Breaking the Barriers to Spirituality #15
1. Rav’s Introduction:
In spirituality it's not like corporeality where the most important thing is to open the gates and advance because the advancement is built on top of what we go through. Therefore, we have to check and learn what does it mean that the gates are locked, shut, sealed and in general you can’t even detect that it's a gate but rather it looks like a wall. Baal HaSulam says he once explained it and he also wrote about it that a person feels that he has a wall before him and suddenly in this wall, an opening is made and he goes through. Before that, before the opening was opened he could see that there is a wall with an opening with a door that is shut, locked, no, but rather simply should open up. This is what we should learn from that, it is very important for us to learn about the locks themselves and before that, the wall itself. The more we understand the locking, shutting in like the curfew, the quarantine that we are now going through all over the world. What is it, it is also a kind of concealment that becomes revealed, more and more and in studying this concealment, we need to and should advance, imagine for ourselves what will opening up be, the revelation, and this is how we will advance. We will invite this revelation, as quickly as possible. The most important thing for us is in that place where we are, it's not like we want to jump to some state at the end of correction or whatever we cannot depict to ourselves.
Rather, we need to try in the state that we are in, this entire lock up, the darkness and we were sealed, existing in this small dark world, in that we discover the upper Force, there's none else besides Him since only He is creating for us each and every state and it doesn't matter what states we are in, the most important is that we will try to discover in that state. This is called “I dwell among my own people” and there are many verses about it. That actually any state, in each place, the most important for us to understand is that we exist in that place also, in a connection, contact with the Creator, and to delve into that place and make an effort to be connected with Him, this is how we advance. This is why we have before us a few efforts that we need to make and hopefully we will be able to bridge many of them, complete many of them towards the Congress and once we reach it we will already be truly worthy of some advancement.

2. R. This is why we don't need to exert and to search where the place is that will open up. But rather, in the place where we are capable of rising above reason, according to our prayer, according to our request, according to our deficiency, it's not that we will do it but the deficiency with our prayer, with our desire, we are inviting that force and then there is some opening in the wall, in the barrier and we pass through. It's like the tearing of the Red Sea or other such examples when we go through the barriers in the River Jordan or the Red Sea in the place where we want, when we make efforts, when we unite, there, we discover the opening and we go through it.

We tried to connect in the 10 with intentions, we're truly walking into a wall, it's a situation where the Creator just made it impossible, there's no chance to connect and you say that this wall is meant to become a gate, it's sealed, it's a wall, but there's a potential there for an opening to appear. What is that transformation in the spiritual path between the state where it's a wall and the state where it becomes a gate?
R. Faith above reason, that this wall, our will to receive that is separating between us and the quality of bestowal. We exist on one side of the wall in the quality of reception and Kabbalists explained to us that beyond the wall we have the quality of bestowal and we have to shift from the quality of reception to the quality of bestowal. This transition is above reason, as much as I am capable of depicting myself, to make efforts, to make actions, mostly prayers that we will be able to reach a state that the wall will open up. That the will to receive will be revealed and the intention to bestow and that will be the opening. That's it, everything is according to my effort that I'm not capable of, I cannot do it but I very much want it and I'm willing to do anything, however it's beyond my power. In short, the collision between the existing and the desirable, between what I want, however, I am not capable of it. When we do it, as much as we can, making concessions for each other in order to be connected, we are establishing a quality that is coming nearer to bestowal. By that we are drawing, it's not that we are doing it by ourselves but rather we are drawing, inviting, asking, compelling the Creator “my sons have defeated me.” That He will make an opening for us, a passageway, like the tearing of the Red Sea or all these passages, transitions from in order to receive to in order to bestow.
4. S. (11:05) You said that I dwell within my people, does it mean that when we choose from amongst the 70 nations that lie in each and everyone of us, the nation of Israel, then we will have a connection with the Creator?
R. But we should understand that there is no people, Israel, it's an intention that if we have it upon the desires that we have in us, that is seven times ten the Guf, the body of the soul and it's always 7 times 10 which is 70 in each and every one of us, so if we want to connect all of them to the intention to bestow and with the intention to bestow to reach Yashar Kel, that is called Israel. If we do that then by that we actually raise our deficiency to the Creator and from Him already comes to us, eventually, the breakthrough in the wall.
5. S. (12:27) Regarding passing the wall, the passageway, is it a state where the spiritual desires don't awaken, don't illuminate enough to give you that feeling you're in a state where you don't feel any value to life, is that normal in the time?
R. Yes, this is a state that also appears in a person where he is between the heavens and the Earth, what should one do, invest in the group more? Locks and openings, they open up for us. There's a wall, there's a door, there's a lock, there's a key, so we have to arrange all of these things together and there it speaks about it, it's worthwhile to read it we will study these things
S. I just wanted to ask.
R. We have to arrange the locks and the keys and the locks for the keys, the keys for the locks and see how they match as much as we can eventually connect Malchut and Bina and by that we reach the opening. We should read it, it's not worthwhile to resemble it, to liken it to the corporeal lock and see that we can open up, it's a bit different, it's emotional.
7. S. (16:11) It's not clear to me, we need to focus on the goal, which is to reach the quality of bestowal or to always be in the state of effort and exertion, to reach that goal?

