Part 1: Rabash. Article No. 32, 1986. The Reason for Straightening the Legs and Covering the Head During the Prayer.
Reading Article: (00:46) “It is written in the..”
1. Rav intro: (42:50) This is clear right? Excellent. We need to reach the degree of faith so it will cover everything. There are no questions? In that case, okay, we do.
2. S. (43:24) Impression is it fills one with confidence that Rabash is going through all these states and he's showing us like in the jungle here's his order. It's amazing each time. What does it mean that we should not look at the Shechina?
R. Because the revelation of the Shechina is precisely in order for one to cover himself and not see it, this is why this is the condition.
S. On the one hand, it says that one needs strong faith to know eternity when standing before the Shechina to truly see it. On the other hand, he should not see. What are those two sides?
R. To see with faith is called to see in the light of faith.
S. To see with the light of faith, what is forbidden or forbidden means impossible or what?
R. When a person reaches such vessels of bestowal that they come and replace his vessels of reception.
S. Then what does it mean to cover ones’ eyes?
R. That he doesn't need to receive any light from the Creator but rather he says that I'm going to remain this way.
S. Why, because if he receives he's going to receive the faith?
R. Yes.
S. He's protecting the faith by covering the eyes and he keeps the faith strong?
R. Yes, this means that all of man's work is to reach a state where he can live in the light of Hassadim of faith and not in the light of Hochma.
S. Forbidden here is a kind of limitation a person has to?
R. Yes.
3. S. (46:04) When he writes in the end that the faith that a person has, has to be as though he is seeing everything, as though he is seeing the Shechina exactly. It's a state where he should feel emptiness on one hand, and on the other hand feels there's a Creator, complete faith as if he is receiving?
R. Yes.
S. How do we come to such a state where you're empty and on the other hand you believe in you and it's exactly?
R. Because the light of faith fills you, the light of faith fills you.
S. It starts with states because to reach a state of emptiness and feel the Shechina fully seems not simple to attain. How do you advance toward that? How do we follow such a path?
R. When we don't want a filling but rather, what we want is only bestowal.
S. He spoke at the beginning of the article that we need to start with small corporeal matters. Do you have to start with that?
R. Yes.
4. S. (47:45) If a person comes to the degree of faith as if he's seeing the Shechina, what's the problem to see it, they are in equivalence. He is on that level. What do you have to cover his eyes if he's in the correct state?
R. I didn't understand it, he makes a restriction over his vessels of reception. So in these vessels the light of faith is not revealed, I mean the light of Hochma but rather what is revealed is only the light of Hassadim and the person says that he doesn't need any more. This for him, is as though he would receive the light of Hochma in his entire vessel.
S. If he needs nothing more why does he have to cover his eyes if he needs nothing?
R. This is the action that with this action he says that I do not need the light of Hochma that will be revealed now but rather, I hide myself and instead of it I want to receive the light of faith, the light of Hassadim.
S. What is the light of faith?
R. The light of Bina.
S. What does it mean, seemingly paralyzing the desire for fulfillment?
R. No, he can't do it with the desire, the Creator is the boss of the desire but rather the person wants to say that he doesn't need, he doesn't need the feeling because he is satisfied he has a complete feeling that he is in bestowal.
S. If the work of man is only to come and live in the rich life of the light of Hassadim, when does a person begin to live in the light of Hochma? If you are satisfied with the light of Hassadim, where is the connection to Hochma?
R. He doesn't feel that he settles for it, that he restricts himself and is satisfied with that only he doesn't feel it that way but rather he reaches such a feeling, such a state because in such a way he understands that he is most similar to the Creator.
S. In the state where he is satisfied with little, he's not truly satisfied with the state?
R. Well the question is to what extent does he feel that it is so.
S. I still don't get it. If the light of faith or the light of Hassadim is enough then why is he lacking anything else?
R. Because his vessels in and of themselves are vessels of reception.
5. S. (51:29) Can we say that reflected light is when he returns the direct light? What is the vessel he makes of himself that that direct light then returns to the Creator? In that he's hiding you have Kabbalah and the reflected light, the light of faith is what Rabash talked about. Meaning reflected light is a reflection of direct light from this side of the vessel?
R. Yes.
6. S. (52:35) Maybe the friend answered but he writes the main thing a person has to try and his work is to be rewarded in faith, meaning to feel that there's a reality of the Creator, that the Creator exists. It doesn't contradict meaning if I feel that the Creator exists doesn't it cancel my faith?
