Part 3: Winning the War - Selected excerpts to reinforce the World Kli and for peace in the world. Sub heading: Fighting the Evil Inclination

M. Laitman: Yes, please.

Reader: We are in the lesson on the topic of “Winning the War.” We're going to read Selected Excerpts, continuing from number two.You can send questions. We are talking about the sub-category, Fighting the Evil Inclination.

Reading: (00:40) 2. RABASH, Article No. 6 (1989), "What Is Above Reason in the Work?"

During the work, a person should say, “If I am not for me, who is for me?” At that time in the work, they think that they themselves are doing the ascents and descents, that they are men of war, called Tzava, “mighty men.” Afterward, when they are redeemed, they attain that the Lord is of hosts [Tzevaot], meaning that the Creator made all the ups and downs they had.

In other words, even the descents come from the Creator. A person does not get so many ups and downs for no reason. Rather, the Creator caused all those exits. We can interpret “exit” as “exit from Kedusha [holiness],” and Ba [comes] as “coming to Kedusha. The Creator does everything. Hence, after the redemption, the Creator is called “Lord of Hosts.”

M. Laitman: Yes, this is what Rabash writes. Questions?

Question (Kyiv 1): (02:27) Why is the Creator called a warrior then? After all, He does everything. Why is the Creator called Tzevaot? If he does everything, the ascents and descents?

M. Laitman: To take part in this whole operation as humanity, we have to match Him to some extent. And so it is written that we take part in this actively, and we need to check, examine ourselves, and correct ourselves through prayer. And wherever we discover that we aren't participating enough, well, that's what it says, that's what it speaks of here.

Reader: Excerpt number three.

Reading: (03:47) 3. RABASH, Article No. 10 (1985), "Jacob Went Out"

It is known that Eretz [earth] implies the will to receive, which is the foundation, since all of creation and all the bad that exists in the world extend from this desire, as it is known that all the wars, murders, and so forth are rooted in the will to receive.

M. Laitman: Meaning, what we feel at every moment, and all the changes we can feel in the relations between us and the Creator, or between ourselves, our advancement in the work, in the process that we're going through, it all relates to our work. To the war we need to wage against the evil inclination. And therefore, fighting against the evil inclination, that's our primary concern. That's what we need to tie ourselves to, and to constantly examine.

Question (Latin 8): (05:38) What is considered a descent? In corporeality sometimes people think that losing one’s job, having a problem with the family. But what is descent, precisely?

M. Laitman: A descent is a feeling of being remote from the Creator. And the ascent, that's coming closer to the Creator. That's how we need to interpret it, to feel it, and accordingly to understand things and work.

Question (Haifa 1): (06:43) How can you help a friend who knows there's None else besides Him, but he's stuck really hard, and if I'm not for myself, then who is?

M. Laitman: That's correct. If no one is for me, then who will be?

Student: Yes, but at the end of the day, There is None Else besides Him.

M. Laitman: That's after you made efforts in “if I'm not for myself, who will be for me?” After everything you went through today, then at the end of the day, you can then say that I did whatever I could, what the Creator allowed what I could do in order to connect to Him, and so to continue.

Student: I'm speaking of a friend who is suffering, he's stuck for a long, long time. You doubt my capabilities, and each time he's buried, he's getting buried more and more. And I want to help him, and I can't. I can't.

M. Laitman: We need to try and continue.

Question (Lithuania 1): (08:20) It always appears that the evil inclination precedes us. How to identify it? How to identify when it starts operating on the person? How to always be attentive towards what it's doing with us?

M. Laitman: We need to continue. We need to accept the evil inclination that the Creator created, and He's running it, and we're on the other side. We need to try and wage a war of the evil inclination. Try to take it out from under the control of the Creator, and not let go of our war with the evil inclination until we begin to feel that we have the possibility of saving ourselves.

Student: What do you mean by the word to fight, to wage a war? What are the actions of waging a war?

M. Laitman: The actions of waging a war are not letting go of it; we located precisely against the Creator, and how it's working to conceal the Creator. If we continue this way, we'll reach a state where we cancel the evil inclination.

Question (Turkiye 1): (11:14) How can a person win the war, or win the struggle with the help of the power of prayer? How does he win this war?

M. Laitman: First of all, he constantly convinces himself that this is what was given to him, and he is now face to face with his enemy. And then, when he falls into the will to receive, he tries to come out of it, and later to win over it, meaning in all the states that he's going through, he's trying to understand Him, to diagnose in him the harshest, the most difficult states.

