Part 1 Rabash. Record 805. Concerning Joy

We're reading from the writings of Rabash , Article 805, Concerning Joy. You can find the article in our systems, in Sviva Tova and the Arvut systems. Concerning Joy.

Reading Article: (00:43) Concerning Joy

Joy is a testimony. If a person becomes stronger in the matter of faith, to believe that the Creator is good and does good, that there is none above Him, although in the situation he is in right now he has nothing to rejoice with, meaning to be happy about, and yet he reinforces himself and says that the Creator watches over him in a manner of good and doing good, if his faith is sincere, it stands to reason that he should be happy and delighted. And the measure of joy testifies to the level of sincerity in his faith.

By this we can interpret what is said about Rabbi Elimelech, who would say that when he passes away and is told to go to hell, he will say, “If this is what the Creator wants, I will jump in.” That is, this is regarded as Providence of good and doing good. Thus, he is always happy.

M. Laitman: This is the article. It is short and to the point.

Question (Hadera 1): (02:44) How do we acquire faith?

M. Laitman: This comes from above. As a person sees himself as he is with the friends, it all comes from above.

Student: Can the Lord awaken the upper one to give him faith?

M. Laitman: Yes, of course. Let's read the article, this short article, and it will be more clear.

Re-Reading Article: (03:40) Concerning Joy

M. Laitman: That’s it. If a man is sure that what he does is the Creator's desire, then there is no problem, even if he is about to jump into the fire of hell, because the main thing is to fulfill the Creator's desire.

Question (Tbilisi): (06:07) Besides the first indicator of joy, he gives a second indicator of the level of our faith. It seems like he is speaking precisely about that. Can we control our mind based on faith?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: Lately, we are talking about a desire. We feel this huge desire, but it's aimed towards help, to be saved from the ego. But the task is to invert this aspiration, to turn it into an aspirational bestowal. Is it so?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (Turkiye 2): (07:29) What is joy, and what is the basic deficiency that we need to have to achieve it?

M. Laitman: Joy has to be that, because I fulfill the Creator's desire, and it can't be for a man to have bigger joy than this, when he knows that he fulfills the Creator's desire.

That's it.

Student: What is divine joy?

M. Laitman: Divine joy is the Creator's joy. Divine joy is what comes to a person and awakens joy in him.

Question (W Heb 2): (09:07) Are faith above reason and intellect and feelings always some kind of a lack in one or the other that I need to fill? Or do I need to remain in the feeling of the Creator, regardless of having these opposing feelings?

M. Laitman: If you feel that you have faith above reason, and it fills you, then you have nothing to worry about. You just have to think about how to thank the Creator.

Student: And the mind and the feelings, I'm doing it, and this makes no difference, right, just as long as we have this constant connection?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (W Heb 2): (10:11) There is this a matter of private Providence, and then we can truly hold on to none else besides Him that could do this good? There's also reward and punishment, that we know that what's happening depends on us and our actions. And then if there's some kind of a challenging state, and something unpleasant, then it feels like punishment, or it's like a lack of my exertion, then there's fear, trepidation, there's no joy there. So, how do we hold on to joy also when I'm in that state of reward and punishment?

M. Laitman: You have to be above this, higher than this, and you have to believe that by doing it as much as you can, fulfilling the Creator's desire, by this you receive a reward.

Student: I'm afraid that I didn't do enough or that I'm not okay.

M. Laitman: No, this can't be.

Question (W Heb 2): (11:23) How do I know that I'm fulfilling the Creator's desire? How do I know that I'm carrying out the Creator's desire? How do I know that I have to be happy from carrying out the Creator's desire?

M. Laitman: This depends on what's in front of you, what the Creator expects from you, and how you respond to His desire.

Student: How do I know I'm carrying out His expectations so I can be happy from that?

M. Laitman: According to your questions and His answers.

Student: Is it from this joy, that I feel I'm in connection with Him, that we can be happy from that. Do I need to do something with that joy? Do I need to pass it to the Ten? I cannot just have it remain with me as a Klipah.

M. Laitman: No, you don't need to pass it to anyone, but you need to be happy that the Creator is making you happy.

Question (W MAK 43): (12:49) When I feel discomfort and this darkness and don't receive the light, but I save the recognition that by that I return the light to the Creator. Can we say that this is the right form of the screen, since I feel that this darkness strengthens my intention for bestowal regardless of lack of personal fulfillment?

