Baal HaSulam. "Study of the Ten Sefirot" (TES). Vol. 1. Part 2. Chapter One. #1

1.Rav’s Introduction: Yes, we finished Part One and of course there's no limit to how much more we can learn from there, but as it says from the beginning to the end. First you read from the beginning to the end and then you go back to these parts with greater precision, greater connection when we already have a general perspective over the entire process of the cascading of the lights and the vessels. To the extent that we are able to adapt ourselves to the vessels by awakening upon us the lights, the upper light. This is how we tune ourselves to the reception, the understanding, the adhesion with the materials. So that we, from our will to receive, build the right form in the substance. So, that this form will be precisely according to the Sefirot, according to the pipelines of the abundance that will come down to us. Let's start Part Two of the Ten Sefirot, Circles and Straightness, containing two chapters.

Chapter One (02:03)

2. R. (02:20 Already, we see there are two things here, two issues, the line and the circles and through the line the light comes to the circles and becomes circles through them.

Reader continues: number 1.2.3. (02:31)

3. R. (04:02) Okay, we heard it, we can remember it, we can understand it for the time being but this is actually the content of this part, what he wants to explain to us for now, so let's go deeper in. The line is like a thin pipeline.

Reader: The line is like a thin pipeline Item 1 (04:25)

Inner light Item 1, 2, (05:19)

4. R. (09:33) So, here you are, he gives us precise definitions, lines, circle, screen, pipeline, and we somehow need to try to understand them, somehow, so it will be clear to us what is the difference between all of these. The difference is that they are all the desire but a different desire either is defined as Ein Sof when there is actually no limit for it, or is it a circle, or is a pipeline, or as a line. There are differences between all of these forms, that the Creator created a desire but later on the desire, through the mutual influence between it and the light, it takes on all kinds of different forms because the light influences it and brings it its own qualities. As much as the will to receive which is simple to begin with, gets this influence from the light, accordingly it becomes, or it takes upon itself all kinds of different forms, that reach it out of the participation of the will to receive and the will to bestow. The will to bestow that comes as light from the Creator and the will to receive which is the opposite that awakens out of the created beings will to receive.

5. S. (11:18) Why do we feel the light only through this restriction, screen and reflected light?

R. There is a law in spirituality, that following the restriction it is possible to attain light only according to the equivalence of form, equivalence of form, that's it. This was formed after the restriction and even before the restriction this did not apply but rather the upper to light was influencing the desire, doing with it everything according to its control, full control over the desire. Then after the restriction, when the upper light also invited this restriction inside of the desire, it turns out that they allowed the desire to rule over itself, whether it wants to receive or it doesn't want to receive, and later on under which conditions it wants to receive and so on. That is how the desire can return from itself, from below upward, how it can connect with the light, and according to that to establish itself. Meaning, the Creator by giving the possibility for me to restrict myself, gives me the possibility to establish my independence so that now I don't want to be only under His control, but rather according to how much my desire can be in congruence with His desire. Then we become two authorities.

6. S. (13:38) So it turns out that in some mutual desire we discern this pipeline?

R. The created being that receives an influence from the upper light, from the Creator, he begins to change. In those changes they build it anew, he begins to be instead of just a desire, a pipeline that limits the Creator's relation to it, according to how much it is capable of and how much it is not, how much it wants, according to the equivalence of form, according how much it wants to bestow in return and so on. That is in the created being, all kinds of forces become clear with which it can relate back to the giver, to the Creator.

S. Creation always includes a desire?

R. A desire, what was created is the desire, in this desire has all kinds of forms mostly Igulim, circles and Yosher, straightness. Circles mean that this desire does not yet limit itself, it has no control over itself, it does not yet have deficiencies, the forces. And Yosher, straightenness means that it already feels how much it is the opposite to the light, inferior to the upper light, which is always in circles towards it, meaning without any limit. Then the desire of the created being starts to take on all kinds of different forms in order to determine its relation to the upper one, to the Creator.

Either he agrees to remain under His control and then it is just like the circles, or it wants to restrict itself, to take upon itself opposite forms to the Creator's attitude towards it. The Creator is always bestowing through the circles. The created being wants to resemble the Creator to some extent so in order to reach this resemblance to the Creator it goes through different forms, where it wants to restrict itself to take upon itself opposite forms to the Creator's attitude towards it. These forms, we call them by the name circle or triangle, a square, a line, and so on.

7. S. (16:25) When we talk about the behavior of the light in different stages I start to get confused because of the relation, I ascribe it to the behavior of light in this world. How can I feel the difference between the expansion, and the observation that the light in every stage, departure of light in every stage?

R. That we will study is still premature to talk about it and all the more so when you say how can you feel it? Feel, well we will reach that, this is according to how much you try to be like the light. Meaning a bestower, blocking your egoistic will to receive and wanting to behave with everyone like the light. In an altruistic manner, bestowal, equal to everyone and so on. This we will learn bit by bit and it is not worthwhile to start immediately now to behave that way. We need to see.

