Baal HaSulam. "Study of the Ten Sefirot" (TES). Part 2. Chapter Two. Histaklut Pnimit #1
Reader. Item 1. “The ARI spoke very little of the Eser Sefirot of Igulim…” (00:01 - 01:08)
36. R. You can continue this is essentially like an introduction.
Reader. Item 2 “We should begin with a general understanding....” (01:15 - 03:00)
37. R. In the meantime, I don't see questions, it is clear and spoken about more or less.
There is the difference between Igulim and Yosher and now he starts to emphasize what it is. In the circles, the outer the circle is the greater it is; in the Yosher, the less it is.
Reader. Item 3 “It is the opposite with the Sefirot de Yosher...” (03:40 - 05:31)
38. S. (05:35) What is the difference in the definition? It seems like what's closest to Ein Sof, like Adam Kadmon or the circle of the Keter, they're more important... but it's uncertain what he's trying to say here. What is the emphasis?
R. It is more important as we're speaking about a system, the Igul, the circle, the greater the outer, the more external it is, the closer it is to Ein Sof because Ein Sof is even far beyond that Igul more externally outwards. Because the Kav comes from equivalence of form, so the more inner it is, the greater it is, the more equivalence and closeness it has.
S. The measurement is in a different Kli?
R. The measurement is towards the Creator who is more and who is less so the outer circle is closer to the Creator and the inner Kav compared to the others is closer to the Creator. The difference is that Igul follows its nature, Kav follows overcoming its nature. It is the opposite action.
Reader. Item 4 “There are two kinds of reception in the Kli....” (07:02 - 08:38)
Item 5 “The first three Bechinot only cause the appearance....” (08:41 - 12:39)
39. S. (12:41) It seems that what he explains here if I understand correctly he's explaining the inverse relationship between the lights and the vessels that the innermost thickness in the line is actually the most important vessel?
R. Correct, that is true.
40. S. (13:09) Is there a meeting point between the Sefirot of the circles and the Sefirot of the straightness?
R. Yes, we already learned that. That this meeting point is that the three Sefirot of Yosher are in equivalence, certain equivalence with the Sefirot of Igulim, but the seven Sefirot of Yosher are without equivalence with the Igulim circles. So, the Kav the line through its GAR, the first three Sefirot can fulfil the Igulim the circles, but the ZAT of the line only connects through the Yosher to the Sefirot of Igulim. But it doesn't enter the Igulim it passes through them.
41. S. (14:11) What are these first Sefirot of GAR that influence the circles?
R. There's no limitations there, no will to receive there. By that, they equalize to the circles. Because in the circles, there is no will to receive that limits them, nothing. It is just the will to receive in a way that it lets the light fill it whichever way the light wants to. It is completely free. This is why they are called circles even though they are vessels, desires, but desires that don't limit the light. Meaning they don't yearn to be an equivalence of form with the light, they don't feel a difference between them in the light. They are vessels that came before the first restriction, Tzimtzum Aleph. Now, in the line we have 10 Sefirot but the Sefirot of Keter, Hochma, and Bina still don't have limitations there. That is why they are in contact with the circles and they can fill them. We will talk about it, it's not so simple, it will gradually becomes more clear.
S. Is there a role for the line to fill the circles first, or it should first draw the lower Sefirot and fill them? Forgive me if my question is wrong.
R. The purpose of the line is to fill all of the vessels with the upper light, of course if the vessel wants to receive. After the restriction the light enters through the line and then the line as much as it goes through the circles it can fill them, that is what we learn. Gmar Tikkun is when the Kav the line will be in the same form like the circles, without any limits and can fill all of the vessels without any limitations.
42. S. (16:54) The line passes the light from the space to the circles of the line and then later moves on to the circles of the circles?
R. The line is after the restriction. In contact with the upper line as much as it opens itself, the upper light can go through it and on the way fill the circles. We have to understand that in the circles there is no revealed desire that is under the restrictions, the screens, it is all the work of the line. Meaning that if we want to depict for ourselves creation correctly: all of the vessels before the Tzimtzum the restriction are circles, and all the vessels after the restrictions are Yosher lines. And then the question is, how the vessels of the line can fill the vessels of the circles?
S. The line of Hochma, suppose, passes the light to the circles of the line of Bina or the circles of ...?
R. That is what we will learn later, the connection between Igulim and Yosher and how they connect between them. But actually, the line reaches each and every circle. There is no connection between the circles, what connects between them is the line.