M. Laitman: I wouldn't say so.

Student: So, I need to examine it?

M. Laitman: If you don't have a personal feeling, a desire, an understanding of how it works, you cannot imagine for yourself all sorts of such states.

Question (Eng 1): (13:39) The state of joy is beyond me presently, but there's a sense of inevitability that I will be so bonded and adhered to the Creator. It's almost a feeling of, it's going to happen anyway, and that brings me great joy. There will be bumps along the way, I know that, but it's you who's lifted me up and given me access to this great knowledge, and I thank you for that. With this sense of inevitability, it gives me something to hang on to, because it's almost as if I feel it's going to happen. You get what I'm saying?

M. Laitman: Yes, I feel it right, that we have to try to make the Creator be revealed, then you then you'll feel to what extent it comes from Him.

Question (W MAK): (15:10) To always be in joy. Can we say that lack of success is success, and it's something that we'll understand later on?

M. Laitman: We have to act according to the time, and when we perform certain actions, we have to feel also the Creator's attitude to us.

Student: Another question. If I don't like what I receive, I simply need to change what I give?

M. Laitman: No.

Student: Why? In order to receive better? If I won't be able to give properly, then…

M. Laitman: Ask the Creator, and then everything will become clear to you.

Question (Kyiv): (16:26) Joy depends on faith, and faith depends on to what extent I justify the Creator, meaning my efforts to justify Him, together with the prayer.  Is that correct?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: We rise to joy through the suffering of darkness to the light. How does a person who rises to joy… He doesn't stop seeing what he rose over, right? Or does he?

M. Laitman: No, he's closer and closer to the Creator, and for him the feeling of joy comes in every move towards the Creator.

Student: It's a problem to understand this. I hear it often in the questions that the joy we can experience on the path is the correct form of joy. It turns out that this joy is in spirituality, despite seeing all the problems and suffering. It's such a very specific form of joy.

M. Laitman: It has to do with justifying the Creator.

Question (W MAK 104): (18:03) We, in advance, need to want this reward, or simply to work for the sake of bestowal.

M. Laitman: Where is your reward?

Student: Joy.

M. Laitman: What is it in?

Student: Joy from the work, from being in the process.

M. Laitman: No.

Student: Being filled up.

M. Laitman: This has no purpose. What do you want to feel in connection with the Creator?

Student: I seemingly don’t need any reward. I simply want to please Him and carry out what He is demanding and what needs to be done. And joy comes as a result, and sometimes you don't know how to recalibrate it and what to do with it.

M. Laitman: So, you don't care about the Creator?

Student: No, it's the opposite.

M. Laitman: Think about what you said. We'll talk about it more, but what you're saying is wrong.

Question (MAK 11): (19:34) There is this fear of receiving joy in the receiving vessels.

How do we escape it? Avoid it?

M. Laitman: I don't know what to tell you. If the joy is in the vessels of reception, is that not towards the Creator anymore?

Student: It's in the direction of the Creator, but seemingly for one's own sake.

M. Laitman: That's correct, but here there are some additions. We'll see. We'll talk about it.

Question (W SPA): (20:32) What is the connection between joy and faith in the Creator and what does joy indicate to us? To what extent we are in faith?

M. Laitman: The joy comes from connection with the Creator. The one who is not in connection can work on closeness with the Creator. And this is the sign.

Question (W Moscow 8): (20:32) What happens if with the intellect I understand everything that's happening is for the ascent. The Creator is creating such a state, and it's surely for the ascent of the whole Ten. And we talk about it, but in the feelings, joy doesn't come. Is there something in the way, some kind of a barrier?

M. Laitman: This happens, continue. The main thing is to continue.

Question (W Moscow 8): (22:07) Does the energy of joy help us to cleanse us of the desire to receive for ourselves?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (W Latin 13): (22:41) Is the Creator happy that I that I'm receiving come from Him?

M. Laitman: No, the Creator is never happy about blows.

Student: What do I need to do when I feel the blows?

M. Laitman: Make it so you don't get blows, be in joy.

Question (W MAK 70): (23:21) In the second part it's written that if his faith is sincere, then his mind automatically tells him that he needs to be in joy and the measure of joy testifies to the level of sincerity in his faith. There's this feeling that faith is a very important element. What is that measure?