8. S. (17:59) We have a great deficiency in Brazil, also we are working together, we have friends that want to elevate the importance of the society, and we have friends that want to come and really be together. It's not very simple as I'm speaking right now, the feelings are very up and down and I'm so happy that we are talking about this right now because we are together and I really thank you for these lessons. I'm thankful for you, thank you

R. Thank you, thank you too and let's hope that we will come closer to each other and the vessel, even though it is a very small desire in each one of us but when we will connect them together, all of these desires, it will truly be a great force and we will then be able to connect more strongly between us and build a vessel that is suitable for the revelation of the light for the reception of the light.

9. S. (19:33) I wanted to ask about item to it says the vessels of 10 Sefirot, of straightness are called pipeline, then it writes for that same reason that they are called that the light pass through the same pipeline 10 Sefirot of straightenness because they are joined according to the same rules of pipelines, straightness and justly, what's the difference meaning of straightness and just?

R. As much as they are in mutual bestowal towards the pipeline, and also the desire towards the Creator, according to that, the influence of the Creator is felt in the pipeline, in the vessel. When the limits itself, then it performs a restriction upon itself and there is a screen, reflected light, and it doesn't allow the upper light to expand more than it is capable of bestowing to the upper light, so that there will be reciprocity between them.

10. S. (20:49) When we talked about a Kli without a screen we did nominate it a circle, called a circle, so after the restriction on a vessel without a screen it is not a vessel really?

R. The screen is not yet a vessel, immediately after the restriction, the screen, the Masach that is arranged according to the light, it comes to it according to the light then it becomes a vessel.

S. So, why does he call this desire without a screen a vessel?

R. This is what he determines for the time being for the time being there are no true vessels. Soon we will reach that.

11. S. (21:45) What's the difference between pipeline, and straightness, is there a difference?

R. I'd say there is no difference for now, the pipeline and also the line, it is the will to receive that limits the reception of the light making a restriction over it and wishing to receive only according to the equivalence of form. As much as the Creator wants to bestow to it, so it on its part, in return wants to bestow to the Creator. Accordingly, it limits itself in the reception of the light. As much as it is capable of bestowing back to the Creator this is why it is called a line. It means that it is already a restricted reception in the created beings, it is called a line.

12. S. (22:43) Does the strength of the restriction define a relationship between the strength of the screen and where we are on the line?

R. We and our will to receive and the restriction over it and resemble it with reflected light as much as we want to identify with that light, that we receive inside of the line, accordingly we determine the line. It's intensity or its thickness you could say as much as will pass through the line to us and how will we receive it and how will we bestow in return. The line is now a vessel in which the Creator's influence or bestowal from the Creator, and bestowl from the created being meet together.

13. S. (23:47) What determines our ability during the study not to corporealize all these terms, rather to feel them?

R. This is a very important issue for us not to materialize it, you are right about that. Let's first we don't even talk about it because it's not within man's powers whether to materialize it or not materialize it, to imagine to himself the line, the pipeline, the circle etc. Meaning, there is an issue here that gradually a person should try to take these definitions, emotionally and not pictorially if it's a line then it is limited. You to me and me to you. We have between us relations in the line. If it's a circle then each one can give to the other one everything that he can and the other one can receive it according to how much he can.

Nevertheless, there are limitations, the circle is also limited, but this is about the manner of the bestowal and reception that it comes from the general desire of one towards the other. Now we have many other such forms but all of them we have to try to shift these forms to emotional form as much as possible and not pictorially. It's not geometry like we learn about the triangle or square or pipeline. But rather, in this form we can convey to each other in a concise manner the manner of the connection between what the Creator gives and what the created being receives. Nevertheless, we cannot give the Creator anything but only after the restriction that we take upon ourselves and then we activate our will to receive only in order to resemble the Creator according to how much we can resemble the Creator, so we activate ourselves.

A pipeline is when we get from the Creator a little bit, maybe just drop after drop, there's already a flow, up to a state where it will be unlimited at the end of correction where we will open up our vessel entirely, all of it with the intention to bestow. But still our intention to bestow is restricted or maybe it is zero. Accordingly, we don't open ourselves up, we are under restriction and so on. That is we need to shift these relations when they talk about the pipeline or thin pipeline or the wider pipeline, a greater one receiving in drops or receiving with a flow unimitated reception. All of these things we need to shift them to a form of a relation between us in the Creator and how much by that we can depict these states in the right way. That's it, we'll take it slowly we didn't even go through one page yet of that second part.

S. I'm asking because there's a sensation in TES that we were learning now, there is a bit more ability really to distance ourselves from corporalizing and materializing the matters?

