Reader: Hello, today we will be reading excerpts from the sources from the preparation document to the Congress “Connecting to Lishma”, which is coming up in 14 days. “Connecting to Lishma” Convention, excerpt number 8. 8. RABASH, Article No. 223, "Entry into the Work"

Reading: (00:39) The entry into the work must be in Lo Lishma [not for Her sake], meaning that by believing in the Creator he will have a life of pleasure. This means that if he does this action called “faith,” it will give him elation and superior mental forces than when he does not perform this action.

It follows that this is a Segula [remedy/quality/power] by which he can taste greater flavors in quantity and quality than what he tastes while he is doing other things in order to receive pleasure.

This means that there are many ways to obtain pleasure, such as eating, drinking, and

sleeping, or impressive clothes, or by doing things that make people respect him. Such actions are means by which he obtains pleasure.

Yet, the pleasures that these actions yield for him are limited in quantity and quality. Conversely, the Segula of faith brings him greater pleasure in quantity and quality.

All this is called Lo Lishma because his intention is only to obtain a greater pleasure.

9. RABASH, Article No. Article No. 12 (1988), "What Are Torah and Work in the Way of the Creator?"

Reading: (03:29) When beginning to teach women, children, and the general public, Maimonides says we should begin in Lo Lishma, and normally, everyone takes after the beginning, meaning that the reason they were given for why we need the Torah are reasons of Lo Lishma, and not because “I have created the evil inclination; I have created the Torah as a spice.” Naturally, the majority of the world does not even understand that there is a reward called “Dvekut with the Creator.”

For this reason, the view of the majority controls a person—that he does not need to study Torah so that by this he will be able to achieve the real intention. That is, that through the Torah he will be able to aim in order to bestow and not for his own benefit, that it will bring him Dvekut, to adhere to the Creator.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (05:35) I'd like to ask about item 8. What is the meaning in having faith in the Creator?

M. Laitman: There's a force that's higher than us which determines and dominates what we feel, think, receive and accordingly, we need to arrange our desire, our speech, our thought.

Student: Is there a difference between believing in the Creator and the act of faith or acting in faith?

M. Laitman: To act in faith means that I know this power exists in reality, and I'm looking for ways to feel it.

Student: Many people believe that there is such a force in the world. So, what's special about the act of faith that we mentioned here? What does a person do other than just knowing that there is a force that rules over the world?

M. Laitman: I wish to be in contact with it. I'm attracted to it. I feel it. I connect to it.

Student: What is the real difference between corporeal pleasure and pleasure that is derived of faith?

M. Laitman: Corporeal pleasures,we can receive them through our five senses. Spiritual pleasure, we can receive from how everyone wishes to feel the Creator and come to adhere to Him. And this is possible through a ladder of degrees.

Student: But what is the profound, meaningful difference between these pleasures? One is felt through this sense, another is felt through another sense. What is the more profound difference?

M. Laitman: Because I feel that this is coming from the Creator, from His influence on me.

Student: At the moment a person tastes the flavor, the taste of faith, then he's now like a junkie. He's looking for that pleasure again and again. He's motivated by reception again.

M. Laitman: Let's first feel, and then we'll talk.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (09:10) With what words can you describe what happens in a person when he feels that the Creator is freeing him from the intention to receive? When he enters Lishma [for Her sake], then the Creator releases him from the intention of reception. So, how can you describe what happens in the person? How does the person feel it?

M. Laitman: A person then, anywhere, for any reason, he would previously do something in order to profit, to connect to something, to fulfill himself, be satisfied. Besides the feeling he receives he feels that it comes from the Creator, deliberately to the person, to him, and this is the Creator who wishes to fill him.

Student: Can a person. at any degree imagine what the degree would look, the degree where he's released of his intention to receive, or will it always be a kind of surprise, a feeling that he could never imagine before? Do we have any way to approach it ahead of time?