M. Laitman: Measure is the amount of something.

Student: Why is it so important to accumulate a certain measure of something?

M. Laitman: According to the measure of something in us we want to give to the Creator.

Question (Moscow 1): (24:26) How in every situation, to hold our focus on constructing the spiritual deficiency and to wait for joy in the time accordingly.

M. Laitman: You have to engage in this all the time and then you'll see what you have to ask of the Creator, from the group, or from your connection with the friends. You have to make it so that you are always in the right intention.

Question (W German): (25:29) The joy that I pass to the Ten is rejected or not accepted the right way. So how do I do it correctly? How do I correctly pass joy to the Ten?

M. Laitman: Where do you get the joy?

Student: I receive the joy when I am together with my friends.

M. Laitman: So, continue. Continue and also bring the Creator closer so He embraces you and so that you feel joy together with Him.

Question (W MAK 123): (26:46) We have not yet cleansed ourselves of the ego, but we value what we are learning, and we are receiving the greatness of the Creator, and out of that there is a great inner joy. Can we know what kind of joy we need to reach?

M. Laitman: The deepest one. The deepest joy.

Question (W SPA): (27:26) Is there a state that belongs to love? And is it something constant?

M. Laitman: Joy doesn't have anything to do with love or with anything else. It's just joy. You have to achieve joy because you are with the Creator, and you have joy because you are in connection with Him.

Student: Does joy need to be constant?

M. Laitman: Yes, as much as possible.

Question (W MAK 19): (29:12) In the last section, it's talking about that when he would pass away and he's told to go to hell, then he'll say: If this is what the Creator wants then I'll jump in. What is that entrance into hell?

M. Laitman: I don't know, but we can ask the Creator and let's hope He'll give us the answer.

Question (W MAK 51): (29:55) When the truth is revealed with this bitter taste, is it something that's within the intellect or is it the Creator who gives us this feeling of joy based on our efforts and brings us into the middle line?

M. Laitman: The Creator.

Student: Is the effort on my part a transition to the right line or is it prayer? What is my action in this transition?

M. Laitman: Your action is to turn to the Creator with all of your desires.

Question (W MAK 23): (30:47) How do we strengthen this faith in the Creator that He is the good that does good?

M. Laitman: To strengthen it; to want to be just like Him.

Question (W ITA): (31:30) Elimelech says to be in joy even if it brings hardships.

M. Laitman: That's the answer, yes.

Question (Hadera 1): (31:57) The reward for the effort is adhesion. When the Creator brings us closer, this is joy, but when He pushes us away, this is punishment. There is pain due to the distance, so there is a feeling that He pushes us away. What is the cause and effect?

M. Laitman: Joy.

Student: So, in every state we need to be….

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (Hadera 1): (32:36) True joy can only be when there is a feeling of the Creator, when it's felt as this open connection with Him to come to the Creator and feel the vessels of bestowal. Before this it felt like it's only in the mind. It's as if a person can do it but it's really because of connection with Him.

M. Laitman: Okay.

Question (W MAK 98): (33:15) If the level of joy speaks of the level of faith, so if we're not in joy continuously, what happens to our faith?

M. Laitman: Then we don’t have faith.

Question (W Kyiv 7): (33:40) How do we build the desire in the Ten so we feel good and this brings joy to the Creator and helps us come to Lishma?

M. Laitman: First of all. think about what you're doing, that you're doing it for the Creator and secondly for yourself.

Question (W MAK 56): (34:09) When a man comes to the truth, he wants to stay there, or there are exits there?

M. Laitman: there are exits and fallouts.

Student: So, there are fallouts, but he can enter there while he's purified from the ego?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (W Spain): (34:54) What can we learn from Rabbi Elimelech, about his desire even for hard things to agree with the desire of the Creator?

M. Laitman: The main thing is to be in adhesion and to hear the Creator's desire and to try to carry it out as much as possible.

Question (W Italy): (35:27) What is the difference between being joyful in response of an action and trying to smile even when I am sad?

M. Laitman: The difference is in your attitude.

Question (W Petah Tikva 23): (36:13) How do we ask for joy from the Creator when we don't have joy, when we don't have this feeling.