R. Of course we'll talk about it all the time.

S. I'm asking what or how we can be even more spiritual, less corporeal, how can we take more more steps towards that?

R. It's a good question. First of all, we need to try to think about it together and realize the equivalence towards the upper light can be only when we are connected and on our side we organize our influence, the group influence, on the light and then we become a vessel. One cannot be a vessel should be at least two as we say the minimum of many is two, that each one annuls himself to the other and we want to be connected meaning two as one and by that they already to some extent, are similar to the upper light. Accordingly can expand within them. Therefore we should try as much as possible to feel, to feel, not to understand, but to feel that we are in that we are building our vessel, our common vessel. That as much as we will connect our desires, our intentions, our thoughts and our hearts together, in that each one should annul himself before the others, so by that we will reach a state where we will feel what a pipeline truly is.

What is a line, what are the forms of reception the whole wisdom that we are studying is the wisdom of reception, how to receive with the Creator wants to give us, he wants to pour down to us infinitely, unlimited but we accordingly we have to open ourselves up a little bit with the equivalence of form in order to receive from him and not to be a blockage. On the way that he wants to give us. This is possible only according to how much we connect and each one annuls before the others. Then that way a place opens up between us, a common place where the Creator or his light is revealed.

S. It turns out what we feel more than we understand, that we don't understand the basic terms like vessels, screen, then my question is are we going to advance and learn more and more things. So how can we begin to feel these additional upper things when these even basic things you grasp that you're entirely not there, you see it?

R. The basic things are the most difficult because this is about light and desire and the relation between them. Later on the entire wisdom of Kabbalah explains to you, it expands for you these things, it elaborates them and speaks about different manners of relation between light and desire.

There is no more, light is what comes from the Creator, desire is what awakens on the side of the created beings and we speak about how even though they're opposite to each other how does the creative being reach equivalence with the Creator? The will to receive which is opposite of the light, how does it make out of itself such form, such quality, such conditions where it will resemble the light and to the extent that it resembles the light the light enters and fills it. Therefore we are studying the wisdom of reception, Kabbalah, how to receive the upper light, the entire attitude of the Creator towards us which is infinite, unlimited in the end. This is the work, this is our study and we need to try not to study it intellectually but rather emotionally. This is about the desire and the extent to which we adapt our desire to the Creator's desire as it says make your will is his will. That's it.

14. S. (32:43) meaning it turns out that until we have the force of Bina, it's pointless to approach the correction?

R. I wouldn't put the word Bina in here, we didn't talk about it, we didn't read about it, don't be a smart alec, let's talk at the level that we are reading and understanding.

15. R. (33:20) You scrutinize for us now the second part here and you said that the light how can it actually turn to an independent desire as we understand that freedom, independence, freedom of choice, right?

R. Yes, certainly one depends on the other.

16. S. (33:58) So do we arrive at …. by our common desire?

R. That is correct. As much as we can act and each one restricts himself in order to be connected with the others, then out of all of these desires of ours that actually are restricted with respect to oneself and each and every one, and he is now willing to connect with the others, to open up his heart to the friend, and to a level with that to close his heart to self reception and open his heart to be selling to others. According to that we all connect and in that we build a pipeline.

17. S. (35:03) I wanted to ask about the term called authority, you said the vessel once he restricts himself he becomes an authority and the Creator and created being are two authorities, so the question is the created being is 100% dependent on the Creator the desire receive from the Creator he restricts himself from the desire he receives, why is that called an authority and not dependency, where's the authority here?

R. As much as the created being knows how to get forces from the Creator and through these forces to implement and carry out the restriction, the screen and reflected light, to that extent the created being controls the Creator. He becomes the one who is in control. The Creator agrees with it. He is happy about it and He does everything that the created being demands of Him. It is like the parent with the little child, let's say, that if the child asks for good things it is a great joy for the parent and they do everything that the child is demanding and it is considered that in the goodwill of the lower one in the goodwill of the upper one, that they both connect.

18. S. (36:35) There's an emotional description of Baal HaSulam between the host and the guest maybe we can say that circles are the offerings of the host?

R. Yes, you can say that, you're right.

19. S. (37:00) How can we feel without visualization?

R. Try to make these things tangible through the relation between the guest and the host, the relations between the Creator and the created being. Try to think about it all the time in different forms even if you're wrong, it doesn't matter. By this you are scrutinizing, you're changing your vessels, your feelings and eventually this brings you to the correct understanding and feeling. Don't you worry about it.

S. It's still a visualization when I try.

R. This is called from Lo LIshma, we come to Lishma, for her sake, for the time being we're all living in our egoistic desires and we try to build such forms that are seemingly spiritual, but actually we are building it out of these corporeal vessels, meaning egoistic ones, which is not spirituality but this is how it is. Like little kids playing with toys, a little car or a little doll, excetera, and gradually through that they prepare themselves to work with the true vessels. This is how we grow up, this is the nature of creation and this is why we shouldn't run away from all of these games but rather to do it and talk about it as much as possible between you but just don't confuse each other. So talk about it between you as much as possible throughout the day, but in the meantime we do need to advance.

