Part 1:
Rabash. Article No. 24, (1990). What Does, “Everything that Comes to Be a Burnt Offering Is Male,” Mean in the Work?
Rav’s Introduction: Yes, well it's also clear to us that everything that comes to be a burnt offering is male because this is how we distinguish between male and female. Let's go.
1. S. (34:56) You tell us all the time that we need to learn from children how to behave. How with the Creator, as it says here, how a mother gives the food to the children, how she enjoys from it. Why is it so hard for us to receive from the Creator of what He wants to give us to eat, it's the best food and just enjoy it like kids?
R. Concealment, concealment. We don't see, we don't understand, it is not revealed. If it were revealed then everyone would be a complete righteous.
S. So how each time do we reveal this concealment only through connection with friends?
R. This is why all of our work is to remove the concealment.
S. And how exactly do we do that?
R. The group; there is no more.
S. My thoughts, as he says in the end, take my thoughts and to reach equivalence of form with the thought of the Creator? Is that as He wants to bestow good to us, that's how I need to be with friends?
R. Yes.
2. S. (36:29) We hear from people that the control of the heart is utilizing the mind, thoughts, faith. We also learned that after our heart follows our actions. Are these complimentary?
R. Yes, they're complimentary if a person performs many actions in a certain manner, then from the deed is also extended to the heart, habits and so on.
S. Can we also say this, that a person is adhered to the ten, it completes his heart and mind? The actions relate to both understanding and sensation?
R. Yes.
3. S. (37:30) I don't understand how we can enjoy from the work instead of the reward. He gives the example of the mother who feeds the kids?
R. Yes, so in the effort itself she derives pleasure, what she fed them?
S. Because she has love for the children but we who haven't yet been privileged with love, to enjoy from the work and not the reward?
R. So we need to get from the environment importance, importance for the work and try to carry it out as much as possible and out of that we will have a little bit of the light of pleasure and this is how we will learn that in actions of bestowal we get pleasure.
4. S. (38:42) He says until you have faith you have nothing really that's connected to the Creator, just the thoughts of the created being that we're familiar with. So what is faith?
R. Faith is the force that gives me the possibility to bestow even though there is no foundation for it.
S. What's the difference between faith and the sensation in the heart? What separates between them?
R. The feeling in the heart, this is already, seemingly, a fact, it exists already in five senses, seemingly. Whereas, faith is when I haven't yet reached the actual sense.
S. And yet still there is an order, right, first to reach faith and then sensation?
R. Yes.
S. How does the state “faith" get disconnected from the sensation?
R. It still hasn't expanded into the will to receive and therefore, we have that forces and discernments. However, it's still not enough in order for us to work with it. If we connect, if we support each other then our force of faith grows and it shifts from the degree of faith to the degree of knowing.
5. S. (41:11) We feel pleasure in the will to receive, so what's the difference between a vessel of reception and a vessel of bestowal if pleasure is received in the will to receive?
R. Pleasure is received in the will to receive. However the difference between reception and bestowal is that in the vessels of bestowal shines the upper Light and in the vessels of reception it doesn't shine but only the degrees where we raise the vessels of reception to receive in order to bestow which is a high degree.
S. There's a question. He says, “It's up to a person to focus all his work on being permanently in Dvekut, in adhesion with His thought and believe that He watches over the world as The Good Who Does Good and when he has this faith, he will be rewarded with everything.” So why does as it says here, why must we focus all of our work on this that the Creator is The Good Who Does Good and how to equalize with Him? Shouldn't the thought be how I equalize with the form of the Creator? Why does it say to focus on the Creator is The Good Who Does Good?
R. Because by that you change your relation to the Creator even under the degrees that you had before and also now. That everything that you're being operated, it's all being operated by The Good Who Does Good who is the Creator.
S. Final question. He says the Creator doesn't think about whether He's bestowing to His created beings and as such we shouldn’t also have such thoughts?
R. We shouldn't. We shouldn't think whether we are bestowing or not bestowing. We should simply act, so that our action will be complete, so we won't be thinking about the action but rather about the intention.
6. S. (44:00) Why, if we connect and support one another, does our force of faith grow?
R. Because we connect in the forces of faith in each one, in the forces of bestowal in each one.
S. What's the difference between force of faith and bestowal?
R. Well, you could say that indeed, if it's truly a force then it's the same, it is carried out through an action, an act of bestowal.
