Reader: We are going to study together from a TES lesson with Rabash. We'll be reading from Volume 2, Part 5, Item 40.

Reading: (00:33) Baal HaSulam. "Study of the Ten Sefirot" (TES). Vol. 2. Part 5. #40

40. Afterwards, the light returns light returns to being Matei in Keter, and then both HB ascend there because of the desire they have. Then you find that there is a great distance between the sons and the light of GAR, for there are two distances between them, Bina, and Hochma, in which there is no light. Hence, at that time, the light of Hesed rises to Bina and is called not Matei in Hesed. In that state, the vessel of Hesed turns its anterior and gives the six lights below in Gevura.

RABASH: You get confused, the posterior and anterior of the screen and the posterior and anterior of the Kli. I want to find now a difference between when I say the face and posterior of the screen and face and posterior of the qualities of the vessel. You can say, even Bina, who has phase two and receives from Hochma; and phase one, that has the vessel of Bina, that's from phase one, don't forget about that. And what do you do now that it will be expanding in Hochma? But as long as Hochma has phase two. Phase two of Hochma does not get refined before phase two of Bina is refined together with phase two of Hochma, and then the question is asked: The question, when does phase one, Hochma, has enough to be able to give to the vessel of Hesed? If I say that before phase two was refined, when phase two of Bina was refined, and phase two of Hochma, and phase three of Hochma, then there's no Hochma in the degree. It's not expanding in the degree, in the Hochma, how can it give Hochma to the vessel of Hesed? So, he wants to say here that when the vessel of Hochma was refined from phase three over two to one, and vessel of Bina from phase two to one. And it's still not expanding in Keter, that they now have to rise to the Keter, and make a Zivug, a coupling on phase four over three. There's still no control for the Bina to rise to Keter, we have to say that there's no Hochma in this degree; but as long as there's no expansion in Keter, meaning the light of Keter, that is below in Malchut of Rosh, upon phase four of Kli of Keter. So there will be only Hassadim in the degree and not Hochma, then there still is Hochma in the degree. The Bina that was refined from two to one cannot yet give Hesed the Hochma, so here, when three two of the vessel of Hochma, Bina, rose to Keter, it became Mati in Keter, and then there's Hassadim, and there's no Hochma in Keter, so she gives the difference of Gevura and rises to Bina, and receives Hesed, that's the difference.

Student: (05:24) What's the difference between stage one and stage two?

RABASH: In the first stage we learn that there's a vessel of Hochma, Gimel and then three, and then it refines to being phase two. The question is asked: We said that the vessel of Hochma has two-two, does it still have Hochma, it doesn't have Hochma? It has Hochma, okay. And then she gives to it, what to Bina? From phase two, from her two bits, from her two-twos. So, the two is the level of male that emerged on two twos, and gives him, it gives it to Bina – is there Hochma there or not? We learned that no, because as we learned, it was delighted in mercy. Okay, so he gives an explanation to this:

In Hochma there still is two-two.

In Bina, what is there, two alone, that's one stage, yes?

In the first stage, when the Kli of Hochma gives to Bina,

So she's not expanding in Hochma, so there's no Hochma that's refined, there's nothing; in Hochma, there's something, nothing. Not three and not two, three is refined first, and two is refined now.

If so, phase one, who received now Bina from Hochma, it's called a baby who needs his mother.

Where even the mother wants to give Hochma to who? To phase one, there isn't, why? Phase two was refined of coarseness of the vessel of Hochma, so in the vessel of Hochma, there is nothing.

It turns out that even though phase one of the vessel of Bina wants to give it to her sons, she doesn't have.

There's no Hochma in that degree, Hochma has been refined from the degree.

And we can say then that when two, one of the vessel of Hochma,

Meaning when the vessel of Hochma remained in two-one,

Then her three-two rises to the vessel of Keter and expands in Keter.

