Reading: (01:21) One’s main work should be to enjoy while performing acts of bestowal. This is the meaning of what is written, “Serve the Lord with gladness” in order to have equivalence of form. Just as He enjoys when He bestows, as our sages said, “His desire to do good to His creations,” so man should achieve this degree.

This should be man’s entire reward, and this is called “bestowing in order to bestow” without any reward because he has no greater pleasure than this.

But once he is rewarded with this degree where all his pleasure is in bestowing upon the Creator, he sees and feels that he cannot give anything to the Creator that will please Him, other than to receive from Him the pleasures that He has prepared for His creations, which was the purpose of creation.

Question (Women Petah Tikva Center): (03:32) He says in the excerpt, that he needs to come to a state of bestowal in order to bestow without receiving any reward, but the pleasure is the reward. The pleasure from the bestowal is the reward. It's confusing.

M. Laitman: No, he doesn't work for the sake of receiving the pleasure. But

rather, because that is the commandment of the Creator, that's what he feels.

Student: So what does he work for?

M. Laitman: To give contentment to the Creator.

Student: And after that, he sees that he has nothing with which to give him contentment unless he receives the pleasures the Creator prepared for him?

M. Laitman: No, that's something else. It's just what it sounds like from the excerpt.

Student: So only after he attains that degree, he understands that?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (Women Petah Tikva Center): (04:49) Can you say that bestowal in order to bestow is complete annulment?

M. Laitman: Bestowal in order to bestow is annulment, but it's not complete.

M. Laitman: Still, he has something that illuminates him, and that's enough to perform actions, not for the sake of receiving a reward.

Student: Between a person of attainment, which is, we have examples that one knows, and a person who has the appreciation of the environment, it nevertheless gives some material, some fuel to act towards others? So, these are stages that are before.,, He's still doing it for the sake of enjoying for himself. It gives him honor, it gives him stature.

M. Laitman: No. We're talking about all kinds of intentions that a person has before he comes to the degree of bestowal in order to bestow. Meaning those are still stages of correction, but we are now speaking of a spiritual degree.

Student: Meaning he's not receiving any reward.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (08:44) We were talking about the same topic. The fact that a person performs actions in order to receive honor from the society is clear. I want to ask about a person who does all kinds of actions, let's say internal actions, thinks about the friends, prays for them, even does for their sake all kinds of actions. Where's the distinguishing factor between bestowing in order to receive and bestowing in order to bestow? How can a person examine whether he's doing it out of pride or from bestowal?

M. Laitman: He checks it himself. No one else can tell him.

M. Laitman: But no one knows.

M. Laitman: They shouldn't know. He rather by working in bestowing in order to bestow, feels the fuel the Creator is giving him, or otherwise he wouldn't be able to do anything.

Student: He feels fuel from the Creator in this?

M. Laitman: Certainly.

Student: And that's the joy that Rabash writes about?

M. Laitman: That's the ability to carry out an action of bestowing in order to bestow.

Question (Women Petah Tikva Center): (10:35) According to what I understood, he's in a state of to bestow in order to bestow, and it gives him joy because he serves the King and he's happy of that state. And then at a certain stage, he comes to the understanding that in order to bring him contentment, he actually needs to receive in order to bestow. How is that transition made? How does he move, or how does he come to the understanding, because he's happy to bestow in order to bestow. That state's good for him.

M. Laitman: If it's good for him, then it's not a spiritual action at all.

Student: But he's happy.

M. Laitman: About what?

Student: From delighting the King.

M. Laitman: Let's say, yes.

Student: And then at a certain stage, he decides that he wants to receive in order to bestow. So, what happens in between? How does he come to that new state? What causes him to decide that where he is now is not enough, and he wants beyond? Where is that transitional point? What happens there?

M. Laitman: What happens is that he understands that what's ahead of him, what's before him is that to work with the pleasure is a higher degree, and then he goes to receiving in order to bestow.