10. S. (18:25) True prayer comes from the feeling of the locks, the feeling of the locking, how can we accelerate getting to that feeling of the lock?
R. Distance from us stumbling upon a group and when we see that we can break through the heart of the friend and connect between us into one body, there's something, we're getting stopped, where we see that something's hindering us. In fact, the Creator Himself is the One who is hindering us and it's written in a few places. However, we need to, as much as possible, more and more to pressure, to obligate, to ask to pray, until the curtain, the walls, the locks between us will be cancelled. When we try to make a connection that is rejecting us, repelling us, not allowing us to be in one heart, feeling of one heart there are 125 degrees in each and every degree also exists as Ibur, Yenika and Mochin, so we should try to break through the first degree, how to enter a connection with one desire, with one heart, with one feeling, together. This is actually the first breakthrough that needs to occur on our path in order to activate ourselves all of us as a single cell from which later on we will develop, we will grow but there has to be a drop of semen from which the body already develops. There are a few conditions here that need to be, to be incorporated into the Upper one, want to annul towards one another so that we'll all be as one drop and that way we will break through and start to grow. 11. S. What does it mean, seven layers of the body?
R. These are the disturbances that we have in order to reach the desire, the corrected desire in order to bestow, we will learn that later. This shows us the way in order to bestow, that in our skin there are seven layers but they are all in order to receive and we have to revoke them, relinquish them one by one and then we reach in order to bestow. This is not about the desire itself, but about the intention to bestow, we never speak about the desire itself, we don't try to correct the desire, we try to correct the intention upon the desire and the desires remain as they are.
12. S. (24:03) What is the role of the friends showing me these locks?
R. We need to make efforts together especially in externality, with a physical example so that everyone will see how each and everyone is trying and also that each and every one will try, even though he doesn't feel like it but will try to pray and ask for the friends. I can always turn to the Creator and ask for the friends and this is a prayer that even though I don't want it according to my desire but what can I do with my desire. My desire is not yet aimed towards that but I do aim towards the Creator and I do ask Him. I am speaking to my brothers. I want to be with them and I want to help them in any way possible and I'm not asking for myself personally, I do it, I'm not asking for anything for myself.
Although if I attach myself to any moment in life, I'm only thinking about myself, but at that moment where I want to examine myself, check myself, I invert my request, my prayer to the Creator so that I'm asking for the friends. This is truly an act of bestowal, the strongest act of prayer possible, that I'm asking from the Creator, you will help them, I'm asking of you, I want them to advance, I want them to connect, that I want that I will be just the matter. That upon that matter they will connect, I will be like the glue so that they will be connected, I want to serve them and through that I want to serve you. Several times a day we should turn to the Creator this way. How many times, let's check ourselves today. That certainly the prayer for the friend is actually very useful, very beneficial if we will do it, we will have great benefit out of that for everyone. It is truly what we have on the way from the love of the friends to the love of the Creator. Today, we will try to turn to the Creator with the request, help the friends to be connected and we will guard, we will push all the friends towards connection through our prayer to the Creator till he will connect them and will be revealed in them. This is what we are asking for, this is our pleasure, this is as it says a delight for my soul if I do it this way, if I'm asking from the Creator and the Creator does it and all the friends become connected.
13. S. (27:45) Trying to ask and trying to pray, how to do that if the words are empty, if they don't mean anything to me, how to do it, what does it mean?
R. You will try a few times and later on we will see and we will be able to help you understand what it is that you should do.
S. Is it possible to understand what it means to try to ask to try to pray?
R. You will try to ask simply, like you were asking many times in your life so you will turn to the Creator that you will arrange your request in such a way, that you only want one thing, that they will succeed in their connection and the Creator will be revealed in their connection and will be happy with them. You just want to be in that one who is organizing it, the one who's pushing them, organizing it, pushing them and pulling the Creator into their connection. There are two actions here that they will connect and that the Creator will fill up the connection and this is what you are asking for it to be. You are not demanding anything beyond that, you yourself disappear in all of these things.
14. S. (29:25) According to the excerpt that one does not taste love in the yearning, what is that?
R. I think this is what most of our friends feel that they want to be in some kind of connection with the Creator but they don't feel any reality, nothing concrete and said they feel sorry about it, they suffer, these are emotional things, not intellectual.
15. S. (30:20) Regarding your recommendation you gave to ask for the friends all day long and to check several times how many times I asked, I noticed that it's only when I ask for the 10 it's only then in those moments, I'm not thinking about myself, is that right?
R. Yes, it's correct.
S. We have four meetings during the day and it's tremendous help because then we together raise a prayer, between those meetings it's very difficult to ask for the friends and from experience what helps is an alarm clock that rings once an hour, so what else helps, is there any recommendation so that we can always be in the action of prayer and request?
R. About that, you should ask of the Creator that He will shine some tiny illumination on you that will hold you always with the desire for connection with the friends and connection with him. For that there needs to be an illumination from above so ask from the Creator that He will help you.
16. S. (32:00) I think you already answered this image of the Creator which rules over all of my problems, He helps me raise a prayer without feeling pressure. I'd also like to add that the Creator is that character that makes me work with greater effort?
R. I didn't understand the question.
S. That image of the Creator does it need to remain to leave that impression that the Creator is ruling, in charge governing so that I can complete this specific task with a request for Him or does a certain space need to open where I give I make this room to feel that He governs everything?
R. Yes, correct, because when you turn to Him already you receive His height, His power, His control above you, otherwise why are you turning to Him.
17. S. (33:52) Is our ten a lock that opens to spirituality?
R. Yes of course, yes but also the heart of each and everyone is under a lock and we have to open each and every heart and create connections between all of the hearts. Then lock the entire 10 with one lock, this is called restriction, screen and reflected light that we're all closed together in a spiritual action towards the Creator. We place the lock on the connection between us and we will not let us run away, the group and this way we will be connected with him.