Item 3 (38:57)

20. S. (40:13) So these three lines, this is the correction and the framework of that single line, or the line?

R. The pipeline is divided into three pipelines, we will see that later in the future. That's the style, you know, he writes a bit about something and then he stops and then maybe he talks about it, later, another hundred pages later on. That's how it is, he feels from within him right when he's looking at the material about the matter and how the light expands into the matter and how it comes to do the things. Let's say how you look when a cake is prepared right, they throw in eggs, sugar and flour and what not and then they begin to mix it up, and add a bit more something, tastes a bit more and then add a bit more. So in the meantime it's not yet clear to a person that it's not yet clear what we're talking about, that if we are bringing the cake this way and that he looks at it and he's calm but it's not known just like that. So that's how he explains to us a bit from here a bit from there all sorts of little measurable, yes, like singulars and that's how we advance. So let's pass it quietly. We need to a bit, to believe in Baal HaSulam that he knows in what manner now he needs to touch upon all sorts of these strings of our souls truly.

A bit here and a bit there, a bit of this, a bit of that, it's like you're tasting something that you're preparing in the kitchen. So you got a taste, a bit of something, you have to add a bit of this, a bit of that, that it will be clear in the end that you did it correctly or not in sum total. But now, already, you need to taste and add a bit, so that's how he's preparing us. He's bringing us along with him. So let's pass it quietly. Leading us in the same order that the vessels come and develop through. Make the effort also that along with everything that you'll have the sensation that you're going after the big person, that gives you a hand and you're grabbing onto his hand and that's how you advance and all of us together going, we're passing through together like this.

21. S. (43:21) You said open up your heart to the friend and at the same time close your heart to self reception we annul towards each other we discover a place where the Creator will be revealed. What does it mean to open your heart to the friend and what does it mean to restrict self reception and open your heart to the friend?

R. These are two separate things from one another, as much as you open the heart to the friend you and this are also closing your heart to yourself. You cannot be in both that are in different directions from one another. So as much as you think about the friend, that you want to save him, from let's say, from these dangerous waters that you were in together, in the boat and as much as you give him a hand and you understand that only together you can be saved, together that you can be saved in this, that you think about him and he thinks about you and not each one about himself and not each one into but each one and the other and then in such a manner you exit from this whirlpool.

S. When I try to open up my heart to the friend, does the friend feel it or do I feel it that somebody else is opening his heart to me?

R. No you don't need to feel. There are states that you don't reveal it but you must worry for it because in the opening of the heart to a friend you are opening your vessel of bestowing to the Creator, that that must be the final intention.

Item 4 (45:28)

22. R. (47:04) Go over this material when you meet and if there are any questions we can add tomorrow to this explanation, okay? All the problems, all the questions that you have on the study, the time of the study, please. I'll tell you one thing I took a book, that I learned by myself, by Rabash, you see here, this is the second part, this is the second part of TES. It's written here when I began studying this, 31st of November 1981, that's when I began studying this part and You can see here how much I have drawn and written on each and every page all these additions, you can barely read so much to that extent. So really I recommend that you also try to be as much as possible connected with the text, you have now computers on the screen and everything is already not like it was in my time, but in any case it's very important that you connect to the text. It's, nonetheless, the words of the ARI and Baal HaSulam, these are the two holy people that passed on to us the knowledge of the upper world.

S. Do you recommend to sit, like you, with a book?

R. No, not today it's really impossible, in my time there was no computer that you could just work with it, like this.

S. What about the computer, how to work with it in order to connect with the text?

R. Well don't ask me.

S. What do you recommend?

R. I recommend that you have near you maybe a notebook or maybe a page in the computer, yes, that you write there all sorts of things that either you want to scrutinize later or that interests you now, to pay attention to it, all sorts of things that's worthwhile to do. It helps to connect to the material. By Rabash he had books like this and there were like empty pages glued here, that we would glue inside and he would write additions, we would write additions, many. We don't need them in the meantime, but really everything you want to scrutinize, you should have a notebook that you write all sorts of things that you want to scrutinize later or ask or something that you can't do everything on the spot. Is that clear? That's it. Be a bit more connected to the material tied to it and in sum total study of the Ten Sefirot it's not too many pages, even that you are learning one page a day, in a few years you can go through this entire study. It's not something huge.

24. S. (51:06) What does it mean that light becomes water? Does light become more important?

R. The types of light that expands from above lower are called such, that's it, more than that we don't learn right now. Usually it's referring to the light of Hassadim, mercy.

25. S. (51:45) In item four it speaks about light, what are firmaments and 100 blessings, 100 gates. What are one hundred blessings and 100 gates?

R. I don't know, if he doesn't explain, don't ask me, why? Because it will probably be explained at a different place or as you know go to the meanings of the words at the end of this part and look over there for the meaning of 100 firmaments, blessings, gates. I can't answer your questions on each and every word here. You can ask several questions, so don't just stop us because you feel like knowing this. The next moment you want to know something else. We are learning like a stream whatever comes to us from Baal HaSulam and to ask on every word, that's impossible. Impossible. Rather if you will scrutinize it and if you want to understand, if it's really important, then we can make the effort together to answer. That's it, don't just look for just any questions rather questions that are in the stream of the lesson, with the same motion.

