Daily Lesson (Afternoon) May 21, 2024

Part 1: Rabash. Record 638. “Man’s Inclination.”

Reader: Hello. We're learning from the writings of Rabash, Article 638, Man's Inclination. You can find it on Sviva Tova and the Arvut systems, Man's Inclination. Rav, please.

M. Laitman: I will hear from you.

Reading Article: (00:39) Man's Inclination.

“Man’s inclination overcomes him every day, and unless the Creator helps him, he cannot overcome it.” We should ask about this: It is known that everything is in the hands of heaven but the fear of heaven, so why did they say, “unless,” etc.?

“Man’s inclination overcomes him every day, and unless the Creator helps him, he cannot overcome it.” We should ask about this: It is known that everything is in the hands of heaven but the fear of heaven, so why did they say, “unless,” etc.?

All the miracles are attributed to the Creator, meaning, regarded as an awakening from above, and not as an awakening from below, since the lower one cannot do something that is above nature. But in order for a miracle to be done to him, a person should pray that a miracle be done to him.

Hence, the work from the perspective of the lower one, meaning that he will make a choice, was said only about the prayer, and then the Creator hears the prayer. Therefore, one is given one’s wishes, and the rule is that a prayer pertains specifically to a deficiency.

For this reason, a person must create within him a need and a deficiency for faith, for only when one sees and feels that he is lacking faith, and to the extent that he needs it, since he sees that for himself he cannot receive the above-mentioned, then he makes a true prayer that the Creator will help him, and then the Creator makes a miracle for him and gives him the light of faith.

However, one must be careful not to enjoy this light, as our sages said, “One does not enjoy the work of miracles.” This means that acceptance of faith should be only for the purpose of bestowal and not for the purpose of reception, for then there is room for the spirit of Kedusha [holiness] to be on him.

If he wants the above-mentioned light in order to have pleasure, since he feels that the corporeal pleasures are not eternal, so he wants an eternal pleasure, and this is why he asks for faith—he immediately loses the light of Kedusha

Instead, one must ask because the Shechina [Divinity] is in exile, meaning that he wants to sanctify the name of heaven in him, and not to have foreign thoughts, since he cannot tolerate the slander that the body says about Kedusha, as it is written, “All day long, my enemies curse me.” At that time, the Creator makes a miracle for him and gives him faith above reason, and he is rewarded with permanent faith.

Question (Kyiv): (05:42) How do we nonetheless receive faith, not for the sake of miracles, but for the sake of bestowal? Since the Creator does show some miracles, how do we not receive them or reject them?

M. Laitman: How to differentiate between the light that comes to us in order to see? Why is it coming to us? Is it to see the force of faith, or just simply to elevate me, that I will see more, whatever is happening? I think that we need to depict to ourselves more what does it mean to be in faith. We do not depict to ourselves how great of a power it is. In our world, this is how faith and believers are. It's all somehow weird, to be honest. The force of faith is the force that pulls a person above everything. And then the person can get along to run himself.

Question (Turkiye 2): (07:45) What is the real prayer that one must pray in order to make this miracle happen?

M. Laitman: Prayer from the heart, that he truly wants to reach the quality of bestowal, to faith above reason, to wanting to bestow what he receives from the Creator to everyone, and this is how it is.

Student: In the morning lesson I heard that if a person comes to the prayer, he has to come to Kedusha. How can I come to this Kedusha?

Reader: In the lesson, a person needs to reach shame. How do we reach that shame that we're talking about?

M. Laitman: We will examine what is demanded of him and what he is doing. By that, the person will examine to what extent he receives and to what extent he wants to bestow and where in relation to all that he is.

Question (Women MAK): (09:53) In the article it says that a person himself needs to evoke that need for faith. What will help a person to feel that deficiency for faith? And thanks to what does it appear in a person, in the Ten?

M. Laitman: It is given to him from above. It does not depend on anything. He is given this deficiency from above, this demand for faith. But already in this force of this deficiency that he feels within him, he is already advancing.

Student: Can we say that before we receive it, we believe in faith above reason, we believe the Creator can help us?

M. Laitman: He can.

Student: The feeling of desire to receive against bestowal gives a true need for the Creator's salvation. Can we say so?

M. Laitman: We can say that.

Student: Permanent faith, is there a connection between what we are asking for and what we are receiving and understanding and feeling?