M. Laitman: To approach it in advance is possible, but nevertheless, from the state of Lo Lishma it comes to Lishma.

Student: So, in that state of Lo Lishma, can he imagine to himself the reward he will receive when he turns to Lishma?

M. Laitman: Precisely describing it, no.

Student: What kind of connection does he have with the Panim [the face], which is to say the corrected, his corrected state?

M. Laitman: Now, whatever he feels comes to him from the Creator.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (12:04) In this excerpt, and in many other texts we learn that the road to Lishma, the path to Lishma, has to go through Lo Lishma, not for her sake, and here he says that a person can imagine mundane pleasures that he knows, but this Segula faith brings him a greater pleasure in quantity and quality, but all of this is in Lo Lishma. So, is it right to do this or wrong to try to describe Lishma in terms of pleasure? Because there are many things like that that I would like to feel.

M. Laitman: He feels that so he would like to determine for himself certain pleasure that comes to him, seemingly, from the Creator, and he would like to feel additional pleasures that come from the Creator. And they don't necessarily come as pleasures. The important thing is that it's coming from the Creator.

Student: But if we learn that without pleasure a person can't move, so on the one hand, describing pleasures from bestowal gives you energy, motivation, but on the other hand it's also wrong to do, it's Lo Lishma. So, is this approach good or bad?

M. Laitman: Here a person is going through states where he cannot yet determine, scrutinize, how much is already in these pleasures that extend directly from the Creator, or for some indirect reasons, and consequently, he needs to be directed precisely to something he receives from the Creator.

Student: I feel that I can't really, truly care for the friends or love others. Is it allowed to ask for that, or no? To do good?

M. Laitman: And if you'll see, if you'll feel that you're doing good to others, to the Creator, then try to continue.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (15:03) For there to be pleasure there has to be a vessel, an appropriate vessel?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: Do I as a person, any person, have this vessel of faith before beginning this work?

M. Laitman: Before that, no. The vessel of faith means that a person has the ability to feel the Creator.

Student: From where do I get such a vessel?

M. Laitman: You forcefully want to open such a vessel, to have a relationship to the Creator, and in this relationship you'll receive something from Him.

Student: What does it mean to forcefully open this vessel? Because here he writes in item 8, he writes where it's as though it's not just a vessel, it's a vessel that's greater than all the other vessels.

M. Laitman: You make an internal effort to understand more, to feel more, to come closer in whatever is possible to you. And by that, you wish to reach a closer feeling to the Creator.

Student: Does a person have any chance of receiving the vessel of faith without receiving any kind of awakening from his environment? Like, on his own - I want this, and so on?

M. Laitman: No, he nevertheless has to be in contact with the environment, but this doesn't have to be a connection that we can be in like everyone else, receiving pleasures.

Student: I'm asking because before I receive this vessel of faith within me, where I truly want to feel the Creator, I need something to push me, to drive me to want the vessel of faith, something like that. Is it right to think this way?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (17:49) In item eight, he also talks about pleasure from corporeal activities, and pleasure from the act of faith. Now, pleasure from corporeal acts, I'm attracted to that, driven towards it. I need to make an effort for it not to happen. But he talks about an act of faith. What is the difference between the two?

M. Laitman: That it truly comes from someone unknown, someone a person cannot describe, cannot detect, locate, cannot bring closer to himself, except through efforts and for things to become clearer. Then he tries to ensure that his connection to the feeling of faith will be as a gateway to a greater perception, a deeper, more emotional perception. And in this way, he will advance.

Student: If I understand you correctly, I'd like to give an example, which I suppose we all know and feel, that being a Congress. Before a Congress, there are many objections, disruptions, people who want to come but it doesn't work out. The first day of the Congress is a work day also, people need to take a vacation day. And a moment before reaching the Congress here, suddenly, you can't even understand how it is that you thought about not coming. Here you experience very strong pleasure. So, the question is, is this experience similar to what you described before?

M. Laitman: No, it's much more. And unrelated to space-time and motion, it comes, it's clothed in them. Yes, we'll feel it and then decide.

