Part 1:
Rabash. Article No. 14, 1986. What Is the Need to Borrow Vessels from the Egyptians?
Reading Article: (00:23) “It is written, ‘Speak now in the ears…’”
1. R. (36:08) No response? Well, nice.
2. S. (36:32) It sounds like in whatever side they picked, they have to be total about it. If they choose wholeness, they have to be in wholeness. They can't even see a state where they may have a desire to advance, desires to acquire fulfillment. On the other hand, when they're in a state of Haman, who owns vessels of reception, he has no intentions of bestowal, whatsoever. It's like this absoluteness, what can we learn from this work? When we aspire to the right or we’re in the right and it’s part of the left in order to receive vessels?
R. It is true, in order for us to have desires and thoughts and aspirations that are complete, as much as possible, yes. Otherwise, we have a little bit of this, a little bit of that, a little bit of this. But we therefore cannot realize them.
3. S. (37:50) The vessels of the Egyptians are scary. It’s bestowal that can throw a person. Where’s the confidence that they can borrow the Egyptian vessels and not be influenced by them, so they harm them?
R. This is what they have before them, this is what they have before them. How does a person know how much he is entering bestowal? Will it not harm him? Well, you have to go with your eyes shut. We will see.
4. S. (38:48) Israel borrowed the vessels from the Egyptians in order to increase, to grow their vessel, so they could receive the Good Who Does Good to their vessel. And the lights keep growing but the vessels are on loan. Meaning they have to return the vessels. So, let's say we're in the first state, we have a vessel. The light enters and then the vessel disappears. Where does the light dwell, on what, in what?
R. In your share, in your vessel.
S. But the vessel disappeared, I returned it?
R. It is as he says that you enter the king's treasure, and you take something from there. You go out and they poured it out for you. And they say, well, go back in. So, what you poured down later remains for you.
S. Where do I get the next vessel? Once I received the light, I’m paralyzed. The light paralyzed, it filled it, and Israel wanted nothing more. I need to receive again a new vessel, and this new vessel, once you're paralyzed you want nothing. I don’t know, but how does this process continue to unfold after the first time?
R. How do you empty the vessel?
S. Yes.
R. That the Egyptians help you. If they would not exist then you would not continue, you would be satisfied.
S. That is the question: How do I get to this point, as if I need another vessel, where does this desire come from? We know we can say they work from the Egyptians. But is it just another desire that's added from the Creator and He fills it as well?
R. I would say that it is the same desire that you had; however, because you wanted to use it and you were not able to, it grew. It comes back to you, and it awakens again.
S. This is the refinement of the vessel?
R. Yes.
5. S. (41:33) There's something interesting in the last paragraph: “Now we can understand what we asked about how the matter was turned from one end to the other, since the writing says they detested the sons of Israel, meaning they were as thorns. And afterward, the Lord gave the people's favor in the eyes of the Egyptians. Wanting to hear their questions gave them favor because they thought they were going their way. And the Lord gave the people’s favor by telling them to borrow the vessels from them since this is what the Egyptians wanted.” My question is this comes to prove to the people of Israel that he will not separate from the Egyptians? They are your externality; you need to learn to love them the way you love your own internality. The question is, does that bring us to a stage where we are responsible for the whole world really? We are responsible for everything that is happening. At that time, it was the entire world, no?
R. I do not know, I do not learn this so deeply but according to whatever was written.
6. S. (43:09) I didn't understand what we leave in Egypt and what we borrow from Egypt?
R. The vessels, we take them, give them, we receive the filling. Later on, when they are taken out, then they pour it down, they throw it away. But what they wanted to take out was already outside.
S. Our goal is to exit Egypt and run away from Egypt. So, what are we taking from them that we want to come out? Why do we take anything from them?
R. The filling.
S. What kind of filling?
R. Whatever there is in Egypt.
S. Which is what? What did we borrow here?
R. What did we leave behind? We do not leave anything behind, we want to bring everything out.
S. We didn't leave, I don't understand. We took what we wanted to run away from?
R. Yes.
S. That's not clear to me.
R. All of the fillings exist in Egypt. Israel receives small vessels, and they are capable of taking just a little bit out each time, out of Egypt from the treasury, you could say, to the outside. This is what they do each time. Meaning they take some filling, and they go out. The Egyptians pour it out from them. Israel cries they go back in once again, and they take some filling. Again, they go out, again it is poured down. And this is how it is many times. Until Israel are already despaired, they cannot see that they will get anything out of it, and they are told, all of this is yours.
S. Why is Israel listening to Moses and Aaron and not to the Egyptians? Why aren't they even listening to them, they represent faith above reason.
