Part 3:

Baal HaSulam. "Study of the Ten Sefirot" (TES). Vol. 1. Part 3. Chapter Fifteen. #1 ("After you have learned all that in general,")

Reading (00:24) “Chapter Fifteen - 1. There aren’t five vessels of the five phases to NRNHY”

1. S. (01:21) What is he saying it is not clear that there are no 5 vessels that correspond with NRNHY?

R. There are not five vessels for the five phases of NRNHY, that is what happens in the worlds in we say that there are five vessels of five lights but in the worlds, they have states that you don’t have, after you have learned all this in general your eyes, should be open so you don't err in what is written about and seeing that just as there are five phases of NRNHY in every Partzuf and world called internality that there are also five corresponding phases of vessels. It is not, this is not the case, meaning that we don't have all the vessels for the inner and surrounding light. Let's say we have five inner vessels and two external devices, so let's keep going.

Reading continues: (02:35) “Item 1 and 2 - There are only three vessels...”

2. R. (03:33) We see in the world of ABYA there is only NRN can be some can be clothed in the internal vessels and Haya and Yechida do not have internal vessels, only the surrounding ones. We don't have such screens and abilities to sustain those surrounding lights to bestow in the desire.

Reading (04:13) Item #3 “3. The three vessels of NRN are regarded as,...”

3. S. (05:03) How does a Kabbalist distinguish between these three lights and the two others? Meaning, are there some lights that have vessels and some who don't?

R. Depends on the will to receive as much as he can correct it in order to bestow. So, if he could correct small desires so there's NRN, small desires, small lights can receive in order to bestow. Haya and Yechida he cannot receive in order to bestow and that's why they received them and those remain outside of the Partzuf as surrounding light.

S. What does it mean that the lights that are so big that he cannot receive them?

R. Because the lights of NRN are accepted in vessels of bestowal and meaning small coarseness, Root 1 and 2 or zero 1 and 2 but the lights Haya and Yechida, we can only receive them in very strong and coarse vessels that got that have the coarseness of 3 + 4 and that's why it is a problem. There is not a sufficient upper light that bestows on the desire in order to organize the desire in order to bestow and then the desire doesn’t work in order to bestow, does not work in anything, it stops itself from working with the upper light, in receiving the upper light. That's why there are vessels for the lights of NRN but the vessels for Haya, Yechida, they don't have the screen in order to bestow and they don't receive and then these lights remain external, outside the Partzuf.

S. Is that in all degrees?

R. No, he says there are these states and those states, in the final correction all the lights have to enter all the vessels. For now until the end of correction, they're all kinds of different states, one light in the vessel, two, three but the lights of Hochma which is Haya and Yechida, you cannot receive it until the end of correction.

S. How is he able to understand that he can’t receive the lights that this I can, that I can't, start feeling for what is capable?

R. Imagine that you are sitting there before the hosts and calculate are you doing this for the host?

S. Meaning he decides?

R. Yes, just like you take something to your mouth, and you calculate, can you hold your intention for the host and then you swallow, calculate.

S. These flavors he discovers, these lights they have connection with the Creator, flavors of connection with the group?

R. Yes, imagine to yourself that you could you came from Kiev to me, the way you used to be, and I'll give you something to eat and now you have to calculate. You're starving on one hand; on the other hand you have an opportunity to receive in order to bestow me contentment. It doesn't matter to me the most important is that you enjoy, and the main thing is to enjoy but for you it is important that now you gain an opportunity to bestow to me, so calculate please. Simple things.

S. Let me ask correctly that you help me hold myself?

R. How can I help you?

S. Give me the force, the screen.

R. I just want to show you more of my importance, but more my importance, that you, that it'll be easy for you to do something for me. So, I can clothe in nice garments, and I can bestow in a way that I put many people next to me, all Bnei Baruch will be standing behind me, beside me, sitting at the table beside me. This is something I can do but in that I am actually stealing your exertion, your work.

S. That's what we probably need to do, to enlarge you.

R. if you want please then you can bestow to any friend in such a way, it is called from the love of the created beings to the love of the Creator.