So there I learn, expanding in the Keter and does not expand in Hochma and expands in Bina, the thing is over. What's in Bina, two of clothing and one of coarseness. Another point, here, a question is asked: When I say that phase two of coarseness has been refined in the vessel of Hochma upon phase two of coarseness, light emerged. If this light departs, this light remains. The whole level emerged upon phase two of coarseness in the vessel of Hochma. The phase two of coarseness, there isn't now, if there's existence for this light or not; or I would say that phase two of clothing of the vessel of Bina, only because of two of clothing, it's considered female in the measure, and this light did not emerge upon the phase of coarseness. We should say that it doesn't have, that's what is obliged here from this situation – we'll leave that on the side.

First of all, what does Bina have now? Phase two of clothing, and it has two of clothing and cannot give to the vessel of Hesed.

It turns out that she cannot give to the vessel of Hesed from the two phases.

For two reasons. One, of two of clothing. Two, there's no Hochma. It's considered a baby who needs his mother. Also a question: When Hochma departed two-one, refined, then I have no Hochma. So, there's no point of Hochma refining to two-one, or there's no Hochma there because two-three of the vessel of Hochma rose to Keter, and then they expanded in Keter. But the upper one, there's no Hochma, so therefore, there's no Bina in Hochma. Also, same question. Or we can say that two-one still remained

RABASH: (10:29) Or we can say, that while phase two and one refined, there's no longer Hochma, although it will sit in a different way. What's the question? If I say that three-two has been refined in the vessel of Hochma, it's already considered not expanding in Hochma. Or there still could be Hochma in the degree as long as it did not expand in Keter. So the question is asked here: Why doesn't it give, for the time being, Hochma to the vessel of Bina, if I were to say it that way? Phase one already has. To receive Hochma from whom, from two-one, from three-two that have been refined in the vessel of Hochma? We'll leave that on the side. Let's move to the second stage.

What was in the second stage? We learned now that three-two of the vessel of Hochma rose to the vessel of Keter, and became expanding in Keter, and we learned that expanding in Keter, and not expanding in Hochma, and expanding in Bina, does not expand in Hesed, thus far. What was there in the second stage? When four-three refined of Keter, and became three-two in the vessel of Hochma, here he brings an innovation. When Hochma illuminates, he comes and says, Bina rises to Hochma, what's the meaning of these words – Bina and Hochma? So he says, now that he already has phase one for the benefit of the sons, she changes her phase, her discernment, and now she expands in Hochma. Hochma has three-two. So she receives Hochma in the vessel of Hochma. Why is there Hochma in the degree, and Bina changes her way for the sake of the phase one that's in her. So now I'm saying, when I say that there's Hochma in Hochma, I can understand that there's the light of Hochma in the vessel of Bina, next.

Now I learned that Bina needs to be refined from phase two of clothing of hers to only be phase one in order to give Zeir Anpin the light of Hochma, only upon phase one. So we learn, two of Bina has been refined to one; prior to that, she turned her interior to receive Hochma for the sons. And now that she already has Hochma for the sons, then it's a must for her to be refined, to give something for the sons. Before she has Hochma for the sons, what's the benefit of being refined? One way or another, she cannot give birth to her sons. Whereas now, she already has Hochma, why, when it illuminates in Hochma upon phase two of coarseness, three-two, I can say that what is in Hochma that was refined? That's why I'm saying that Bina that has Hochma for the sons is refined from two to one; then, her two rose to the vessel of Hochma. It turns out that in the stage we're learning now, not expanding in Keter, expanding in Hochma and Bina has been cancelled, received Hochma, and then has been refined to one; afterwards, she is given Hesed. It turns out that it doesn't expand in Keter, it expands in Hochma, it doesn't expand in Bina, Bina rose to Hochma, expands in Hesed, and that's the second stage.

Student: (15:15) You're saying there's Hochma in this because of the desire for the beating?

RABASH: No. Now, stage three, after Bina rose her phase two to Hochma, then Hochma was also refined due to the clashing. So, now Hochma is where Hochma has been refined and Bina has been refined, and they all rose to Keter, and they expand in Keter. When the expansion in Keter happens, now it illuminates Hassadim, so there's no Hochma; not in Hochma, she rose upwards, not in Bina, she rose upwards. Not in Hesed, there's no Hochma. It turns out that her remnants, what's remained of Hesed, there's only Hassadim there and no Hochma. We need to remember the rule. In each and every Sefira, we discern two inclusive phases. One of Hochma and one of Hassadim. This depends on the level of that degree, we call this in the law; hence, the Hassadim that remain in the vessel of Hesed, she can give to Gevura. It turns out that in phase three, we learn it expands in Keter, does not expand in Hochma, and does not expand in Bina, and does not expand in Hesed, and expands in Gevura.