R. Israel wants to get out of Egypt; however, they do not know whether it is possible and how. Moses and Aaron bring them the plan of redemption.
S. Why, at this point, they don’t listen to the Egyptians’ arguments? And are drawn there and go there? Where did they have the inclination toward Moses and Aaron?
R. No, until they pour down whatever they took out of Egypt, they have nothing to go back with.
7. S. (46:36) It is written that they fell each time to a deeper gate of impurity. If each time you fall into a deeper gate of impurity, how do you come out of Egypt?
R. You receive the force; they go back to Egypt; they fill their vessels once again and they want to bring them out. Because in Egypt, they cannot use them and when they come out of Egypt, then the filling disappears. It is lost or it is poured down, and once again, they are without any filling, without any result.
S. What does it mean to fall each time into a deeper gate of impurity?
R. That was the same filling they had and were on their way to being free. Now one sees this filling as bringing him to an even greater fall, even greater impurity than before.
S. What is impurity?
R. Impurity means in order to receive.
S. So, his in order to receive is growing with him?
R. Yes.
S. How from growing the in order to receive, he comes to exit Egypt?
R. He is told to go back in; there inside there is the force of in order to bestow. There inside is the force of connection. Try to bring it out.
S. Where is it inside?
R. There inside of the treasury of Egypt.
S. Inside the gates of impurity, the ever-growing gates of impurity?
R. Yes.
S. In them, there’s in order to bestow?
R. Yes.
S. How do we extract in order to bestow from the gates of impurity?
R. No, no, how do we extract in order to bestow? What do you mean?
S. How do we get to in order to bestow from the increasingly growing gates of impurity?
R. The Egyptians hold all of the lights in the vessels of in order to receive. Israel wants to bring these lights out into vessels of in order to bestow. They do not have that, and when they go out of the treasury and they see that outside of the treasury, they have nothing that they can use. They cannot use this filling at all, that they took from the Egyptians. They performed these actions where it is poured down, everything that they brought out from the Egyptians. And once again they remain empty. This means that now each time, they receive a double deficiency, relatively compared to what they had, until this deficiency multiplies. So much so that they are already capable of holding this deficiency or revealing it. Meaning, that when they are in such a state then they are told that all of these belong to you.
S. What deficiency, a deficiency for what?
R. Deficiency for the filling they will have in their vessels. Or correctly, for the filling for the reforming light, reflected light, sorry, because it is really reflected light.
8. S. (51:56) He writes that when people of Israel heard the slander of the Egyptians, that they slandered bestowal, they would run away from them. Meaning run away from these thoughts. How to do it, how to run away from the thoughts of the Egyptians all the time?
R. By holding on to each other.
S. How do we hold on to each other?
R. Through connection.
S. We have this exercise where we are sitting in the preparation for the lesson. We are sitting quietly and, specifically, here in this exercise, we can hold, and warm each other up. Still, I feel the thoughts of the Egyptians jump through my head. Even though we're sitting with the friends, our whole world Kli, nevertheless, sometimes thoughts of Egyptians pop in. How to remove them, what is the technique?
R. We do not want to push them away, we want to work with them. It is good that they jump, all of these desires and thoughts that pop out.
S. What does it mean to work with them?
R. Well, as much as possible not to throw them away. But rather to understand what it is that they want and what do I do, should I listen to them, or not listen to them, and create the opposite form? And then it becomes clear to you where you are.
S. Meaning, I need to understand why they come to me. Who's sending it to me? Understanding the system, that means working with them?
R. Of course, this is how the Creator teaches us.
9. S. (54:07) He writes, “How shall I know that I will inherit it.” And it says, your seed will be strangers in the land not their own. And then they come out with a great possession. This is the security for the inheritance of the land. We have this feeling that we're about to come to it, we are almost within reach. But according to what he's writing here we have to go through a process, an inner process. A long one, I don’t know, long one or not, but a long process, and only when we finish it, we will acquire great vessels and have the ability to receive. The question is how to work correctly with this state? On the one hand, understand that we are going through a process here. We are constantly on it; we’re not thinking of when it’s going to be over. Or is okay to think, when will it be over? I want to attain. How to relate to it correctly?
R. We relate correctly to each and every stage we go through in order to keep our inclination, and in this way, to advance gradually.
S. What does it mean to advance gradually? How do we advance gradually?
R. Because in each and every stage, on this long way, in each stage there are also stages that resemble the entire path. And so, in each and every stage, we have to build the correct relations towards reception and bestowal, toward the Creator and us, and the Egyptians within us. And so, we advance through these small steps.
