PART 2: Baal HaSulam. Shamati 32, A Lot is an Awakening from Above.

Shamati 32. A Lot is an Awakening from Above.

Reading: (00:20) A lot is an awakening from above, when the lower one does not assist in anything. This is the meaning of cast a pool, the lot. Haman was complaining and said, neither do they keep the king's laws.

This means that enslavement begins for the worker in a state of lo Lishma, meaning for self-reception. Hence, why were they given the Torah? Because afterward, they are granted Lishma, and they are given the lights and the upper attainments. Then comes the complainant and asks, why are they given these sublime things for which they did not work or hope, but their every thought and goal were only over matters that concern their own needs, called lo Lishma.

This is the meaning of the wicked will prepare and the righteous will wear. This means that previously he was working in a state of wicked, meaning lo Lishma, but for the receiver. Afterward, he was rewarded with Lishma, meaning that all the servitude enters the domain of holiness, meaning everything is to bestow.

This is the meaning of the righteous will wear. This is the meaning of Purim as Yom Kippurim, the Day of Atonement. Purim is an awakening from above, and Yom Kippurim is an awakening from below, meaning through repentance.

However, there is awakening from above there too, corresponding the lots that were there, one lot for the Lord and the other for Azazel, and the Creator is the scrutinizer. 

M. Laitman: Questions?

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (03:16) These lots, they're the records that shine in us? 

M. Laitman: Lots and lots. 

Student: And how's that expressed in us? 

M. Laitman: By me wanting something new, something different, something that wasn't there before. 

Student: I see that in Kippur. When we cleanse, how do we accept it in Purim? How do we prepare ourselves? 

M. Laitman: Let's want it first, something. 

Student: He says that the wicked will prepare and the righteous will wear. When he works as the wicked, in Lo Lishma, where's the quality of the righteous? Does it develop in a person as he goes? 

M. Laitman: No, it's restricted. And later, when it's revealed, the clothing will come.  

Student: It's revealed from above? 

M. Laitman: Yes, it's revealed from above. 

Student: What does a person do for the preparation to make it be revealed? 

M. Laitman: We'll get there, and then you can ask, okay?  

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (04:59) He writes in the end that the Creator, He is the scrutinizer. What does that mean? 

Student: He scrutinizes which force is operating in a person, where a person follows that.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (05:34) He writes that other thoughts and goals were only for their own benefit, called Lo Lishma. That's the force of Lo Lishma, it works in a person? 

M. Laitman: I didn’t understand the question.

Student: The force of Lo Lishma, it directs a person to study the wisdom of Kabbalah, to want to advance in spirituality, it has to be some force that he starts with, right? 

M. Laitman: Yes. 

Student: So how now does he want to reach Lishma? Because he hears from Kabbalists that that's the way to reach Lishma. 

M. Laitman: So he continues to study further, and his desire turns more and more towards the direction of Lishma.

Student: Where does he gather such thoughts and goals if it's not in him? I want that force to control me, those thoughts that direct me to Lishma. 

M. Laitman: From where do you want? 

Student: Where am I going to get them from? 

M. Laitman: No, from where do you want it to be revealed? 

Student: If I really want to advance, so I hear they have to incorporate with that force. 

M. Laitman: Well?

Student: I don't want to remain in the state of Lo Lishma.

M. Laitman: Yes? 

Student: But that force controls a person. So how do I exchange it with a different force? What thoughts do I have for Lishma? 

M. Laitman: The same thoughts within which you want to invert from Lo Lishma to Lishma, those same thoughts will perform the action. 

Student: So that.. 

M. Laitman: Yes.