7. S. (44:47) What actions do we perform that controls the concealment?
R. Upon which actions there is concealment and restriction? Actions that stem from our will to receive which are the opposite of the Creator, there the Creator is not present and therefore there, there is no upper Light; His actions do not shine.
S. Let's say, we came to the morning lesson, did some action where we were supposed to seemingly receive and we didn’t?
R. It is all according to the intention, it is all according to the intention.
S. I don't understand this idea that you didn't receive reward, because of this something else begins to develop. What am I expecting to receive but didn't receive?
R. You have to expect to receive a reward, payment, that for your correct action you will get something from the Creator because He created this field of work for you and He wants you to carry out this work and get a reward, and a reward is what you choose. So what reward do I want?
S. So still I'm expecting some reward, let's say, I get some reward for getting here, for coming here, in one form or another, what’s concealed?
R. From Whom do you receive it?
S. For myself, the environment, the study, for some satisfaction that I come here with and I continue on with. But what is concealed from me, that if it was revealed then I would covet it so much and it would prevent me from reaching correction, the vessels of reception wouldn’t be corrected in such a situation? What’s this whole debate around?
R. There’s no debate or discussion here. People are asking about reward and punishment, about the work and the exertion and its reward. If you have no question about that, then fine.
S. That's what I'm looking for, something that's constant in each and every article and he always opens up with first concealment and then restriction, then we have this whole process. So I don't understand the beginning?
R. The Creator made a concealment so that we through our labor will chase away this concealment, we will cancel it, meaning how do we cancel it? The concealment doesn't go away but rather we in spite of the concealment we discover above the concealment what we are able to do through our connection in spite of our pride and ego and this is how we reach connection, nevertheless, and the result of that connection is that we discover the purpose of creation.
S. So where's the change that occurs by us that become some expectation with and suddenly?
R. Through our efforts, through the efforts you draw the reforming light and it reveals to you the true system that you exist in.
8. S. (49:20) He writes here that when a person wants to do Torah and Mitzvot on the intention to bestow, that he has some thoughts that come to him and gives him some bad depiction which prevents him from reaching adhesion. If we want to perform these actions, to adhere to the friends and we get these thoughts, they give us some bad depiction that prevents us from advancing towards these actions, then where’s our ability to act here?
R. When you make efforts even though you feel these are forces of rejection, you get closer to the friends, to get closer to the Creator, to draw the forming light, to discover what's truly happening in the thought of creation. All of these things you do them forcefully and then out of that, according to your efforts, the reforming light comes to you.
S. When I do these efforts, the thought awakens, and it gives me some bad depiction. How out of this thought can I continue to act in the same direction still? Because if the effort, I walk with some direction of connection and I suddenly get this depiction that it's bad for me, harming me. How will I have the power to continue then?
R. Did you connect with the friends?
S. I make the effort, I try.
R. If you will try and connect you will see how much in your efforts you will receive a fundamental change, an essential change.
S. In what?
R. You will begin to feel additional forces that go along with you and complete you.
S. And I will still need to make an effort against the thoughts or can I use these forces?
R. You will be able to use these forces. It's like when you, let's say, if you read about some problem in mathematics or it doesn't matter in what, and you sit together and you discuss it, so each one adds something and another adds something until you begin to scrutinize it more and more and until you solve the problem; here it is the same.
9. S. (52:22) I might be mistaken here. In order for the heart to be able to equalize itself to the common understanding in the ten, is there an order ahead of time that first I have to scrutinize my thought and then incorporate in the general scrutiny present in the ten and only afterwards he can respond to the heart? How is this in accordance with the equivalence of The Good That Does Good in the ten? This connects a bit to a workshop, our work that we want to make some improvement in our work. There's the matter that for our corporeal mind, it takes some time until it, to scrutinize something and then the next friend speaks and he cannot yet really incorporate, can't be there in certain states and to make some small break or even a person may write to himself and then continue. Otherwise we have problems with quality and the workshops they become kind of obligatory, the answers.