R. It depends on how you feel Him.
S. That's the question, what's the difference between wanting to be in faith and believing that the Creator exists?
R. Faith also is light, it's light you see and so it's not that in the light of faith you don't feel anything, you don't need anything. It's not some kind of Illumination of above that cancels all of your vessels but rather you have vessels and you want to feel in them the presence of the Creator.
S. My words disappeared.
R. Okay, so you maybe will have another time.
S. The stages before you reach the deficiency, he writes a few things there a few steps. Page 360 column 2 above, about the deficiency you should have made several discernments in order to be fit for fulfillment when praying to the Creator. First, he has what he needs but does not feel its absence. The second one is that he feels his deficiency and he begins to try to obtain it but after some time of making efforts, he sees that he cannot attain it and then he reaches despair and then laziness takes over. Finally in the third stage where he feels the deficiency. So as Rabash writes, he has to go through all these stages? He's cautioning from us from getting into laziness or I have to get into laziness. I can't avoid that, that throws me into despair, that throws me to laziness?
R. Even though you enter you enter not according to a prayer but this is how the Creator arranges these things.
S. So I have to go there?
R. Yes.
7. S. (55:49) A person wants only the deficiency and not the fulfillment that's the state, right? Along the way, when we come to such a state it is work in the Ten, what does he want from the state from the friends? He only wants sufficiency for them or He wants fulfillment for them?
R. He uses their vessels. How does He use them, what is he going to obtain?
S. That’s why it's hard to understand. I can understand it on myself for the future, not that I feel it but I can understand it to some extent. I yearn to reach a state where I will only have a deficiency. I will not receive a fulfillment that I will not be like the quality of bestowal. That's about me, but what do I have to ask for the friends along the way? I want them to have the same thing or I want them to have the whole deficiency or else the fulfillment?
R. That they'll have all of the filling.
8. S. (57:08) He writes the main thing a person has to try in his work is to be rewarded by the quality of faith, meaning to feel that the Creator exists. This action called trying to be rewarded with faith, what should a person try to do, strive to do?
R. With which vessels does he feel the existence of the Creator.
S. Now he feels the existence of the Creator between what disturbs his will to receive and what he knows that shouldn't be this way. That existence of the Creator is the opposite of the vessels of reception to feel the existence of the Creator so what should he try here, strive for?
R. The effort is that if you have your inherent will to receive and you make a restriction over it and you raise yourself to the degree of bestowal and in this way according to the reflected light that you activate, you're going to activate it towards the Creator.
S. When we say restriction and the will to receive is it something a person can do directly or is that a person processes that happens through the reforming light? Can I do it?
R. A person is not capable of performing at the restriction or anything else that should be clear. This is only by the Creator's attitude towards him.
S. He speaks here of corporeal pleasures, do they prevent one from reaching faith?
R. In principle they don't. They only depend on how a person relates to them.
S. What should be the attitude toward that?
R. Well, it should be only with a clear question of why should I use them.
S. Meaning, how did they serve that goal?
R. That goal.
S. He gives a beautiful answer here. If his friend will come to him and asks what he's lacking in anything and he answers, believe me that I'm in a state where I lack nothing. He even tells him that it's bothering me that all the good that I feel in life is a rest from all the concerns, that is what the friend answers. He gives an example and doesn't make a recommendation. What do you ask from such a friend?
R. He answers his friend and says, I don't care about what you're going to tell me but rather don't bother me, let me enjoy my situation.
S. Right, when the friend says that if I'm standing before this friend and also before myself what do you answer to that? When a friend says, everything is good, I have everything I just want to rest what do I tell him?
R. There is a goal. There is a very high goal and it's worthwhile for us to discover it because ultimately it will always stand before us.
S. Meaning our job is to remind the friends?
R. Yes.
9. S. (01:01:41) Along with the scrutiny of the friend, he writes in that state the Creator does not answer the prayer of a person. He says later he comes to the third phase and he says you have to ask for the building of the world. What does this mean?
R. The building of the world is a general correction of the Shechina.
S. How in that state where he only wants to be left alone can he see or want the general correction?
R. It is indeed an extreme state.
S. As we said almost everyone goes through that state, just leave me alone. I don't want anything, it's like a dead zone, a dead person?
R. Yes.
S. Where does he find the power to ask?
R. He asks for these forces specifically in the state where he doesn't have any connection with such forces, he asks to have them.
S. To have the strength? What kind of strength, forces?
R. For at least for something so that he can start with that.
S. Start what? To have a deficiency for bestowal?
R. Yes, even a small light of Hassadim that's what he wants.
S. After that he just wants to stay adhered to the light of Hassadim and stay there?
R. No, later on, it's according to his situation.
S. That the Creator will advance him according to the state?
R. Yes.
10. S. (01:03:26) He writes, the Shechina in the dust and he writes that when he feels his reality is canceled and he knows that Shechina is in the dust, then he can pray and do good deeds so that the Creator will lift the Shechina from the dust? What are the good deeds that he discovers when he sees that he has no energy to advance?
