Part 2: The Creator is the Place - Selected Excerpts from The Sources. #2.
Reader: We will be reading excerpts from the sources on the subject of “The Creator Is the Place”. We will start with excerpt number 2. Of course, you can send questions through the Arvut platform.
Reading: (00:20) 2. RABASH, Article No. 20 (1991), “What Is, 'There Is Nothing that Has No Place,' in the Work?”
The Creator is the place of His world. That is, the correction of creation is that the place of the Creator, meaning the lack, called “the place of the Creator,” is that the Creator wants to bestow, meaning the deficiency.
The deficiency that can be said about the Creator is that He wants to do good to His creations. That desire to bestow, when the world is deficient because they want to bestow like the Creator, at that time the world will exist in wholeness. At that time, the Creator will be able to bestow upon them delight and pleasure. Why? Because the reception of delight and pleasure will be in a manner of correction.
Question (Petah Tikva Center): (01:43) What does it mean to want to bestow like the Creator, by His example?
M. Laitman: From observation of a person at creation where he sees the forces of the Creator that are everywhere, and he wants to resemble Him.
Student: In what? In what sense does he want to resemble Him?
M. Laitman: Bestowal, the force of bestowal.
Student: What can a person bestow? The Creator is the Creator, what can a person bestow?
M. Laitman: Probably one has such qualities, forces, means. By which the Creator will be happy to receive.
Question (Petah Tikva Center): (03:08) He says that the good and pleasure only comes with the correction. What does that mean? That it comes on the path of the correction, the good and pleasure that we get from the Creator?
M. Laitman: That so much as we are drawn to resemble the Creator, by that we'll have more and more feeling of good and pleasure that we get in resembling the Creator.
Student: So, only from a deficiency that we’ll want and yearn to build a vessel to resemble Him more, to be closer to Him. That will give us the good and pleasure?
M. Laitman: Yes.
Student: Can we connect it, like we learned in a previous lesson, in the previous part about the scales? That the Creator is always letting us balance those forces and feel the good and pleasure there?
M. Laitman: You could say so.
Question (Petah Tikva Center): (04:49) What does the ability to see the forces of the Creator everywhere depend on? What does it depend on to have the abilities to see the force of the Creator in every place?
M. Laitman: In the revelation of the qualities of the created being, where he begins to sense within these qualities how much and what does he lack in resembling the Creator.
Student: So, it also depends on the intensity of the connection between us?
M. Laitman: That depends on both the magnitude of connection between us, as well as the qualities, first, that appear in us.
Question (Petah Tikva Center): (06:41) According to the excerpt, he writes, that The Place is the correction of creation. We have the correction of creation and the purpose of creation. So, The Place, the Creator, His place, what's the connection between that to the 6,000 years of correction? It seems, do you see what I'm saying?
M. Laitman: I don't understand. I also don't understand, why do you think that years are The Place?
Student: Because he writes that the Place is a correction of creation. That's what he wrote here. And we know that the correction is through 6,000 years, that we're correcting our will to receive, in order to bestow. So, the place of the Creator, is it in between? Is it His place? That's the intermediate degree between the created being and the Creator?
M. Laitman: No.
Question (Petah Tikva Center): (08:07) Is there a difference between a deficiency to bestow to bestowing?
M. Laitman: Difference between a deficiency to bestow and bestowing? Well, yes.
Student: What's the difference?
M. Laitman: Because a deficiency to bestow is still a deficiency that is in the person. And his action of bestowing, that is already bestowal, bestowal itself. That is a product of the previous desire.
Student: The ability to bestow is a fulfillment already? I don't know how to say it – is it, actually, an ability to bestow? It's a revelation?
M. Laitman: Ability to bestow is already revelation.
Student: So, why does it say that the Creator has a deficiency to bestow? To do good to His created beings, He has a deficiency to do it?
M. Laitman: That's how we have to discover what belongs to the Creator. And we reveal a deficiency.
Student: So, we reveal the deficiency that isn't in us? That we don't have the will to bestow?
M. Laitman: Yes.
Student: And how from here do we advance to the ability to bestow? To actually, how from the ability to bestow, from a deficiency you reach the ability.
M. Laitman: Deficiency to bestow is something a person reveals and from that, he reveals why he doesn't have a deficiency to bestow, and that's how he comes closer to the Creator.
Question (Petah Tikva Center): (10:42) I want to continue the friend about The Place. It's written that there's no place but only 400. He relates the place to 400. Is that the four stages?