Student: So, what is that pleasure that we feel as a result of connection in a Congress? What is that pleasure?

M. Laitman: This pleasure because around each one there are others, other bodies similar to his who share the same special attitude to what's happening around them. These sensations that awaken in the individual, they have a great field in which others are there as well, and this operates as a surrounding light for each person, that's why he feels it, and it changes.

Student: And this isn't a pleasure from faith yet, which he writes about, or is it a little bit related?

M. Laitman: No. Nevertheless, it brings you anything he feels, both negative and positive, arranges him inside the Congress.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (22:13) In Lo Lishma what motivates a person is pleasure, that's what he writes here in Excerpt 8. He aims to receive greater pleasure than he currently receives. And in Lishma, he's detached from the pleasure. What motivates him then is the greatness of the King, wanting to be near to the upper force. In Lo Lishma, can we already aim towards that place called “Lishma”? Can we reach that deep scrutiny of what Lo Lishma means exactly? Or is it a gift, ultimately a surprise? Do we need to go into that scrutiny?

M. Laitman: Yes. Yes, I think that we need to delve deep into the scrutiny and all the actions that can awaken and bring people closer to the scrutiny, and resist that in this way, and walk together. In short, check our connection to the upper force that is working on us according to our intention that is inviting these feelings for us. That's what we need to do.

Student: Can you guide us towards the key point here to help us want to advance?

M. Laitman: No, the main thing here is the search where I begin to feel my connection to the point of bestowal of the upper force.

Student: And the friends have to revolve around this also in support?

M. Laitman: Well, let it be in support.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (24:51) The scrutiny, the search, which intensifies our lack to do the scrutiny for others, what gives us that, that lack which magnifies the vessel?

M. Laitman: This vessel practically doesn't exist in us. By the nature of things I don't worry about that which does not belong to me. And so in order to care for others I must first be connected to them. It could be mutual. In this way, advance toward connection.

Student: I heard you say that this needs to come about through the connection with the environment, but it's not necessarily through the connection with the environment. We have to acquire a new sense, a sixth sense, I don't even know what to call it, which will allow me to feel pleasure not for myself, within myself, but pleasure through fulfilling the needs of someone else. So, if it's not through the environment, necessarily, how do I make this inner effort to change my process so as to derive pleasure from delighting someone else? It's not by nature, it's not in my nature. I wasn't born with this. So, how do I change my nature such that I will enjoy giving pleasure to someone else?

M. Laitman: I don't know. I don't know how to change my own nature. I speak more simply. There are many people who, like me, are attracted to the same goal, that same force, that could be felt in us as the upper force as a single force, and we want to reach it together.

Student: You said that the connection has to be mutual, reciprocal.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: What does it mean that we build this connection mutually?

M. Laitman: When I begin to feel that what's coming to me from the upper source, because the love of me I wish to be connected to Him in return.

Student: This mutual connection is the connection with the Creator through the friends? I receive and give through the friends, we receive and give to each other within a kind of field, a closed circle, a closed system, where we feel the connection between us?

M. Laitman: It doesn't have to be this way. It can be a connection between me and Him. I feel it in the participation of everyone around the world.

Student: I'm talking about the Ten right now, I'm not talking about the world. I'm talking about our Ten, which we've been focusing on for a long time now, and through the connection between us, we try to reinforce the connection with the Creator. In our Ten, for example, every evening we pray together, and every time we try to make this prayer closer and closer to our true lack. So, I'm asking, the common prayer, where we make efforts within our scrutinies, we scrutinize things we need to find in our connection, what else we lack, and we bring that to a shared prayer each day. Does that actually change our attitudes towards bestowal and giving?

M. Laitman: Certainly.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (29:56) In excerpt 8, I think, I saw something I didn't see yesterday, he calls all the means a person uses in life, Segulot [special powers], which bring him pleasure. And he specifies - eating, drinking, wearing respectable clothing, but the Sequla of faith, he doesn't call it spirituality yet, he also calls it a means for the attainment of even greater pleasure. And all of this is called Lo Lishma. So, where is the point of inversion, where is in order to bestow?

