and the Creator. How do we reach such a state?

R. You shouldn't say that only you and the Creator exist, there's this world and there are things in this world to do, we have to annul ourselves before the Creator. 

11. S. (23:31) Before when you gave exercises and that I'm going there, I'm going here, and the Creator’s with me. In order to exercise these muscles in order to receive this faith we need to do this all day we need to remind ourselves even in the smallest of things, in everything, and even in things that seem absurd. You still need to educate yourself towards the Creator before he gives you this faith.

R. About this it is said, “I always have to imagine myself before the Creator.”

12. S. (24:34) I feel that the Creator fills the world, but only for a moment then I forget about Him. How can I always be before the Creator?

R. Your efforts have to be directed at this, exactly, your personal efforts when you want to imagine the Creator as constantly filling up the world, constantly they're in front of you, and you're in his world. That's the way, it is Imagined, try to depict this to yourself more and more. 

13. S. (25:27) According to the article it's written that thanks to the gratitude we enlarge the vessels. Throughout the day, many times, I’m in gratitude to the Creator for everything. How do I understand if it's true gratitude and not out of the egoistic vessels?

R. Continue to get closer to the Creator, attract him to you, continue to walk towards him more, and more, and eventually you'll see that you start to feel Him, and he takes up more and more space in your world.

14. S. (26:20) In a situation canceling yourself like a candle before a torch with contact from the Upper, and here we also need to make efforts with intention from the source, or does it happen naturally?

R. It's nothing like this, to make efforts, we have to make efforts.

S. These efforts as if we have to build the intention in the screen?

R. Yes. 

15. S. (27:03) When I feel the friend then I basically feel the Creator. What is the place of the friend in my faith?

R. It's on the way to feeling the Creator to the extent that you can unite with the friends, and to that extent, you develop your Kelim of connection with the Creator.

16. S. (27:46) The reason for the heaviness of working with the Creator is the “Stony Heart” which is canceled last. Does this mean that we will feel heaviness until the end of correction?

R. This is the first stage and there will be other problems. The main thing is to start to feel the Creator as it is said in the text, as it has said in this text.

17. S. (28:43) I get confused a bit, my ego is widening, the vessels are growing, and I feel myself, not in this little me but in this new me, and I'm filled with this environment, and it feels like everything is mine, the friends. There's a feeling there's still some feeling of egoism here and feeling the environment through the ego it feels like here we need to restrict ourselves a bit to make space for the Creator. How do we do it?

R. Try to train on your friends, and then you will succeed with the Creator as well.

18. S. (29:51) It's written in the text that the extent of the importance of one picture for himself, so the illumination grows in him. I don't really feel the Creator, is it enough that I just imagined it to increase the importance? Because I don’t actually feel him. Is it enough for me to imagine it?

R. This is not enough. Let's start from this, you imagine that the Creator fills up the whole world and you want to feel him in such a way, that he fills up the whole world.

19. S. (30:45) How can I check myself if I'm nullified towards the Creator, what signs are revealed?

R. That you start to feel him.

S. Why is there heaviness when a person nullifies himself to the Creator, must there be heaviness during nullification?

R. Yes, so that you would annul more and more. It's just a sign that you don't annul yourself enough. 

20. S. (31:31) Annulling before the Creator you need to do all the time or does the inner work not always demand annulment?

R. Always, always, and completely, and in everything.

21. S. (31:57) Does the prayer require a group or the prayer without a group can also exist? What is in a prayer?

R. If a person doesn't have anything to ask the Creator that's already bad, he needs to check himself, why is he given such a feeling? 

22. S. (32:36) When a person after big suffering comes to fear in the Creator, the Creator heals him, becomes his salvation, and fills up his whole world. How from this state of running away from suffering to reveal the Creator to serve him?

R. A person must come to a state when he's ready to completely cancel himself in order to feel the Creator, to feel how the Creator fills up the whole world. 

23. S. (33:30) I've been restless for two days, in our group there's a friend who thinks she's the teacher and on Sundays, we do these connections of unity for three or four minutes we have to talk about our feelings, on the one hand, I understand that the Creators with me, on the other hand, I understand that it's not good.

R. Stop these lessons, stop these lessons.

S. I don't know if this is appropriate in a Kabbalah because she wants to, she wants us to feel the light of the Creator as she does, but I'm not sure that this is appropriate.

R. That's correct. Stop serving yourself towards her, calm down.

24. S. (35:08) These efforts to imagine to oneself that I'm always standing before the Creator and he fills up the whole world seem like these are my personal efforts and the whole ten is like a lab, to train, to connect, and to annul. Is it like this or are there common efforts we can do in the ten?

25. S. (35:53) How to help a friend justify the Creator, this is the first question to justify and accept.

R. Give him an example of yourself and others for him to see that justifying the Creator is our very first action. After that, and only after that can we continue to come closer to Him. The main thing is to nullify, to cancel oneself to come closer to Him. 

S. Do I nullify before the Creator or the conditions he gives me, the circumstances?

R. Of course there are the circumstances. We don't attain the Creator himself we just attain the circumstances that he presents.

26. S. (37:26) Question about feeling the Creator, do we feel the Creator in the Kelim of bestowal?

R. Yes. 

S. Millions of people are certain that they feel the Creator, how do we not get confused?

R. What do you care about them?

S. Of course, I don't care about them, but how can we be sure that we feel the Creator? When we see this thought of creation, why do we get certain circumstances and accept them no matter what they are, we give thanks and have joy, because we see the thought of creation and we can say that we can feel the Creator, or this feeling is only in the connections between us?

