Part 3:

Preparation to "Life in the Ten" Convention - Selected Excerpts from the sources.

 2. RABASH, Article No. 8 (1985), "Make for Yourself a Rav and Buy Yourself a Friend – 2"

1. R. (01:58) Why are there such great differences between them? Because they are all, and it is just like it is written, they are all similar to beasts, but amongst those beasts, there are those who want to rise to a higher up degree than the animal, to the degree of speaking, and they are people who agreed to unite in order to scrutinize, specifically in the connection between them, that which belongs to the degree of Adam, the one who resembles the Creator. Without connecting between them, or trying to connect and seeing that they can’t, addressing the Creator, receiving the forces of connection, without that they will not be able to unite, however, when they unite they will feel a new thing. What does it mean to be on the level of the Creator, on the degree of the Creator? That is why we are coming to the convention. Therefore, each and everyone needs to understand that his work is to try to connect, to unite, as he writes, those people who agreed to unite, who united into a single group and engaged in love of friends and so on and so forth. So, they will have one head and one heart, then from them we know and we are told by our teachers, our spiritual forefathers, that from them, by them, we raise ourselves as well to unification which is called the degree of Adam. That is our purpose, to attain in our convention a connection that raises us to the degree of Adam.

2. S. (05:06) We're coming to the convention. First, I understand that I need to convince myself that everyone came to unite. That too is an action that I feel demands effort on behalf of an individual, people who came to unite and that is our goal, to unite.

R. I wouldn't emphasize that too much because I actually decide towards myself how the convention will work in me.

S. Why is it?

R. I don't demand from all the people that are coming to the convention, for them to precisely be connected as one man in one heart and so on and so forth.

S. It won't be right to demand of myself to reach such observations in order to work in that way? Meaning I don't need them to be like that, but I want to feel like that?

R. Then feel.

S. But that also demands work.

R. Demand from yourself.

S. First to reach with the demand for myself, to see that all the society came to unite?

R. Yes.

S. Then Rabash writes that for them to be able to unite each one has to make concessions for the other and upon that they can unite.

R. Yes.

S. What concessions are demanded of us to do and what should I give up on?

R. You need to give up your whole desire to receive that is showing you that you are more than others. On the contrary, your will to receive now is telling you that you are less than everyone, smaller than everyone, that you are truly a tail, and in such a way you will be able to join the whole crowd, the whole people, and emerge by them, from this.

3. S. (07:55) This attitude of coming to the congress and not demanding anything of the others but only of myself to connect to them just the way that they are. Is that correct also in the Ten, or also only towards the general society?

R. There is no difference.

S. If there's no difference, everything we say is about connection, when we say that word it’s not something that I have to demand something from them to connect to me or do what I think, but just as they are, just like that to connect.

R. Yes.

4. S. (08:37) Is there also a matter of adding something for myself to this connection?

R. Certainly.

S. What am I adding of myself?

R. You add yourself.

S. What of myself?

R. Desire, force, direction, everything.

S. The tendency to connect to that?

R. Yes.

S. First of all, to give up on anything I see, all those contemplations that I have to concede first of all, and then also to add a tendency to connect towards them?

R. Yes.

5. S. (09:18) We are entering a congress that we feel that will be the most internal. That could be the first time working in the heart of the Ten in a strong way and we want to be concentrated only in entering this thing, Into the Ten. At the same time, there's the whole world now that is pressing on us more than ever, to connect. How to work correctly with that on the one hand, to be inside the Ten, on the other hand, we feel that pressure to implement. Should we silence it or use it?

R. Use both, use both of them. I feel a push to enter and come to some form of connection that will change my way. Push me forward and show me what to do with life, on the one hand. On the other hand, I need to annul myself and towards the general public and this way connect with them.

S. Maybe it's my impression but in the congress, we used to be concentrated in our interconnection, what's happening with us, and now it feels that we can sustain in that effort to connect, to constantly feel the outside pushing us more. Is it like that? Is it different than other congresses?

R. I think that in the convention we only need to feel ourselves, especially here with all the friends all around the world that are together, convening with one very, very, powerful deficiency, pure deficiency, that there is nothing besides this, and only in such a way we will be giving room for the Creator to be revealed within us.

6. S. (12:31) Still, there are a lot of gatherings around the world and here in Israel there's going to be a very big gathering, one thousand eight hundred friends from the whole Israeli Kli. It is very special; and upon everything that's happening in Israel, a very complex, tense state that doesn't end, how do you see the role of the Israeli Kli in such a congress?

R. I do not divide the Bnei Baruch Kli and an Israeli Kli and even the world Kli, rather, whoever is heart and soul with us understands our goal and our movements towards it and with us, go through all the stages, certainly is like being here.

S. How do we come to the convention, to the lessons, and not look at Rav, you know, that you do the work for us, you know sometimes you say that about us, what are you looking at me or expecting me to do? How to come in such a state in the days that we have left to come in a way that we look at the friends, that the Ten looks at you?