M. Laitman: In order to bestow is a kind of attitude that we do not possess from birth, naturally, because naturally, we're only in the will to receive. Rather, the result of efforts of connections, sorts of actions we are learning about, by investing in it, we then come to what is called an act of bestowal.

Student: I'm talking about faith, he calls it the Segula of faith. And he says that all it does is just bring him greater pleasure, because the previous pleasures were more restricted in quantity and quality. That's what he says. Now, by utilizing this Segula of faith, he then receives higher quality pleasures and more of them. So, what changes there? Why would he need now to switch to in order to bestow? That's what I'm asking.

M. Laitman: Because in the action of bestowal, in order to bestow, he can disconnect from himself a bit more. And to that extent, he can cleave to bestow to the Creator and do it across several actions, including moving away from himself and moving closer to the Creator.

Student: Within the Lo Lishma [not for Her sake], is there, what to call it, is there work? Within the Lo Lishma, there's an area which is meant to later turn into Lishma. And that's the...

M. Laitman: We cannot speak about things that aren't truly in us. It only confuses me.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (33:24) Despite what you just said, I also noticed this Segula, that in order to receive pleasure you need Segula. And adhesion with the Creator, that's what he calls a reward, meaning an outcome of work, an action, which is natural. Why does he call adhesion a reward and everything else he calls Segula?

M. Laitman: In all actions, with the exception of adhesion, all the actions we have to carry out as means, and adhesion is the goal.

Student: But reward is compensation. It's usually a result of your work. Segula is something that he does by which to receive pleasure. So, what kind of work do we need to do to reach adhesion? Because I can't imagine to myself what adhesion is. I have no means by which to understand what it means. And I suppose that there's some kind of pleasure there as well because everything exists with the intention of pleasure. So, what kind of work should a person do to be rewarded with this? Usually, a person is rewarded for some very specific thing he does.

M. Laitman: I can't explain the meaning of adhesion. That's entirely impossible to explain. You can awaken on it a certain upper root so then you're able to depict it.

Student: What does it mean that I can depict the upper root? Is it something that I find within myself?

M. Laitman: If I give you a certain example, a certain depiction, and through this depiction you can enter a feeling, a prayer, a feeling of that upper force, and you can connect to it emotionally and receive a certain impression from it. And that brings you closer.

Student: So, the work is to look for that picture inside of me that I depict for myself, and that is the work?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: Not always I manage to picture it. So, can I ask, can I demand for this thing to be drawn within me?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: And this request is also considered work?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (37:14) This excerpt he describes a person who is in Lo Lishma, and he performs an action called “faith”. This action is his attempt to bestow.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: It's a kind of receiving in order to bestow. Okay, without definitions, but he's performing this action because this brings him this pleasure, and that's how he discovers this state.

M. Laitman: I don't know what are you asking.

Student: When a person is in Lo Lishma and he's supposed to switch to Lishma, and he's supposed to find that his request through these efforts is incorrect and then to correct it, essentially?

M. Laitman: Maybe.

Student: Where is the process different? Where he, at some point, stops feeling pleasure in these actions and is powerless to even perform them? I'm asking.

M. Laitman: There's no question here. It's not in the place of our discussion.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (39:13) In two weeks exactly we'll be sitting here, many, many people, thousands of people, making great exertion to arrive, prepare themselves, and there's great pleasure in that as well. We hug people we haven't seen in a long time that we missed and there is a whole series of actions here, a process, many things that we'll do together: songs, meals, lessons, many things. The question is how to take this power from all our preparation into this window in time and to be very focused on that, on this only, and not on anything else?

M. Laitman: It's all through our internal exertion, with our inner forces.

Student: Should we be afraid of missing out on this opportunity?

