Article No. 3, 1984

“And a certain man found him, and behold, he was wandering in the field. And the man asked him, saying, ‘What are you seeking?’ And he said, ‘I seek my brothers.” Tell me, I pray you, where they are feeding the flock?’” (Genesis, 37).

A man “wandering in the field” refers to a place from which the crop of the field to sustain the world should spring. And the works of the field are plowing, sowing, and reaping. It is said about that: “They that sow in tears shall reap in joy,” and this is called “a field which the Lord has blessed.”

Baal HaTurim explained that a person wandering in the field refers to one who strays from the path of reason, who does not know the real way, which leads to the place he should reach, as in “an ass wandering in the field.” And he comes to a state where he thinks that he will never achieve the goal he should achieve.

“And the man asked him, saying, ‘What are you seeking?’” meaning, “How can I help you?” “And he said: ‘I seek my brethren.’” By being together with my brothers, that is, by being in a group where there is love of friends, I will be able to mount the trail that leads to the house of God.

This trail is called “a path of bestowal,” and this way is against our nature. To be able to achieve it, there is no other way but love of friends, by which each one can help his friend.

“And the man said: ‘They are departed hence.’” And RASHI interpreted that they had departed themselves from the brotherhood, meaning they do not want to bond with you. This, in the end, caused Israel’s exile in Egypt. And to be redeemed from Egypt, we must take it upon ourselves to enter a group that wants to be in love of friends, and by that we will be rewarded with exodus from Egypt and the reception of the Torah.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (04:42) What is the sustenance of the world that he is talking about: The crop that sustains the world?

M. Laitman: What the field produces is sufficient in order to sustain the whole world; it's designed for that.

Student: In terms of an existential perspective or all aspects?

M. Laitman: Yes, existential.

Student: What is the field?

M. Laitman: The field is the place in which a person should exert labor, and as a result of the labor he will have crops, grains, and that will give him everything he needs in order to reach the purpose of creation.

Student: Meaning, to me, that is the Ten.

M. Laitman: For us, the field is everything. It includes the still, vegetative, animate, and speaking, including everything we want, we need for our meetings, and with the correct attitude toward them, we receive everything we need to reach the connection with this field.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (06:44) He says, here, that “a man is wandering in the field, meaning he comes to a state where he thinks that he will never reach the goal he should achieve. Then, a man encounters him and asks him, what are you seeking”? What is that state that a person is in some sort of despair or he doesn't understand how he's going to reach the goal. And then a man meets him and asks him a question, what is that?

M. Laitman: Meaning, if not for this person along the way, on the road, he wouldn't know what to ask for. So, it turns out that through the connection, through his connection with the field, he comes to the questions—questions that aim him more correctly toward the purpose to which the field should bring him. And then, he continues and he enters the field and he can use it correctly with the revelation of all kinds of conditions that he must uncover. And the revelation of these conditions — they help a person reach the true goal and then he's incorporated in the field.

Student: Now he answers him, I seek my brethren, not I seek the goal so, probably, he went through many preparations for this state?

M. Laitman: It’s possible.

Student: Why isn't he saying I'm looking for the goal of life, why is he saying I look for my brethren?

M. Laitman: The goal of life, the purpose, is still ahead of him; he's not ready for it.

Student: Then, he tells him, your brothers went away from that. What does it mean? The brothers are to blame, he's to blame, what is this answer? What does it mean that your brothers didn't take you with them?

M. Laitman: That helps a person understand that his brethren are already on a higher degree compared to him, hence that is why he stays in the field and his brethren are advancing toward the goal.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (10:25) It's written, “a field that's been blessed by the Creator”. How do we reach, in the Ten, the field that's blessed by the Creator?

M. Laitman: “The field that's been blessed” is when we reach a state where we see it as the blessed place. And all of that is so we would reveal to ourselves the purpose of life and the connection between us. We reveal the purpose of life with the help of the connection between us when we yearn to reveal him, to reveal it. In this way, we advance toward the goal.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (12:02) It says, here, “in order to come out of Egypt we have to take upon ourselves to enter a group of people who want to be in love of friends and by that we will merit exiting Egypt and achieving the reception of the Torah”. Why, specifically, through love of friends we'll come out of Egypt and receive the Torah?

M. Laitman: Because, after all, why are we even in Egypt in the first place? This is the quality that is opposite from connection between the friends and we must reveal just how opposite are we relative to the state we should be in. Then with the help of the force that's revealed between us we can come out of Egypt and get closer to one another.