Student: When I say, the question is this way, again, the question: When I say that Bina rises to Hochma, then Hochma is refined, yes or no?

RABASH: Not yet, Bina, in her place, when there's phase one can receive Hochma from Hochma? Yes, why not, only what? She cannot exit outwards because Bina, phase two, so she wants to give Hesed, it must be all one. So we learn, Bina is refined from two in the clothing of one. And then this is considered two things, Bina is coupled with Hochma and receives Hochma, after she receives Hochma, it already has what to give to her sons. and she already has to give to her sons, she refines to phase one; it turns out that after that, where I can learn, expands in Hochma, three-two, illuminates. And where Bina refines, does not touch them, it doesn't touch, it has nothing to, no bearing on them. It turns out that the upper one has the ability to learn now easier – easier, that you think, yes? What's more important, do you think here – I must say that the vessel of Hochma refined before Bina. In the first stage, I have to say this way, why? There was no reality for the vessels yet; now that there is a reality of vessels, I can learn that when it expands in Hochma, three, two, then the vessel of Bina that has delighted in mercy is phase one, her sons. She changes her ways for the sons and receives Hochma from whom? As now it expands in Hochma, there's three-two, I'm saying. And afterwards, when I say that since there is what to give to the sons, she has the illumination of Hochma, that's why she is refined from two to one, in order to give it Hesed, and the matter is over.

Now, who causes there to be an expansion in Hochma? The beating. So they say that after the beating, they ascend and it becomes expanding in Keter, and still there's no Hochma. And then I say, the order, expanding in Keter, not expanding in Hochma, doesn't expand in Bina, and doesn't expand in Hesed. It expands in Gevura, and now it's easier.

Student: (20:02) Not easier.

RABASH: And it turns out, below, we're reading below, your question we'll see later.

When Bina bestowed the light of Hesed to the vessel of Hesed,

What did it bestow it again? The light of Hochma upon phase one, so I must say, Bina was refined from two to one, otherwise, there's no equivalence of form. There was a whole order of gradual refinement, here. First, Keter was refined from phase three to phase two, at which time the light of Keter disappeared to the root and gave phase two to the vessel of Hochma. Then it's considered expanding in Hochma. And I can add, there's phase three of clothing, and phase two of coarseness, everything. Then we learn the vessel of Bina, while it has phase two, it already has a phase within it. Then the vessel of Bina united with it, with the vessel of Hochma, into one, why? Since there's already Hochma.

So now it's considered that Hochma, for the benefit of the sons, goes and receives Hochma – now that Bina has Hochma to give to Hesed, and how can she give to Hesed phase two – and then phase two was also refined of Bina to phase one. At that time, she gave what, what did she give to phase one, to Hesed, we need to say? Hochma. So he says it this way. And then they disappeared, I say it this way: And phase two was also refined to phase one. And phase one is bestowed upon the vessels of Hesed in illumination of Hochma. And then the lights and the vessels of Hochma, Bina, the Keter, due to the beating, and then it becomes expanding Keter, okay? The question is like this, What does it give us that we say that it remains this way in the Kli of Bina? First, we say that before Bina is delighted in mercy, she received the level from Hochma at the first stage upon the Hassadim due to being delighted in mercy. Then we learn that the second phase of the vessel of Hochma was refined to phase one, and she received the sons. Now that she received the sons, there is no longer Hochma in the degree. And we learn that three-two that have been refined from the vessel of Hochma that gave one to who? To Bina, if it was not refined, there's no one in Bina; so they rose to Keter and became expanding in Keter. And it became expanding in Keter, not expanding in Hochma, expanding in Bina, and what's in Bina now? Her phase two, and phase one of the son without Hassadim, Hochma. Then in the second stage we learn, again, it becomes not expanding in Keter, it refines the screen, and once again it expands in Hochma, three- two.