M. Laitman: Yes, that's always, like in any state.

Student: I'm asking because right here, he says that there are a lot of things, there's faith that a person thinks he will enjoy, but here we don't want to just only enjoy it, but to reach adhesion with the Creator. Not to just get another kind of pleasure, but to have a kind of revolution.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: What is there to a Congress, specifically, such an opportunity, the aggregation of so much exertion which allows us to jump up towards that?

M. Laitman: Especially it's the connection, the connection of the people, of the hearts, you can say the points in the heart, that they want to connect from a bond in order to become one single point, a large point, because it's the result of the connection between the points that are between them, both in their inclination and other way around. So, there is an opportunity in them to perform an action similar to what we are learning about, to connection. And accordingly, even if you are below a certain level of connection, we can still make it and influence it. So, the inclinations, the desires, our prayers will combine into a single goal, a single point, and we will feel it, we will feel the outcome from this between us.

Student: Connection, in our world, connection gives us great pleasure. Everyone likes connecting around something.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: And here it needs to be a very different kind of connection, very precise, very delicate.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: How can we maintain that precision and being delicate in such a way, so as not to end up in a different kind of connection?

M. Laitman: We wish to connect under a very special condition, as it's written, for Shechina to dwell among us. And if we will know how to attract the Shechina and how to keep it, then that connection will not disappear, will not elude us, and we'll be able to feel in its place, which is above us. It belongs not to our nature, but to the upper nature.

Student: So, now we have two weeks, this period of time, how can we be more, more focused, more focused every day on that desire you just described?

M. Laitman: I think that whoever is with us, according to both quantity and quality that we demand in our daily lessons then he has the ability, the opportunity to reach a point of connection with everyone, where in this point, this desire, and this desire he can make it, each and every one.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (46:11) We want to add to this cauldron more and more things, components, to push us forward. Ingredients, rather. Rav has all sorts of, Rav has calculations which are in order to bestow. How do we adhere to the Rav, so as to follow him, walk forward with him? And how can that, what can that contribute to us?

M. Laitman: This can contribute to each and every one, and to everyone together. It can contribute additional force, I won't say which force in what direction, what level of intensity, just another force for attaining that same goal. The force, the power to reach adhesion with the Creator.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (47:32) I heard you say that we want to connect under a very special condition, that divinity will dwell between us. What does it mean that divinity dwells between us?

M. Laitman: That we will discover that we are in a field, where the quality of the field is the illumination of Shechina. And we are in this field, to the extent that we will be connected more to the nature of the field, in order to bestow. For that we have the ability to succeed greatly with the amount of time, amount of exertion towards connection.

Student: Can we say that this divinity that will dwell between us, that's the field of bestowal that you just talked about?

M. Laitman: Yes, certainly.

Student: What's special about this field of bestowal? How does it affect all those who connect under that condition?

M. Laitman: It helps them connect, to some extent.

Student: In the beginning of the lesson you talked a lot about a feeling that what I receive comes from the Creator. You use this expression a lot, it comes from the Creator. So, how can a person observe this more and more, see that what comes from the Creator, not by my own awakening?

M. Laitman: Through his effort and intention, his effort and intention in quantity and quality.

Student: And is there some hint in that where I feel that this specifically comes from the Creator? Rather, how do I scrutinize what happened within me, because that's how I feel it. I feel something happened within me. How can I, do I just say it came from the Creator and that's it?

M. Laitman: No, try to concentrate on this and look for additional points of contact where you can grasp it.

Student: What should I look for?

M. Laitman: A connection.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (50:39) In the preparation, we hear about groups that make exertion, which is above reason, so as to, well, for example, they decided to all come to the Congress, they did a lot of work, they labored above reason, we feel that. These are efforts that we feel are in Lo Lishma, which need to be brought into Lishma. So what responsibility do I have in helping them, helping them reach Lishma, reach adhesion, for this vessel to invert? What responsibility do I have over this? And how do I realize, fulfill that responsibility?

