Sports vs. Politics

Kabbalist Dr. Michael Laitman and Oren Levi discuss the way sports and the Olympic Games have become politicized in our era. Below is a loose transcript of the talk… Oren Levi: The U.S. and other countries are boycotting the upcoming Winter Olympic Games in China to draw attention to the violation of human rights. In the past, sports were unrelated to politics. In ancient Greece, all wars stopped during the Olympic Games. What stops us today from putting all of our disputes aside? Kabbalist Dr. Michael Laitrman: We don't need these games because the games themselves became a competition of country against country. These are no longer connecting games. Competition became war. A pure sports competition is supposed to raise the human spirit. It shows the human achievements in challenging our human limitations and rising above them. When all of us aim toward this kind of elation, it brings us closer to each other because then I don't care who wins. The main thing is to show the world how great humans can be. How great can a human be? Internally, like God, meaning that a human is unlimited and can grow to be like God. To be like the Creator means to embrace everyone because this is what the Creator does. This is truly the greatest Olympic title.