Student: This force is love of friends?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (13:24) How does a person identify that he's wandering in the field, what is that state?

M. Laitman: He identifies this state by seeing that he lacks connection with the friends, the correct connection, a strong connection. This is a means for reaching a desire by which he can detect the crops, the path, and everything that’s ahead of him.

Student: Then, comes that character, that man that directs him? What is that character within the person?

M. Laitman: He's an angel.

Student: That will always appear during confusion?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: He awakens and directs and everything?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: Now, how, in practice, love of friends helps each one come out of this state of wandering in the field?

M. Laitman: When a person is searching for the goal, he feels that he's losing it. Then, when you're in prayer, how to find a complete man because he, himself, when he's on the path and he wishes to come closer to that image, then, he finds that man. What he's telling him is you have to go the way you are, the way you are, to advance toward the purpose of creation – the purpose of your life. There you'll find everything; when you accept it, you'll become a man.

Student: He says that they don't want to connect with you and that made them go into exile in Egypt. So, that person points to me not connecting to them or that they're not wanting to connect with me?

M. Laitman: It's both. You have to correct that also along the way.

Student: If a person is in the Ten but he still feels wandering, what is he doing wrong?

M. Laitman: A person is in the Ten, still feels that he's wandering the field but he’s lost. It means he hasn't found his place of adhesion in the Ten, his place of adhesion in the Creator. He also didn't find the means that will help him advance along the way, and also the goal that he has to, none of it is clear to him.

Student: What does he do in such a state?

M. Laitman: He needs these questions to continue on the path.

Student: If, seemingly, everything is clear to him but emotionally he can't make a step?

M. Laitman: Then it means it's not clear. All of our scrutinies are in the feeling.

Student: If he lacks the emotion?

M. Laitman: Then he needs to continue; the path that did not end, yet.

Student: How does a person awaken the right inner feeling?

M. Laitman: For him to know that he's drawn to a man in the field, he sees before him that image, that character, that he's attracted to. Then more and more it gets clearer to him that this character is pointing toward the connection with his friends and the connection with the owner of the field. And, ultimately, with the upper force who is truly the owner of the field.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (19:22) We've read, “and a man finds him wandering in the field and he asks him, what are you seeking”? The question is where do we see in the work that we're being asked? What are we seeking?

M. Laitman: With us, everything is inside a person. We need to seemingly divide ourselves into several characters. There's the character of the asking person, the character of the wandering in the field, the person who is meeting in the field, and so on and so forth. We need to see these things inside of us and begin to play with these characters like in a theater, and this way advance toward the goal. Because ultimately man's inner development goes through all these protagonists or heroes of the story and he comes to the only correct result.

Student: In our work, we go from one character to another in that state?

M. Laitman: Yes, we begin to reveal who are these characters and who is man responding to that – what is he made of — and the main thing is what is the Creator? A person discovers Him, then he cleaves to Him.

Question (W Latin 14): (21:56) Is the search for the brothers happening in every stage in the spiritual path or only in the beginning?

M. Laitman: On the right path, a person sees before him only one goal, that is to reveal all his friends, clearly. And they are faced with it, and then he connects with them, and the Creator helps.

Student: It's daily work, not only in the beginning?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (W PT 22): (22:52) Why don't the brothers want to connect to Joseph?

M. Laitman: Because, from the beginning, in Yosef there is a force that separates him from his brothers. That is why we need a few additional actions, here, in order to all identify the differences between them and between the brothers and then it works out – what we call the recognition of evil, where a person who is wandering, who is searching like Josef. He detects in his attitude toward the friends, how different they are from him, and how he can connect them, combine them, into, together, into one, into him.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (24:52) But what is exactly the sowing, reaping, and harvesting in the group?

M. Laitman: It's not written here. We'll learn about it.

Student: So, how do we look at what's written here?

M. Laitman: It's still not understood, it's not understood.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (25:24) I want to see if I understood: The field is a vessel; the crop is the crop I receive which is lighter than Sof. The plowing, sowing, and reaping, I can take it like Rosh, Toch, Sof, it's the work I always do, I can divide it however I want. The point in the heart, sorry, the man that comes to me is the point in the heart that awakens me, that asks questions. And towards the end it gets complicated for me, I know that only my friends help me but they left me; in their nature, they want to scatter. So, my question is do we, as friends, in our thoughts need to love outwardly and then we will love inwardly? Or we have to start from within, more or less?