18. R. Well, this is clear to us, until we discover the Creator, we don't know who is performing all these actions for us, who is taking us through all of these states, who is above us. After the Creator is revealed we also discover Him everywhere, we can detect Him in each and everything and here the question is, well we don't understand it yet now, but what does it mean that the Creator is revealed or is not revealed, we through the source of our faith above reason establish Him in each and every place.
19. S. (37:29) In light of what we have learned up till now, our ability to break through matter by overcoming the seven layers of the body, of the intentions, is that because the seven layers are also in faith, which is the Divine quality that we attain?
R. Yes, I have no other way to answer, the question is still not practical but yes we will discover it.
20. S. (38:14) I listened to yesterday's lesson again and there is part of it that still eludes me, you said something very important yesterday, you said that our rejection is the central strongest force in creation. So this drop of unity that we cultivate when we go against our desire, it creates a kind of chain reaction by which we can influence that central powerful force so we can harness it and have it service us, did I understand correctly?
R. No, but soon we will reach a topic where he talks about it in a broader way, what you said is correct, however, we need to open it up but it's true nevertheless.
21. S. (39:32) How to pray for the friends when you feel a lock on your heart?
R. Yes, this is what we need to do, specifically when I feel a lock on my heart and I pray for the friends when I have no relation to them, no connection to them, no desire for it, no inclination for it and I do pray nevertheless for them, that the Creator will help them, because by me praying for them I am breaking my lock. This is a means by which to break myself, my heart.