Student: And how does he come to that understanding? You mean receiving this additional desire?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: From the Creator?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (Women Petah Tikva Center): (12:34) I heard you saying to another student now that the Creator gives fuel for a person to come to bestow in order to bestow and to annul himself. What's the fuel that he receives from the Creator?

M. Laitman: Faith and confidence.

Student: And how do you reach faith and confidence? How does he give that to him? What does a person feel?

M. Laitman: A person feels that he has the ability to perform actions that even his will to receive is not participating in.

Student: I understand you can say that it's like a baby who feels confidence with his mother, then he nullifies himself?

M. Laitman: Let's say.

Student: So as long as we don't reach that confidence and faith, then you can't actually reach to bestow in order to bestow, and you can't annul ourselves. So we need to acquire faith and confidence. And how do we acquire it? Through the environment? Through direct contact with him? How do we do it? They need to give me confidence in the Creator and faith above reason?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (Women Petah Tikva Center): (14:17) Is to bestow in order to bestow an intermediate state?

M. Laitman: We can say.

Student: And there are two actions from bestow in order to bestow. We can reach that, or we can fall to bestow in order to receive. So, it could look a little scary, but we're supposed to delight in it. So, I'm supposed to look at those two results with the same eyes? Meaning, with joy. That confidence and faith that you said is the faith that I will reach from this to bestow in order to bestow, and the confidence that if I will fall to bestow in order to receive, that at least I learned or discovered the wicked along the way, meaning it's supposed to be an intermediary stage where I have to come there and be happy. Did I mean it?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (Women Petah Tikva Center): (15:23) If I understand this, it talks about a person who was already in bestowal. I want to ask about a moment before we get there. We learned that the wickedness is that a person’s first step has to stop receiving pleasure in order to even come close to something called bestowal. When you start thinking about it, you notice that you're all the time, even if it's so subconscious, even scenes you enjoy, thoughts you enjoy, and it's as if there's nothing, no hook to hold on to, or you say, oh, I made one step towards that. On the contrary, you see, it's so immense that I don't know where to even start. How does a kabbalist make his first step in the restriction of not wanting to receive, really not wanting to receive pleasure? He's capable of saying to the Creator, I don't want to receive it? How?

M. Laitman: To be in a state of to bestow in order to bestow is more precious, more valuable than all receptions.

Student: What does this carnivore of a nature doing to us that it's so important that it says the Creator is more precious? Who's the Creator? I don't know him.

Who is it?

M. Laitman: Right, but through exercises we come to a state where we have the beginning of pleasure, pleasure in thinking and doing for the sake of the Creator, something. Then a person does all kinds of actions by which he expands bestowal to the Creator.

Student: If I were now given the feeling that I'm doing something for the sake of the Creator, and I knew it was the truth and not imaginary, I would enjoy it the most.

M. Laitman: How do you know?

Student: It's the greatest thing, there's a line, there's something above all this nonsense that we're engaging in. It seems like it's the greatest pleasure if I could just be in that. Then again, I would enjoy it for my ego.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: So how do you make one step that's disconnected from the ego?

M. Laitman: That's already Lishma.

Student: So, the way you see us, you said it's through exercises we can start reaching that state. What exercise can I do now, even every second I remember, that I will come closer to...

M. Laitman: To think about each friend in such a way that you want to give to them without any return.

Student: What can I give them?

M. Laitman: Something, whatever they want. Something that you're willing to do, whatever they want.

Student: Physically really do it, or ask the Creator to come and fill them all day and give them the good?

M. Laitman: Both physically, and also with such a prayer.

Question (Women Petah Tikva Center): (19:44) When there's no strength to do it, and we want to do it, we get the forces and the confidence and faith. Can that come together with the closing of the heart? I get the strength to think about the friends, I receive the justness of our path, but with that the heart closes. Is that possible?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: Why?

M. Laitman: To give you the ability to exert and to pray.

Student: For what?