M. Laitman: Beautiful questions, keep going and you'll attain the answer, we’ll attain the answers.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (27:09) He writes here that we need to enter a group who wants to reach love of friends. How should their relationship be where love of friends doesn't work out that well in the group?

M. Laitman: We need to read more of Baal Sulam's articles in order to understand that this is the goal we need to have before our eyes and it's not revealed openly and clearly to everyone, equally. There's no other choice, we need to see how we are advancing toward it, day by day.

Student: And what my attitude should be? Should I distance myself from these frictions in the Ten or should I get into them and I want to be in this circle of the love of friends, and it does not matter that these frictions exist?

M. Laitman: We need to come closer to the friends with whom you are connected, scrutinize together with them, what does it mean: A circle, a circle of connections, and continue the scrutiny, who are the forces that need to be revealed to you along the way?

Student: Who are the forces?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (29:10) The entrance – the descent to Egypt – is it a descent to a new connection and an opportunity for a new connection with the friends? Not, necessarily, a place that is unworthy and lowly?

M. Laitman: Any change we may detect or not, fail to detect, see, or fail to see, is a change in the state between us.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (29:52) It's clear that I need friends to reach the goal but the friends need me? When I was born, the friends were already in the land, essentially, and I'm still in Egypt, I need to choose the vessels. And they keep advancing and I keep dragging them from behind and the distance between us is increasing all the time.

M. Laitman: I don't think this is the case but we'll scrutinize it a bit more and you'll see that this is how it will be revealed toward each and every one, to what extent he's advancing toward the center of the Ten.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (31:26) When I read it, we're talking about love of friends but he says, those who sow in tears will reap in peace. He gives the headline of what is love of friends. When I always heard this, I thought, what does it mean, the field that's blessed by the Creator, those who sow in tears? On the other hand, we learned that if you don't do things joyfully, you're detached from the Creator. So, how can we link these things and why do I need to be in tears to do the work in the wisdom of Kabbalah? It's like I cry to get something. Why, why not joyfully, what's the root here?

M. Laitman: This is not exactly the desire that you reveal from birth. You reveal, and that, only the will to receive in you develops.

Student: You're saying that without tears, I can't advance?

M. Laitman: Without tears, you cannot advance.

Student: So, I need to cry to advance?

M. Laitman: No, but it's called this way. A person advances in his development only with the help of this force that arranges him, forcefully; that's how he grows.

Student: It reminds me of the song about the gate of tears, is it connected?

M. Laitman: Not yet, not yet.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (33:39) What is exile in Egypt?

M. Laitman: The exile in Egypt is the feeling of a person who wants to develop, he doesn't even know the exact direction. Then, he tries to scrutinize what's under the rule of certain forces that maintain him relative to certain things: Love of Israel, love of land, love of friends, meaning, everything that he feels toward this thing called Israel. It's clarified in him that he doesn't really want it, and together with that, what's clarified to him is the opposite force. And from the combination of these two forces, he begins to arrange himself in this field of forces. That's how he advances.

Student: He writes, here, that the fact that they moved away from the love of friends – that caused the exile in Egypt.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: That the reason for the exile is that a person begins to love himself or? I want to somehow connect that.

M. Laitman: The force grew in them, one that advances them toward opposition from the Creator. And by that, they will come closer to one another, they have a greater force of their ego so it'll be possible, already, to work with it.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (36:26) We read, a person is wandering in the field. What characterizes the wandering in the work. What is this wandering, this mistake, what is it in the work?

M. Laitman: That his error is that he sees he is not developing in the right direction.

Student: What kind of vision is this? What does it mean that he sees, what does he see?

M. Laitman: He sees that he's developing incorrectly.

Student: You need a lot of correct things to see what's incorrect.

M. Laitman: Okay, so?

Student: How do I know that I see correctly?

M. Laitman: You know only one thing: What you feel, what you are. And together with that, you come and you study from the Torah in what way you should be. So, finally you have two characters: Your character and the correct character. When you try to equalize them, you see that something is off. So, here, it says that you reveal yourself opposite from the Creator.

Student: Where the place for prayer begins, we can say?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: So, this is a very advanced stage, is that correct?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (38:48) What is to be mistaken with the mind when you know the real way is the friends. You work with your mind and you discover that you're wrong, there, what is this work?

M. Laitman: According to all the data, you see that even though you're developing, you're developing incorrectly. And here, you have a complaint to the Creator: Why is it so? And then, comes to you the method of development, you begin to see, to detect how you and your development – the correct path – they're not overlapping, they're not together. And from that, you begin to discover what should be your correct steps. And in this way you begin to reveal how to take the correct step forward. How to ask, who to ask from, how to assist this thing? And so on and so forth.