43. S. (18:48) Is it fair to say there's a transition between the circle and the lines and that transition is the ten?
R. Yes, the Kav, the line is the ten. And the circles are, let’s say, humanity, all of humanity with their desires are the circles.
44. S. (19:27) He says the will to receive is not determined in the emanated being to be worthy until the four phases go through. What does this mean? I thought everything is predetermined?
R. I don't understand what you mean?
S. “Meaning this vessel, meaning the will to receive is not determined in the emanated being to be worthy of his role until the four phases go through”
R. Until the upper light doesn't build the four phases of direct light and reaches Behina Dalet and Behina Dalet starts feeling that she receives. Before that you can't say that there is a created being.
S. Am I certain to reach the four phases?
R. The light does that there is no created being yet, the light builds these things.
45. S. (20:39) In Item 3 when he describes the ten Sefirot of Yosher, he describes the external and internal. He doesn’t emphasize it, really, but does he mean to say that this world is the finer and the most important, is that the inversion?
R. Our world is the most important because that is the biggest point of darkness, even though it is not revealed towards the created beings but it is the center of all creation. It is in the center of creation. That is why it is the most important.
S. So it is as if it doesn't fall into place, certainly not in my mind, when we say that we raise Malchut to Bina that we want to rise to the world of Atzilut.
R. Yes, it is in an ascent. We want to raise this entire world into the world of Atzilut. This world that is in Malchut, in the center black dark point we want to restrict it and raise to Atzilut. Rise to Atzilut from Bina, all of Atzilut is Bina and then all of the Olamot: Assiya through Yetzira through Beria rise to Atzilut. Then Atzilut actually can expand in the entire vessel of Malchut of Ein Sof which is where there is a connection between Malchut and Bina. That’s the correction. We correct the Malchut, Olam Adam Kadmon is not counted between the worlds. It is called Olam haKeter. Why? Because there it is only revealed that there is Malchut and then by the Nekudot de SAG and Bina we break the Malchut and then sparks of Bina enter the Malchut and then come out the Olamot of ABYA and they come in order to correct the Malchut. What we do in the Olamot of ABYA is us correcting the Malchut, the Malchut of Ein Sof and actually it happens by correcting the NHY of AK, NHY of Galgalta, this is where the vessels are that we need to correct.
46. S. (23:50) We said the circles are a desire that is completely activated by the light, so what is the difference between the external and internal circles?
R. Closer or further away from the light according to the desire in them.
47. S. (24:12) What is the difference between Kav and Yosher?
R. Actually you can say that it is the same but we use the line, the Kav in order to emphasize that it comes from in a constant tendency from above downward and also raises our responses from below upwards and the Yosher we say it is straight, in order to show that it has no form of a circle, that it goes according to the Dalet Bechinot that one discernment doesn't action after the next.
48. S. (25:18) What does it mean that the fourth phase is worthy of being a Kli for the emanated being? Why that, specifically?
R. The will to receive, when it is not opposite of the Creator in any discernment because she is opposite, she is worthy of being the Kli.
S. What does it mean that the ten is a line and humanity is a circle?
R. Because humanity doesn't have good or bad, discernments or Tzimtzum or reflected light they have no will to bestow, no connection to Bina just a bit of Malchut in such a form that it is not Behina Dalet it's like the previous Behinot. That’s why they are suffering, and they feel everything, but they feel it on the degree of the still, vegetative and animate. We feel the sorrow on the speaking degree which is deeper and also along with that more purposeful. Because Behina Dalet is already connected to Keter. That’s why humanity, it is in circles that are not complete, it’s circles. This is why it is hard for them to understand the direction, the development, the spiritual. It's things that are not in them yet in order to aim them or push them ahead. Only we need to organize for them this correction, this is why the connection between us and humanity is like the connection between the Kav, the line and the Igulim, the circles. We will have to fill them but they are very big vessels, a few more and more times bigger than us. But, because of that, we can organize them and feel and correct them because we bring them the light from the Kav, the line. When they organize with our bestowal with our dissemination, they become belonging to the Kav and they can receive from us actions and relate themselves to the line. Then we get deficiencies from them and we can raise them as MAN and receive lights back for them MAD and fill them and us with those corrections we don't feel ourselves. All we do is correct ourselves to be a line which is more and more complex. Like a tree and fill the vessels of the circles that grow on our branches, like the fruit on the trees. They remain circles and we remain lines.
