Baal HaSulam. "Study of the Ten Sefirot" (TES). Vol. 1. Part 2. Chapter 2. Inner light #50 (" Because that is the impression of the light ..")

Study of the Ten Sefirot part 2 inner light item 50

1. R. Yes, we are studying spiritual laws where according to them the spiritual vessels operate meaning that they already have the strength and the force to restrict their egoistic desire and build a Masach (screen) above them meaning the force of bestowal with respect to whoever is outside the will to receive. Whoever is outside the will to receive is the whole world which we feel. First of all is that group the same group that each and every one can try to bestow towards and after that also to the Creator so all in all in TES we learn how the spiritual vessels behave when they can already restrict the will to receive it is not that the will to receive disappears it is rather restricted and we stand above it and besides that even the will to receive can be transformed in order to bestow meaning as much as it wants to itself it is willing to give to bestow to serve the others. This is what we learn. The laws of bestowal, as it is said, I have seen a reversed world. Let's see what Baal HaSulam writes about this.

Item 50 Inner Light (02:17 - 04:58)

2. R. Circles are circles. There's no up and down there, everything is in equal form and it is measured only towards the center of the circle now the difference between the circles is that one is inside the other. The more external the circle is, the more inclusive it is. The more internal it is the more it is under the influence of a superior and upper circle. Now the difference between the circles is not control, as it is in the line. The difference between them is cause and consequence. The difference is very big, it's not that one is stronger than the other but that one precedes the other. We are going to run into this more and see this. That is a difference and this actually helps the Creator to be inside of creation as well as outside of it and we too need to build such a relationship to relate to each other in both circle and line. Ultimately in the final correction of circle and line everything unites into one form, we will be talking about that. In the meantime, about what we just read we have to say this. In the circles there is no up and down. what's higher in the circle it becomes is also down words and in the line, what is up and down is different and the circles that are more outer a greater and inside of them there are more inner circles. In the line the straightness the higher one is more praiseworthy and the lower is opposite that's the difference. In truth, in circles all the spiritual laws exist before the person begin creating lines of straightness and with them, we fulfill the circles. Let's put it like this, as we learn from the four phases of the direct light that we have root 1 2 3 4, Behina Dalet undergoes a Tzimtzum restriction. We thus discover that our whole work is in

straightness but we ultimately correct and fulfil the vessels of circles and so the whole goal and the purpose of creation is to discover the vessels of circles, turn them into straightness and fulfill them by the vessels of straightness. Until our fulfilment would be as that of the circles. That is basically how we work and the purpose of our work is to fill up all the circles through the straightness in a way that there will be no difference between line and circles, straightness and circles. This is called completing our work that we hope to achieve in the future.

3. S. (09:42) Can you explain what it is that the light gets the qualities of the vessel?

R. There is no problem in the light that comes from Ein Sof. The problem is always with the vessels. and they discover the light according to a certain amount, a certain level and limitation of the Kli vessel so we can't say anything about the light but rather about how the Kli (vessel) detects the light and reveals the light. Also when we talk about the lights we are actually talking from the perspective of the vessels meaning with what Aviut (thickness or coarseness) of the Kli, with what Masach (screen) of the Kli can we make such actions that these actions will be similar to the light. This is called the darkness shines as light and so the light itself you can't say anything about. The more the Kli reveals the light that’s how we discuss the Kli and the light. It's all from the perspective of the vessels. That's it, the Creator from the side of the light we are from the side of the vessels and that's our work.

4. S. (11:31) Something isn't clear, that is saying that the Sefira of the circle of Hochma is lower than Keter? is not equal what does he mean?

R. He means that the Sefira of Keter of circles is the most outer and in it is the Sefira of Hochma (wisdom) of circles which is more inner but all of these circles become round around the same common center.

S. So, are they also reach equivalence of form?

R. I don't know what you take these details from. The circles have a common center, they become round, around this common center. The first circle is the most outer, inside that is another and inside that there is a third one and so on

S. He said when the light comes from Hochma to Bina there is some kind of equivalence of form.

R. When the lights from one circle to the next they come through straightness.

S. Only straightness.

R. Yes, of course. So, the next circle comes lower, if we can say such a thing about a circle, then the previous one, that's all.