R. Yes, one should pray above human force.
S. How do you pray above human power?
R. Simple, as they say according to the clock now I need to pray, that's it, then bit by bit it becomes second nature, a habit becomes second nature and more and more I find some flavor in it and I even forcefully, without a desire, if I make such efforts, by that I awaken the reforming light and it arranges for me a new relation.

system

broken,
disconnected

spirituality,

Creator,

connection.
More

more
they
become
incorporated
there
and
this

it

done,

spiritual

realm.
22. S. (42:00) This prayer by the clock, how do I do that if it is by a set time and without the emotion?
R. You turn to the Creator and begin to ask him what is it you really want from him, even tell him I really don't want anything, you're not giving me anything and the friends have nothing, again and again and again but you are turning to the Creator that too is a prayer. In that prayer you include the friends, yourself and Creator together, this is called Israel, Torah and the Creator are one and this is how you activate yourself. You will see how after a few activations suddenly you'll see already that you have some sensitivity for it, some attitude. Suddenly you feel that attitude and sensitivity that you felt in your previous appeal for the friends, to the Creator, you're missing it and you don't have it now and again do it. Just do it, you will see a habit becomes second nature.
23. S. (43:39) You said about the fact that the Creator is revealed when we establish Him in faith above reason. So here there is an issue, if it means in quality and quantity, we need to fill up a certain quota of scrutiny between us, what is it?
R. Every 24 hours we need to be turning to the Creator as it is written I wish he praised all day long. I hope that we are always turning to the Creator for the connection between the friends to make room between them because it brings him contentment. I begin the process and I ask him to organize that place and later, I ask him to be revealed in that place and I make sure that he is delighted in that place, where he can be revealed in that place and that place is all of my friends, all of my friends to be in one heart and the Creator feels that heart.
24. S. (45:05) It seems that a person should constantly be overcoming, what is to overcome?
R. I don't have the patience to tell you again, just write it down and keep looking at what you wrote. How much we have studied overcoming. Overcoming means it's an effort against my ego which disconnects me from spirituality, which gets me into all sorts of corporeal actions and puts me to sleep, acts against the connection, most of all. Overcoming means that with all the strength, all the power, tools and needs that I have at my disposal, I try using those in order to achieve a connection. In that connection we discover the force that we share, that connects us together because we can discover him only through connection. He's the Creator, he's one and we need to make of ourselves as much as we are distant to each other, opposite to each other, we need to make a connection which is as one. The strength of that connection, derived from how distant we are and how we need to be connected together, connected to him, by that through that, we attain him in a connection between us. Write that down and don't ask it again these are things which cannot be repeated constantly.