Question (Almaty): (12:48) We constantly speak of the war against evil inclination and how our task is to win that war. But we also understand that without evil inclination, you can't build the right lines. That's where the boundaries of the triumph over the evil inclination.

M. Laitman: We can't advance without evil inclination because our advancement is in how each time we receive forces to control it, to control the evil inclination. That is why anything you can do to attain this victory, you should do it. Meaning to get up, to wake up, to go to bed, and during the day, to pick myself up, to be between us in the group, constantly have such confidence that we're supporting each other, and in this way to continue to advance until the Creator won't agree with the fact that we receive the good inclination, which corresponds to the evil inclination, and then in that good inclination, we begin to see the entire world.

Question (Turkiye 7): (14:55) What is the correct way to share the war against the evil inclination with the Creator?

M. Laitman: We need to try to detect the evil inclination, the force that interferes with us, to reach adhesion with the Creator, connection with the Creator, closeness, and ask Him in our prayer to ask the Creator to help us defeat him. That is all. That is our whole war. It's quite complicated, but that's what we need to do.

Question (Azerbaijan): (16:17) How can we, between the friends, strengthen the good inclination between us?

M. Laitman: Through that in which we study together, pray together, want to connect together. Accordingly, upon every disturbance on the path, we overcome it by connecting between us. We have no other force, only that is what is before us.

Question (Latin 6): (17:11) When we work on the connection in the Ten, do they become an army in such a state?

M. Laitman: We try to be dependent on each other, involved in each other, and accordingly to progress more and more forward upon all the disturbances that the Creator according to His system brings down to us. And that is how we come to the general connection.

Question (Tel Aviv 3): (18:13) Why is the ascent called redemption? Why is an ascent, when a person ascends from a descent, why isn't it called redemption? Because he says that redemption is that a person determined that everything was by the Creator, the leader of the army. Why does he, why is it not called redemption when he ascends from his descents?

M. Laitman: Redemption requires a few conditions. That we rise above them, we succeed to ascend, and that is called redemption. Here, the meaning is that the person applies efforts, he asks for help, he receives some help, and as a result, he receives a certain ascent, partially a certain kind. That is partial success in his war with the evil inclination.

Student: How can we define redemption? What is that?

M. Laitman: Redemption is that the Creator reveals to you, in that force that you feel that you are close to, you can defeat all the disturbances that you have.

Question (Turkiye 7): (20:21) The evil inclination controls our desires. How can a person separate between the evil inclination to his desire in order to bring the desire for correction, to give the Creator contentment?

M. Laitman: A person is in a state where he starts seeing that everything he thinks that he can exert him it is all through the use of the evil inclination of his ego. And from that vision and understanding, he has a feeling, and a negative feeling of the evil inclination. And that helps him detach from the evil inclination and think only about the good inclination. He wants to be connected with his parts that can receive the good inclination as his force of redemption. And that is how he progresses.

Question (PT 31): (22:10) In a corporeal war, when there's an enemy that is stronger than us, so you don't start that war. And if he fights you, either you surrender, or you lose. How should a spiritual war look when a person feels that he doesn't have a lot of forces?

M. Laitman: The spiritual war is in that we relate to our desire, the ego, and we want to cleanse  it from that same ego. And that is what happens to us.

Student: What's the meaning of the little actions in the war, the little efforts?

M. Laitman: That is that we are capable of detecting them, and that we are capable somehow of doing something against them because they are small, and that is how we progress.

Student: What does it mean that I was able to subdue the evil inclination?

M. Laitman: That is that I do not want to go on the path by which my ego draws me and pushes me forward, but that I think how, through the use of my qualities, how can I come closer to bestowal.

Student: Last question. What happens with the inclination while we don't fight it, or we don't have the forces to? So, what happens with it?

M. Laitman: If I have no forces, or if there is some other reason, so I cannot. I thus do not progress in that, or even I go backwards. That is how it works.

Question (Woman Latin 26): (24:57) How can we want connection and love of others when it goes against our nature, that the connection is actually what we do need?

M. Laitman: We need to connect ourselves with our group, and afterward more and more with broader publics, but without changing the goal, that we want to constantly advance to the Creator, and as much as we will be included with more groups, so then we'll be able to advance more toward Him. We'll be able to bring Him more contentment.

Question (PT 33): (26:10) On one hand, we say None else besides Him, the Good that does good, and now we just read that everything is based on the evil. So, it's not clear where to add The Good That Does Good. How do these things connect?

M. Laitman: It really is complex. You can see how we do that. Only by receiving a force, a force, really a spiritual force, that we are capable of controlling our evil inclination, which is how we progress more and more.