R. You're right.
S. I also wanted to ask, that during the preparation, our attitude to the concept of sacrifice, we don't truly understand so much what it means to sacrifice something dear to us, let's say, it's an action that's more in our minds or in our heart or sensation?
R. It's very much in the feeling but also in the mind, in the intellect. Which means that I am willing to give up on something that is very precious to me and then I discover that if I will give it up, I will get closer to the friends and I will be able to scrutinize with them things that are more internal. This is a sacrifice, an offering.
S. And after such a scrutiny then to check the intention is strong?
R. Yes of course, if I have given up something that is precious to me, according to the measure of my possession, I get closer to the friend and then I have the ability to scrutinize together with him things that are more essential. The most important is that a group that comes together, when they gather, they also search for in what way can I now give up something for the benefit of my friends in the group so that we will feel ourselves even closer to each other and here is all our work. It’s very important and also very productive, is this clear?
10. S. (56:44) The friends sometimes have very strong opposition. Sometimes even in the lesson to connection with the friends we already feel a rejection, it's hard for you to sit in your chair.
R. Because they did not make the right preparation.
S. Okay and you explain now that the sacrifices truly sacrificing for oneself?
R. Not from himself but it's that we sacrifice him and then we get closer to each other, heart to heart and this is how we feel ourselves, that we can see more and more, see ourselves as one.
S. In the article he speaks about a sacrifice that's rising, that's a covering for the transgression, that he has a flaw in faith above reason. Why do we sometimes get the sensation that to get closer to the friends that I need to truly annul myself and go above my reason?
R. In any case you have to annul yourself to some extent.
S. This correction of faith above reason, we seemingly come as a ten, there's the corporeal ten, right? We want to enter inwards to a more internal ten, where there's a deeper action in the ten through this action?
R. Yes.
S. In the article he also talks about the mother who makes efforts to buy the groceries and make food and feed the kids and she observes how the children are eating and doesn't even think about herself. She enjoys from the pleasure of the kids. How can each friend in the ten reach such a degree because we don't have let's say natural love like a mother, it seems that there is some nearing here?
R. Through examples, through examples that each one gives the others an example like a mother.
S. It's also in the internal action of a person towards a ten, that he can truly enjoy from this, that the friends are connecting?
R. Yes, of course.
11. S. (59:25) When the work becomes a reward, how does a person not use it for his own benefit I enjoy, the fact that I'm bestowing?
R. The moment that you turn your work from giving to receiving you are demanding a payment and you already fall from the spiritual degree. Then there's no spiritual progress in your work, there is nothing to demand for it.
S. I'm not talking about the demand but if the work itself is the reward, I mean immediately get that, the action itself. How when I am in that state where I actually get a reward for the work?
R. That is your calculation, can you do more? Will what you have now also be any intention to bestow? That is all your calculations.
12. S. (01:00:53) Annulment and concession. Is there a difference between them and isn't this incorporation what pulls us to this whole matter?
R. Also yes, because in the incorporation we are working above our personal will to receive of each one, then there is a special force in this.
13. S. (01:00:43) How does an act of concession that I perform make my friend who is in the present, make him greater, more good and benevolent before the concession that I made it?
R. Again.
S. How is the act of conception that before a friend who is standing opposite me, how will I define my friend in the present that he exists in reality of more good and doing good for him?
R. I do not understand. Did you get it ?
S. I think he is saying that if I make a concession that is not for me I want my friend to be more in the good who does good. How does one influence the other?
R. How does it influence me?
S. How does it influence the friend so that he will have a greater feeling of the good who does good?
R. Because my desire works on him.
S. He is asking how if I make a concession and the result appears in the friend?
R. But I intend for him.
S. How do I perform an action that is called concession, how do I concede so that the reality of my friend in the present, in our present will be more of the good that that's good?
R. You seemingly pass your forces to him, share with him, support him. That is it.
14. S. (01:03:32) As you said before, it is very important work, very fruitful work when everyone in the group gathers and everyone searches what each one can give up for others, so what should one give up on? Should we relinquish?
R. On himself, he needs to move himself aside in something, to make room for the Creator for the friends for the group.
15. S. (01:04:02) What kind of faith and incorporation should I need in a Ten so that I will be able to transform all the thoughts that come to me from the will to receive to a form that is based on the force of bestowal?
