Baal HaSulam - The Arvut (Mutual Guarantee), #22
1.R. Basically, this is the article that talks about our connection with the 10 and our connection with the Creator and therefore Baal HaSulam made it as the second part of the article MatanTorah, the Giving of the Torah. The Giving of the Torah basically comes from above to the Created beings and the Arvut is what the created beings have to stabilize between them in order to connect in return to the Creator to achieve adhesion with each other that will be called the final correction. So, let’s see what continues.
In order to connect in return to the Creator to attain connection between each other which will be called the final correction.
Item 22 “And this is what Rabbi Elazar, son of Rabbi Shimon,”
2. R. (04:28) Here he explains to us something very severe which exists in the general correction of the world: that each one is responsible for everyone and each one is also a result of everyone. This is clear if the system is integral and global and we are all connected to each other as we were to begin with, then, it can't be any other way. After the shattering, each one of the people of the world has his own desire but he also includes all of the desires of the others, this is why man is called a ‘small world’ because what he corrects is actually the complete incorporation of the general desire of all of the people of the world, in him, and the same with each and everyone. When we begin to tie together all of these things then, from all of these combinations; when we connect all of them, we come to truly make the Creator greater in us, 620 times more. Meaning that we can really feel and attain Him, to bring Him out of his concealment and bring Him closer to us and to be fulfilled by Him with our great vessel. Basically, that each one should first discover that he consists of everyone else and in this incorporation, that happened from the shattering of the vessel basically determines all of the spiritual laws for us; Why do we need to care about this, to think about each other and to get closer and so forth? Getting closer to each other is necessary in order to discover the Creator to make room for Him to be revealed, otherwise we just don't attain any goal and we don't reach and bring contentment to the Creator either.
3. S. (07:03) Can one determine and influence the whole world?
R. Of course the particular and the collective are equal.
S. So how can one influence all?
R. In spirituality they are all equal.
S. How do you explain that?
R. The Judgment of a penny is the judgment of 100.
S. You say that we Bnei Baruch can influence the whole world?
R. I'll tell you even more, if one 10 of ours will achieve correction, it will cause a correction in the whole world. Not the final Corrections yet, because this requires that everyone else would do the same thing in there 10, but in that way we will move forward.
S. So in Bnei Baruch we don't have one 10 right now?
R. That moves to the final correction? No.
4. S. (09:06) Our mutual guarantee to humanity is our dissemination?
R. No, we are connected to the system of all of the souls, this system includes all the souls that ever existed in the vessel of Adam, not just the people who are living in this world, it is much more than that. When we work, we influence everyone else, because the connection between everyone did not stop. So, we have to see the great responsibility upon us here, that we are like the pioneers of this whole process and that is how we need to make the correction, this is a great responsibility on each one and every ten.
5. S. (10:30) Baal HaSulam writes that the sinner takes the sesame seed, the efforts of the friends and puts them on the scales and I understand that the sinner is myself by not investing enough in the 10. What needs to influence me that I at least I won't take, I'm speaking about giving but at least not to take?
R. Each time, better and better to incorporate with what Baal HaSulam writes and talk about it with the friends and make this effort. This is the work of the heart. I don't have any more to say on this. The more you think about it, the more you can realize it.
S. In the last paragraph it is written because he couldn't help himself for his petty pleasures, he caused the whole world to go backwards, what are these lusts?
R. These are all the thoughts that are in order to receive, that detach you from the work in the group, that you don't think about the friends or you think about them less than you think about yourself. The most important is the connection, to bring to the Creator a connection between us so that he will be happy with that, that’s it.
6. S. (12:39) Out of 8 billion people, we don't have one person who doesn't overcome his lusts and he push everyone backwards?
R. Each and every one of course, why do you think there is one? I'm saying that everyone is rejecting the spiritual progress, the positive connection between people, the correct attitude to life and the Creator, being immersed in self-love, egoistic love. Even more than that, they want to do harm to others and that is the revelation of evil that exists in the collective vessel of Adam. Now it is actually becoming revealed, this against that and the more that we advance towards the end of correction then, these problems will be greater, one opposite the other. Wars and hatred and rejection that will appear as we move closer to the final correction, will be very dramatic and great. The more the will to receive becomes revealed the more all of the problems will arise. But we will go through this, don't think about that, think about what we need to do here and now.
7. S. (10:38) A person can't fix his incorporation with all the billions in this world, so what was he given to correct?
R. He needs to correct the integration with all the souls in the world.
S. But I'm not in contact with all of them?
R. You don't need physical connection, we're not even going to have this with our own tens, you'll see what the Creator will do, He will advance us toward spiritual connection and for that He is going to put us in such states, that we won't be able to connect in a corporeal way.
