Tohar Butbul is an Israeli-Arab judoka who won two matches at the Olympics without even partaking in a single fight. The reason is that an Algerian judoka followed by a Sudanese wrestler both withdrew from the competition, in order not to fight an Israeli. The Algerian athlete said, "We will not dirty our hands with the Israeli flag,” after having practiced for years to get to the Olympics, only to throw it all away in order not to fight an Israeli.
We must learn from these cases, just how immersed we really are in our egoistic desires. We don't want to do anything that nature obliges us to do, which is to reach out to everyone, bestow to everyone, love everyone.
One needs only to look at all the hate that’s going on in the Israeli parliament, on the streets and everywhere, how the Jews all around the world hate each other, constantly in egoistic competition with one another. All the “toxic relationships” we see in the world are a direct result of the terrible relations between the people of Israel.
The nation of Israel is in the centre of the world and there will be no peace in the world until there is peace among the people of Israel. We are a chosen group that determines the state of the world. This concept must be understood in relation to the structure of the world, which is determined by nature. All our kabbalistic sources say that when Israel is disunited, it causes harm to everyone, and it is hated by everyone. When Israel is connected as “one man with one heart,” then they connect to the upper force. By doing so, they draw the entire world to themselves and thus gain respect such that others will want to be like them, as one united force.
