142. “Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven.” “Lights” is written without a Vav, which means a curse. It comes to proliferate and incorporate the evil serpent, who was given then a grip on holiness, who cast filth and made a separation so the sun would not copulate with the moon, between ZA, the sun, and Malchut, the moon.
“Lights” [without a Vav in Hebrew] means curses. Therefore, through his inciting, he caused the sin of the tree of knowledge when the earth was cursed, as it is written, “Cursed is the earth for you.” Because of it, “lights” is written without a Vav.
143. “Let there be lights,” the moon, Malchut, “in the firmament of the heaven,” the sun, ZA. The verse incorporates both of them in one inclusion, for it is written, “Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven,” that the worlds above and below will make a coupling and shine. This is implied from the words “on the earth,” and it is not written “in the earth,” meaning above and below, since the count of everything is in the moon.
ZA is Hassadim that are covered from Hochma, except during the coupling with Malchut. At that time, he draws Hochma for Malchut, and then ZA gains illumination of Hochma for her, and the worlds above and below will make a coupling and shine. Although the coupling is in order for ZA, the upper world, to bestow upon Malchut, the lower world, ZA above, also shines greatly because of the coupling. The worlds will shine above and below, in the upper world, ZA, and in the lower world, Malchut.
This is implied from the words “on the earth,” and it is not written “in the earth,” for if the illumination of the coupling were to reach only Malchut, it would have had to write “Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to shine in the earth,” which is Malchut, but it is written, “on the earth,” meaning that the upper world, too, which is on the earth, receives from the illumination of the coupling since the calculation of everything is in the moon.
“Calculation” means illumination of Hochma, which shines only in the moon, but ZA shines only in Hassadim. For this reason, during the coupling because of Malchut, he, too, shines in Hochma, and you find that ZA, too, receives from the illumination of the coupling.
144. Gematrias and calculation of periods and impregnations are the Mochin of number and calculation, degrees of illumination of Hochma. It is all in the moon, in Malchut, since above, in ZA, there is no illumination of Hochma.
It is not that there is no illumination of Hochma above Malchut, but the calculation, the illumination of Hochma, is in the moon, in Malchut, and from there the man enters to know above her, since during the coupling, the Hochma from Malchut shines also in ZA.
It is written, “And let them be for signs and seasons,” in plural form. This means that it concerns both. “Signs” is written without a Vav, indicating that it is singular form and concerns only the moon. Thus, why is it written “let them be,” in plural form? “Let them be” does not concern the sun and the moon, but the HaVaYot of the Mochin, that all the HaVaYot of the Mochin will be in the moon, like that cart that is filled with everything. But the calculation of everything, the illumination of Hochma, is only in the moon.
145. One dot, AA, began to count from there. It is the root of revealing the Mochin and the counting and the count and the calculation. For this reason, AA is called “beginning,” since what is before that point, what is above AA, which is RADLA, is unknown and cannot be counted.
There is a second dot above, Bina, which is concealed and not revealed at all, and it is not known, GAR of Bina, which are clothed in upper AVI. From there, from ZAT of Bina, which are clothed in YESHSUT, is the beginning of counting anything that is concealed and deep, since in YESHSUT, the Hochma is revealed in order to bestow upon Malchut.
There is also a dot below, Malchut, which is revealed in Hochma, and from there is the beginning of every calculation and every count, since all the Mochin of illumination of Hochma are revealed in her.
AA is the root of Hochma, the concealed Hochma in it. However, it is concealed and shines only in its own place and not below. YESHSUT, ZAT of Bina, rise to the Rosh of AA and receive from MS [concealed Mocha]. However, in him, too, Hochma is not revealed for his own needs, but in order to bestow downward. Only in Malchut is the place of revealing the Hochma.
146. For this reason, Malchut is the place for all the periods and Gematrias and impregnations and times and festivals and Sabbaths, for all those are Mochin of illumination of Hochma that are revealed only in Malchut. Israel, who adhere to the Creator, make a calculation by the moon, Malchut, drawing Hochma from Malchut. They adhere to her and raise her up, as it is written, “And you who are adhered to the Lord your God.”