R. Only the connections between us.

S. If we see his thought, it doesn't mean that we feel the Creator.

R. No these are your thoughts, your desires.

S. And the connections between us are in the ten, right? Or this can be between other people?

R. No, only in the ten.

27. S. (39:09) If I feel connected to the Creator with an unbreakable bond, does each one do this individually?

R. Each one individually.

28. S. (39:30) How to see the friends with closed eyes?

R. Yes, but it's a bit confusing.

S. How to do this always and fast and not fight the ego thinking that you can do this alone.

R. We will learn this together, we will learn this together.

S. When we feel the prayers, something that is stuck in the throat, can you advise us how to rise above the heaviness we feel when we are writing a prayer?

R. I recommend that you read this article that we just read again and again, “What is the reason for the heaviness that a person feels when annulling before the Creator in the work,” and accordingly to build the relations between you and the Creator.

29. S. (41:44) I'm sorry for this question. Our nation is disconnected physically, we need spiritual leadership something that unites us and seems like we are needed these days, but we don't do any special activity organizing the Israeli Kli. As of today, what is annulment to see reality as this breaking happens and to expect redemption or look at this as an exile to bring everyone to unity?

R. We need to study what we're learning and try to go through again and again all the articles that we learned up until today and to continue in this way, every day more and more and so forth. By this, we need to be certain our study will bring the reforming light and by that, we will win over our ego and also over all our haters.

S. We do this, but it seems like the pace of events we can't keep up with them, it's like we're chasing our own tail.

R. We don't need to run away from anything we actually need to run towards the Creator, just like we learned right now what is the reason for the heaviness that a person feels when annulling before the Creator in the work, so we need to try to have the right nullification, the whole one, towards the Creator for him to dwell in us.

S. What does it mean full correct annulment?

R. We need the Creator for him to fill us up, for him to be revealed to us that this is the only thing we lack.

30. S. (44:39) How to support a good connection in the ten, good unity in the ten? There are several friends who want to study in a different place and are speaking negatively about us, about Beni Baruch, and about you. The friend is asking for advice on how to overcome this problem. Can there be good unity in the ten?

R. If there is such a disparity then it's not worth going to any other place, just this place is enough. In general, what places are suitable, a spiritual place? How can it be suitable if it speaks badly about others? Tell me have you ever heard once from me something bad about anyone, especially if they study kabbalah, no? There's no such thing. Also, from Rabash, we never heard such things before. If there is such a place, then we need to run away from it.

31. S. (46:18) You said before about the sensory organ that the Creator gives by himself, and it’s being revealed by this feeling from the perspective of the lower one. Can you feel this feeling in the innermost point through love and devotion towards the ten? Then the Creator is revealed?

R. Yes.

S. Everything that the Creator does with us he increases through the ten his own qualities until they grow to a certain extent and then this is turned into something constant, constant devotion?

R. Yes.

32. S. (47:14) Should annulment come from a place of complete desperation and cry towards the Creator?

R. Well it's desirable, as much as possible.

S. Can you get to the house and the garden without helplessness?

R. No we need to ask the Creator to help us cancel our ego for us to adhere to him with the heart and soul.

S. So the annulment is the request from the Creator about full annulment or the annulment is the complete deficiency and prayer?

R. That as well.

33. S. (48:20) If the Creator gives a negative state and you can connect your state to the Creator, how to reach the right annulment and the right prayer?

R. Try and you'll see that it's possible, on the one hand, I cancel myself, and on the other hand, I ask the Creator for me to cancel myself towards him. It's almost the same thing, right? I mean I just want to feel that I'm canceled. 

34. S. (49:05) Is it possible to ask about attitude towards the lesson?

R. Yes.

S. What should be the right attitude toward the lesson?

R. We need to pray every day, even a few times a day, in order to understand where we are and how we're relating to creation, to the Creator, to the friends, and to ourselves.

S. So the prayer is written every day and is spoken during the day?

R. Yes.

S. How to estimate the real level of importance of the connection between a person and the Creator?

R. We cannot value the true measure, a person is incapable. 

39. S. (53:18) In continuation of the previous question and is written in the article we have to know that there's no difference between a small and big light that a person attains. How do we feel in the ten, everything happens in the ten, and our prayer if we speak this prayer every day but don't write it every day? How do increase this feeling of the Creator, how to increase it?

R. You should aspire towards that between you for the Creator to get revealed between you.

(54:24) I want to ask the following, here there are more and more moments when on Facebook and people are writing and printing about people's children dying, there are many victims and my heart is breaking because of this pain, and this moment you want to strengthen in the prayer even more, you want to give to the group to pray for the nation for peace in the world, but the ego takes away these thoughts. How to pray in every moment for peace in the world and not to exit these thoughts?

R. Only by mutually supporting each other mutual support of each other.

41. S. (55:24) I wanted to clarify you said that we can feel the Creator in vessels of bestowal, but we don't have them, and the Creator gives them as a reward. At what point can we really feel him, it’s clear we have to unite, but when will this happen, when will we be able to say that yes, there is a connection with the Creator?

R. When there is a connection between you, then you'll feel a connection with the Creator.

S. So then we can have vessels of bestowal?

R. Yes.

42. S. (56:17) How can we know the greatness of the Creator is not just in our imagination and it’s not the ego deceiving us?

R. The Creator will be revealed to the extent of the recognition of his greatness.