Student: What is this mind that gives us the real mind to demand the friends? There's something the Creator lets us understand in the mind, here, that it's incorrect. What is that point, Rav? That you understand, that you're coming here every day, that you do all the efforts, but you see that intellectually, it's not going to work. Where does this point come, where you understand that the understanding is emotional and not intellectual? How do you get to that point?

M. Laitman: The feeling should be, should match the mind, the intellect. Then the person reaches a state where he can rise above the feeling and work with the mind.

Student: Can we say there's this upper mind?

M. Laitman: Of course.

Student: So how do we acquire it, Rav, that only through love of friends we can reach the path that leads to the Creator? How does a person come to this discernment that that's the only way to get there?

M. Laitman: Love of friends is that power that a person acquires as he walks between the degrees. And he advances, he rises with their help.

Student: And going between the degrees is going from my mind to the upper mind?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: And there I'm always in this common prayer. I always receive more and more the feeling of the upper mind through the prayer?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (43:10) How does a person work with a state where he feels that the friends don't want to connect with him?

M. Laitman: They don't want to connect with him? In practice, he tries all kinds of chances in order to come closer to them in order to be good in their eyes. Maybe, more precisely, to show that he is positive toward them, and this way he enters among them and he works together with them.

Student: And if still, after he makes such positive actions towards them, he still feels like they don't have the same desire that he has?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: So, how does a person work with such a state?

M. Laitman: He must continue to work according to what's been clarified to him, and he has no choice, he must. Only by connecting with them he must enter the ladder to ascend from one state to the next.

Student: And that's, even though it's clear that the dependence between them is mutual and he depends on them, and if they won't be in a similar desire to his then connect with him, he won't be able to connect. He still has to do this unilateral work towards them even though he sees no response from them?

M. Laitman: It depends on the states they're in but in the beginning, of course, he thinks he should think only about his own state.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (45:56) What is love of friends? It's a good, great title, but what is it? What's love of friends?

M. Laitman: Love of friends is that force, the upper force that advances you toward the center of the group.

Student: Yes, the question is how do I get to love of friends, how do I get there? What, to hug him, kiss him, bring him coffee to the table? How will I, what's that point where I can really get to love of friends, what is that? It's something intangible. I'm also unable to love them at all?

M. Laitman: Love of friends is that feeling that you're willing to be connected with your friends in the way that you give them everything, everything you're capable of and beyond that. All in exchange for them to carry you, to take you with them together as they climb up the degrees.

Student: I remember you told me many years ago, you told me – we talked about my wife – and you said, what love, what are you talking about? I asked and you said, Tzvika, you need some war to have peace. I remember, many years ago, you used to tell me that, a lot – that you need the war in order to get to peace. And I ask myself, okay, I'm sitting here, I'm trying to understand how can I love this guy, this friend. He gives me coffee, he doesn't, do I like him, do I not? I can't get to the point where I truly love him because there's no attitude of war between us. There's no attitude of I hate him; I don't love him. And you always said, first get to a point where you discover that you can't stand him. I remember you talked about this point for years, and I don't know, I don't know how you can get to such a state where I can't stand my friend. I can't really get to a point where I don't stand him. He's so nice, so pleasant, and he serves me coffee, calls me when I'm down, and so on. And I can't get to a point where I don't stand him, so how can I get to love him?

M. Laitman: You need to think only about love.

Student: What is it, what is that?

M. Laitman: What is it when you are with him in one body and with all your might. All your strength, your nerves, your mind, your feelings, you do what he decides. You are cleaved to him with your feeling, with your intellect with everything he wants in order to advance, you are making this advancement.

Student: If you wait, do I need to love him?

M. Laitman: Then nothing will happen.

Student: It's like this thing where, I don't know, you have to build it?

M. Laitman: You’re not listening to me.

Student: You are saying but you are saying to build this love, how do I build it? How do I really build it, emotionally, not just with my mouth? Say, I love you, and then inside it's like this. So, it's this, I just don't know what is love of the friend.

M. Laitman: Are you done talking?

Student: Yes.

M. Laitman: Okay. Yes, you are saying it's something that has to become internal.

Student: Yes.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (51:00) He finishes the article saying that we want to be in love of friends, by that we will merit exodus from Egypt and receive the Torah. When a person is in Egypt, in this darkness, that's where he needs the light of Torah. He can't do anything; he discovers that he doesn't have anything.