M. Laitman: To receive additional forces from above.

Student: The force from above to begin with is in order for me to have the strength to give. The closing of the heart is actually preventing the pleasure from me giving. So, what am I praying for?

M. Laitman: To have the ability to connect with your friends with a desire and a thought to help them, to give them.

Student: More than at the moment?

M. Laitman: Certainly.

Question (Women MAK): (21:46) In what way can we attain what's written in the article, for him to have pleasure while engaging in acts of bestowal.

M. Laitman: If a person in that state is connected to the Creator and is thinking of acts of bestowal, then he receives pleasure from it.

Question (Women MAK): (22:48) How does love and support of the society help the whole world Kli to reach a degree of bestowal in order to bestow in the upcoming convention and what form of support is needed?

M. Laitman: We have such a group here?

Student: The ideological group, the students in it. How by us supporting them can it help us reach the degree of bestowal in order to bestow in the upcoming convention and how do we need to support them?

M. Laitman: We need to hold on to them, to lift them, and then they will support you.

Question (Women Petah Tikva Center): (23:56) How does such a convention appear of the bestowal in order to bestow? I'm trying, in even the lowest degrees that I'm in, to try to understand what to prepare for. How does the convention of bestowal in order to bestow is where the Creator is in the middle?

M. Laitman: Where each one thinks of everyone, and he is willing to participate in bestowing the good to everyone.

Student: What does good bestowal mean? Bestowal is good, but what is good bestowal?

M. Laitman: Good bestowal or bestowing good means to participate with forces, with prayer, in all the actions of bestowal.

Student: Administratively, how can you prepare for such a convention now? How do I do something else just like I prepared for the rest of the conventions I've been to in my life? How do I prepare differently? Because it's different. And I don't have that vessel yet. I'm coming to receive it there? Do I want to receive it?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: And I prepare for it from now, in registration and a role in starting to do something with my hands and feet?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (Women Petah Tikva Center): (25:56) If to delight the Creator is to receive from Him, and I need to reach a state of to do good to His creations in order to reach equivalence of form, it turns out that I need to receive from the created beings in order to do good to them?

M. Laitman: You got confused about something?

Student: I need to be in equivalence of form with Him? How do I do that?

M. Laitman: That He derives pleasure from fulfilling us, and each one of us should come to a state where he also derives pleasure from fulfilling others.

Student: Could it be that we can actually delight the created beings by receiving from them?

M. Laitman: To give pleasure to the created beings by receiving from them, we are not able to do it.

Student: We, after all, receive from one another, and I enjoy when I see that a person is nullifying and makes a concession, and that way I can also enjoy from concessions, that our pleasure is not only in giving to one another, but also in receiving from one another.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (Women Petah Tikva Center): (28:06) What do we bestow to the Creator? Meaning, to bestow in order to bestow. What can I bestow to the Creator?

M. Laitman: To bestow to the Creator is a desire to receive the force of bestowal from Him.

Student: So that's actually to receive in order to bestow.

M. Laitman: That's actually to receive in order to bestow, yes.

Student: I don't grasp what it is to bestow in order to bestow. What do I bestow to Him, my desire to receive from Him?

M. Laitman: You open up your desire, and you're ready. You're willing to receive from Him the force of bestowal.

Question (Women Petah Tikva Center): (29:18) He ends with: “But once he is rewarded with this degree where all his pleasure is in bestowing upon the Creator, he sees and feels that he cannot give anything to the Creator that will please Him, other than to receive from Him the pleasures that He has prepared for His creations, which was the purpose of creation.” So it seems like there's a real focus on this transition between the two degrees:

to bestow in order to bestow, to receive in order to bestow. I understand that the desire to receive is what was created, and we don't nullify it. We’re above In order to bestow. The question is whether in this state of to bestow in order to bestow, what we receive from the Creator is the change of the nature of in order to receive, where seemingly by being able to bestow above it, the light comes, corrects the desire to receive, and then it can, with its quality, to also bestow.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (Women Petah Tikva Center): (30:35) You said a person feels that he has the ability to perform actions that even his desire to receive does not participate in. If the desire to receive simply doesn't want to steal something from this, or does a person feel the desire to receive living, but he manages to silence that desire to receive?