R. First of all, certainly, I will not do the work in your place. It's impossible anyway, even if I would like to do it. It is like you send your child to school or somewhere where he goes through examinations and such, you cannot be in his place. That's how I feel about the convention that you are going through. So, you need to connect in order to discover the Creator, higher, in order to pull yourself out of the lower degree to the highest degree. It all depends on you, this is why I hear this from friends that they understand these things actually, but there are those who probably, not so much, so we still have time to unite and connect, in order to truly raise MAN correctly.

S. What is it, an illusion? The state that I'm really expecting that you will feel that you will renew me, that you will give me, every person has such an expectation.

R. No, no, the Rav will not fill any expectations or any vessels or deficiencies, no, the Rav stands next to you, you are entering a test, and I remain behind the door and then you are before the Creator.

S. Where are our eyes, where is our heart?

R. Upon the friends, upon the friends, and to the extent in which you can build from yourself one vessel.

S. What's our test in this congress? It sounds like a very important one?

R. To bring our hearts out and connect them together.

S. In a general observation, if we look at congresses, at least from the time I'm here, the congresses I came to were very external, with a lot of theater, a lot of singing, nice things for that moment and now it's supposedly a simple congress, we sit ten friends with the sources, with the Rav?

R. The whole theater is within.

S. What does it say about us, about this process?

R. Everybody is expecting the theater that's happening inside. Did you see how musicians read notes? The musicians are not playing those notes, they are not playing some instrument. They're simply looking at these symbols and it plays in them, and it plays in them. This is how we are; we don't need any external form, it is enough for us in our reading for us to feel how it plays in us.

S. What's your expectation from us in the congress?

R. What is our expectation?

S. Yes, your expectations?

R. My expectation?

S. You were talking about our work in the congress. What do you expect from us in this congress?

R. Connection, and in the connection a revelation of the upper force that is one for us all.

7. S. (19:09) In the first part we read that there shouldn't be any self-contact that is flawed. In the congress, we sit in the Ten and all of society. Let's say I'm disappointed with a certain friend's attitude, does that mean I'm already taking something for myself?

R. I don't know, engage in what's upon you to do.

S. I'm checking my relationships here between us, so what to ascribe to the will to receive because I'm entirely the will to receive. So, what is legitimate or not, what should I reject, and what should I remain with because we have our relationships, regularly, like people. One I respect more, one less. Where do I?

R. What?

S. When is it considered that it's already for myself and it's flawed and I have to stay away from it, in my attitude, in my relation towards the others?

R. After you finish helping them in everything in order to move forward you can think about the rest of the things if you still have the forces, the energy, and the intentions.

Reading excerpt 3. (20:59) Zohar for All, Nasso, “Why Have I Come and There Is No Man,” item 106. Twice.

8. S. (22:18) My impression is that I see that this congress you're very disturbed from it. You're concerned about it and it's especially, it's being emphasized more and more in the last few days, so I wanted to ask you, what do you feel about this convention that it awakens in you?

R. The importance of having the opportunity to truly make a leap, but this action does not depend on me.

S. When we hear that there's an opportunity that we can jump ahead, what do the students need to do for this jump to happen?

R. To be ready.

S. What does it mean to want to be ready to jump?

R. That they are willing to hold on to one another in all that is possible. Just not to let go.

S. There's like a readiness on our behalf and you really feel that there's an opportunity here before us?

R. Yes.

S. This ability to implement this jump, what does it depend on that we’ll be able to jump? It's always around unity and connection but is there a way to help one another be in this, enter it, to create such an atmosphere?

R. There is, there is; not one hundred percent but we also do not need it, we don't need it.

9. S. (24:44) If we can go deeper into the question of the connection between our convention and what's happening in the world now because the world is entering a very, very unstable state, everybody is getting ready for a war, the whole world is ready for a war, armies, people are building bunkers and there's a very serious unstableness.

R. But we don't have a problem, we're already in a war.

S. What does that mean?

R. Are we in a war or not as Bnei Baruch?

S. No, the people of Israel.

R. Yes, the state of Israel.

S. The whole world is getting ready for war because of that.

R. Well?

S. I want to ask this, in our congress, can it, should it bring a balancing force to this craziness that's happening in the world right now? Is it part of our test? Should we take this responsibility upon us entering this congress, or is it just how to look at it because you can't just ignore what's happening?

R. I do, I ignore it, I ignore it. First, because besides what we hear, fifty percent of it is a lie and fifty percent is not even associated with it or with us. Therefore, I really am in an inner scrutiny; we are performing actions that we are capable of doing as much as we are capable of doing it and the Creator is with us and will accompany us until the next station. This is how we need to think and the connection between us to draw the general force of connection, the necessary force, the essential force in the world, and let us hope that this will happen, and that is it. I have no problem with the national state, the world state. We will triumph, God willing, with the help of the Creator and with the help of the connection between us, that's it.