M. Laitman: I don't hear exactly what you are talking about.

Student: He says they want to be in love of friends and by that we will merit to go from Egypt, to get out of Egypt. But Egypt is the greatest darkness a person is in and he feels he has nothing. That's where he needs the Torah, the light, he needs to reach something that will help him with the friends, I assume ultimately the friends are something internal within the person.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: And here he says that only after the exodus from Egypt he merits the Torah, itself, but the light in this Egypt, in this darkness, when a person is deep in there, there he needs the light of the Creator.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: But there is barely any clarity that the Creator does that. That He takes out of Egypt, that He brings the friend and goes in the field and dozens of times goes into Egypt. And where ultimately, where in this process, where is the Creator?

M. Laitman: The Creator is concealed. He is giving you signs on how not to escape the field and reach the goal.

Student: Like Tzvika said here, sometimes he says it jokingly, but he is looking for years for this point of love of friends and he does everything. He comes to the Ten and he can't seem to find this true love that will connect them and they also reject him and he doesn't know how to do anything with them. What does he do there? There needs to be some turning point, maybe not even in man's hands.

M. Laitman: True.

Question (Kyiv 1): (53:49) What does it mean that we reach the love of friends in the Ten so much that we can exit Egypt?

M. Laitman: The connection that we attain at the end of our development, thanks to which we can come out of Egypt, the evil inclination, this is our complete connection. Specifically, with it, thanks to it we can rise from the point of hate to the point of rejection from one another and we come out eventually from hate to love.

Student: Is this the result of our systematic work throughout the correction? Or there are some degrees here, intermediate degrees, that say can reach tomorrow, love of friends, or in a week, so that we can truly come out of Egypt? Or this is about the end of correction?

M. Laitman: We need, from the beginning of the path and throughout this entire time until the end of correction, we need to try to determine which forces are in opposition to the exodus from Egypt. And we have to ask for correction over those forces.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (56:10) Does a person need to continue in an action of connection towards the friends in the Ten even if in practice he sees that they don't keep the framework of the Ten and the rules of the Ten, the common framework?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: So, he's supposed to continue the same work on his part?

M. Laitman: Yes?

Student: Meaning what the friends go through, get closer, farther, stronger, weaker, he has no calculation like that?

M. Laitman: No, he's looking at them, but it's not influencing his direction, the process.

Student: Is a person allowed to judge the friends' deeds or not? I'm not even looking at it. I mean, I'm working internally and doing my work on my side and that's the main thing.

M. Laitman: And how do you erase the impression from them?

Student: It's a question, I guess I ignore it, I don't hear the friends correctly, or not. I take the friends' actions into account and I put it into my inner work.

M. Laitman: You need to hear the opinion of the friends because that opinion is certainly correct. And you might be wrong by seeing them right now as corrupted, but you hope that in the next, in the coming stages, you will correct your view of them. And they will see themselves in your eyes more correctly.

Student: That is if we have different opinions, but what if we have a framework? We have an importance to maintain a certain framework, certain conditions we determine between us. And I see a friend who doesn't meet the same criteria, the conditions we determine. So, I judge his actions as unjust, or on the contrary, I'm seeing the picture incorrectly and it's my problem, not his.

M. Laitman: We can always say that. This is the foundation, the heart of all the conflicts between the friends. What I recommend is that, in spite of that, everyone should go into reading Rabash's articles. And accordingly, to that come to understanding of the state of each and every group. And from that we will feel to what extent we are not yet able to understand the internality of our state.

Student: In what do I depend on the friends?

M. Laitman: You depend on the friends in everything because only relative to the friends, you arrange your attitude toward unity, exile, toward connection, love, hate, only relative to the friends. We almost never get stuck in the connection of a person, but rather to whom. Therefore, it's important for us how we relate each one relative to the group.

Student: But if the foundation of the wisdom of Kabbalah is perception of reality, I am the broken one who doesn't judge reality correctly, and the deeds of my friends. So, what exactly is the dependence here, it's the change of my perception. It has nothing to do with them. It has nothing to do with what they do or don't do. It's how I relate to their actions. So, what is my dependence on them?

M. Laitman: Your dependence on them is in how much they respond to you.

Student: How much they respond to me, and their response depends first on me? My attitude, first. So, who are the friends that I depend on?