M. Laitman: Also. Both ways.

Student: And you said that the exercise is to try to give to the friend without trying to receive. But I don't feel like the desire to receive enables us. It simply manages to steal something. So, the question is whether I'm supposed to ask for, or to expect the force of not feeling Him, or to silence him. How do I deal with this example?

M. Laitman: You need to receive something in return. Otherwise, you won't be able to do it.

Student: So, try to make what I'm receiving be more a connection with the Creator, and less something in my will to receive?

M. Laitman: Let's say.

Student: What's more precise, how to act?

M. Laitman: To have more connection with the Creator.

Question (Women Petah Tikva Center): (32:06) The Creator is the force of bestowal, meaning the only thing He can give us is the force to bestowal?

M. Laitman: The fact that He can give is His business, but He is, in essence, the force of bestowal.

Student: The greatest thing we can ask from Him is the force to bestow, to be like Him?

M. Laitman: It's not good that you're limiting the Creator.

Student: I’m making Him greater.

M. Laitman: That you can receive bestowal from Him, but reception, no.

Student: Why not? I'm not sure.

Student: To bestow in order to bestow, the only thing I'm using is the force of bestowal that's given to me by the Creator. I don't use anything. I don't use my desire. He gives me the same situation. My desire suffers. A decision was made against my opinion. I'm going like this, the way the body resists. I nullify and accept. But in a situation like this, there's an understanding that the only thing that allows me to do this action, even though my whole body resists, is the power that was given to me by the Creator unless something is revealed that I didn't see. So, the greatest thing I can be given is, in my eyes at least, is the force of bestowal. And then when we move from that state to the next one, even in receiving in order to bestow, still the greatest thing I can receive is the force of bestowal. So, what's the difference between the state of to bestow in order to bestow and the state of to receive in order to bestow, if the greatest thing is the force of bestowal?

M. Laitman: Maybe I wasn't clear. Why do you think that to bestow in order to bestow is a small force?

Student: It's not small, but you can't remain there. It's like the second phase where we can't remain, because the desire to receive needs to receive something. The question is what? If in the state of bestowing in order to bestow, there's the understanding that the greatest thing is the force to bestow, then you can ask beyond that to move to a state of to receive in order to bestow, because then I still remain with the recognition that the force of bestowal is the greatest thing.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: It's not small, it's just impossible for it to remain in the air. There's nothing to grip onto in that state of to bestow in order to bestow. Maybe that's this detaining or this blocking. So, I have to receive something. In all these rises and descents, you get an awareness of the wicked, of the desire to receive, but you need to receive something else. Maybe it's some awareness that the force of bestowal, this force of resistance to the desire to receive, is the greatest thing that we can ask.

M. Laitman: Okay. I'm listening.

Question (MAK 11): (36:18) There are friends that are, let's say, twenty years on the path. I'm a little more than a year on the path, and you're saying that we will reach the degree of to bestow in order to bestow. I don't have their experience, I don't have the feeling of those friends that are for so long on this path. M. Laitman: You need to place yourself among the people who study, who yearn for this goal, and then you'll feel this flow that will catch you and carry you forward.

Question (Women Turkiye 7): (37:38) Earlier I thought that all my desires are acts of bestowal with the intention to bestow to the Creator. I thought I had something I could give to the Creator, but according to what we just read, a person can't bestow anything that will

truly give him contentment. How do we see, in such a state, that the Creator is good, that does good?

M. Laitman: We reveal the good who does good in the second half of the work. Now, for the time being, what we can do is to let the Creator bestow onto us or influence us.