M. Laitman: Yes.
Student: So, when we say Place, it's four stages of the Kli that we have to build?
M. Laitman: Yes.
Question (Petah Tikva Center): (11:20) They say a person is a small world, that's what we learned. Here, he mentioned that the world is in the place. So, that means in the Ten that connects, the Creator is revealed?
M. Laitman: Yes.
Student: Is that right?
M. Laitman: Yes.
Student: Now, we learn that there's a law of nature, that we can't ask anything beyond that; a law of nature is the Creator. So, according to this new law – new, I am saying that what scientists discovered about the quantum physics. That the same foundations that are, no matter which distances, they respond in the same manner. That's why in the Zohar, it says that if I look at a faraway planet, I'm actually affecting the planet. So, the question is: I asked someone who works in quantum computers, and he gave me an answer that kind of inverts what we're learning about. I asked him: What a quantum computer is. He says, it does two actions at the same time - zero and one. Meaning, that the Creator, also, when He bestows or receives, we see it as one action. My question is what we learn in Kabbalah, which is the quality of the Creator, and everything we discover is the laws of nature now, or scientists. So, it's actually what we learn from the sages, the wisdom that they attained. Is it the same?
M. Laitman: Could be.
Student: You gave me an answer once, that man and the Creator are made of seven elements. Meaning that the portions of light that we get, with the light that reforms, we're coming closer to that same place. Also, “Love thy friend as thyself”, you once said, that we're restricting the gap between me and the friend, so there's no more place for the others, so we're adhered to him.
M. Laitman: Yes.
Student: So, it's all one big overlapping. I think that when I start thinking about it that way and try to share it. So, I discover that the gap isn't so big.
M. Laitman: Yes.
Question (Petah Tikva Center): (14:27) Is The Place equivalence of form from the root? Are there a few degrees of equivalence of form? But now you're in the form of the root but that's clear.
M. Laitman: Well, that depends on the person, what place he's at, what desire he's in.
Student: And for the deficiency to bestow and bestow are in the same place. And the feeling is in the same place, the deficiency for it? And when you reveal the place, they're both at the same time?
M. Laitman: Yes.
Student: So, is there a revelation of the light of Nefesh or Nefesh of Nefesh? Or only the light of Nefesh?
M. Laitman: I didn't understand, I didn't hear it clearly.
Student: The revelation of the place is also the revelation of the light of Nefesh somehow or Nefesh of Nefesh?
M. Laitman: Yes.
Reader: We can go to the next excerpt, it kind of continues us.
Reading: (15:58) 3. RABASH, Article No. 462, “Blessed Is the Place [Creator]” - Twice.
“Place” refers to the place of creation, which the Creator created. By His desire to do good to His creations, He created existence from absence a place for them to receive the delight and pleasure that He wants to impart upon them. It follows that this place, meaning creation, should be filled with the light of the Creator, which is to do good to His creations. It follows that “Blessed is the place” means that we bless Him for creating the place.
It therefore follows that if the place has not yet been filled, and there is concealment of the face in this place, we say that this place must be filled with the light of the Creator. Although it is still not revealed to us, we must believe that “The whole earth is full of His glory,” and “His servants ask one another, ‘Where is the place of His glory?’”
Accordingly, the meaning of “The Place will fulfill your need” means that this lack, the concealment of the face, which causes all the lacks, will be filled, namely that it will be in revelation of the face.
Question (Petah Tikva Center): (19:50) What's the difference between believing that the earth is full of the glory, to revelation of the face?
M. Laitman: That depends on what desire, in what desire you discover the place.
Student: Also, when we need to believe that he wants to be in bestowal to the Creator and adhesion with Him, he says you have to believe that it's really like that. And then he gives an example that there's also a revelation of the face. So, what between one another, on behalf of man, a person establishes the same deficiency in both cases, no?
M. Laitman: Why the same deficiency?
Student: He wants to bestow to the Creator. He discovers that in a certain part he doesn't bestow but still, he has to believe that he is.
M. Laitman: Yes?
Student: And then he says that, afterwards, it has to be, that this form will be in revelation of the face. But a person still establishes the same deficiency. So, what changes between those two states?
M. Laitman: With respect to the person, what's important is to continue the quality of the deficiency because by that he attracts the Creator's attention to him. Exactly, according to his aspects; that's the problem.
Student: If a person is in a deficiency and upon it, he needs to believe. How then can he draw another deficiency?
