341. “And from within it, like a HASHMAL from within the fire.” HASHMAL means Hayot Esh Memalelot [animals of fire that murmur], a shining brightness, ascending and descending, blazing fire, standing and not standing, and there is no one who can stand in it in one place. The eyes and the vision cannot govern it; it is here, and it is gone; it is in this place, and behold, it is in another place, it ascends, and behold, it descends. In this vision, whatever is concealed is concealed, and whatever is hidden is hidden.
342. It is called HASHMAL since the prophet had to see inside it, to know and behold the purity of the heart, and the eye is more closed than anything, and may he be able to withstand it.
343. All that Ezekiel observed so as to look and to know, is all in the mirror that does not shine, Malchut. But in the mirror that shines, ZA, no prophet has merited looking but Moses, for all the keys to the house were in his hand. The rest of the prophets, when they reached that HASHMAL to look inside, their minds were startled, their hearts were disquieted, and they went out from all the reason of the body. At that time, they saw what they saw inside in a whisper.
344. HASHMAL has the color of fire, blazing and sparkling, ascending and descending, glittering and blazing. From one side, one sparkling comes out in a glittering and blazing mirror. He was and was not, standing and not standing, and similarly, another sparkling comes out from this side and one from that side, and so forth to the four sides corresponding to the three lines and Malchut who receives them.
345. This speaks to that, and that speaks to this, and likewise all four sides until they become one. At that time, glitters are glittering in one glittering that ascends and descends, walks and stands, is seen and unseen. Here she is, and he she is not. No one withstands her. The sparks return in a vision of speaking animals as before. The mind is startled in it, and the heart will not be quiet. This is the HASHMAL.