M. Laitman: Of course.

Question (English 1): (11:29) Being awarded with permanent faith would represent a lifelong work to attain that ability to walk in this fake hall of mirrors that the ego represents and to know it's all fake and to just have one powerful connection. Does this happen by degrees, and do we feel it a little bit at a time before it actually becomes a full faith for us mortal people trying to grasp this?

M. Laitman: Yes, it does come gradually to each and every person in accordance to how much the person yearns to it, how much of an inclination he has towards it.

Question (Tbilisi): (12:58) I want to thank you for the amazing Congress. At the Congress, we received faith above reason. This is the path of correction within reason. We cannot correct anything only in above reason and you gave us the keys to that. So, we can raise everything to faith above reason and correct it. What else are we lacking? These are such precious keys that you have given us. What else do we lack?

M. Laitman: You are lacking only the connection and ascent. Connection and ascent. Connection and ascent. In such a way you interchange them. One's that, one's the other.

Student: We need to correct it. Is that what you're talking about?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (Women Moscow 8): (14:10) You said beforehand that a person needs to give everyone what he gets from the Creator. Is it enough, just this directive, or is there this condition that a person must get included in the deficiencies of others in order to pass them?

M. Laitman: There is something that I don’t understand here. This disconnection of a person from himself, in order to want to rise above yourself, explain it, please.

Student: You said a person needs to give to everyone what he gets from the Creator. So my question is, is it only enough, this good intention of mine, what comes to me from the Creator, that I’ll be able to pass it to the friends or must there also be that I will include the friends’ deficiencies within me?

M. Laitman: To include your friends in the mutual guarantee is very important. In the Ten, that's the only way you can connect.

Question (Women Turkiye 7): (15:37) In the last paragraph in the article it says, since you cannot tolerate the slander that the body says about Kedusha. I'm struggling to reach this point, so what should I add?

M. Laitman: And what do you usually say? What desire then do you have in your heart?

Student: If foreign thoughts come to my mind, I say to myself, don't look at the foreign thoughts, just continue. But when I do this, that makes me feel as if these foreign thoughts are making me, I cannot tolerate them, and it makes me feel as if I'm running away from them and not trying to change them.

M. Laitman: Eventually, it works within you. It is working within you. You're advancing nicely.

Question (Woman MAK 104): (17:56) How can a person himself awaken the need for the deficiency in faith in order to have this true prayer?

M. Laitman: Ask from the Creator.

Question (Women MAK 98): (18:22) Should we prove to the Creator that we cannot tolerate it anymore, what the body is telling us about Kedusha, so the Creator will help us to receive faith above reason?

M. Laitman: Ask, there's nothing else that you can do.

Question (Women MAK 56): (18:51) When the Creator makes a miracle for a person and gives them permanent faith, then the person no longer has foreign thoughts, or is he simply able to deal with them then?

M. Laitman: They just come to him and that's it. There is no point asking the Creator for something that He doesn't give you. Gradually, gradually, He gives you more and more opportunities to strengthen, to postpone, or to reject the disturbances. But nevertheless, it's our daily work. Later on, we will study or learn how to work correctly with these disturbances, and through them, we can discern more our ascents. Because the disturbances are not just disturbances.

Question (Women Italy): (19:50) Thank you everyone for a big and emotional congress. The question is, our lack creates prayer and works miracles for faith. Why not rejoice for a moment in the relationship with the Superior who only teaches bestowal?

M. Laitman: That's truly well. You can do like that. Be joyous. Why not?

Student: Because we improve relationship with the friend. Is it correct?

M. Laitman: Yes, yes, this is correct.

Question (Women Spain): (21:09) I wanted to thank you for the Congress, especially those taking place in Madrid. Does the Creator answer only the prayer for faith above reason?

M. Laitman: No, but generally in faith above reason, if a person is making an effort to climb the steps of the ladder, then he has a bigger chance that the Creator will hear him.

Question: (Women MAK 19): (22:03) A person can feel the love of the other, of the friends, only when he reaches permanent faith?

M. Laitman: No, not necessarily. Even at the beginning, when a person starts to ascend the first steps, he can already ask for the other and connect with him.

M. Laitman: Let’s read the article again.

Re-Reading Article: (23:00) “Man’s Inclination.”