Question (Women Spain): (39:00) Is it right to feel fear and spiritual fear that I might not do it correctly in the process of bestowal? Is it correct to feel fear and anxiety on the process of bestowal? Is it right to feel that fear?

M. Laitman: Yes, of course.

Question (Hadera 1): (39:58) On the first degree, a person discovers that his desire to receive is the one that's bad, and then he asks the Creator to free him from the will to receive with Hassidim. Then he reaches the first degree, which is not spiritual, because the request is for his desire to receive, for him not to suffer. Is that correct?

M. Laitman: No.

Student: Do you mean It's already spiritual?

M. Laitman: There has to be a spiritual degree. We need to reach it.

Student: So, in this degree, he discovers fear already, and there are three degrees in it. The first of which is to worry about this world. The next is in the next world. And the third, he already discovers that he has nothing to bestow to the Creator, and then the third fear, which is even more spiritual, appears. Is that correct?

M. Laitman: No.

Student: Can you correct me?

M. Laitman: I don't want to correct you. We're not learning it this way.

Question (Hadera 1): (41:21) The excerpt we read talks about two states. The first stage, a person sees that he has no fuel to bestow whatsoever. The form of his desire is opposite. So, he turns to the Creator and prays, and the Creator gives him the possibility to change his form of his desire, and he feels what bestowal is. You can say that in that stage, that's his field of work, the friends, the environment, and the means is the Creator that gives him what he wants. In this last paragraph of what we read, he discovers that he's not giving anything to the Creator, that that's not his purpose, that he wants to give the Creator something, and he can't. And then, he understands that he's the one who's receiving from the Creator, and if he wants to delight the Creator, he must receive from Him because he has nothing else to do. And then the state will invert, in which his goal is to give to the Creator and the environment, the friends, are the means by which, through receiving from

them, seemingly, he sees only them, and he can receive from them in order to bestow to the Creator, meaning, the purpose for the Creator and the means, the friends.

M. Laitman: Yes, yes. We heard.

Article No. 223, "Entry into the Work"

Reading Excerpt # 2: "Lo Lishma" because his intention is only to obtain a greater pleasure.

Reading: (43:14) Only after he achieves this degree called Lo Lishma, he is rewarded with other phenomena, when he comes to a higher state. That is, at that time he has no consideration of himself, and all his calculations and thoughts are the truth.

In other words, his aim is only to annul himself before the true reality, where he feels that he must only serve the King because he feels the exaltedness and greatness and importance of the King. At that time, he forgets, meaning he has no need to worry about himself, as his own self is annulled as a candle before a torch before the existence of the Creator that he feels. Then he is in a state of Lishma [for Her sake], meaning contentment to the Creator, and his concerns and yearnings are only about how he can delight the Creator, while his own existence, meaning the will to receive, does not merit a name whatsoever. Then he is regarded as “bestowing in order to bestow.”

Question (Women Petah Tikva Center): (45:26) I once heard that to bestow in order to bestow is like a naked person in the forest that has nothing and doesn't want anything.

M. Laitman: Let's say.

Student: If it's so, this means he restricts himself like burying his ego in the ground. Is this considered that he made a screen, meaning, this is the stage where he makes a screen, a restriction? And then, in receiving in order to bestow, it's actually the revival of the dead, meaning, his ego?

M. Laitman: I don't know. These are degrees that we'll learn later.

Student: I simply want to understand the differences between them. That's why I'm asking.

M. Laitman: It's still too early.

Question (Women Petah Tikva Center): (46:20) In the morning lesson, you said that Dvekut, adhesion, is where my Kli is adapted to the Kli of the friend, and then, we are in adhesion. What form of first initial adhesion that we, as your students, need to come to in the convention, or before the convention, what do we need to yearn for?

M. Laitman: We need to yearn to come to one heart.

Student: What does it mean as one heart? Each feels the other? Like that?

M. Laitman: Each one feels the other.

Student: What does each have to devote to each other?