M. Laitman: The deficiency that he wants to have faith, he needs to have faith, he's able to have faith. That is a deficiency which is higher.
Student: So, a person has to be in a state of fulfillment or a constant state of a deficiency?
M. Laitman: Good question, it's a good question in the right place. A man has to, first, yearn to feel the place of creation. And then, accordingly, to aim for the correction of creation, fulfillment of creation. And then he receives the ability to feel the Creator and unite with the Creator.
Question (Petah Tikva Center): (24:50) The right deficiency, could it be a fulfilling on its own?
M. Laitman: Is a higher deficiency, able to become fulfillment for deficiency that we now still use.
Student: Yes.
M. Laitman: There are such actions, where the deficiency that is higher fills up the place of the previous deficiency.
Student: Can I ask about those actions?
M. Laitman: Yes.
Student: What are they?
M. Laitman: I don't understand. These actions are actions that those who are doing them, they fulfill that place with questions.
Question (Petah Tikva Center): (26:33) In the end of Letter 19, Baal HaSulam mentions it, I'll read it slowly: “That during the preparation, the grace and beauty seems like perfection. And afterwards, he yearns for the correction that the earth will be filled with the glory of the Creator. And I've seen an opposite world. Because only the longing is the perfection. And they feel that during the preparation they were lying to themselves”. I can't understand this feeling on how to keep the Creator in a certain distance from you. That you only want the deficiency for Him and not His revelation.
M. Laitman: The deficiency is the desire that you have to try and feel as a deficiency, and try to match a Kli for it, the means to fulfill it.
Student: But without yearning for the filling in the end, right?
M. Laitman: Well, the question is this: Do you long to feel the deficiency in a different way than how it appears? Why?
Student: That it won't go to the will to receive for no reason?
M. Laitman: You have to see, you have to check. Is that same will to receive that you now wish to fulfill? Is it the same will to receive that stem from – how to put it – from your deficiencies?
Student: Because this depiction seems inhumane. It's not clear, how you can come close to such a thing, even to depict it or imagine it. I'm not even saying how to reach it.
M. Laitman: Yes, you're right.
Student: Okay, I'll ask him this way: Naturally, I want a revelation. I guess all of us want to discover and feel and be filled. So, to fight this tendency or not?
M. Laitman: Yes, to fight? I don't know, what is your relationship to answering this question?
Student: I'm asking what the right relation towards it should be. What should we try and feel or ask for?
M. Laitman: Okay, we'll talk about that soon.
Question (Petah Tikva Center): (30:35) The Place we're talking about is our heart. And as long as I've been on the path, there are more and more corruptions. The coerciveness is just growing. So, first of all, how to cleanse myself of those corruptions to make a place for Him?
M. Laitman: This, I don't know.
Student: Why does He give a deficiency in that kind of form? First, there's a deficiency for the right deficiency. Why does he always put more obstacles before us?
M. Laitman: So that you will come to open your eyes; so that, you know exactly what you want.
Student: The beginning of the path for me was clear. What I wanted, I wanted the correction of the world, to discover the Creator between us. And the more corruptions He gives, it becomes more and more difficult to see what I want.
M. Laitman: You are right.
Student: So, what should I do about it?
M. Laitman: Keep going.
Question (Petah Tikva Center): (32:41) He writes that concealment of the face is the reason for all deficiencies. And you also said in the beginning of the lesson that we don't escape suffering. We long for connection, we long for contact with the Creator. So, both you and Rabash direct us to the highest point, here. How do we put this knowledge into the heart? That other than contact with the Creator, we lack nothing?
M. Laitman: That's my prayer, that's a prayer. That should be a prayer, you need to raise your deficiencies and to ask that the Creator will take care of them, will change them in a way that you'll be able to bestow.
Student: This change, the connection with the Creator that we build. Will that become the place? Is that called the place?
M. Laitman: That is, the place.
Question (Petah Tikva Center): (34:23) In order to reveal the place in creation, we learned that a person has to be in equivalence of form with the Creator with the quality of bestowal. Now, that, too, can happen through the friends. Also, we said that we need to give gifts to the friends to get closer to them. A person who made this action and discovered only shame and fear after giving the gift. So, what's next? How do you continue that? It's as if stopped him and doesn't allow him to advance?
M. Laitman: You have to start working anew, probably.
Student: What needs to be taken into account, anew?
M. Laitman: Why did it stop him?
Student: Because he felt fear and shame after giving the gift.