“Man’s inclination overcomes him every day, and unless the Creator helps him, he cannot overcome it.” We should ask about this: It is known that everything is in the hands of heaven but the fear of heaven, so why did they say, “unless,” etc.?

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (27:59) In the last paragraph, he wants to sanctify the Creator's name in him so he wouldn't have foreign thoughts. Is this a condition?

M. Laitman: A condition, no. A person does not put a condition, he can request.

Student: I meant, is this a condition for him to receive the miracle?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: What does it mean that he wants for the name of heaven to be sanctified?

M. Laitman: The feeling of closeness to the Creator will fill the person, in all of his organs, that so much so, he feels that he is next to the Creator, that it is interrupting him to move. This is how much he is filled with the Creator. And after that, it changes into faith above reason.

Question (Women Polish): (24:93) If a person is awarded with faith above reason, then he already doesn't need any doubts, just shutting his eyes and he rejects all the doubts from himself?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (Women Heb 2): (30:04) How should a person be careful not to enjoy the light?

M. Laitman: Not to enjoy it, not to receive it as a light that brings him pleasure, but rather to receive it as a light that helps him to advance on the path to the Creator.

Student: When all the foreign thoughts come, it sometimes comes when I'm doing the most intentions, or I'm in a lesson, or in a connection, and then it's not clear. Do I put them to the side, do I dedicate time to them, do I run away from them? Because it comes in such a shape and form that I cannot ignore it.

M. Laitman: Try this way and try that way and see.

Question (Women Baden-W): (31:26) How to clear a space in my heart to receive the force of faith.

M. Laitman: I would say this. There, where there was previously a place for the feeling of the Creator, there, out of that place, you want to make a place for faith, let's say, something like that.

Student: A place to feel the Creator, how is it felt?

M. Laitman: It's there where you relate to the Ten, to our entire Kli, and you want in that place to feel the Creator. Instead of that, to feel the Creator.

Question (Women Moscow 6): (32:35) For what miracle can we ask the Creator?

M. Laitman: Miracle? To receive the light, the force of the light, above reason.

Student: The receiving of the faith, it happens after our work, after we've connected, and the Creator gives the force of bestowal?

M. Laitman: No, it happens on the spot, together with that.

Question (Women Rus 10): (33:24) Can we say that by seeing the greatness of the friends, we cling through it to a higher degree or the effort to it will receive strength?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: In the greatness of the friends is where the force of the Creator is hidden?

M. Laitman: Also correct.

Question (French): (34:06) If at every moment I scrutinize about myself and I'm thinking about the connection with the friends, and I think about faith above reason when exactly is the prayer or do I need to do a certain action beyond the thought?

M. Laitman: Prayer bursts out from inside.

Question (Hadera 1): (34:52) Continuing what others have asked, I speak about the third paragraph from the end. However, one must be careful not to enjoy the light. As I just said, one does not enjoy the work of miracles.  One does not enjoy the work of miracles. Is that a total thing or is it relates to only miracles in the corporeal level? Because there could be a miracle that the Creator answers the prayers of a person and gives him a new nature, a nature of bestowal. From this miracle, can we enjoy?

M. Laitman: No. Everything should be inverted to the force of ascent.

Question (Hadera 1): (35:58) If I understand correctly, the miracle should only be about the necessity, meaning the person must accept it. Otherwise, there is no point.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: Otherwise, truly, we don't receive?

M. Laitman: Only that way.

Question (Women Eng 1): (36:26) When one begins to walk in faith above reason, is that the first stage of spirituality?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (Women MAK 97): (36:55) How not to enjoy bestowal and not to receive this pleasure?

M. Laitman: Pleasure from bestowal? You shouldn't hold it within yourself. You work with it at the same time of your desires, and you see how your desires receive that energy. For that, they exist.

Question (Kyiv): (37:48) You said that the person is filled with the Creator so much so that he cannot move. What is this stage? How do you reach it?

M. Laitman: This happens sometimes when the Creator fills up some of your demands and then you don't have the strength to move. Meaning that you do some kind of actions with the light that would help you to advance.

Question (Women PT 33): (38:35) I feel that each one of us has a process until the quota will be filled that we have to go through and then we come to the complete prayer and then to this request and deficiency. I understand that all our systems and everything is building in us the ability. But it's clear to me that the Creator cannot add if I'm not willing to receive anymore. My question is: What hastens or how can we hasten the process so that I'll be willing to receive more and more from the Creator much quicker? And that we will all be able to reach the desired state.

