2. On Rosh Hashanah [Hebrew New Year’s Eve], the Creator sits in judgment over the world, and all the people of the world are accounted for, and there is no one who is not accounted for. The books of the living and the dead are open on that day.
3. Because the Creator wanted them, He gave them advice by which to be saved from all the slanderers of above, who appointed each time judgment is present in the world. On that day, Israel convene in order to awaken mercy on themselves with a Shofar [ram’s horn blown on Rosh Hashanah].
4. The sound that comes out from the Shofar goes up and awakens the Shofar above, Bina. Then, the mercies awaken from their place, and the Creator rises from the throne of judgment and sits in the throne of mercy, and has mercy on Israel, and the slanderer is not given permission to slander them.
5. Israel repent before the Creator, blow the Shofar, and the mercies awaken since the sound that comes out from the Shofar is the awakening of the mercy, and then the defamer cannot stand before the throne of mercy since he does not come from that side, since his grip is only on the left side and not on the middle line, Rachamim [mercy]. For this reason, there is no slandering.
6. On Yom Kippur [Day of Atonement], the sealing of the judgment, when Israel stand in the holiness of their master, they give him a scapegoat so the defamer would not approach the Temple. That is the scapegoat, for the he-goat comes from the side of the spirit of impurity, is impure, the spirit of impurity enjoys it, and the defamer is busied with it and does not approach the Temple so as to defile. At that time, the face shines and Israel are saved from it.
7. During the flood, when people’s iniquities increased, that defamer came when the judgment awakens over the iniquities of the world. At that time, he comes, and the slanderer is before the Creator and the Temple is defiled, meaning that Malchut is separated from ZA, all the faces are sad, and judgment is present. It is written about that, “The end of all flesh has come before Me.” The defamer is called “the end of all flesh.” He comes to ask for judgment over people’s iniquities, which caused the judgment.