M. Laitman: Well, we participate in the lesson together, and we hope that this lesson will influence all of our participants, all of our friends around the world. It's already a form of participation. Besides that, as much as possible, it's to put in his strength, forces, toward the preparation for the lessons and the connection between the groups, between people, individuals, from all of our groups.

Student: The impression we receive from such actions, from friends, and it can be in the Ten, other things, where a person feels that he feels inspired by someone. The most useful response is to take care of the connection between all the parts?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (52:56) Before we started learning about Lishma, in preparation for the Congress, we worked around the principle of Arvut, and I felt I heard from friends that they say, that there's a difference between these two things. Lishma feels more like a kind of personal, individual, spiritual development, while Arvut [mutual guarantee], felt more like group work. How can we connect the advancement towards Lishma to our work in the Ten?

M. Laitman: If we don't make efforts to be in Lishma, each and every one, then we cannot get to Arvut [mutual guarantee]. It remains as a goal, but not one that we are touching and can reinforce.

Student: Seemingly, I can sit here, not in the Ten, in the larger group, sit not a stance, and study about Lishma, see how each one connects to the Creator, grabs hold of the Creator. I don't really need the friends at this stage.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: How can we tie these two things together? The work of Lishma and the work in the Ten. To see that one needs the other, and that it's not personal work, but the work of the Ten, of the group.

M. Laitman: We have to think more and realize more in the connection between us, how through the connection we're able to establish a direction or intention more precisely toward the goal for the stronger connection when it's directed, aimed in such a way that our entire work will enter into what we call as “one man and one heart”. And in this heart, we'll all feel that we belong to this single action to concentrate the general heart to a Liba [a heart], a core, which is called the point of connection of all the hearts together. And this is the goal. And in this single heart, we'll feel ourselves there together, all of us, in allotment of ourselves. Rather, these are simply our own forces without determining who is he, what is he? Only those forces are at work in being attracted to one another toward the center of the Ten.

Student: What is that operation for general restriction, the general heart?

M. Laitman: The general heart needs to assemble all the hearts into one heart. All the qualities, all the points will connect together into one connection.

Student: And when we talk in the past couple of days, I hear very strongly that we need to not lose sight of the Creator, to locate Him, detect Him in every state, hold on to Him. It sounds like very general kind of, very personal work, individual work, right?

M. Laitman: Why is that the work of the Ten?

Student: How is it the work of the Ten to hold on to the Creator? Because I go through different states: accents, descents, disappointments, joys, and so on. So, I'm hearing that I need to make an effort here.

M. Laitman: The result from that, you also want to feel it alone and that's it, by yourself?

Student: You answered, the result comes to the Ten. And this is called the work of the Ten, in that result, or is it in the work?

M. Laitman: Well, in the work.

Student: So, what does it mean that the Ten works together to…

M. Laitman: It's an effort, an effort toward connection in the center of which, you discover adhesion in the Creator.

Student: So why is it felt as my own individual work? I received a certain state; it's not that we received that state. We don't feel that we're working on this together.

M. Laitman: Here, you have to reach that where although you feel yourself as a single point alone, you want to reach connection with everyone, in the center of connection.

Student: If we can perhaps ground this even more so that I feel it throughout the day. If I get some state, I'm supposed to look for the Creator leading me through that state, governing me, acting upon me, I need to hold on to Him. Where's the Ten here? How do I introduce the Ten? How do I use it for support? How?

M. Laitman: When you begin to feel yourself as a single, lonely point, then this has to influence you to do all the actions, 360 degrees, which all obligate you to connect.

Student: I think I heard you say that the friends enter into Lishma, not the Ten.

M. Laitman: The Ten are the friends, who else is it?

Student: No, I'm talking about the individual, that we don't go into Lishma as a Ten but each one in his right time, in his turn, and so on.

M. Laitman: Yes, but a person nevertheless has to think of his Ten.

Question (Petah Tikvah Center 25): (01:02:04) If there's greater pleasure in Lishma, greater than any corporeal pleasure, how can we make sure that it doesn't stop us from advancing towards Lishma?