M. Laitman: Each one is ready to help the others reach it.

Student: And this means that…

M. Laitman: That's it.

Question (Women Petah Tikva Center): (47:33) I heard advice from you that we need to think about every friend, that I want to give them without reward, for that to bring us closer to a bestow in order to bestow. So, my question has to do with the reward. If I perform actions in order to give an example to friends, I ask for them what they need. We raise a prayer together for them. We meet in order to raise a deficiency for a friend. Do I need for there not to be any reward or all these actions?

M. Laitman: It's recommended. We can't say to what extent. We don't feel this degree to bestow yet.

Student: And if behind these actions I have these desires for the Creator to give me His quality, is that a negative quality that I have to get rid of?

M. Laitman: No. Those are the qualities of bestowal.

Student: So, there's negative reward and there's purposeful reward that we need. What's the negative reward that maybe I don't even discern that it exists in me?

M. Laitman: Negative reward is something that stems especially from envy.

Student: I didn't understand. How can you perform actions for the friends and envy? I didn't understand the connection.

M. Laitman: You can perform any action that you need to be between the friends, between you and the friends or between the friends.

Student: Another question. How, in all our actions, do we focus on the positive reward which is actually to come closer and to resemble and equalize with the Creator. How can we help one another focus on that reward?

M. Laitman: Just to be together in the group, to participate by sitting in a circle and to hear from everyone their discernments, and to be incorporated with those discernments.

Student: And if we just yearn for it, is that considered to bestow in order to bestow?

M. Laitman: Not yet. Yearning alone is nothing.

Student: We need to acquire the qualities of the Creator, the equivalence with Him, and that will be considered to bestow in order to bestow?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: What's to receive in order to bestow? It sounds like we're acquiring these qualities. So, why is that to bestow in order to bestow and not to receive in order to bestow?

M. Laitman: To bestow in order to bestow, you are using only the force of bestow, and to receive in order to bestow, you are using already the force of reception.

Student: Why is that matter never understood? It drives me crazy.

M. Laitman: We didn't get to it. You are like everyone.

Student: It's not even the end, the tip of the rope that differentiates, or something.

M. Laitman: You'll receive it in good time. You're not falling behind.

And, actually, the next degree of receiving in order to bestow is the degree of bestowal, meaning that it's another degree which is a preparation for the degree of bestowal correct?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: So on that degree actually, my work with the friends and all together with the society is to come and create this common desire, all of us together, to create this big Kli which can raise the prayer that will receive an answer?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (Women Petah Tikva Center): (54:29) Sometimes when a person needs to perform an act of bestowal and feels that he's not capable, it doesn't attract him or anything, and then sometimes I do this trick where I promise myself something for my desire to receive. It's like, if there's no force to come to the meeting, but if you come to the

meeting, you'll receive tasty coffee or come to something you don't want to do, and then I'll buy you an ice cream. Then during that, we bring the body and get incorporated and everything. Are these tricks ok or is it diverting a person and it's dangerous?

M. Laitman: If you see that in this way you can sway your body toward a concentrated action with other women then, why not? Let it be this way

M. Laitman: Let's say there's no innovation. Read all these excerpts, and then you'll see what's the order, what's the power and everything, and then tell us.

Question (Women Petah Tikva Center): (58:07) How can you come to a strong desire to advance the friends to bestow?

M. Laitman: Pray for them.

Student: To pray is already a strong desire.

M. Laitman: I wasn't talking about the second restriction or any other bestowing in order to bestow.

Student: So, even if I don't see results in practice?

M. Laitman: It means nothing.

Question (Women Petah Tikva Center): (1:02:04) Earlier you told one of the friends you can't ask for a connection with the Creator without any reward. But it seems, nevertheless, that this point also to receive light and connection is a reward. How do we really ask without reward? Is it possible?

M. Laitman: The mind, the intellect, and the power to bestow to is what I want to receive from the Creator. And That's it.