M. Laitman: We need, as fast as possible, to reach joy. Otherwise, we will have no connection with the Creator.

Question (W Turkiye 7): (36:48) Does our feeling of connection with the Creator mean we can enter the further spiritual degree? What actions can we do in the Ten to give pleasure to the Creator?

M. Laitman: Which actions? Only actions of bestowal. I don't have anything else to answer.

Actions of bestowal.

Question (W MAK 97): (37:29) How to have joy for the past, when you understand that you used to live like a beast, manipulating the lives of others? On the one hand, you understand that it's all from the Creator, that the Creator put you in this abyss, but it doesn't justify your actions because you had the right choice, but you didn't do it.

M. Laitman: You couldn't do it. When we reach the future world, then we'll know the whole truth. In the meantime, we just need to act out of ascribing more and more of what's happening to us to the Creator.

Student: Today I have joy because I have the Creator, the teacher and friends, and I don't want any other joys. Is this a correct state?

M. Laitman: Yes. Thank you.

Question (W French): (39:06) A friend says that sometimes it's all good and she sees the friends in joy. If I look inside, I see that the ego rules. How do we fight against the desire to receive that brings us farther away from the friends? How do we change this desire to give, to be in joy constantly?

M. Laitman: Try to be in connection with the Creator, to raise oneself to a connection with the Creator, and to ask of Him to be in a connection with Him constantly.

Question (W MAK 26): (40:36) From the article it follows that joy is a result of agreement with the Creator?  From where do we achieve true acceptance when I have kind of fake acceptance or completely disagree? How can I achieve this statement I agree with the Creator?

M. Laitman: Based on what Rabash writes.

Question (Nikolaev-Sochi): (41:19) Does this joy depend on the person's natural qualities. if one is an optimist and someone is a dry and coarse depressive? Does this depend on their qualities?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: How can we learn the kind of optimism you have or at least justify a friend.

M. Laitman: Do I have constant joy?

Student: You always look optimistic.

M. Laitman: Of course, if the Creator is above me and is controlling me, then of course I'm always in joy. I'm always in connection with the Creator. What else do you want? Do you want me to cry all the time?

Student: No, we want to learn from you.

M. Laitman: So, I'm telling you. If you believe that the Creator is directing everything and there's none else besides Him, then you must be always in the connection with the Creator. You always need to have a feeling of eternity and wholeness. So, accustom yourself to that and thank the Creator.

Student: Should we come to the Ten irrespective of whether you're an optimist or a pessimist? There are some people that are more dry, especially for men it can be like this.

M. Laitman: We need to do what the Creator demands of us, in any case. Beyond that you see where you can have your own opportunity to give thanks. Try.

Question (W Ukraine 2): (43:53) Joy is a result of the correct connection in good relationships in the Ten, or the Creator?

M. Laitman: That's not important, but it's always a result of a good deed

Question (PT 13): (44:44) Is joy a source of the good, or is this a specific source that the Creator demands from us?

M. Laitman: Joy is always from the Creator.

Student: Even if we have joy from a corporeal gift, that's also good?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (W MAK 113): (45:18) The bigger our desire for correction and unity the quicker that brings us closer to Him, and we're in a state of this feeling of joy. There's a direct link between our desire to unite and be corrected and His desire to fill us with joy? Does this direct link exist?

M. Laitman: Yes, this direct connection exists.

Question (W Moscow 5): (46:03) This opportunity comes when you want to deserve joy. What is this state, not just being joy, but deserve? What feelings appear? I understand that it's something important, and I want to deserve this joy, not just receive it.

M. Laitman: Merit it by raising the Creator higher and higher and connecting everything that's happening with Him.

Student: Can I speak this aloud in the Ten?

M. Laitman: You could. You could do everything that I'm telling you,

Question (W KabU 13): (46:55) When joy arises from our connection with the Creator and our friends, how do we not receive this for ourselves and feel shame? How do we shift this intention above the shame?

M. Laitman: We need to try for joy to come to us as a result of commandments, of good deeds.

Question (W MAK 25): (47:49) Is there a limit for the expression of joy in the Ten? If the friends aren't inspired by…

M. Laitman: You won't be able to do anything, but look for another Ten or different friends. I don’t know what to tell you.

Student: Perhaps I won't look for a different Ten, but should we look for a measure?