26. S. (53:15) We just talked about a book word versus a computer. I've been a computer guy from my young age, that's my profession. There is a huge difference for me between a book and the computer. Why is that, why does the book give me so much more power than when I look at the computer?

R. We don't learn it and we don't get into that, you understand each generation, each one has what's close to them. I don't want to get into all these things. Why are you pulling us from the topic of the lesson?

27. S. (53:59) What action should we perform in the lesson or what should we think about so that we will be together and unite in the lesson?

R. We need all the time to be together and make an effort together to understand what is written in the book, what the books are writing about, what it wants to explain, how we can in connection between us to begin to understand what it is talking about. If we want to get a bit deeper into the material, into understanding it, it's only in the extent that we connect between us. Only that is what we need to worry for.

28. S. (54:47) How do we overcome the lack of the desire to study TES? I have no grip on this material.

R. That's because you don't feel yet. I understand, so there are people who like to learn so they learn, right ,and there are people who are not so much into studying, they like more to feel, that's how they're built. These are more emotional, these are more intellectual, so you have like this and you have like that and we need to learn not for this or not for that. We are learning in order to connect, that the study will influence the connection between us. The connection between us. That's what we went to study to influence and on the extent of the connection of ours we will reveal the Creator. Is that clear? It's called Israel, the light and the Creator are one. That first they connect together to direct ourselves together to the Creator and then we reveal him, that's what the wisdom of Kabbalah talks about.

29. S. (56:09) Can we say alone it's a desire and together it's a vessel?

R. Yes, surely of course.

Reading item 2 (56:29)

30. S. (58:10) It is a bit unclear here in this part how from the line appears the circle?

R. I do not know we will learn and see, why I do not know, we will learn and we will see. Why are you demanding now that everything will be clear to you, learn from what he writes, learn all these things together and as much as you learn them you will feel them. You will get into them and see what is a circle and a line and how a line turns into a circle and back into a line. These are things related to understanding the material, how much the light operates inside the desire and changes the desire, and the desire changes and allows the light to expand either in a line or circle soon we will see. Do not ask on the spot. I recommend like this, write down your questions during the study and then we will scrutinize later.

S. We can be more precise, you said that we need to feel, try to feel out of our connection, how come we depict it so that we will feel it, the circle and the line, how can we feel it in our work?

R. All connected in mutual bestowal, mutual desire to one another, that each one worries about the friend until all the friends will be connected together and that the Creator will be revealed in a connection between us, only. He cannot be revealed in any other way and so when we are connected in such a manner, we are called a circle and the circle is composed of this, that each one wants to annul towards the friends and where he is only for them and not for himself. From this we are building this form called a circle and already, in this we are revealing the Creator in something and beginning to feel him, that he expands inside the circle. Then later we will learn more how the line is built and how we can, by the line, how to put it together and bestow back to the Creator which is already intentional behavior. We will see. It is a very emotional matter and very close to us on one hand, on the other hand it is hard for us to grasp it, it is hard. It is entirely not not in our nature.

Reading Item 5 (01:01:22)

31. R. (01:01:52) It is clear, yes? The line that is a lie that expands according to the laws of the four phases.

Reading Item 6 (01:02:00)

32. R. (01:02:19) Meaning if we are talking about immediately or slowly, soon, after, it is not talking about time it’s talking about an order of action, of operation only.

Reader continues:

R. (01:02:53) During when we are reading, we need to all the time think, to expect that we are reading together and that we will want it together and we will influence each and everyone and all of us together. That we will begin to feel how these things occur because it is in the desire that reaches also the Kabbalist whoever wrote it. He feels it inside his desire, so all the time he makes the effort to get closer to him, to the Kabblist who writes it and we want to feel what he felt during when he wrote it.

33. S. (01:03:51) There is connecting between us and searching what is happening in the text between us and the ten and mostly as much as possible?

R. That is not enough we need also to connect to the author.

S. What exactly does it mean to connect to Baal HaSulam?

R. Yes he is the source, we want to connect to the source from which we hear, we read, we receive a certain sensation. We want to connect to him and to feel in this the longing to what he wrote. During his writing he attains he feels to participate in that same attainment, that same sensation.

S. What does it mean to connect to Baal HaSulam right now between us?

R. Baal HaSulam is a desire, we are all desire, besides the Creator desire to bestow we are talking about desire to receive. There is a certain desire which attains the actions of the Creator and explains it to us. I want to incorporate in that same desire in order that to also incorporate in that same attainment of his in the Creator. In order to do this I need to connect with more people it's desirable for at least ten and then in the annulment of the egoistic desire towards one another, in this we will be ready to connect to Baal HaSulam and his connection with the Creator.