M. Laitman: I didn't exactly understand what you wanted to say.

Student: I need to come to a state that I'm asking from the Creator the most correct thing and He gives it, and then I receive it and I'm ready for the next stage. Before I was ready for that stage He would not give. So, I'm asking how to hasten this process between us in the Ten, in the group. That each one of us will go through all this process as soon as possible.

M. Laitman: It all depends to what extent you're ready. That you have a Ten and that each one is helping the other and together we feel the common desire to receive as one desire. With that, you turn to the Creator and for sure the Creator answers you. And that's it. And then you receive an answer.

Student: I'm constantly looking for ways to hasten this process and it means that?

M. Laitman: To hasten it only together.

Question (Women Ukraine 2): (41:36) Do I understand correctly that not to enjoy the light means to move away from it? What is it to move away?

M. Laitman: No. Not to enjoy the light doesn't mean that it's advancement forward.

Student: Meaning in order not to enjoy the light we need to move onwards?

M. Laitman: Let's say.

Student: What does it mean to move onwards?

M. Laitman: To move onwards is to the next degree, to reveal the Creator, more and more of His light, and to prepare more for that. It means to connect with others so that a more mutual vessel be formed in order to receive all of it within you like we say all the time. That's it.

Student: The person when he feels the light cannot move as you said just now. So, what does the person need to do at that point?

M. Laitman: When a person receives the light it doesn't mean that he cannot move. You didn't understand me correctly. When a person receives the light, then it becomes clear to him that he received this upliftment, this ascent from the Creator. Then he needs to clarify how he will now realize it. The realization of the light needs to be very precise, that a person receives in order to bestow.

The light fills him up and the person, thanks to that light, rises higher and includes in himself new vessels—different desires which still haven't participated in him to receive for the sake of the Creator in order to bestow. In this way these degrees appear in him, these new ones of ascent.

Student: How does he light up these new vessels?

M. Laitman: He simply includes them within himself. There is no sophisticated action here.

Question (Women French): (44:30) You partly answered but I wanted to ask. You answered what you need, and the question is what do we need to do in order to turn everything that we received in the convention to reflected light? What do we need to do?

M. Laitman:  For you to want to give to each other what you received at the congress and everything that you will receive in the upcoming lessons.

Student: What do we need to do in order to give it, to bestow it?

M. Laitman: For that you need to be connected between yourselves, to speak between yourselves, to read the materials together and then it will all work out.

Question (Women Turkiye 8): (45:48) What should we do so that the Creator will reward us with the permanent faith?

M. Laitman: All the time to ask of him. Ask for the light of faith from Him.

Question (MAK 39): (46:37) At the end of the article it’s written that he is rewarded with faith permanently. What does it mean? In spirituality, there are constant changes, each one receives this faith permanently by himself or it's a Ten?

M. Laitman: Where did you find that?

Student:  The last words in the article. Faith above reason and he is rewarded with permanent faith. How can it be? Because we are constantly changing in spirituality.

M. Laitman: No, it means here that you attain permanent faith. There is such a concept of permanent faith.

Student: Meaning it stays forever, you don't lose it.

M. Laitman: Forever, yes.

Question (Women Latin 13): (47:39) I understand that two friends cannot feel the other two, but when there are more friends in the Ten, they can feel each other. How to relate to this pleasure in the Ten, they feel it?

M. Laitman: That it belongs to everyone.

Question (Women MAK 19): (48:18) When you see the miracle from the Creator and the answer from the prayer and you are concerned with Him, what to do with it? To connect it to the friends or to reject Him in order not to enjoy?

M. Laitman: Direct it to the friends. It's clear.

Question (Women Kavkaz 1): (49:00) Where to take this force from, because you cannot resist this pleasure. When the light comes and completely fills you, how can you not enjoy it?

M. Laitman: Depict to yourself that the light that you are receiving you need to direct it to the Creator.

Student: Back to Him, right?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: Back to Him, but still there is joy, there is pleasure, it doesn't leave you.

M. Laitman: You don't need to get rid of that.

Student: Meaning to use it, yes? And to say that if He gave it to me, then I'll return it to Him.

M. Laitman: Well, let's say so.

Student: Can we say that the choice of reason, the shame helps it, and to choose above reason, it's the truth that helps it?