M. Laitman: Well? So, what can he do against it?
Student: What I thought of is to scrutinize why I felt that sense of fear and shame. Seemingly, the friend who received the gift was happy.
M. Laitman: Okay. There is more to learn.
Question (Petah Tikva Center): (36:08) I heard before that a person needs to awaken the Creator's attention to him. How do you awaken the Creator's attention?
M. Laitman: By prayer. When a person wants to receive something from the Creator, the Creator doesn't want to remain disconnected from a person. And in this way, he reaches contact with the Creator.
Question (Petah Tikva Center): (37:04) I, also, heard that a person has forces, means, abilities that the Creator will be happy to accept. What does a man have that the Creator will be happy to receive?
M. Laitman: That's what I said?
Student: Yes. You were asked what can a person bestow to the Creator? The Creator is the Creator, what can a person bestow? And you answered, probably a person has such forces, abilities, qualities that the Creator will be happy to receive. What exactly exists in the person that the Creator will be happy to receive or that the Creator awaits, anticipates, from the person?
M. Laitman: What do you think? But keep it brief – two words and to the purpose. Well?
Answer (Petah Tikva Center): (38:33) Our assumption is that the Creator is good, that does good, even if we don't feel. We call that faith. And that which will be liked in His eyes, we've learned, “As He is merciful, so are you”. We said before that love of friends is equivalence with Him, qualities of the Creator. You taught us that the Creator is an ocean of love, and we exist within it. We just need to, you said in 2018, that lack of feeling the Creator, we all have to adhere to the Creator. Le Chaim, Bnei Baruch!
M. Laitman: Yes.
Answer (Petah Tikva Center): (39:39) Every friend of ours is unique, has special qualities for the connection he needs to develop in his Ten. That's what I think it's about.
M. Laitman: Okay.
Answer (Petah Tikva Center): (40:00) It seems to me that what the Creator demands of us is confidence.
M. Laitman: Confidence?
Student: Yes, to trust the Creator, because that's the vessel the Creator dwells in, confidence, regarding what the friend asked.
M. Laitman: Okay.
Question (Kyiv 1): (40:35) What is the place we need to depict to ourselves? Is it the desire or what is it?
M. Laitman: The place is the desire, you're right. That place our group can be found in it, if we aim towards it.
Answer (Petah Tikva Center): (41:12) A friend whispered to me, and it fell on my heart. That we need to labor, and that's what the Creator expects of us. So, as to raise that to a coupling and connection between us, the labor, the exertion, that's what we need to give to Him.
Question (Petah Tikva Center): (41:40) He writes, the place of the Creator is that the Creator wants to bestow, that is, deficiency. Is that deficiency filled with light or not?
M. Laitman: Not filled. If it was filled with light, we would receive it as light. Right now, we receive it as a deficiency.
Student: Is that place in the Creator?
M. Laitman: We don't know that, yet.
Student: Can we say that man's deficiency to benefit the created beings is called, the Creator?
M. Laitman: No. The deficiency that a person wants, that the Creator wants to do good to the created beings, the Kadosh Baruch Hu, as if the man is the source of the Creator?
Student: Because he writes that the Creator is the place of His world because of that. So, it's not, correct?
M. Laitman: Not correct.
Question (Women Heb 1): (43:44) Can we ask the Creator for a connection with Him, face to face, is that a correct request?
M. Laitman: It's a request, why not? You can turn to Him with any question you want.
Student: The question is whether it's a prayer that's being answered or is it egoistic?
M. Laitman: You have to know about it in advance.
Student: I want to make the request as precise as possible.
M. Laitman: So, ask Him to know what He wants to hear from you.
Question (Petah Tikva Center): (44:43) From what I hear, here, besides the place there's nothing. How do we attain that, that besides the place, there's nothing?
M. Laitman: I don't know. Turn to Him, ask Him; work according to that.
Student: You answered a friend, I heard the question before, that when we attain that there's revelation of the face, then we see that besides the place, there is nothing.
M. Laitman: Yes?
Student: And the question is how do we turn, correctly? How should it be?
M. Laitman: Try this way, that way; ask a few times the Creator this way and that way, and then you'll start feeling whether a direction is here.
Student: Because it doesn't depend only on me, it depends on connection with the Ten and connection between us?
M. Laitman: So, turn to the Ten and ask from the Ten, along with you, to turn to the Creator. And then, you'll be more precise with all your questions.