M. Laitman: The pleasure that we discover in the connection between us, that can't come from Lo Lishma. Nevertheless, this illumination that extends from its center is the illumination that awakens us toward Lishma. We will talk about it. My answer doesn't cover the question quite.

Question (Brazil): (01:03:22) I heard that everything we feel comes from the Creator. How can we work with these feelings in the right way?

M. Laitman: We are only learning that all the time, how to aim all these forms that we awaken toward one goal, one point, adhesion.

Question (Rivadim): (01:04:10) It's written that the Creator is close to those who call Him truly. How do we call upon the Creator for help, truly? What kind of preparation or prayer do I need? Because sometimes I feel powerless. What to do?

M. Laitman: You have to try and connect with the entire Ten and let them in. Connect and encircle all the forces, expectations, causes, and consequences. That we may be able to locate in the connection in his Ten, each one in his own Ten. And then, we'll continue to assemble in the point of the center of the Ten, and then from the center of the Ten to greater centers, more powerful centers. And then we'll feel how much we become in those circles from one Ten to the next. We have to feel that, actually.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (01:06:25) From within the work in the Tens, to continue the scrutinies now with the friend and in general. From the work in the Tens, the person himself, individually, he needs to aspire to break into the King's hall? Or does he have to take all his friends with him?

M. Laitman: No, he begins the path by being alone. And he continues on his own. We sometimes speak about this group we have, all of us as one bundle. But really, it's an assembly. Free assembly. Our free assembly. That's how we need to see ourselves as working in the Ten.

Student: Is it right for each one of the friends to aspire, to yearn, to break into Lishma?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: Do we need to have such an atmosphere in the society where each one tries to scrutinize Lishma, to just break into that charge in there? From the work in the Ten, of course, but it's individual work opposite the Creator? Is that the question?

M. Laitman: Yes, it's personal work, individual work that comes from the sum total of the friend's exertions.

Student: As I feel it, this fire in the society, if the whole society is on fire, then we'll all benefit from that. We'll all enjoy it. And Baal HaSulam says that the gates of competition should never be locked. Even between Kabbalists, Kabbalists who are in order to bestow, they also had a competition between them. Can such a thing be?

M. Laitman: I didn't feel it. Maybe in the future.

Student: And here in the society, would it be right to generate this atmosphere of competition? But the proper kind of competition. Is there such a thing? Envy, lust, honor, in that direction.

M. Laitman: Yes, but regarding competition we need to look into it. It's the natural force that erupts from within a person. And so we need to learn how to protect it, and how to agree to work with it.

Student: How to work with it from a state which is completely, absolutely egoistic, to improve it in order to connect between us?

M. Laitman: It's not for now.

Student: Not for now?

Question (Woman Turkiye): (01:10:30) I have a desire to connect with Rav, with the friends to rise above my ego. My question is, how to use the force of my will to receive and the desires that awaken in me to walk in the direction of the goal?

M. Laitman: We need to try and assemble all the forces in me that I can use to connect to a certain leading force, leading cause, leading goal, all kinds of actions, milestones where I can assemble myself as one and this way to build... Consequently, a system has to be built in me where I will be in a single connection. Well, that’s enough.

Question (Turkiye 7): (01:12:35) I’d like to ask about two different examples. If a person tries to come to the lesson, he makes efforts, he has difficulty, he exerts himself, he turns to the Creator, and ultimately he manages to come to the lesson. Now, the second example is a person who comes to the lesson, but it seems like he has no effort to make to come to the lesson. How can one who makes no effort, who needs no efforts to the lesson compensate for all the efforts that the other friend made in order to reach the lesson?

M. Laitman: You should check and see how much it will help you to think of advancing through envy, lust, and honor, how much these forces give you the ability to nevertheless rise and continue, each time rise and continue, and then we'll talk some more.