M. Laitman: Anyone in your group. In your group, meaning that you're Ten. Let's say anyone here.

Student: Those who are with me here, I consider them a friend.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (01:03:20) The foundation of the dispute is two laws that seem to contradict: One judges through his own flaws, that's one. And two, that the judge has no more than his eyes to judge with. So, if we determined that we come to a lesson and someone didn't come. And I came, I see that he didn't come, that's an example, and one judges through his own flaws. So, how to reconcile this contradiction with respect to what cases? Because you can say about everything, one judges through his own flaws and how do you reconcile these two laws?

M. Laitman: I don't understand, give me a more practical example.

Student: Yes, let's say we determined that we come twice a week to a lesson. A friend didn't come, I came. Do I need to justify him because I'm judging through my own flaws. Maybe it seems to me that way or something.

M. Laitman: If your friend does not observe the laws of the society that you decided on, you have to take care of it. You have to arrange it, talk to him.

Student: Right, but it's possible that, well, one judges through his own flaws. Maybe I see it that way, maybe I see incorrectly.

M. Laitman: It doesn't matter.

Student: Maybe he has all kinds of reasons.

M. Laitman: We must scrutinize it.

Student: So, the answer is to scrutinize it?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (01:05:27) I want to clarify from the article. It says, it's Joseph, according to the story, as far as I understand. He tells him, I understand the right shape, the right form, how to advance. I look for connection because the path that rises to the Creator, this is called the path of bestowal. And he says there's no other advice - love of friends. He seems to understand it. And he tells him, they went away from it. They don't want to connect to you. Is that a correct stage where the person understands that his real Kli is connection with the friends, and that's the only way he can rise to spirituality, to adhesion with the Creator? And then he discovers that the Kli is still not ready, still not corrected. And is that a correct stage on the path?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: And then he feels he enters the exile first, when he understands that that connection is important, that without it, there's no adhesion. He first enters the exile and he also goes through a deep process within. When the friends come back, he's not angry at them.

M. Laitman: That's also correct, but what's next?

Student: So, I'm saying, we too are in such processes. We have such processes in the Ten.

M. Laitman: What's before us?

Student: Before us is to feel more urgency in this vessel called love of friends.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: And also, to not run away from the exile. To feel it really well, so that we'll have such a common cry.

M. Laitman: But what do we need for this cry?

Student: Joseph understood it. He wants to bring contentment to the Creator. It's also not natural. You have to scrutinize that we really want that.

M. Laitman: Contentment to the Creator, how do we do it?

Student: We talk about it. We read about it. Everyone tells the others from the point in his heart why he specifically wants that. Maybe also we can't speak about it. I'm not sure. Some things you can't discuss.

M. Laitman: That's not good, you can't talk. What exactly can't you talk about among the friends?

Student: Everyone, Rav, goes through this inner process and everyone is in a certain stage. You can also interfere with friends' scrutinies. Maybe they're not in it now. Maybe you're interfering with their scrutinies.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: How do we each make the scrutiny without interfering with the others? To support. And it's not always in words.

M. Laitman: There are two options here: Either you are as a righteous, who justifies everyone. Or you are wicked and you condemn His owner.

Student: And can't you transition between them?

M. Laitman: Yes, scrutinize it.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (01:10:16) The state where a person comes and his heart is broken because he's not in contact with his friends. And then the whole process continues, going into Egypt, it's all states in a person, right? So, is there some participation of himself in the process? Or it's a bunch of disturbance that just happens, and he just comes as much as he can to the group, keep the framework, that's what holds him, and by this you help each other. And just go through it and its disturbance that a person develops more and more sensitivity, awareness, and his new observation, that's it? Or is there another something?

M. Laitman: The disturbance that he is going through, with those he's impressed by the Ten, I'm deliberately saying the Ten and not some other name to avoid confusion. That's it. What was the question?

Student: A person's in the group, comes as much as possible, keeps the framework as much as possible, starts going through the sermons, the lessons, and he reaches a state that he feels that he can't be in contact with the friends. They distance themselves; there's a disturbance inside that he's distant from them. And even his heart is broken from it, he feels small, because it's probably not scrutinized enough. It's still the beginning of the path, like you said in the lesson. And like with the story of Joseph, there's a going into Egypt, it's a discernment in a person. So, I'm asking what's the addition that a person on his own behalf can do in this state? Or does he just come and adhere to the framework as much as he can, and he tries to be in some awareness, sensitivity and the rest just happens? Or is there another addition that each one can give? I don't know what kind. I'm just mistaken in the field, so I'm asking you.

M. Laitman: Okay, we need to scrutinize that. Along the way, there's no instant solution here.