R. Annul with all of his forces this is what he can want.
S. Good deed sounds like something that's after the annulment?
R. Yes.
S. What are those good deeds he can do towards the friends when he has no ability, he feels that he has no ability to do anything?
R. Prayer.
S. A prayer is a good deed?
R. It is a deed.
S. It's a deed and if he prays that the Shechina will be corrected or that he will be corrected? That the Shechina will be corrected or that the person will be corrected?
R. Where does he see a flaw in himself or in the Shechina?
S. He feels Divinity in the dust.
R. He feels that it is him?
S. It's him, it's no power to lift her.
R. So what is the question?
S. Where to get the power when that enemy whose reality is canceled and he has no power and he just needs to lift his head and hold it up and do something?
R. Adhesion, annulment.
S. Adhesion that he wants to be like the Creator?
R. Yes.
S. That he bestows without any will to receive for himself?
R. Yes.
S. Let's say generally speaking, the Shechina needs to be corrected or the person needs to be corrected?
R. The person is a part of the Shechina.
11. S. (01:06:07) What does it mean to be rewarded with life?
R. To be rewarded with life it means to see the Shechina receiving all of the lights of the Creator and reaching Him with a complete congruence for an eternal Zivug, coupling.
S. The friend asked here, I actually am asking to fill the friend's deficiencies. What is the meaning of life wanting to want the land of life? I have to enjoy this pleasure by bestowing to the friend by asking about the friend's deficiencies?
R. Yes.
12. S. (01:07:10) What is the difference in reality between having the light of Hassadim and having the light of Hochma?
R. It's wholeness, either from the filling or from the intention.
S. Why do we lack the light of Hassadim? What are we missing in reality that we need the light of Hassadim?
R. The light of Hassadim is light that shines to the vessel and gives it the feeling of wholeness when it is empty.
S. What's actually lacking in reality? Why specifically Hassadim are missing?
R. Why Hassadim are missing? What's missing in our reality is the adhesion of the vessel with the Creator.
S. How do you get fulfillment and how does the vessel fulfill if it's always empty?
R. It's not always empty if in the present state, he wants to be in adhesion with the Creator then this actually is what he should receive is the light of Hassadim.
S. He writes that in order to have faith, he needs to have the greatness of the king before him, but as soon as he has the greatest of the king, he annuls as a candle before a torch. How can faith grow where we have Gadlut smallness?
R. This is it exactly this light that fills him. The light of Hassadim.
S. The light of Hassadim what does it allow you to do? What does it do in a person so on the one hand it stays in adhesion and on the other side, on the other hand, it stays empty. What does it do for him?
R. The light of Hassadim appears in the vessel, and fills all of the spaces in it so that actually from them the person yearns for adhesion.
13. S. (01:10:08) Following what the friend asked, on page 361 third paragraph he says about the third deficiency, he says it's true deficiency. Only this discernment is his prayer called prayer because he demands fulfillment so the world can be corrected which is the ability to receive the purpose of creation, which is to do good to his creations and the belief that all the concealments and restrictions that exists In the world is because we haven't the proper tools fit for the abundance of godliness, which is the vessel of bestowal. On one hand, why does he ask for fulfillment?
R. He asks for vessels of bestowal.
S. But he wants the purpose of creation, it's not for himself? I guess.
R. Go on.
S. Meaning, there's a question here, before that he writes that he has a deficiency where he wants to reach spirituality and he writes in any case he's suffering due to his lack that he wants to be rewarded with spiritual life. So the solution to get to it is that he needs to yearn for a fulfillment which is the purpose of creation to correct the world. But he has to be satisfied with faith which is the light of Hassadim as he explained. So how if we want fulfillment not even from myself, I want the purpose of creation to be revealed in the world and to have the end of correction but I don't want it for myself but let it passes through me?
R. Yes.
S. How can we as he writes shut her eyes and not be in it at all?
R. How can we pass light to the whole world and not to oneself.
S. But we're part of the collective, no?
R. Yes, it's a question. Theoretically, it's possible but this is on the condition that a person is capable of filling himself with the light of Hassadim. So it's as if he doesn't reach the purpose of creation, the light of Hochma.
S. In practice it's a constant process of ascents and descents, you can't just stand there motionless?
R. Yes, here there is a question. Whether in the end as we stand before the end of correction are we in the light of the correction of creation? Let’s put it aside for now.
