Daily Lesson (Afternoon) November 19, 2024.

Part 1: Rabash. The Discernment of “In Everything”, Record 820.

Reader: Hello, we’re studying from the writings of Rabbah, Article 820, “The Discernment of “In Everything.”” The study materials can be found online in Sviva Tova and the Arvut systems. Rav, do you want to open up the lesson?

M. Laitman: Yes, let's read.

Article 820, The Discernment of “In Everything”

Reading: (00:37) “And Abraham was old, advanced in age; and the Lord had blessed Abraham in everything. And Abraham said to his servant…”

There is a question: Why is there a proximity between the commandment not to take a wife “for my son from the daughters of the Canaanite,” and “you will go to my country and to my kindred,” meaning he should take a wife specifically from his family?

In Midrash Rabbah there are three views concerning the meaning of “in everything.” Rabbi Yodan: “In everything” means female. Rabbi Nehemiah: He did not have a female whatsoever. Rabbi Levi: He reigned in his inclination.

A female means a lack, since he was created deficient like all creations, and the Creator gave him a blessing in this lack. This is the view of Rabbi Yodan.

According to Rabbi Nehemiah, he did not have a female whatsoever, meaning his blessing was that he never had any deficiency, and there is no blessing greater than if one’s deficiencies are taken from him.

Rabbi Levi said that it is that he reigned in his inclination. That is, he did have a deficiency, and a deficiency is called the “evil inclination,” but he had the power to control it so as not to receive anything for himself, but only for the sake of the Creator.

It follows that there are three discernments here: 1) He has no deficiency at all; the evil inclination has been taken away from him, and he bestows in order to bestow. He reigned in his inclination, meaning he does not receive at all. Also, that he had a female, meaning that he had a deficiency but he was using it only in a manner of blessing, by receiving in order to bestow, and then it is regarded as a blessing.

1) He does not receive.

2) He bestows in order to bestow.

3) He receives in order to bestow.

In other words, the three views are the order of the work to achieve the completeness of the goal, and each one thinks that he is the most important. One thinks that the most important is the beginning, which is not to be a receiver, and that this was the whole blessing, and the rest simply follows.

The next one thinks that the most important is to bestow in order to bestow. If he is blessed here, the rest follows by itself.

The third one thinks that the final goal is the most important because we must be rewarded with this blessing.

The verse says, “It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make for him a help made against him.” In other words, his wife will be an aide in fighting against the opposition, which is the evil inclination.

Abraham had Sarah as an aide. For this reason, he wanted Isaac his son to also take for him an aide from his family. As Sarah was his brother’s daughter, Rebecca was the daughter of his brother’s son. By having this aide from the side of his wife, he will achieve the complete wholeness, just as Abraham achieved wholeness, meaning that he was rewarded with the quality of “everything,” which is wholeness.

M. Laitman: Yes, that's basically the short article. Well, we have just two questions. Let's answer them, and then we'll continue further.

Question (Kyiv): (06:45) What does it mean when there is no deficiency at all, that this is a blessing?

M. Laitman: Well, it's in this case that a person truly doesn't have any deficiency. Not because a certain deficiency is not revealed, but because it is not expressed in any way. Meaning, the Creator does not demand anything from him, and not demanding anything from him could be something, this could be a positive quality, or the opposite. Which is why we always bump into the need to explain in what state a person is in.

Student: But the purpose of creation is to receive everything in order to bestow. We need to use all the deficiencies. So how do we turn that deficiency into a blessing?

M. Laitman: It's when you understand and know how to combine the desire to receive with the quality of bestowal. Then you can direct yourself in any way possible, and your actions will always be similar to the Creator.

Student: How is this work built here, that a person has a desire to bestow that gets revealed? How does he add more desire to receive to it?

M. Laitman: That's what we constantly study. But as a person, we don't really understand how we're meant to act. Let's advance and see what others ask.

Question (Turkiye 2): (08:59) What does it mean to bestow to the Creator? What is the role of these actions of bestowing to the Creator?

M. Laitman: Bestowing to the Creator is that we will receive from what He bestows upon us in such a way, that we will use it in this reception, with the intention to bestow upon the Creator. It's something that we use in many states. If we feel that the Creator wants to give to us, and we feel the ability to make a Mitzva, meaning to do the commandment, the action comes from the Creator, and we agree with it, and we receive. That is called that we are doing a Mitzva, a commandment, and the Creator then gives us what He wants to give us. And alongside with it, we feel that we bring Him contentment by that.

Question (Women MAK 19): (10:43) A person who doesn't have a deficiency, how can he hear other voices?