S. In a spiritual connection I connect with all the billions in the world?
R. No problem, just like the internet works.
8. S. (15:45) How can we use the mutual guarantee to annul ourselves in the 10?
R. We are responsible for each other to begin with. We were incorporated like that in Adam HaRishon as just one mass, when that one mass started separating then all of the connections were torn and now, we have to try to come closer to each other, in thought and desire, not in a physical way. Then when we begin to see the system, how it needs to be integrated and interdependent and connected. We begin to see what we are supposed to do as human beings in this world. Besides the system of dissemination that we talk about and explain to everyone, that this is what we have to do, we basically need nothing else. If people will know that the future of the world, like it or not, depends on our connection to each other. If people will know that Nature/God in Gematria (a kabbalistic numerical system), the upper force, is pushing us towards the right connection between us. If we don't want this then accordingly, we feel that we are in trouble, sufferings, wars and so on... soon we will see these blows happening on behalf of the global nature, as heat waves, floods, fires and other conditions, as a result of that there will be hunger, joblessness and so on. The world is already entering such a phase, where the people have to be pushed towards corrections, that the Creator has no other possibilities. He is not going to change the purpose of creation, rather he has to bring people to an understanding of what is important to them in life. We also see this now, how all of us are rolling into more and more difficult states. We have to explain to ourselves and to everyone else that it all depends on the measure of the right connection between us and if we begin to even just have an interest in that, in the connection between us, what does it need to be, as the article teaches us, then, we will all benefit good life and achieve corrections and the final correction, ultimately. You see there are two articles here: Matan Torah, the giving of the Torah from above, and Arvut, what we need to do correspondingly from below. If we will try to understand these two primary articles of Baal HaSulam, it will influence us for the better.
9. S. (20:08) From what we read it is clear that each one of us has a potential, a great potential that also organizes everything in the 10 and the world, but I see all myself that I can't believe it. What thought has to come here to use this great potential?
R. You only need to realize it in the 10, don't try to bring it to the world. To the world you can spread this as just a general knowledge, that this is what is written and this is what needs to happen because nature is globally integrated but basically the main place to realize it is in the 10. The 10 is after all a mini model of humanity, we will be able to do something there. Then out of the 10, out of this network that exists in us, from there, we will begin to understand what is happening and how it is happening. I look at the world through the 10 and then I can understand what is going on with all of the different forms of nature and all of the different problems and changes, as if I have some glasses that allow me to see the truth and that is what we need first. We ourselves will also move closer and closer to the corrected state.
10. S. (22:22) To the extent that we come closer to bestow the desire to receive, receive less, what will motivate us?
R. The truth. Our fuel is the truth. Alef, Mem, Tav, the letters that spell Emet / truth, those 3 letters include in them all of creation, all of the vessels and that is what I have to attain. That is how I attain the whole essence of creation, adhesion with the Creator.
11. S. (23:21) When you said that people in a broad public will walk around with their connection with the 10 which I now heard, is like glasses through which I can see and understand the world; Does this mean that we are at a time where we can right from the beginning direct people towards tens?
R. First of all adhere yourself to the 10 in the correct way, acquire good experience to reach success in it, that you discover the Creator in your 10 and then you can advance from there onwards.

R.
We
need
to
be
connected
in
the
10
in
a
way,
that
you
will
feel
all
of
these
little
changes
that
you
can
cause
for
the
good
or
God
forbid
for
the
bad
and
that
will
watch
over
you,
the
general
atmosphere
in
the
10.
In
this
way,
everyone
is
connected
and
concerned
about
the
inner
balance
of
the
10.

13. S. (29:05) Do we need Torah to reach mutual guarantee?
R. I don't know what you mean by Torah and I don't know what you understand about Arvut, if the correct connections between the shattered parts above the egoistic forces that remove each one further away from each other, that we need to connect with spiritual higher powers above the forces of rejection to use the forces of connection then this net will be called mutual guarantee and by this we help each other. So, think what can help you.
S. We received Torah after we received Arvut so what can help us to achieve the mutual connection?
R. We received the Torah because we have no choice, we must go through the recognition of evil that we want to get rid of the evil, the ego. First, we start with this condition to understand what could be attained by Torah.
14. S. (30:43) We just read in the article that a person who is drawn to his lusts pushes the whole world backwards on the scale so how much does it influence the work in the 10 if a person chases his lusts?
R. Look, everyone has habits, small lusts, corporeal ones that his body likes and demands. We are not speaking about all of that, we're talking about as much as a person who understands his nature somewhat still is constantly in a struggle to prefer connection in the 10 and by that give contentment to the Creator above what he has to help his body exist.
S. By that he influences the whole world?
R. Yes, in the relation between the desire for the spiritual actions compared to being drawn to corporeality by that he also affects the whole world. He is connected with all earth dwellers.
S. They feel this all of them that they caused the descent?
R. Nobody feels it but it is happening, it happens to their vessels.
15. S. (32:35) Why does the self-realization of the person bring contentment to the Creator?
R. Because everything that we need to do, our actions of correction, actions of correction are the connection between us and not that each one takes care of himself, it is the opposite of the correction as by that a person broadens the shattering.