49. S. (28:43) Can we say a circle is a surrounding light?
R. Not only surrounding but there are a lot of forms, and in Part 4 of TES we will learn that there are 20 forms of Igulim and vessels of Yosher and Igulim there are tens of discernments in each one.
50. S. (29:16) Can we say that the circle is a state of the desire and straightness is the action?
R. You can say that in something, you are correct.
51. S. (29:32) You mentioned that the Behina Dalet is connected to Keter. What is this connection and how is it expressed?
R. Yes, in her reflected light she reaches Keter and the deficiencies revealed in her will to receive come from the desire to bestow in Keter. This is why there's a connection between them.
Reader. Item 6 “Pnimiut and Aviut are the same...” (30:11 - 32:08)
52. S. (32:16) He is saying that Behina Dalet is considered the one that receives the abundance only because it is the coarsest; this is the opposite as the lowest but it receives all the abundance?
R. Because it comes after all of them they all build her and bring her all of the Aviut of each one of them so it turns out that she includes all Aviut all, of the passion, all of the deficiencies, all of the desires and if she arranges herself properly to the upper light, she receives. All in all, who enjoys more? The one who has the bigger deficiency. You need to be opposite from the Creator, opposite from the light, according to your desire the more the better. Then you can receive the light from Him and fill you in the closest way to Him. Do you understand? In two opposite forms you have to be included, a big desire that you also don't have and a big intention to bestow that you also don't have. These are two things that you need, then it is called the Malchut has to receive these two discernments from Keter.
S. The last sentence you said the vessels are very big. What is a big vessel or a small one?
R. According to feeling of the emptiness, of the desire of the lack of correction. It's not according to a desire, just like that. Just a desire is not a Kli. A Kli in spirituality is yearning for Dvekut, for adhesion. That I know what I am going towards, what I want and who I am receiving from, what I'm receiving. This is all called the finishing and the completion of the Kli and this is through many actions like we are doing now. All of our groups are gradually preparing their deficiencies in such a way that it will resemble the Creator and He can answer the deficiency and give exactly what you are asking for. This is called make your desire as His desire. That from this He will make His desires yours. So, we have to reach that state that the Creator wants to give us and then He will.
S. Can I build coarseness, or do I get it naturally?
R. You build the right Aviut in the group, yearning to the Creator, more and more and from this we enter the understanding as much as our work has to be aimed towards the Creator, but through the ten. Because without the right connection between us we will not be a Kli.
S. This means that our success of the whole work is to build the coarseness?
R. The building of Aviut is composed of the ten that resembles the same feeling that the Creator wants to give and then you gradually discover that more than the calf wants to suckle that the cow wants to feed.
53. S. (36:06) The GAR of the Sefirot of Yosher connect to the circles to the extent of the equivalence of form?
R. Yes.
S. What happens to the ZAT, don’t they correct?
R. No, they go onward in the space between the circles, all the ZAT in the line and then you have the next Sefira in the Kav that also is included of GAR and ZAT that its GAR fills the circles that belong to her.
S. Those ZAT they are the ones that push, that is the Aviut, the coarseness, if I understand correctly, don’t they correct eventually?
R. In another page or two he talks about it.
54. S. (37:06) The line fills the circle and the tens fill the world, thanks to that?
R. Here you can see that there must be a connection between the Kav which is each and every group of ours to the circles which are people who are not part of us.
S. Can we say that the essence of Behina Dalet will be corrected when it draws all of the desire?
R. Of course, yes.
Reader. Item 7 “Proximity and remoteness from the Maatzil are....” (37:54 - 39:33)
Reader. Item 8 “In Eser Sefirot of Yosher the degree is.....” (39:40 - 41:44)
55. R. More or less we understand that it all depends on the Aviut of the Masach and that also depends on the Aviut of Malchut itself, the will to receive. And also on the upper light that can supply a resisting force to the will to receive. By this, the Masach is built and the Ohr Hozer, the measure of bestowal from the created being to the Creator.
