Today, we hear that many people want to return to their former way of life—to leave quarantine, restart the “production machine,” and go back to work. But have we truly learned the lesson the coronavirus has given us? What have we actually taken away from it? The state we were in before the epidemic was inevitably pushing us toward world war and environmental catastrophes. Is that really the future we want? The meaningless race for profit, endless flights from country to country, children growing up without guidance—this is what we had up until today. A miserable, confused humanity, doing its best to ignore life’s most important values and trying to grasp even the smallest, fleeting pleasure in the form of money, possessions, and travel. The same old “bread and circuses”—nothing has changed since ancient times. We must understand that the life we had before is not something we should return to. Let’s try to change, so that life in our shared home can be comfortable for everyone.