S. The connection is between us in the ten and to him, to Baal HaSulam?

R. Yes our connection in the ten is that each one will annul their private ego first and that will get from the others, grasp from the others desires also small for connection with the Creator. That one will have the connection between us and desires to connect to the Creator then we will feel how their Creator is revealed to us.

S. And this is how we get the attainment of the Baal HaSulam?

R. Not his but a certain measure.

S. And where is Rav here? Where are you?

R. We’ll meet, I am on the way with you, I will accompany you.

Reading Item 7 (01:06:35) “This is the root of the expansion…”

34. R. (1:07) Meaning the light that expands suddenly reveals some renewal in the expansion of the light and that renewal is called Keter the beginning of the renewal.

Reading continued (01:07:01)“From this Keter…”

35. R. (01:07:57) Meaning from the light of infinity there comes out a line and this line built at four degrees four stages in the expansion of the light inside the light that is what we read until now so till next time.

Reading item 8 ( 01:08:16) "For the meaning of the word circle.."

36. R. (01:08:29) When the light of the light dresses in a circle it is called a wheel. This desire does not have all sorts of discernment between them and internality so it is called round and the light that enters such a desire is also called a circle round. Then the light that fills the desire in such a manner is called that it is in a wheel. These are maybe mechanical descriptions you can say but we need some way to match ourselves in our mutual understanding. That is why we say it like this. All the wisdom of Kabbalah is filled with different definitions of the light and vessels of different lights and that is how we begin to understand out of the collection of lights and vessels the desire of the Creator. How he works, how he operates we learn about him in such a manner and the light that expands from him in our vessels that we received these lights on till we match our vessels to the lights in some total we match ourselves to the Creator which is called adhesion. All right. I see that our friends are getting tired maybe we will go on to the women

37. S. (01:10:07) What is reciprocity? How do reciprocity and bestowal fit together?

R. Where did they use the word reciprocity?

S. You have mentioned it before.

R. Where is it written here?

S. It is from your words that it is not written here.

R. No, my words are mine.

38. S. ( 01:10:55 ) Why do we use light in plural like an item four. What is the difference between light and lights?

R. Because there is one light that comes from the Creator usually it is called Ein Sof which includes in it all of the discernments and afterwards this light which is according to the vessels already divided into many forms many vessels so it is called light. Lights all according to the receivers with respect to the receivers in the light there is no changes no divisions. The vessels however they feel it that is how they call it.

39. S. ( 01:11:40) What does it mean to relate to the ten in a line? Does it relate to each friend individually or everyone together?

R. To relate in a line means according to the desire of the giver and the receiver. That what is between them is called a line.

40. S. ( 01:12:02) Are there any exercises to develop the emotion of TES that you speak about in the ten maybe?

R. As much as we will learn more and discuss then we will get closer to this and we will begin to feel TES. But really we feel TES to the extent that we annul towards one another then we will be able to feel what TES is talking about because TES is talking after the restriction after the annulment of one towards the other.

41. S. (01:2:44) Is it enough to work opposite to the desire that I recognize inside myself in order to feel the Creator's desire? Is this the restriction?

R. If I feel that I relate to the friends according to my ego and my desire then of course I make a restriction on all of my relations to them and check myself how I relate to them in connection and love and a hug and assistant and support accordingly we will advance.

42. S. ( 01:13:29 ) Do the lines and circles give us different sensations for example a filling vs. the limitation, can the ten recognize different feelings at every stage?

R. Yes, and we will learn from it, we will be able to identify it.

Reading Item 3 (01:13:57) “The circle is not in adhesion with Ein Sof but...”

43. R. (01:14:11) As we learned that there are circles and straightness, circles and straightness, circles and straightness, the straightness, the line, it connects between the circles, yes.

Item 3 (01:14:25) “The circle was not attached...”

44. R. (01:14:31) It is talking about the biggest circle.

Item 3 Continues: (01:14:34) “Because if it adheres to it…”

45. R. (01:14:52) This is talking about the biggest most external circle that was made inside the light of Ein Sof that if it annuls then again it will be only Ein Sof.

Reading Item 3. (01:15:09) “Hence this circle is adjacent…”

46. R. (01:15:36) Meaning we have a circle, we have all sorts of drawings that I did here, and so from the top circle there is a line that makes another circle inside the upper circle. It finishes it and then again another line is continued and that is how it continues until it finishes its expansion in ten circles.

47. S. (01:16:12) What is this junction between the line and circle?

R. They equalize, circle and line in mutual intention. Soon we will get into it even more. Maybe we will begin to learn and then answer questions. The questions are still not according to the material I think.

Reading item 3. (01:16:57) “The circle was not attached with...”

Inner Light #9. (01:17:16 “This means that the entire light...”

48. R. (01:18:04) Meaning that, maybe I have some kind of drawing here. Something like this for example: [Rav displays a picture from his notes.] That it is a line that comes from the light of Ein Sof spreading through the ten circles until it reaches the center and there in the center is the point of this world. Let’s continue.

Reading item 10. (01:18:59) “Explains from all its sides...”