Question (Florida): (27:25) What causes me to feel a descent when I'm remote from the Creator? What does it mean to be remote from the Creator?

M. Laitman: It is expressed in that he does not understand what is demanded of him. He does not feel what state he is in. Or he sees that he is in a bad connection with a certain group, with someone. Meaning, those are the states. And the remedy for all those states is only to connect above reason to the desire to correct, which is in nature, the force of bestowal, the force of love. He asks for that force to influence him and to control him. And to that extent, a person can enter into the positive force, or he can reach a group and accordingly progress.

Question (Woman MAK 43): (29:26) Can we say that true faith is not that I believe in Him, but that He is in the faith? And that is the form of His presence in me.

M. Laitman: In the meantime, we are not speaking about faith. Faith is a special force that we receive from above. It fills our desire, which nourishes our entire essence. And to that same extent, we are capable of directing ourselves at the Creator.

Question (PT 29): (30:36) How can we organize as a Ten to endlessly fight that inner war until we completely win? What will be called a victory or a loss in this war?

M. Laitman: That is what we now learn in all of our lessons. In every day where we study in the first hour from 4 a.m. until 5 a.m., we do not leave this topic yet of how to defeat, how to win the war of the evil incarnation.

Question (Woman Unity): (31:54) To succeed to silence the voice in me is to reach an inner dialogue with the Creator and end the dialogue. What happens with my desire? Does it grow, or does it become smaller, or does it grow?

M. Laitman: We need to try to exit my will to receive, rise until the will to bestow, to connect with more such desires of my friends, and to that same extent, by which the desire will be bigger and bigger, it will become stronger, so to that same extent I will be able to increasingly think about how I can awaken the positive force from my group, and in that way to help them, to help everyone to rise together with me.

Student: Could we say that one desire ends, and then it's the beginning of the next, the good inclination?

M. Laitman: Yes, certainly. There is a major difference between a good and a bad desire.

Student: So, I can go from one deficiency to the other?

M. Laitman: Try.

Question (Woman Heb 1): (33:40) I wanted to ask about this war between the good and evil inclinations. When a person reaches attainment, does he reach balance, or is it always a war? Or does he know how to work with those two directions in an equal way, or is it always a war?

M. Laitman: He reaches a state where these two directions for him turn into gradually one direction.

Question (PT 35): (34:29) I heard that one of the fundamental and important conditions to reach redemption is to ask from the Creator. Because in the end we ascribe everything to Him, the good and the bad. Why is it so hard to ask for help from the Creator?

M. Laitman: We don't feel Him. Neither the good or the bad control. It's only in the force of our imagination that we build Him. Therefore, when the Creator starts becoming revealed, we then have all the strength to reach Him, to grasp hold of Him. And accordingly, to rise through Him.

Student: So, now we're not in that feeling like you're describing.

M. Laitman: Still not.

Student: So, how can we uplift and reach this plea to the Creator that He'll take us out and bring us to redemption?

M. Laitman: Therefore Kabbalists, mainly Rabash, write to us that we can try to reach with all of our forces the good inclination. And afterward, when we will have a grasp of the good inclination, then we can try to be in it and strengthen only that.

Student: What conditions should we bring to the Ten in our daily work to be able to hold on to the good inclination?

M. Laitman: The force of the connection between us. That if we can be connected to each other and feel that we support each other, then each one receives the strength of everyone. And accordingly, we rise from degree to degree.

Question (Latin 1): (37:45) How can I convince myself that what governs me is my desire to receive?

M. Laitman: To convince? To think about that more. Ask the friends. Discuss it with them. Then you will see how much there is a lot to do here. And other than you, no one can do that.

Question (USA Northeast): (38:44) I was wondering, how do we know if we are truly feeling distance from the Creator? How do we know that this is a real feeling?

M. Laitman: Ask again. Ask again.

Student: How do we know that the feeling we are feeling is really a feeling of distance from the Creator?

M. Laitman: We feel it. We feel it. We feel it in that we can ask and not hear a response. We can subdue ourselves towards the Creator. Maybe, however we understand. But we don't receive any response by that.

Question (PT 8): (40:06) We have that saying that through trickery you wage war. We see that the Creator really performs all kinds of tricks on us. He awakens the inclination to control us. What tricks can we do against it? Except for what we say, connection always, which is the only thing. What are the tricks we could do?

M. Laitman: But in connection you have many of these tricks or ploys that you can do many things. Try to connect with others. To elevate your point of connection higher and higher. It's important. Think.

Student: So all our actions are around that central point of connection between us.

M. Laitman: Yes. That is the main part of the war.

Question (PT 3): (41:22) It's written in Psalms. If a war comes against me, I still trust You. What do I trust?