4. S. (11:34) There are no lights with no vessels, meaning there are vessels, but they are not revealed?

R. Yes, the vessels are there but you cannot use them, you are right.

5. S. (11:59) He writes shortly that there are three vessels external, medial, and internal. I have a question. A lot of The Zohar is about that so what is the difference if you read that sentence here or there?

R. It depends on the one reading, for now it is not for us.

6. S. (12:28) One of the most prominent things that I have attained in the study is a lot of the discernments in my ego. Is it right to relate to that as all kinds of lights?

R. Don't go and picking inside yourself, better it is to go to the friends and connect with the Creator.

7. S. (12:53) With the example of the landlord and the guest, is it true to say that the guest does the calculation and then he restricts again, and he does it again and again. Meaning he will try and receive the pleasures from the landlord but then he will restrict again because he cannot handle it, is that true to say that?

R. Yes.

S. You do this to every degree?

R. On every degree new, yes, yes.

Reading Item #4 (13:39) “The direct light expands from above...”

Reading Item #5 (14:47) “However, the reflected light is a square such as that...”

8. R. (15:20) So he is speaking about the direct light descending into the Partzuf and reflected light that comes back, so as much as they complete one another.

Continues: (15:32) “There is interior and exterior in….”

9. R. (15:53) That only on the vessels it can be revealed.

Reading Item #6 (15:58) “ We should thoroughly understand the truth..”

10. R. (16:30) He doesn't even give us inner light here. We reach Inner Observation, Histaklut Pnimi on part 3 so, let's read it.

Reading (17:06) “Inner Observation - Direct Light and Reflected Light, containing….”

Reading (21:02) Item #2 “There are thirteen kinds of….”

Reading (21:52) Item #3 “There is no degree that does not contain ten Sefirot….”

11. S. (22:59) Why is it that when he mentions the world BYA he doesn't mention Adam Kadmon?

R. Keter does not count as a degree, it is the Rosh that is above everything, there are places that we do count the Keter in one Sefira with the Guf and there are cases where we don’t because it doesn't belong to the Guf, the Guf is a result of the Keter from the Rosh.

12. S. (23:52) Can you clarify what it means that there are some kind of degrees within Ein Sof itself?

R. Ein Sof means there is no attainment, no clear attainment, that's why we discern something in there and then we don't. That's why we don't study about it, and we don't talk about it, we say Ein Sof means there are no limits, no attainment because attainment is always through limits, borders.

13. S. (24:38) He writes here that every illumination has 10 Sefirot of direct light and then there is also in every illumination the five light of NRNHY, in every illumination direct light?

R. In every degree that you look at you have five phases or ten Sefirot, NRNHY of direct light and NRNHY of the opposite, you have screens. Everything is in each and every degree, a degree is called 10 Sefirot, a degree is called ten because less or more than that it can’t be. That's how it happens.

S. So, can we also relate that to the previous chapter if every illumination has NRNHY how come we cannot attain Haya and Yechida?

R. There are no vessels, the light doesn't come in order to give the will to receive a screen. That will to receive in order to attain the light Haya and Yechida must be in order to bestow with the intention to bestow which is very strong and great, and the lights don’t reach that will to receive that's why they will receive cannot aim in order to bestow in the desires 3 and 4 that's why it cannot attain the lights Haya and Yechida.

S. So I can only be in the reflected light?

R. Attainment is in the reflected light, all the attainment it's in the reflected light. From the restriction, the first restriction and onward, what the vessel receives is only in the condition that can restrict yourselves and reject himself in order to bestow, as much as he performs reflected light then according with that he can receive inside. Because then it is called what it receives is an adhesion, only in rejection, and that's the way it happens. It is the condition of receiving the light, that's why the wisdom of Kabbalah explains how to prepare ourselves to receive the upper light that is prepared to clothe in us only in order to bestow.

R. Okay friends, we won’t start chapter 2 of Inner Observation, we will continue tomorrow and that's it for now.