49. S. (01:19:34) What is the meaning of the light expands until the point of this world?

R. That it passes through all of the circles reaching the common center of all the circles. That means that the light extends down to the central point and this is what I showed you previously.

S. When you say this world do you say this imaginary world that we live in, the desire of the ego, the desire to receive?

R. This World includes that imaginary world, yes it includes the imaginary world. Later we will talk about it. We will specify what is this world and what exactly goes on.

50. S. ( 01:21:51 ) If you could say how can a Kabbalist even attain and describe this in circles because we say that everything is attained with a screen I guess it is a line?

R. Through the line straight line you attain the circles. Actually inside of us we also consist of vessels of Yosher and vessels of Igulim. line and circles and even though we do not attain it through the circle but through the Yosher line we do.

51. S. (01:21:44) If we build restrictions Masach, how do we affect the circles or do we affect the circles or do we just affect both?

R. Through the straight line we influence the circles. We scrutinize them. We can even say that we build the circles. The line is actually our only option through which we can influence creation that on the part of the Creator is entirely circles and on the part of the created being it is entirely Yosher, line but by wanting to gradually come to equivalence of form with the circles meaning for us to be able to bestow unlimitedly then by that we come closer to the circles Igulium, eventually certainly we reach a state of circles and the end of correction is in that Igulim and Yosher will be an equivalence of form that everyone will have both the circles and the line.

52. R. (01:26:43) I just wanted to add to Igulim and Yosher, circles and lines. These are from two different forms of providence from the Creator to the created beings that providence through Yosher pushes us for taking us from place to place. It is a targeted goal-oriented providence and the influence of circles from the upper light to the created beings is like general providence for example keeping the world from exploding by doing different nonsense that you can't correct. General providence that is above human powers above man's participation in creation so above these two Igulim and Yosher. We too need to feel the measure to which we are in these two that there is general providence around us that comes to us through the circles, encompasses us, guides us, advances us and creation and also theYosher, the line. This is already more particular Providence from one day to the next more felt by the created beings. We will talk about these things. The only thing that I want to say is do not relate to it as something that is far from us redundant, or theoretical. Here we are reading about these two forms through which the Creator influences the Igulim circles and Yosher lines.

53. S. ( 01:30:39) What is that new emanated being?

R. This I do not understand, where does it say it?

S. In the inner night, Inner light number 7.

R. This is the root of the expansion that was innovated call the line because it is a new animated being because it works according to to the Tzimtzum Aleph, the first restriction by line.

54. S. (01:31:26) It says that the line that enters, the circle is called a wheel, so is that revealed to the extent that the light clothes upon it?

R. Everything is revealed from above as Ein Sof, Infinity and from that later comes a kind of influence called line that enters the circles and fulfills them, and that is why the entire structure of creation consists of circles and line, and it all depends on the measure to which the dependent the creative being  makes the Tzimtzum, Masach and Ohr Hozer by that he imprints the light of infinity in the ego and turns into a line.

55. S. (01:32:29) Is everything TES speaking about is love your friend as yourself?

R. All of the Kelim that are revealed about which we study and TES, these are vessels of bestowal that are revealed under the condition of love another as yourself. If I want to discover some kind of spiritual force I need to be in the power of love another as yourself to some extent, even one gram.

56. S. (01:33:27) What is the difference between the light of Ein Sof and the first circle that is adjacent to it? Phase four determines its reception; does it also determine why the light bestows upon it?

R. You are asking several questions. There's differences between the light of Ein Sof and the circle. In the circle we already have a certain degree of equivalence of form between the will to receive and the light that fulfills the circle, and therefore both of them together or call Galgalta.

S. So, there is a light of Ein Sof, the fourth phase restricts itself, and then a line and a circle comes?

R. No, it is not that it immediately becomes a circle and a line.

S. What comes first?

R. The lower one builds its attitude towards Ein Sof, that is first called Circle and then a line.

S. So, the lower one determines it all?

R. Yes, it determines everything, restricts itself, and by that determines its attitude towards the Creator and then accepts it in the form of a line or a circle.

57. S. (01:34:48) Can we say that every connection can be implemented only with a line?

R. Of course, how could it be any other way?, without the line there is no connection between the two without the discernment there is no connection but only through the line.

S. We say that later we're on all the development is possible only through lines?

R. The connection happens when the line equalizes with a circle to some extent and becomes a circle and fulfills it and that is how they connect. We will learn about these things, we will learn about throughout this entire part.

58. S. (01:35:47) In the Hebrew, it is clear that we have a line of ARI and then we have a line of Baal HaSulam and then Baal HaSulam goes deeper and then we even have pnimi and questions and things like that, so there is a clear like we are going deeper on the magnifying glass each time but I think and the other languages it is not clear at all where we are we are just reading one straight thing from top to bottom. So, it might be helpful because it is not organized like that it is not a problem for the translators but for the student it is difficult to tell exactly where we are and what we are reading, okay now Baal HaSulam is describing the ARI, okay now Baal HaSulam is expanding something he already gave us, something like that.