M. Laitman: Faith needs to be complete, the full measure of faith.

Question (Haifa 1): (48:33) He writes that joy is a sign of…

M. Laitman: It’s a testimony that you are going on the right path.

Student: This evidence is a condition.

M. Laitman: Not a condition, but rather it’s a sign that you are going on the right path.

Question (W PT 23): (49:17) You told a friend that you have to hear the desire of the Creator, try to fulfill it. If I don't understand what the Creator wants me to do, how do I hear the desire?

M. Laitman: Speak with a friend, and they will explain it to you.

Question (W MAK): (49:43) What is this faith when a person is prepared to fulfill the Creator's desire immediately?

M. Laitman: That means he has a good level of faith

Question (W Heb 2): (50:14) You gave us a wonderful piece of advice to turn to the Kabbalists advice, and we understand this response, but how to find it there? Is there a difference between what they write in the article to speak it aloud or someone is reading it?

M. Laitman: It doesn't matter. It's not important.

Question (W Heb 2): (51:03) In the lessons we deal a lot with Lishma, LoLishma. With respect to the prayer, when we intend to be in the prayer of many, is it in Lo Lishma or can it come to the state of Lishma?

M. Laitman: She can reach Lishma.

Question (W Heb 2): (51:36) If a friend is in a state of descent, she doesn't feel joy. If I make her happy, make her laugh, bring a good spirit, does that mean I performed a good action?

M. Laitman: Yes

Student: To bring her joy with a joke or something?

M. Laitman: Yes. That's a great comment.

Question (W Hebrew 2): (52:12) How do I connect joy in the corporeal. Let's say, if it's a connecting event like a marriage, or Bar Mitzvah, with spiritual joy?

M. Laitman: The difference is who are you doing it for, for the sake of the Creator or for the sake of your friends?

Question (W German): (53:12) I have such a feeling of adulthood recently and internally I have a sense of joy from it, but I don't want to express it outwardly. Does the joy have to be expressed outwardly or should I continue to work on the joy internally?

M. Laitman: You can do whatever actions you want.

Question (W MAK 56): (53:47) There's a feeling when the desire becomes stronger to elevate His name. This fills a person with joy. Is this a person following the desire of the Creator? And for this we need to disseminate his greatness?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: Does this become also his desire, or does he only have one desire?

M. Laitman: It's a strengthening of the connection.

Question (W MAK 23): (54:45) Bowing the head before the Creator that everything depends on Him. Is this faith above reason?

M. Laitman: It leads to it.

Question (Lithuania 1): (55:09) There’s a state of constant joy, or will it happen only with the correction of Israel? What does it mean?

M. Laitman: It means the fact that we're coming closer to a correction that evokes joy in us.

Question (W MAK 19): (55:59) Does the measure of joy depend on the measure of faith?

M. Laitman: Yes, it's dependent.

Question (W MAK 104): (56:41) If my thoughts are correct, the joy is a result of self-annulment. It’s a different state. If a person is in such a state, then he can't demand any reward?

M. Laitman: You got confused. You need to think.

Question (W Ukraine 2): (57:17) If a person is in some depression, sadness, for a long time, and if he's had enough of this, if he's tired of this state, he comes to a feeling that I can awaken this joy, with what actions should cause this new state?

M. Laitman: You can evoke it through different actions.

Question (W Europe 3): (57:59) You've said many times ask the Creator and you'll hear the response. How do I determine if it's the Creator's response or my ego's response?

M. Laitman: That comes afterwards. First of all, ask and then understand what He answers you, and then we'll talk about what to do with His answer.

Question (Tbilisi): (58:29) When we speak of joy, I have joy, not because of actions but some general background of joy that's constant, because firstly, there's greatness of the Creator, and the Creator's great. I try to work for Him. He gave me the Rav, He gave me the friends, and this joy accompanies me. All of my actions, everything comes from Him. Do I please the Creator with this, and is this called a constant connection with the Creator?

M. Laitman: Yes, this is a constant connection with the Creator, a correct connection, and accordingly you will receive an answer from Him for that. I promise you.

Question (Tbilisi): (59:39) I'm in such a state, I don't want to perceive anything personally. I want to feel my Kli, my friends, and the desires of my friends. I don't want to perceive individually, like I do. I want it to come from the “we”. Is this self-annulment?

M. Laitman: This is the annulment of your I and adhesion with all the rest of the vessels.

Be well until tomorrow.