S. The laws of the mutual guarantee that we learn and try to realize between us daily ultimately these laws will include all of the human race?
R. Yes.
S. So this is the same?
R. Yes.
16. S. (33:53) Can we get a practical example for the sesame seeds when one puts the sesame seed and the other friend takes it?
R. Each and every one of us as much as he causes connection, that by this he realizes the correction back to the network of Adam but it will be stronger and more powerful, 620 times more. Then each one who does this performs a correction of the soul on his behalf and that is how each one has to get to it. We will soon feel as much as the Creator pushes us to it with all kinds of means from easy ones to very difficult ones.
S. You gave an example before that you didn't feel well, you thought you wouldn't be able to connect to the 10 meeting and in the end, you did, is this an example of a sesame seed that you added?
R. Also towards such actions, let's say yes.
S. It is unclear what does a sesame seed is in the 10, do we influence it?
R. You're right, everything that I can add towards the connection with the friends, yes, that we advance the general whole vessel that the Creator can be revealed in.
17. S. (35:59) What does it mean that we take care about the tens progressing towards the conditions of Arvut?
R. That I think that everything depends on me, that the whole world is on my shoulders and I try to give all of my powers in the 10 that it will connect in such a way that it will be close to revelation of the Creator.
S. From what we learn in the first lesson it sounds like it depends upon my annulment or my personal efforts towards the 10?
R. Yes.
S. Sounds like my personal efforts contribute to the 10?
R. Yes.
S. (37:05) Is there another level where I help my friends in the 10 to do the same actions or it all comes down to how much I work towards the 10, for the benefit of the 10?
R. There is no more, as much as I work in the 10 towards the connection between us and through them that I want to influence the whole world, the whole system of Adam HaRishon and through that whole system to the Creator, in that way I work. In a systematic way there is nothing else to do.
S. () There's no other option besides my annulment to the 10?
R. It's not just annulment, it is connection and creating connections that are tighter and more powerful and more and more, not just annulment as this is in order to go in between them. It is just a matter of the conception in the 10 but afterwards when I connect to them more and more and the Creator, to that extent bestows upon the connections between us and we feel this in practice as much as in those connections, the force of bestowing flows through there, the upper force and by this we feel how the world is built, how it is also in a net of connections between everybody. From that net like in a vessel, we start discovering the light, the Creator working in it because the Creator, the light we cannot attain it, we can only attain this through the vessels that connect between them with the force of bestowing that it brings us recognition in the nature of the light.
S. The responsibility for correction is it only mine or I have to see my friends as responsible for correction?
R. The responsibility for correction is upon the whole 10 and you push them into connection that they will be as one man with one heart.
18. S. (39:54) Recently you said on another issue that the friend asked if something was bad you can say there's None Else Besides Him, what if the Creator sends us a petty lust, can we get out of this quickly?
R. I didn't understand.
S. Baal HaSulam writes about the petty lusts that are pushing the world to a scale of merit, how can we come out of this as quick as possible?
R. You don't have to come out of all the small lusts, you will be Don Quixote, that you won’t be able to overcome all of that. You work in a different way, that all of these different evil things, whichever happens you have in you, along with them you work on the connection with the friends until through the connection with the friends the upper light will work on you and annul all of those bad habits that should not be in you. If they should be then they will stay there, don't start sorting out what is good and what is not, don't fight the egoistic things in you. It is better to draw as much of the light that reforms as you can, that is called the Creator will finish the work for me, meaning that the upper light will do the sorting out and the correcting you just give it a place to work. Meaning connection with the friends and the study, what we are studying and the more that you can let it work on you otherwise you are going to start working against your evil inclination and that is like a joke that he who wants to break the evil inclination, instead of one he gets two of them. That is why we just have to think about the good and the good will come and correct the bad. You draw the Creator in there and that is the work of the Creator not your work, you pull the Creator and as close as you can and he will be in them.
Item 23 (43:04) “With these words, we clearly understand what we said”
19. R. (44:39) Meaning that we can't demand that all of humanity to come out of their desire to receive and come into the desire to the bestow, we see as much as the history of that group, that Abraham connected in Babylon and called them Israel, as much as we went through states and are still in confusion in a lack of direction. This is why there is the matter of a plan which is very complex, that we need to see it.

20. R. (45:51) Meaning there was preparation for that group after they came out of Babylon and said that we want to know the essence of creation, the plan and purpose of creation that we have a deficiency for it, so that deficiency wasn't enough and they have to enter something called the exile in Egypt, meaning states where they learn about their nature that they can't, above their ego. After they realized that their desire to receive the Pharaoh, their ego was in control of them, along with that they have some kind of tending toward spirituality and they can't do it themselves. This is called that they discover as much as they are under the control of the ego, the Pharaoh.

21. R. (47:21) There is no choice, we must go through unpleasant states to really pour salt on the wounds in order to escape the ego.