M. Laitman: He will not hear anything. If he hasn't got a deficiency, what will he listen to? The main thing for us is to develop the desire to reach the Creator, to develop the Creator. If we haven't got this desire, then we cannot do anything. Just to pray that the Creator will award us with such a desire, in which we'll be able to reveal what He wants to give us. That's the main thing.

Question (Women Heb 2): (11:50) From our side, is it mostly to give thanks on all levels? Is this your way of everything He wants to give to us?

M. Laitman: No, not just that. We need to want to receive from the Creator, and not because we want to receive it on our own, but because He wants us to receive.

Student: How correctly to understand that not receiving what He wants us to not receive, and how I want to not receive, but nonetheless to receive what He wants us to receive?

M. Laitman: It is said that the person can discover his desires to receive from the Creator only in the case that he wants to use them to bestow to the Creator. That's what we call to receive in order to bestow. So, in such a manner, we need to aim ourselves.

Student: Can I also ask a question? If there is a bad state, and I cannot justify it, but from it I need to do the spiritual work, what do we ask for in order to justify it, to rise?

M. Laitman: So what you feel, that's what you need to ask for correction for.

Question (Women MAK 23): (14:08) I have three questions. First of all, what does it mean to receive that blessing in the Ten?

M. Laitman: It means that in the Ten there is a feeling that it is in connection with the Creator, and that the Creator turns to them, and in such a case they can connect between themselves and aim the connection between them, what is revealed in them, to the Creator. And then they will acquire a connection with the Creator.

Student: Second question, how do we achieve wholeness in the Ten?

M. Laitman: Specifically by each one wanting to receive in order to bestow to the other.

Student: How do we receive that blessing in the connection between a man and a woman that are studying together?

M. Laitman: I think that it's not necessarily between a man and a woman, also between women, between men, it doesn't matter between who. This is how we need to understand the connections in the wisdom of Kabbalah.

Question (Women MAK): (15:42) How do we need to work correctly with the desire to receive, so that in the best possible way we’ll fight against that evil inclination?

M. Laitman: We need to pray to the Creator, to ask from the Creator, that He will give us such a desire to receive, that we will be able to use it in order to bestow to Him. Meaning everything that comes from the Creator, we receive it, and bless Him for making it for us.

Student: I can say these words that the Creator is behind every friend of mine, but how do I pass it into feelings, to truly feel that the Creator is there?

M. Laitman: Ask for it, ask for it. That you want to feel behind each friend the Creator.

Student: How in the Ten can we help each other find that common deficiency through which we can reveal the Creator?

M. Laitman: In the Ten we need to be connected between each other in mutual bestowal, in mutual support, in mutual connection, in mutuality. In such a way, each one in the Ten, whatever each one in the Ten receives, it divides between each one of the friends of the Ten. And if we think in such a way, then we will start feeling ourselves as if we are connected in the Ten. And then each one, even if he receives and somewhat according to his action, according to his prayer from the Creator, he will divide it between everyone.

Student: How each one in the Ten need to help them to connect to this common deficiency in order to please the Creator?

M. Laitman: When you feel a need to turn to the Creator, then you need to draw to yourself as much desire, feeling, connection towards yourself, and between yourself and the friends, and together turn to the Creator, that He will be able to connect you and to fill you, fulfill you.

Student: There are more questions. What is the wife, that desire of trepidation towards the Creator?

M. Laitman: The woman is a connection of the person with the Creator that helps the person to reveal the Creator.

Student: Last question, how in the Ten should we learn to receive a blessing from every side, meaning both from the right and the left? And what does that mean to receive a blessing from all the sides?

M. Laitman: On the side of the women, on the side of the men, on the side of the furthest friends, the closest friends, on the side of the Creator, from all these directions the person needs to yearn to regularize, to maintain the connection with them. And then gradually the feeling will be awakened in him that according to this connection, he can receive fulfillment inside of him.

Question (Women Turkiye 7): (20:41) What should I do with the sadness that a person gets, when he doesn't get all the fulfillment of his deficiency?

M. Laitman: Meaning he’s connected with the friends and the Creator in an incorrect manner.

Question (Women Spain): (21:31) How are these three discernments of the deficiency that he depicts in the article, how is it connected to this concept of a blessing?

M. Laitman: Because if a person, his connection with the Creator is expressed in what he wants to receive in his vessel, and then he feels what the Creator gives him in this vessel, and that transitions it into a blessing to the Creator. He simply blesses the Creator that he received from him. And then it turns out that the Creator blessed the person, and the person blessed the Creator.

Question (Women Ukraine 2): (22:40) You said it means that a person is incorrectly connected to the friends and the surrounding, to the Creator. So the question is, how do we connect correctly?