5. S. (13:13) The light that strikes the vessel and gives this coarseness where does the vessel get the impression from the purity?

R. The Kli receives an impression from the coarseness Aviut and purity Zackut, only from the light that operates on it when the light comes to the Kli vessel on the way that it clothes in the previous vessels and then it understands through that Kli all the data with which it expands that Kli and then the Kli responds to the light by necessity.

6. S. (14:10) You said that our work is to discover the circles but work with straightness. How can we do this?

R. No, we can't turn the circles into straightness. We just want our work which is in straightness to ultimately become similar to the circles which means to make all our actions by way of straightness meaning with levels of About (coarseness), Masach (screen) Ohr Hozer (reflect light), on our part but with that bestowal achieve the form of circles which means without any boundary, without any limitations so wherever I am, as much as I am in adhesion with my vessel, I awaken myself, of course I'm limited like a baby who is limited.

S. What does it mean?

R. Because after the first restriction the vessels of circles can no longer make any actions. They are all operated by the line and the line fulfils these circles and passes through the circles. We are going to learn about how it goes through the roof of the circles, through the circle, through all the individual Sefirot of the circle and then comes out of the circle through the Malchut and then passes onto others. Each and every Sefira of circles includes its individual Sefira of circles but the connection of all the Sefira of circles is the line.

S. So this straightness is clear about our work so what does it mean about the circles? Is its spirituality qualities in a different structure? How do you describe it?

R. Vessels of circles are vessels of the upper providence of the Creator. The vessel of straightness is also the upper providence of the Creator of the created beings but there we can already participate in the vessels of straightness. However, the conclusion of our work is that we will discover it has the work without any boundaries which is circles which is ultimately all these individual limited vessels come together and connect to a result of a circle.

Item 60 Inner Light relating to the words: “Arich Anpin after the correction…” (18:00)

7. R. This is already in the study of the world of Atzilut, that is where these Sefirot take on these new names which is what did means

Item 70 " Inner light relates to the words: “line and window….” (19:17)

8. R. (21:51) Any questions not relating to any of the subjects studied. Are there more questions related to something that is troubling you?

9. S. (22:26) We received advice from you to do a journal in the 10 and yesterday many 10s around the world. If not, everyone clarified what the criteria by which we should measure we should check ourselves daily in this journal. We tried to clarify this and it wasn't so simple to come to a clear agreement about this criterion. Maybe you can help us with that?

R. I'm happy to hear that you bumped into some problem. It's actually a difficult problem. How can you exactly measure your form of advancement, the state of advancement, where we measure ourselves, how we weigh it. So how to do it? I don't know. I do not know. This is what you need to keep on scrutinizing. What is important for us? How do we measure these things if they are important or not? It's a problem, try. Try to be more alert to these states. How do we check it and how do we weigh it, how do we measure it compared to the previous state, how can we measure states? They are all in different vessels, what is mutual to all of the vessels that we can say this is compared to that? That's a problem.

S. Two challenges that came up here is to really check how we can check when we are talking about inner states or closeness between us, connection with the Creator and a prayer to the Creator, high spirits. How can we measure these things at all?

R. That's the question. I'm not giving you an answer. The questions themselves are very good. They awaken us, they acknowledge our states more, where we are, what we do we need to do ? It's great. All the questions that you ask now will later on be clarified through the degrees. The most difficult degree now. It's like an embryo in his mother's womb when in him it gathers and connects and stabilizes all the connections then you just get more of their forces and they become practical. The main work is now. Don't think that if we cannot go out of the egoistic state from corporeality to spirituality, so what else do we need to do afterwards in the spiritual degrees. No, that's not the problem. The problem is now that we need to locate all the details that are in us as much as we can locate them and then they will already work out.

S. Another question that came up is that it is a group journal. How can we determine a group thing if each one of us is determining his personal state and brings it into the group calculation?

R. It's good to speak about the state of the group and bring it to the group to see as much as we can come close to one another to see our states in a more no formulated connected manner. It's all worthwhile, it's worth doing it. It is a measurement in general that is very good.

S. (27:13) Another question I heard from other 10s is how will we feel the changes on a daily basis, we won't have that much to see, maybe just once a week? How frequently should it be?