56. S. (42:19) If I understand correctly, aren't the circles those vessels of reception that were banned from receiving?
R. No, circles are vessels that are before the Tzimtzum Aleph, the first restriction. It is desires to receive that the Creator created in root 1 2 3 4. There is no lack in spirituality, and the circles, these vessels exist. Then comes the feeling of reception in the circles and a restriction that was in one, equality because it was still in the circles and from here on the line starts, meaning an attitude between the created being to the Creator. But the previous vessels, there are no deficiency in spirituality, they remain. When will there be the Gmar Tikkun? We count it according to as much as we can fill the circles.
S. So we feel as if...if we compare the circles to humanity so we feel humanity before the restriction, it is in Ein Sof, not under the restriction?
R. Humanity, on one hand is below the Tzimtzum, on the other hand, we can say that it is in the circles, otherwise, how would we exist? Also, circles and also lines work on us. The lines, the Yosher, it’s working on us in a very small and delicate way and the circles we are in and without this we cannot exist. That I live without any connection to the Emanator, that’s called that I feed from the circles. That I feed from the Klipot. The Klipot are fed from the Igulim. We will talk about it. It is not simple we need to see the complete picture and it will gradually be revealed.
57. S. (45:23) What is the key to turn from being fed from the circles to become fed from the connection with the Emanator?
R. To be with a Masach. This is why there is a part of the people that belong to the Yosher that they can be in Yosher and they get a deficiency in Yosher and they reach the wisdom of Kabbalah.and they start building, for themselves, on their will to receive Tzimtzum Masach Ohr Hozer to become Yosher. Everything is a desire, either desires of Igulim or Yosher, there are no other creations. Now, the desire in the circle: still vegetative and animate and the people who are also part of the animate, these are all circles and there is no other attitude between them, it is all in the circles. There is a small part of humanity that can be in Yosher, gets an awakening, and education, studies, the Creator organizes them in tens, and they try to put groups together, the screen, the reflected light and they become Yosher. Then, according to the way that they want to be in Yosher, the general system is organized which is shattered, and starts becoming a fulfillment of the circles start by the vessels of the lines. The lines are called Israel because they are aimed Yashar Kel to be in mutuality with the Creator and they have a method called the wisdom of Kabbalah, how to receive the upper light and pass it to the vessels of the circles, to all of humanity to all of the vessels of the circles, to all humanity, to all the kli of Adam HaRishon, that is called the soul of Adam HaRishon and they engage in that. We are in exactly a stage historically that this work is starting to actually happen in practice and before that it was only a preparation. We are the first generation of the generation of the correction.
S. If we take the parable with the guest and the host there is a meal on the table then to perform the restriction and the screen and the overcoming just to bestow this is clear but the way you describe the work now it's not clear what you are restricting, what you are placing the screen on?
R. You want to see the meal before you and what vessels you will see? The whole table has to be inside your vessels that you see the table, the host, you see the treats.
S. So what do you restrict and place the Masach upon?
R. You are just doing the preparation in the group if you don't build a Kli you don't have anything to come with you don't have a ticket to come in, you have an invitation but they're still not letting you into the hall with the food because you don't have a vessel, what do you pay with? You can only eat to the equivalence, the extent of equivalence of form with your host.
S. So we are preparing the equivalence of form between us in the ten so that we can even enter to see the meal and upon that we will see what Baal HaSulam describes?
R. Then we will be in contact with the host and each and everyone will say, here is our God.
S. The whole preparation work is the faith above reason where we are building the meal?
R. Yes, we are building our Kli which is worthy for the meal. I think it is things that are clear to everyone.
58. S. (50:02) Seems like the coarseness of the desire spreading into the desire to bestow as much as possible but in our day is this coarseness developed the ego that exists in the world now?
R. Nothing doesn't develop, there is nothing new, the upper light bestows upon the desire after the shattering of this entire vessel and it reveals more and more desires that are already shattered and we feel it. We are those desires. That is it. Don't build some imagination to yourselves that doesn't exist.
59. S. (51:01) Should the attitude towards the friend be through a line?
R. Your attitude to the friend has to be in one heart. That's it.
60. S. (51:21) We know that the circles are not waiting for us like that in a good way, there is the evil eye.
R. An evil eye is envy, bad envy of one friend in another. Bad envy is when a person doesn't want his friend to develop spiritually. Good envy is the opposite is when he is envious of his friend which is greater than he is and he also wants to be great, that is the difference. Everything is in us both day good envy and the bad envy, good eye and evil eye.