R. You need to be connected with all the friends in the group and raise a prayer to the Creator together and then you will receive assistance from him, to realize what you are asking for.
16. S. (01:04:48) There are other things that Ten's do which actually prevent the reforming light from performing in the Ten and conversely are there things in the Ten that they can do together that can draw the light even more?
R. Both.
17. S. (01:05:49) My question was about the calibration of mind and heart. Does it refer to a connected heart in the ten in order to be able to understand the mind of the Creator, in other words his thoughts?
R. Well, so what is the issue here? To make the effort to fill the heart together with the friends. To make the effort. Our efforts make all the difference, of course we cannot do corrections but we need to give the effort for the correction and then accordingly the Creator as it says, will finish for me.
18. S. ( 01:06:59) To offer and burn everything that comes is our work to elevate to the Creator, do we need to offer and burn for him all our thoughts, all of our desires?
R. We need to sacrifice all of the egoistic thoughts and in their place to receive thoughts of connection with the friends and the Creator. That is called sacrifice because by them but we get closer from one to another.
19. S. (01:08:05) It seems that many things depend on the faith, how can we strengthen the faith in the ten?
R. Only by connection between us faith is already a spiritual Force you shall bestow Mutual bestow that is faith and that is what we need to establish between us.
20. S. (01:09:18) What is the Creator's thought and how do we adhere to the Creator's thought as it says in the article?
R. In our intention, in our intention.
S. What is the Creator's thought?
R. It is the force that creates and maintains and corrects all of reality in one thought, everything was mad and brings everything which it created to the end of correction.
S. It is just that when we speak of a thought we seemingly are talking about some act of our brain and intellect. What is the Creator's thought?
R. Intention.
21. S. (01:10:38) Will we always make an effort to labor towards the state that we want to build or eventually to expand and we will not fall from it all the time? In what forces will you make actions of your own?
R. I suppose we will fall from the state all the time but if that state will expand will it take on a different character?
S. We will simply be together closer to the Creator and thus through mutual actions we will perform everything that is needed for all of creation?
R. If now we touch it only momentarily and later it will expand to the Ein Sof,to infinity?
22. S. (01:11:52) What does it mean in vessels of bestow that 613 Commandments are considered rests and so there is no labor in there any more?
R. One more time.
S. What does it mean when in the vessels of bestowal, when we have the vessels of bestowal that 613 Mitzvot are will have nothing to do with all the desires, thoughts and actions that we're egoistic we corrected them to the intention to bestow.
R. Because we have nothing left to do. All the desires, thoughts and actions that are egoistic are corrected to the intention to bestow.
S. We have nothing left to do when we have a vessel of bestowal?
R. Yes, when we turn all the vessels of reception to the vessels of giving meaning to the intention to bestow then we have nothing else to do that is it .
23. S. (01:13:42) When I think of the equivalence of form, the mind right away thinks that I will suffer in that state. How can I overcome this depiction of suffering in order not to leave the thoughts of bestowal?
R. Why would you suffer from this? It is not suffering when we achieve vessels of bestowal when you come to bestow to contribute to give you discover the pleasure that there is in these vessels that you connect with, on the contrary only action is relinquishing your ego but the connection with foreign vessels you feel pleasure in it fulfillment.
24. S. (01:14:58) What do we need to relinquish in the Ten,every time in order to feel my friends closer?
R. Our work is against the ego so that we can feel closer to our friends closer.that is the way.
25. S. (01:15:29) It is written in the article that no no comes from knowledge and reason Indonesian and connection so what is the connection between Faith before reason and faith that he is after that state?
R. One is above reason and one is below reason. Above reason is when we rise to the vessels of bestow. and below reason when we descend through the vessels of reception.
26. S. (01:16:32) He writes about man's thought, that filth and the evil inclination expand towards everywhere so the question is when the Creator reveal such a thought in me that does bad to the world Is it my personal work in front of the Creator or can I bring it to the Ten and work on it together?
R. Both. depending on how you decide.
S. It is written that if man is a hold with his influence of form in his thoughts so it affects the heart and the heart will do all the deeds for the sake of the heavens, what is that state where a person is whole and an equivalence of form with his thoughts?
R. I guess it is probably when his thoughts are all like the Creators as much as possible in all the thoughts.