Student: Connected correctly is when a person wants to receive from the Creator in order to receive it in the quality of bestowal. And the more that he receives, thus he elevates his vessel of reception more and more, and it's counted as he's bestowing more and more.

Student: Bestowal is my intention, correct?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (Women MAK 123): (23:50) In our work we know what it means to be similar to the Creator, and we try to build it in the group. And we feel that we're changing, and we try to pass everything into holiness. But nonetheless, how do we disconnect from our ego, which is constantly growing and growing?

M. Laitman: The ego is not growing beyond what it was when it was created. So don't worry about it too much that the ego is growing. It's simply being revealed more and more, and you need to be happy that the ego is revealed and to relate it to the Creator. It's the Creator that does this with you, and in such a way He gives you the opportunity to correct it, to correct your ego.

Question (Women ITA): (24:58) Every revealed lack is a gift from the Creator for union with Him. Should we use everything in the same spirit, or should we discriminate against what is most precious?

M. Laitman: We need to try to reveal our desires, that we can receive in them, and by that to bless to the Creator, give blessing to the Creator. That's on the one hand. On the other hand, we need to come to a state that we are close to the Creator and we ask of Him to bless us, to give us all the spiritual feelings. And by that, we are blessing Him.

Student: We receive a lot of benediction from the Creator. We must do the same with Him?

M. Laitman: Yes, yes.

Question (Women MAK 51): (27:01) You can help us to understand, what does it mean in the spiritual to take a wife from one's family?

M. Laitman:  It's the connection between the souls. Closer to one another, further away from one another. In relation to our forefathers and our foremothers, they were all in a way relatives, and that's what we read about in the Torah.

Student: In the article, he explains that a wife is a deficiency, a lack.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: Do I understand correctly that we need to have a deficiency of a certain level, which means that this is our family?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: Meaning the deficiency, receiving in order to bestow, that type of deficiency means it comes from a family?

M. Laitman: Yes. Each reception needs to be in order to bestow, and it develops out of our soul.

Question (Women Heb 2): (28:58) Can we say that first is that efforts in separating the desire, and the second one is raising the desire to bestow, and the third part is using it in our environment, specifically how we hold on to bestowal. And all the addition in reception, we nonetheless work and bestow to each other, and this way we build the correct deficiency and the means to receive in order to bestow?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (Women Spain): (29:52) Where does the fear to lose what the Creator has given us come from?

M. Laitman: This fear comes to us from the deficiency of the Kli, that we need to be concerned for us to receive, but not to lose what we receive.

Student: Does it come from the ego?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (Women Kavkaz 1): (30:38) You said that a person needs to open his desire to the Creator, and beforehand I heard that we need to open our vessels completely till there's nothing left. What does it mean? Now in the lesson, how can we do it?

M. Laitman: Let's open our deficiency as much as possible so that everything that the Creator gives, I'll be able to receive it and get fulfilled.

Question (Women Turkiye 10): (31:14) For me, the action of reception always awakens a feeling of shame, embarrassment, and I see that I don't want to receive, and my desire lessens as well. How to receive and not to feel the feeling of shame?

M. Laitman: You need to want to receive from the Creator everything that He gives, in order by that to cause Him contentment, and then you'll be able to receive without any shame.

Question (Women Turkiye 7): (32:12) In regards to what the text depicts here as a deficiency of a woman, is it a deficiency that's created by my will to receive?

M. Laitman: Yes, let's say that it is so, yes.

Student: In the text it says that when there’s no deficiency this is a blessing. Why is this a blessing when there’s no deficiency?

M. Laitman: No, when there’s no deficiency in order to receive, that’s also a blessing, but basically the true deficiency is for there to be a deficiency in us in order to bestow, that's the true deficiency, a big and special one.

Question (Women MAK 70): (34:09) There's a great fear because of my increasing ego to lose the Ten because I really love them, and I feel that I can harm them. So how to live with it, to be with it?

M. Laitman: You need to convince yourself that using desire to come closer to the Creator and to receive from Him, by that, that's the state of the whole Ten. So don't be afraid to ask and receive, and ask for more.

Question (Women MAK 43): (35:03) The transition between the three phases, does it depend on the condition of deficiency and the move from the soul to the vessel?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: Do I receive it through the screens?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (Women French): (35:28) We've got two questions. First question, can I ask the Creator to fulfill the corporeal desire so I'll be in peace and be focused with the friends on the study?

M. Laitman: That the Creator won't hear, because from the start He hears only your prayer for the correction of your vessel. So please arrange this for the Creator such that you ask to correct yourself, in order to bestow and come closer as much as possible to the Creator, and then you ask to receive in order to bestow.