M. Laitman: We'll clarify these things. We'll talk about them. I don't think it's so simple.

Question (Women Spain): (50:28) Why do we always ask for answers from the Creator? Is it a lack of faith, or what sort of faith is it?

M. Laitman: We're asking for answers from the Creator because we want to be confident. We want to be sure that if the answer comes from Him, then it's the most correct one. In the process that it comes to us, and we receive it, then in that process, we also correct our vessels.

Question (Women MAK 45) (51:12) In the article it's said that faith, the quality of bestowal, we receive as a result of a miracle from the Creator, and the Kabbalists teach us that the concealment is in order for the created beings not to have shame. Then the question is: Is it canceling the shame?

M. Laitman: Do you want to get rid of the trepidation?

Student: I want to reach the fear.

M. Laitman: It depends only on you.

Question (Women MAK 25): (52:09) We on the path are doing a lot of efforts—different states, things happen, different connections. So, why faith above reason and what we are given is called a miracle?

M. Laitman: Because it is a miracle. It's above the laws of nature.

Question (Women German): (52:45) It seems to me that I've been waiting for this article and this moment for dozens of years. I feel a miracle, I feel the feeling of gratitude, but at the same time, I feel the feeling of the taste of hell. How do I connect these two states in order to reach bestowal?

M. Laitman: Try, try. I don't know what else to say.

Question (Women Spain): (53:29) I wanted to understand, whether I understand correctly, the mind should connect with the body in order to reach a complete prayer. So, how the mind, which is the reason, should come closer to the body in order to reach this goal? To whom am I surrendering, to the body or to the Creator?

M. Laitman: In front of the Creator, each and every organ is subjugated towards the Creator.

Question (Women Almaty): (54:08) Tell us, please, how to understand that you had pleasure, but you fell. There are signs that I cannot understand what state I'm in.

M. Laitman: How is it that you cannot understand? What does it mean?

Student: Praying for his friends is answered first. I'm asking and I'm asking, and inside I feel that I want to bestow to the friends, but I have no feeling that I receive this light of faith. There are these small feelings, but I cannot scrutinize it.

M. Laitman: You cannot enter into their states. You're an egoist. You need to be helped.

Question (Women Moscow 6): (55:10) You gave us a direction to pass on this desire that we felt it as one yearning, and now we can continue it from the whole world, Kli, or again to focus in the Ten? Either one?

M. Laitman: Focus on the Ten, the Ten. A person always needs to get incorporated in the Ten, and from the Ten to continue his development further.

Question (Women Ukraine 2): (56:00) Why does faith above reason is the only vessel to reveal the Creator?

M. Laitman: Because it’s faith above reason. It no longer relates to our corporeal level.

Question (Women MAK 97): (56:23) Can a person fall from the degree of faith above reason, or he has to fall from it, and he has to annul himself, annul the pleasure, to step backwards in order to move on forward?

M. Laitman: No, it's not a must, but he can.

Question (Women MAK 19): (56:56) Permanent faith is only in the connection between us during the lesson when you are present?

M. Laitman: Yes, but in general, permanent faith is a special state. We'll clarify it later.

Student: How to invite the Rav to each and every Ten?

M. Laitman: Well, I just heard your invitation.

Question (Women Turkiye 7): I say to myself: You will not be able to come to prayer unless the body will allow you to do so, and my body knows that I am obligated to it. My question is: Is there another way in which we can reach the conditions of the prayer to somehow overcome the body?

M. Laitman: We cannot circumvent the body. The body is the general desire. We cannot circumvent it. We can only make an agreement with it, with the body, a gentleman-like agreement that now I am doing what I need to, and in another two hours, I will do what you need. Do you understand?

Student: If we were to go above reason, and if we can understand that everything that the Creator is doing the right thing. When we’re above reason, how can we come to the form of prayer?

M. Laitman: We will reach it. The Creator does not leave us. He gives us a lot of problems and opportunities. What is your profession?

Student: I don't know how to say this in English, but there are two people, they are arguing, and I am in the middle, and I am...

M. Laitman: Like a lawyer?

Student: Almost. I am making peace. When they argue, I am making peace.

M. Laitman: There is a lot of need for such work in the world.

M. Laitman: Well, that's it. I need to clear this line. Lately, there are a lot that want to enter. So, until tomorrow, be well.