25. R. Meaning whatever we do even if it's a false effort with what intention, I mean what kind of intentions can we maintain, certainly not in order to bestow, but still in order to receive. Regardless by somehow being orientated towards him, somehow trying to achieve something of bestowal, in order to bestow. Yes, it's like a little baby, he's not yet aware of what he's doing for the parents, by his very existence, by just being in their hands, by that he already gives them great contentment. What pleasure they have from this and it's the same with us even if physically we're connected together and we want by that, even just through our words not even the intention, we want to achieve a state where, yes, we want to come to cause some delight to the Creator, that is already great thing, a very great thing and we have to regard this highly and to thank him for having this opportunity.
26. S. (50:05) Sometimes when I pray for the friends it comes from all of the heart and all of the emotions and sometimes, I pray for the friends, but I don't really feel a lot of emotions towards this prayer. So, my question, is there a different level of prayer or if there is any difference between these prayers?
R. Certainly, of course there are many degrees to the prayer, many levels. The prayer is how you regard the Creator, your attitude towards the Creator and you know there are many kinds of relationship between you and him until you come to a state where it's revealed and you'll receive the powers to act out on your attitude, towards the Creator, you will receive powers to act out in a more practical way with the intention to truly bestow. Yes, let's hope that over these days as we approach the congress, that we will accelerate this development and be more oriented, aiming correctly, better and better, it all depends on our collective effort.
27. S. (51:43) Did I understand correctly that the habit is an external act that helps us reach an internal act?
R. Correct.
S. If a person in this world does not engage in strengthening the internal action, the internal habit?
R. If he's in a society and the society influences him and it will be maybe he takes a few steps forward on account of the society but after that he will nevertheless need to activate himself and towards them and towards the Creator, but the first steps we take thanks to the environment then the Creator and then the environment.
S. This means that I need to necessarily begin in this world with some habits each and every day and I develop it?
R. Yes, we are very meticulous about being accurate with the times when we get up to the morning lesson and then meeting, afternoon and then evening with my group actions we perform, reading articles and going over the lesson again. So all these steps that we set for ourselves these things help, they are greatly helpful, it's worth wild to create a daily schedule and try to follow it.
28. S. (53:39) How does the ten understand that it is contentment to the Creator?
R. If I cause pleasure for the friends, that I can be certain that through that I'm also causing pleasure to the Creator for the Creator, I just can't discover the Creator in the friends, yet because we have not yet come to a state where we are all connected together to that point, to that extent. There's no connection between the ten Sefirot so the Creator cannot be revealed. But we can say we're on the way there, we are trying to get him contentment.
S. You told this many times to look for the site of Israel, the light and the Creator is one, to connect these three elements. Let's say that right now you analyze it and you see that you don't have that component of the Torah, the light?
R. Torah, the Torah is the entire method by which we learn, it's the articles of Baal HaSulam and Rabash and all of that is called connecting together to discover the Creator. That is the Torah, the means we use to discover the Creator.
29. S. (55:31) Can you help me to understand why I'm not yet capable of having this need to raise a prayer? I feel very comfortable where I am. We try to pray throughout the day and I don't manage to remember how to do it?
R. Aren't you lacking spirituality? Don't you like it, don't you want it?
S. Yes, I want to be adhered to the Creator, but throughout the day until I get a message from the friends or something when I get it, I try, but then again, I fail, but only when I speak about raising the prayer, I even remember the importance of it and other times I don't even remember it?
R. So discuss it, more discussing. I'll reveal the secret to you, the friends are connected together much more than they connect with you, they have a connection between them that is much more powerful, so much so try to be connected with them with all of your power.
30. S. (57:30) What are the states of a good heart and a bad heart in the work?
R. Desires that I feel exist in my heart, that's it. So it's good at times, bad at times, we need to connect the Creator, both of them to the Creator and it's the same thing what's the difference between a good heart and a bad heart, the bad heart the evil heart egoistic desires in it that are being revealed and a good heart means upon the egoistic desires I'll be able to cover it with the intention in order to bestow through connection and then it becomes a good heart there is no good heart but there's an evil heart that can be corrected so that it becomes good.