Student: The second question is, how not to be afraid from losing the slightest pleasure that we receive in order to receive, so we can be free and receive everything in order to bestow?

M. Laitman: Think about it, and this will be as a prayer.

Question (Women Spain): (37:20) The question is, when he depicts the study in the article, how could it be that there are multiple opinions? In the article, it says about different opinions, and the friend is asking, what is the relation between that and the deficiency that women have?

M. Laitman: Just continue to ask all the time, pray, all the time, ask.

Question (Women Italy): (38:13) We need to increase the receiving Kli in order to give equally. If this does not happen, what should we do?

M. Laitman: We need to pray. For every deficiency that I want to attain and use, I need to pray for it to get revealed, and that I will have the strength and intellect to use it correctly.

Question (Tbilisi): (39:20) We have some sort of a double work now, the work with the Ten and the internal work. What is the correct way? I'm sure that it will help many couples in Bnei Baruch. How is the correct way to divide the work between the work in the Ten and the work within family and so forth?

M. Laitman: Essentially, it's the same work, you just divide it into several parts. But you try to connect all your requests into one, and then everything will work out wonderfully.

Question (Turkiye 7): (40:23) in the Torah, in spirituality, there is a matter called the women of Midian. How can we understand that? Who are the women of Midian?

M. Laitman: It's all sorts of desires, not big ones, that are within a person which are called such names.

Question (Women MAK 36): (41:05) If a person feels that he is lacking deficiency, is that also a deficiency? How to correctly look for fulfillment in such a deficiency in the Ten?

M. Laitman: Yes, that all belongs to the same thing. How to look in the Ten for such a deficiency? Help your friends in what they need, and you see that in yourself, that by that your desire to receive will disappear.

Question (Qazaqstan-Kyrgyzstan): (41:54) In regards to what to do when the evil inclination is revealed, you recommended giving it to the Creator. What does it mean to give the evil incarnation to the Creator?

M. Laitman: To aspire to come closer to Him with all of one's desires.

Student: How do we do it?

M. Laitman: Is it possible to break one's head as it's called, meaning, without any… conditions, yes, maybe we could say so. Try.

Student: Is that the correct manner to turn to the Creator after the prayer?

M. Laitman: Yes, this will only work through prayer.

Question (Women MAK 25): (43:07) Tell us please, if practically between us there is a new deficiency revealed and we are not organized yet, is it not correct to ask Him to take it away from us? Is this correct?

M. Laitman: Try.

Student: Maybe it's correct to ask Him to help us to conquer it, to use it correctly?

M. Laitman: Maybe your new deficiency will cover the previous one.

Student: And then the prayer for correction would be on the intention to bestow?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (Women Turkiye 9): (43:51) What is the difference between the desire to receive and the ego?

M. Laitman: The desire to receive is the general desire, and the ego is that a person feels his own desire to fill himself up.

Question (Women MAK 26): (44:24) In the article it was said that there are three sections. One, that he is not receiving, two, that he is bestowing in order to bestow, and three, that he is receiving in order to bestow. Is the first state that he is not receiving, being without the two states that are afterwards?

M. Laitman: It could be.

Student: Can it be?

M. Laitman: It could be both the first, second, and third.

Student: Can it be together?

M. Laitman: This is separate. Gradually, he sees which ones he can leave and which ones to carry out.

Student: How can a person come to a state where he’s not receiving? Is it his exact desire, specific desire, or not receiving anything?

M. Laitman: This he needs to make an agreement with the Creator.

Question (Women MAK 97): (45:41) In the state of bestowing in order to bestow, we don't have a deficiency, and in the article it was said that it's a state of blessing. And in that state, can we only raise a prayer of gratitude? How does the transition from the lack of deficiency to the deficiency to receive in order to bestow…?

M. Laitman: If such a desire to receive in order to bestow awakens in you, then you work for it.

Question (Women MAK 23): (46:35) If a man and a woman want to build a family, how can we receive a blessing from the Creator and reach wholeness?

M. Laitman: We still haven't learned it, but essentially it's like between friends.

Student: Can we help each other in the Ten to advance?

M. Laitman: Yes, it's desirable in the same Ten.

Student: We can help each other advance in the Ten.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (MAK 11): (47:18) There are three states. In the article, two of them are depicted. To bestow in order to bestow is not described, or at least I haven't seen it. What is it, and do we need to aspire to reach that state in order to reach receiving in order to bestow after that?

M. Laitman: We necessarily need to go through that state, but the thing is that we don't recognize it clearly. When the time will come and we'll be able to identify it more, then we'll feel how we can reach such a desire.