Question (Kyiv 1): (01:13:51) We learned that we come from Lo Lishma to Lishma. Is there an exercise we can do every moment in our thought, in our prayer, that from Lo Lishma I'll reach Lishma?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: How can we practically start the prayer? Even prayer to the friends that there is no… it starts with the ego. How do I rid myself of that concern of my egoistic intention so to come to Lishma?

M. Laitman: Compare your goals to the general common purpose or goal, and you will see how your goal disappears within the general goal.

Student: The goal, the general goal and the goal to give joy to the Creator, that's the same thing, or it's different goals?

M. Laitman: The goal of delighting the Creator is not understood to us, it's just words. We need to somehow collect it together in the Ten.

Question (Almaty): (01:15:35) In the beginning of number 8, he says that entering the work has to start from Lo Lishma. And the way we understand it, truth or false, Lo Lishma is like a lie that we gather until we reach this critical point that the gathering of all the states brings you to Lishma. And we as a group have gathered, we did a lot of work, we came to this critical mass, and now according to the lesson, we have to come to the Congress, and then there's a different kind of work. So, where is there a bigger lie that we will go to Lo Lishma here at the Congress? The question is how do we come to the Congress? What do we as a group bring to the Congress?

M. Laitman: The work in the group is the main thing. In the preparation. The main preparation for the Convention is to see the Kli where I am at the moment, and in what it is in Lo Lishma, and how these qualities I gradually bend to Lishma. That is actually our preparation for the Convention.

Question (Woman Heb 1): (01:17:57) I heard that you said if everyone should want to burst into the King's Palace, you said yes. We have this free gathering. What is this free gathering?

M. Laitman: Free, I don't know how to interpret. Free is according to the desire.

Student: But according to the desire, each one wants to be concerned of himself. So, what should the emphasis be on? What do you mean that I have to coerce myself to want to be in connection?

M. Laitman: Of course. Of course.

Student: So, I can't want to burst into the King's Palace because then I'm not forcing myself to anything?

M. Laitman: You need to try to aim your development to preparing yourself to serve the King.

Student: But the ego tells a person that he can serve the King on his own. Why do I need this whole story now?

M. Laitman: Otherwise you won't be ready.

Student: You said in one of the talks that you have with your Ten, that you see us as individuals, and you don't see a group. How can we become a group in the Congress?

M. Laitman: Group? When you think about the connection between you, each thinks of herself as the center, and that it exists that way. And that's a problem, for women especially. Also for the men, they have the same problem, but at least not on the same measure.

Student: What will help us break this wall, this thought?

M. Laitman: As usual, prayer. Prayer to the Creator that we need to raise MAN to a higher degree, for it to bestow upon us and correct us.

Student: So, he only hears a true prayer?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: How do we reach a true prayer before the Congress? How do we reach it? What has to break inside so the prayer will be true?

M. Laitman: Try. Each talk with the others, and see how I bestow to them, how they bestow our general Kli, and don't be passive in this. Do not be passive.

Student: What's the right depiction? If we're not in the center, so what is?

M. Laitman: If we're not in the center, then we're not in anything. What do we begin entering the center from? From us bestowing to the Creator. Whether we have such qualities that by connecting with them together, connecting them together, we do bestow to the Creator. That's the question.

Question (Woman Turkiye 7): (01:23:24) Everywhere I look, I see problems, trouble, suffering, but that doesn’t move me. I don’t feel it touches me if it's not something I've felt myself. So, how to reach a feeling and a demand for the others?

M. Laitman: Continue, and not stop, and collect. Try and collect what, in relation to yesterday that I did, that I asked, that I was sorry about, that I was drawn to, the goal, What, especially from yesterday can I add today? And aim myself this way, more and more in the manner in which I'm alone, but with a direction, a very sharp direction towards the goal.

Student: I know that I need to demand, but I feel like my heart just stops and doesn't work.

M. Laitman: That's correct, but it's a stage that you have to go through. Let's hope that it will happen in the near future. The main thing is to feel that we are before the convention, and we are in the last stages in reaching the convention with the correct demand to be ready for the question of the Creator, for the dwelling of the Creator.