M. Laitman: That through the war with your enemies, you can achieve the correct goal. Now let's go to the side of women.

Question (Woman Turkiye): (42:09) We learn that in order to advance in the work, the will to receive needs to grow. We need to increase it. So, how when we do that to also control the evil inclination?

M. Laitman: Again.

Student: The will to receive needs to keep growing. It's a good thing in our work. So how, while it's growing, we also keep the evil inclination to be in balance.

M. Laitman: We try to be in a neutral state, as much as it is possible, in order to detect what direction the will to receive pulls us. Or what exactly do we need to do by ourselves in order to feel where we have as a result of the influence of the will to receive upon us.

Question (Woman PT 33): (43:37) You said that the more we support each other and incorporate in one another, each one can feel the force of everyone. So, how practically can we be more dependent on one another? What should we do for that?

R. In order to advance to the purpose of creation, we need to be connected among each other and to constantly await the Creator to come down to us, to help us.

Question (Woman MAK): (44:44) In the war of the evil inclination, what is the answer we should do to defeat the entire ego?

M. Laitman: In principle, we do not destroy them. We cover them with the force of the Creator, which acts on us, which lets us, to a certain degree, rise.

Question (Woman Europe): (45:50) In this war, how can we recognize the evil inclination? Because it's constantly hiding as something good. It's like escaping and appearing as something good. So, how can we identify that evil inclination?

M. Laitman: According to that in which we do not find the strength to implement it. According to that, we identify that this force is seemingly an evil force, that it relates to the evil inclination.

Question (Woman Argentina 1): (46:52) When we're in a spiritual war against the ego, and we express that those words, the Lord of the armies in our prayers, and how will the connection lead us to that state?

M. Laitman: I don't really understand what they're asking.

Student: She's asking if the prayer, by mentioning that expression, “the Lord of armies,” can that help us advance, and how can the connection between us bring us to that state of “The Lord of armies?”

M. Laitman: If have connection with that force, so certainly the use of that force can advance us. But it's only on condition that the person can detect it. We with you are now before this very big map, which includes within itself the whole planet with all of its inhabitants. What we want to do is connect the desire of each and every one upon this planet so that they will all be directed as much as possible, each and every one of them, but at least something very small, it doesn't matter, that will be directed at the purpose of creation.

Question (PT 20): (49:08) How to win this war against evil inclination when it feels like we're fighting against the landlord, because the evil inclination is one of his functions. So, to fight the evil inclination is fighting the Creator.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: So, how to fight against them but not against his function?

M. Laitman: To ask Him, to ask the Creator to help us defeat our evil inclination.

Student: Not to relate to his function but to the Creator?

M. Laitman: We don't need to try to scrutinize that. That's incorrect.

Student: What's wrong in that attitude?

M. Laitman: That you relate all that to the Creator. The Creator did that in His external appearance through His external action so that through that external action you'll be able to reach an internal action.

Question (Woman PT 23): (50:24) We heard that in order to want connection we need to connect ourselves to our group, and then more with a broader public. So, what what should we focus on more during a war: dissemination or our inner work.

M. Laitman: Between us we focus on inner work, and afterward in circles wider and wider ones, we include all the people who are in the world and try to connect them in the picture of the complete circles.

Question (Woman PT 23): (51:32) In this effort to add to the circles, like you said to direct the entire earth to the purpose of creation, is it right to focus on dissemination that the war is against the hatred between us, or that the help of the Creator is the true salvation?

M. Laitman: The help of the Creator. That can surely help us become saved from our Klipot, from our shells, from our evil inclination, from all the problems that are between us.

Student: It's felt.

Question (Woman Rehovot 1): (52:25) You said we should fight the evil inclination, and that should be all of our concern. That's what we have to connect make ourselves to constantly check. What should we check all the time? How do we do this checking?

M. Laitman: As much as we can rise upon the evil inclination. That is how we check.

Student: Who's fighting this war? The Creator, man, how does it happen?

M. Laitman: The Creator, in relation to every action that the person wishes to do.

Question (Woman Turkiye 7): (53:25) I heard that we need to build the connection between us. So, the question is, what feelings should we develop to have a true necessity for connection?

M. Laitman: Again, the question.

Student: What feelings should we develop in order to have a true necessity for connection?

M. Laitman: We all need to be connected, all of us together, men and women, from all the countries, from all parts of the world. And gradually, according to that in which we connect, we'll start feeling the center of our connection, having much more forces, much more desires. And that is how we will advance. That's where we'll meet.

Reader: Let's go to a lesson summary in the Ten .