Question (Women Turkiye 7): (48:12) Continuing a question you gave a friend before, you said that the connection between the friend is not in the right manner. So she said, I thought the connection I made so far was correct. So how do I understand where my mistake is?

M. Laitman: There is no mistake. It could be that towards a certain state, you're in a good state of bestowal, and towards another state, you're in a state that's not so corrected, one of reception.

Question (MAK 24): (49:21) When a person was merited, the feeling that he's already adhered to the Creator and the bestowal that he realizes, he sees it as the gift from the Creator. He has that kind of opportunity. Can he ask to receive it for the sake of others?

M. Laitman: If precisely he bestows and he doesn't have a desire to receive for himself, or he doesn't want to use it, then he can ask to receive for the sake of the friends.

Student: How to determine whether this feeling is real or something imaginary that you invent to yourself?

M. Laitman: We can't, it's impossible. Simply act, and afterwards after your action, you'll feel which of your desires were true and which were false, and what you can do with them.

Student: Today I answered a friend from France. She asked for the world, for the sake of the world, and I felt as if she's very concerned about what's happening in the world, about the friends, about her relatives. And you advised her to ask the Creator, not about the relatives, but about the correction. To me, she seems as if she's corrected, and she need not to ask for any correction for herself.

M. Laitman: It could be. We'll see further.

Question (Women Spain): (51:37) In the physical world, people are connected to each other because they're attracted to each other. In the spiritual world, what is the spiritual force that the article relates to that says that I've made the help against him?

M. Laitman: This is the spiritual force that helps us to correct our desire to receive, and through it, bestow to the Creator.

Question (Women Spa): (52:30) Our question is, how can we learn more about patience and confidence that were in the promises of the Creator, made in the story of Abraham and Sarah?

M. Laitman: Read a few times what's written in the Torah about Abraham and Sarah, and see if you’re coming closer to their state.

Question (Women MAK 30): (53:16) Because we're women, we have this desire and it turned out that we need to work on it. Is that the intention within the Ten that we need to correct this desire, or do we need to work on the prayer?

M. Laitman: On the prayer, for us to all be connected together in the Ten in one prayer.

Student: What does it mean that she needs to be the same yearning as her man, as her partner?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (Women Turkiye 7): (54:19) What is the covenant one must make with the Creator in order to stop taking for oneself?

M. Laitman: That he understands that this is what the Creator wants from him, for him not to receive for himself. And only after that can he reach the quality of bestowal.

Question (Women ITA): (54:51) Lack of desire does not reveal our shortcomings. How to increase desires as if they were infinite?

M. Laitman: So then they will grow, but only on the condition that you answer correctly on the previous deficiency.

Question (Women Rehovot 1): (55:31) My daughter was in my previous Ten, and you said, you gave an answer now, that there is a connection between the souls, that they are from the same family. It wasn't so, how to say, welcomed. And I understood that specifically in the Ten, is it welcome to have a family member in the Ten?

Reader: I can add, from the Ten, I have the same family example. I am one Ten, and I have a son who is in a Ten, and he is on a different Ten. Also, my wife is in one Ten, and my daughter is in a different Ten. And that's the best way.

Question (Hadera 1): (56:36) To come to the stage of Lishma, is not to receive or to bestow in order to bestow?

M. Laitman: To reach Lishma, it's first of all not to receive. And to bestow in order to bestow, that's already a higher degree, the degree of Bina.

Question (Women MAK 19): (57:25) We have a question from the preparation for the noon lesson. How can we unite these three states within us in recognition, in conscience?

M. Laitman: You need to pass through and exam and then to taste all of these states, and to see in which of these to separate. And then you'll be able to turn with them to the Creator.

Question (Women MAK 26): (58:02) A question from a friend. Asking for the friend and to see that she is bestowing, that awakens gratitude and joy. Could that be receiving in order to bestow?

M. Laitman: It could be.

Question (Woman Kyiv 7): (58:32) What prayer is in the middle line? It’s only a prayer of gratitude?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (Women Heb 2): (58:48) Two questions, if it's possible. One on the topic of blessing. When I bless the food or whatever I receive, does it count as a blessing in order to bestow?

Reader: The friend asked, when I bless for the food that I receive or for something else that I receive, is it counted in something as if it's receiving in order to bestow?

M. Laitman: No.

Question (Women Eng 1): (59:37) Is bestowing, for the sake of bestowing, the spiritual goal that we should be in for? Is that what we need to...

M. Laitman: Yes, that's the clean goal. I'm sorry, I'm being taken out of the broadcast until tomorrow.