R. Even if you talk about it for a few minutes every day it gives you the correct discernment because even if you don't have a discernment, that is also discernment.

S. It won't weaken us.

R. No, why would something weaken me, when all in all, I am in a state that I have nowhere to go to on one hand, and there is no more exalted state that I am engaging in on the other hand, between these two states I determine where I am.

10. S (28:04). A question that bothers me a lot with regards to the intention. We read an article from Rabash in our 10 that says that our work is really the work of intention, which is the work of men. call the work of men and this topic bothers me a lot in the sense that we want to add more quality to our work, more inner the work and I don't know how we realize this advice from Rabash that the work of man is the intention.

R. When we all want to check our intentions, what I want of myself, how am I advancing to a state that all my intentions will be how to connect and adhere to the Creator through the group and how I implement it practically. We have nothing else to do.

11. S. (29:32) In our 10 we go through many states and we've been documenting them as we go but you said that we have to check the mutuality of all the vessels so when we talk about the mutuality of the vessels what do you exactly mean?

R. I don't know what you mean by mutuality and how you translate that word or what it means. What is mutual? That's me for my beloved and my beloved for me that my friend is for me and I am for my friend? I don't know what it means. I didn't understand your question.

S. You said that we have to scrutinize the most important degrees now. We want to ask based on what we are measuring now with regard to the friends in the 10.

R. We measure our degree according to the extent that we can connect upon the separation that the Creator is bringing between us according to that we measure the degree. Each degree has a beginning and an end. A beginning state and a final state and that's how we measure a degree. The degree is a gap between the states and that's how we measure it. I don't understand exactly what we’re talking about

12. S. (31:32) We are in the 10 we make the seasons in scrutinies we understand correctly that if the friend doesn't come to the lesson every day you can't participate in scrutinies and decisions?

R. On what basis he can participatively if he's not with us every day and he is lacking these discernments. On what basis will he participate? What kind of feeling does he have? What mind does he have on what we are discussing every morning? Now we are having a gathering and he stands up and starts speaking. On what basis is he talking? What can I say if he hasn't been you? What kind of scrutiny can he make? Only friends that are with us can participate' because they have something to say but if he slept in and he wasn't in the lesson what can we hear from him?

13. S. (32:57) Are they quantitative measurements for the friend’s participation in the 10?

R. We cannot speak about the quality of connection between people but still I recommend not to confuse this. In what we can check the friends is as much as they participate, not that or character that's an internal thing. We cannot see each and every one with his vessels and the way connects in the way checks but the external states we can see, for us his presence is important. just to be present. His attendance and what happens afterwards a person has to bring himself to his state where he devotes himself to the work of the Creator and the group and to the Creator. If he, does it work, if he can't then it doesn't work. That's how we check. That's why if he comes and he's with me and in the morning lesson, that's my friend. I also want to sit with him at meals and I want to talk to him about all kinds of states that we go through but that's another condition that in such a way we are connected. A friend comes from the word connection. If I'm in the lesson and he's in his bed then that's not a connection. That's why I don't want to hear about friends like that with all the excuses. It's not important, with the Rabash they were such people that came to the lesson and slept the whole lesson and the Rabash said leave them. A person can't. He was tired, something let it be but they came there in the room sitting with us and were asleep and there were such friends that couldn’t they couldn’t study or think they don't have the head for it but they want to be part of us.

14 S. (36:09) If there are eight righteous in the city will the city survive?

R. Why are you asking about this?

S. I am the only one who reads the Bible in my group, if there are 10 or less, the question is how we can reach, if there is less than 10.

R. I was in a group with Rabash that had six people in his group and he said, continue it's not a matter of the number of 10 bodies, it's a matter of inner division. It is even written that the multitude of the many are two, and even two can be a group. It might not be so clear for you because you study the Torah but we did study the Torah and keep on going with what we have.

15. R. I'm very happy that we are advancing. Today's topic was very important. Leave some for tomorrow when you can also repeat them, all that we went through. bring all the questions that you have today that weren't answered and we might have a lesson of questions and answers according to this topic. The topic is very important. Advancing by overcoming only by overcoming.