31. S. (58:42) What kind of deficiency should we awaken in the 10 that will be congruent with the Creator's deficiency? How can the 10 help me?
R. We want to connect together 10 as one, yes 10 as one, by that we actually want to build the image of the Creator from ourselves. That's all, so only in that way we'll call Adam, from the word Domeh, Adam, similar to The Creator. The more we connect together, what are we doing, we want to build the image of the Creator, it's like making a doll or some shaping clay into some form, shaping clay into some form. It's like with children who form sand into various shapes. So now it's winter so maybe snow yes. When we make that image, that form of ourselves, our thoughts and our desires together, if we reach a kind of connection between us, we discover that this connection becomes alive, this connection becomes the image of God, of the Creator and so it's written so “you made Me”. we need to make an effort to do that.
32. S. (01:00:48) We constantly search for something common and I heard now that the image of the Creator is that comment thing that should be alive 24 hours a day between us, we build and we enter it?
R. Yes of course he is between us all of the time just we need to make an effort to come close to him and to locate him, to make room for him where he can be revealed. When we connect our desires in such a way by ourselves, in a way in which he can be revealed in those desires.
S. What does it mean that we connect those desires to build a place for him?
R. Exactly like that, we need to connect our desire such that they become the image of the Creator, the form of the Creator and the name of the Lord will be upon you.
S. In the times between lessons, between meetings on Zoom, connecting these desires, building how is it done, by which force how is it built and how do we feel it?
R. We want to relate to each other in the ten like the Creator relates to us, with love, connection, support. If we relate to each other that way and connecting that way by that we are actually allowing the Creator, the upper light, which is everywhere, we allow it to fill us, to give us life and then we will all take on the form of the Creator, receive the form of the Creator, the whole ten together as each one annuls himself to the others and each one connects with the others in the 10. By that we allow the upper light to finalize our connection, it's called the Lord will finish for me. Then he will be clothed in that connection in matching with our vessels and the Creator.
S. Specifically in the intermissions with each one is with himself, with his feelings, being precise about the Creator in those moments even if I'm in imagining it to myself, is that the correct work or is there some other work that I may miss?
R. No, we just need to simply need to do what we said, try forgetting about what we had before and these words we just said now, to actualize throughout the day and then tomorrow we will see, we will hear.
33. S. (01:02:04) There are corporeal calculations in the building of the connection. Does it help us or should we just relate to it emotionally?
R. It is better we relate to each other with an open heart and only in the direction of connection and all of our corporeal calculations we set aside.
34. S. (01:04:36) What is the secret of love, how does it become the key to all the locks and how can we not forget?
R. All of the locks that we have between us, they separate us, they shut each one of us in his own egoistic vessel so that other than my own ego I feel nothing. These are the locks that shut us in, I cannot open this lock, I only can ask the Creator to do it. So if we ask, we ask in the 10, each one for the others, then it turns out that this is how we can be the most efficient. I don't ask for myself, I ask for the others, even if it's a formal kind of request. Because I used to always ask for myself, help me do this, for me, but if I ask for others so that I exist in the 10, only in order to pray for them, only in order to make connection between them and the Creator and vice-versa from the Creator to them. That's my entire role, I want nothing but for that and by myself, I see myself a zero, I don't exist nothing except for one thing, I make a connection between the Creator and the nine friends and from the nine friends to the Creator. That's what I want and if I arrange myself in that manner, establish myself in that way, several times a day if I try to establish such an attitude that where that's my place, that's my duty, then I actually succeed and the Creator starts taking care of the ten and that is actually my role and there's nothing more. It is a very special thing we need to think about it, more and more and most of all to actualize it throughout the day, try your best, you received many tips today, try to actualize it.
35. S. (01:07:47) ) How to take everything you described right now and compress it?
R. Discuss it throughout the day, try to get some summaries, try to create some summaries that act upon those and the work you do together and let's hope that the day passes well.
