The fact that we live in an interconnected world is no secret to anyone. This fact doesn’t raise any objections. But the idea that we are also dependent on one another is much harder for a person to accept. Who would want to depend on other people, on the fact that someone on the other side of the world can cause harm to them and to everyone else? Who would want others to depend on them, so that demands might be made of them because of it? These are not simple questions; they require deep clarification. How does our dependence manifest? Is it involuntary, or do we influence one another deliberately? In any case, we’ve reached a stage in our development where these facts can no longer be denied or ignored.