R. In Hebrew too there are difficulties until you get accustomed to the style in which the text is divided into these parts of Ohr Pnimi, … the words of Ari, the words of Baal HaSulam, the meaning of the words. I understand what you are saying but everyone has to see how to arrange it according to what is convenient to you. I saw such things over the years, how my students do it, that they really made research about how to correctly arrange Ari's text, Baal HaSulam's text, their text I cannot say. If you see what I did in my book, I will show you again, so here I glued different pages that I wrote on, I wrote on these pages different things and there are text here from TES around which I wrote, etc. I always wrote it with a date suppose this is from 6/11/81. I studied this in 1981, and look how much I added into my text more things to Baal HaSulam's text and the ARI do you understand a bit in order to get a bit deeper into the matter also glued and made different kinds of pictures sketches different things, until it became Incorporated and that feeling that it is actually a feeling all in all. What are we expressing here?

Our connection and the ten or in a small group it does not matter which, and the Creator and how do we connect to Him this is what the wisdom of Kabbalah talks about that is it. There is nothing else to talk about until we understand it takes time. But we, nonetheless I mustn't forget that what we are talking about here is feeling. What do I feel in my connection to others, to connect, to the Creator, through the friend and in what form of connection do I speak. That is it. It all depends on the measure to which I adhere to the friend and he adheres to me and together we annul our particular egos and to that measure we allow, we are capable of feeling the Creator between us.

S. What he is saying here is not arranged this way on the site itself but it is one straight text running from beginning to end, and therefore it is hard to find the nuances.

R. Okay, what can I do? I'm explaining to you how it is in our source text and out there it is more or less somehow the situation is good… do it in the best possible way for it to suit the friends in short. Slowly slowly, we will go as we go from beginning to end, meaning that at first we try to swallow as much as then we can and then we start saying how can we arrange the studies, the text and come closer to feeling it understanding it, until we will start feeling it inside of us we cannot say that we came to any kind of understanding it. It is said in the wisdom of the Kabbalah the heart understands, the heart understands, it needs to be arranged according to reception and bestowal, giving in such a way that it will start up to the point where it will start standing at the connection.

59. S. (01:42:02) I thought about what you said before, to try to feel Baal HaSulam when we try to feel Baal HaSulam, that is our private desire. How can we use the ten so it will not be something personal on my own but through the ten that I try to feel Baal HaSulam?

R. That you are studying together with us on the lesson, that you are with us together on a lesson, and that later on throughout the day you try to come closer to each other. This builds a Kli between you and then Baal HaSulam will gradually become revealed, the Ari and the entire wisdom of Kabbalah, our entire relationship with a Creator is gradually built and is becoming revealed between you. Look, it is a matter of time and desire.

60. S. (01:43:18) I wanted to ask in our state can we really determine what providence is working on us, whether it is a circle or a line?

R. It is both circle and line. We will learn about it.

61. S. (01:43:48) I in item #9 Baal HaSulam writes that the light and the circles are received from the line, so it is the same light and he adds that it is a new illumination?

R. Because it enters new vessels even though it is received through the line, you receive those circles through the line but the light that spreads through the circles already takes on the form of the circles because it fulfills them. We will talk about this. We will see the difference between them.

S. It's the same line, is it just perceived differently?

R. Well, if we feel it differently then it is a different light. But the fact that it comes from the Creator and spreads in the creative being it is the same light but when it passes through different Kelim then it is revealed and felt differently according to the Kli, the vessel.

62. S. (01:45:09) We try to scrutinize all this in the ten clear examples of relationships between us in an emotional way, this Independence, how is it expressed?

R. I do not understand what you are asking.

S. The independence or the lack of dependency, if we go back to the second item we learned in the lesson. How is that expressed in the relationships between the friends?

R. To the extent to which you wish to help each other you advance, that is it.

63. S. (01:45:15) If the text speaks about a circle, isn't it right to speak about a sphere and something with a volume and not something flat?

R. This is how Kabbalists lay it out, sure these circles, they are like spheres and that is how he explains it but for us superficially it is easier for us to as plain circles.

64. S. (01:46:52) Is the line, the love of the Creator to the created beings, and the circle, the love of created beings to the Creator?

R. No, actually the circle is the Creator's attitude toward the created beings, and the line is the created beings attitude towards the Creator. When He reveals them.

65. S. (01:47:14) The interaction between lines and circles is felt like a hug from the text. How to implement that in our connection between us?

R. The more we come closer to each other wanting to be in Arvut, the more we implement it.

66. S. (01:47:34) From the line, circles are created from the center of the line or from the edge of the circle?

R. I do not know what you mean by the edge of the circle, in a circle, there is no edge.

67. S. (01:47:52) When I repeat what we study from TES during the day. How to know if the reading is, or I read it by myself?

R. It is not good that you read by yourself. You should read it with others or repeat the lesson.