S. We are on this path now, in this work. Many times, these Egyptians pop with their questions, what's happening, what will you attain, it looks the same, we’ve been doing it for a long time, and the result is the same. How to work with the Egyptians in this process?
R. We want to add greater and greater forces so that we can work against the Egyptians; and later on, even with the Egyptians. But towards the right goal.
S. Where do we get the powers? You said we accumulate greater forces. Where are they, these greater forces?
R. Within us. That when we receive in each and every state, there is a side to here and a side to there. Towards the Creator and also towards the Egyptians.
S. We receive a state, let's say right now, you invest. You look back and you see that as far as results go, it's pretty similar. How do we take that and do what you just said? That you see the Egyptians and you run away? How do you do this action?
R. I want to see what there is ahead of me. Then according to what I see ahead of me, I sort out my situation.
S. What's ahead of me, meaning is what he wrote here. That the goal in the end is to receive the great vessels. Is this what's ahead of me?
R. Yes.
S. And see where I am relative to that, check myself?
R. Yes.
10. S. (58:23) When we say that the intention of in order to receive becomes revealed more and more, it means to say that we don't limit ourselves more and more with this intention. Meaning there are no limits?
R. How can you limit it?
S. We don't limit it.
R. How can you limit it?
S. I don’t know but this is what becomes revealed. Actually, we are willing to receive to ourselves without any limits. Meaning we don't have any limit where we say thus far. Meaning this limit keeps expanding, is that correct?
R. Keep going?
S. The question is when such an intention becomes revealed to us more and more. This is actually a deficiency to ask for a correction over this intention, is that right?
R. I did not understand.
S. When we discover we want to receive into ourselves more and more, our intention is for ourselves. This, in itself, becomes a deficiency for correction over it, right?
R. Not necessarily.
S. So it's only a potential for a deficiency, it's not really a deficiency?
R. Keep going.
S. I have no continuation, this is what I wanted to ask.
R. I could not get anything out of it.
11. S. (59:55) It turns out that with these vessels of settling for little, the people didn’t need the Creator’s help. But out of the suffering, out of the slavery, they reached a state where they were willing to come out. Specifically, with the vessels of the Egyptians, only there they can ask for help. This is why the Creator tells Moses they should go and borrow these vessels.
R. I cannot answer this.
S. The need to borrow the vessels of the Egyptians, is it in order to get out of Egypt? Or so that later on, to get into the land of Israel? What is the inheritance of the land?
R. Yes, in order to reach the land of Israel.
S. Meaning before we even go out of Egypt, we must have this vessel, so that later on they will be able to enter the land of Israel?
R. The Creator is above everything, and He is running this entire process. Using these forces, the forces of Egyptians, the forces of Israel, and so forth.
S. Is this why it is hidden from them, this need? In Egypt, they don't yet even understand what it is all about.
R. In Egypt, they certainly do not understand what it is talking about. It is revealed gradually through them after they exit from Egypt.
12. S. (01:01:37) What is actually all of these great possessions that we need to receive or that we do receive?
R. You need to receive from this entire process great possessions. Meaning, that each time you receive a more accurate direction toward what you are developing. Using which forces are you developing? What is the relationship between Egypt and the exodus from Egypt? When you start to discern all those things then you begin to become worthy to come out.
S. We come to the lesson here every day. Today we were sitting in the preparation, and we told ourselves, a friend was telling me. I mean, we tell ourselves too, well, tell each other in the preparation. We say we have the best conditions to reach wherever we need to reach the goal. And I ask myself, is this truly the possession that we get? That every day we come here, and we tell ourselves that we have the best condition to advance and reach the goal, here together? Is this how we should look at it each day, anew?
R. If you would connect here, those of you who are sitting here together. You would be, you would shoot like a missile through several worlds.
13. S. (01:03:50) According to what we know from the story, at the end as a result of the entire process of Egypt, despair is created out of our forces and we cried to the Creator to deliver them, to bring them out. According to what he writes here, in the last paragraph, “Now we can understand what we asked how the matter was turned from one end to the other since the writing says, ‘and they detested the sons of Israel,’ meaning they we are as thorns, and afterward, ‘And the Lord gave the people’s favor in the eyes of the Egyptians.’ Wanting to hear their questions, gave ‘favor’ because they thought they were going their way. ‘And the Lord gave the people's favor’ by telling them to borrow vessels from them since this is what the Egyptians wanted.” So, what I understand is that they took from the Egyptians, all of this time, was the questions of who and what. And all the time, they try to overcome, and until eventually, they realize that their only chance to overcome them, overcome these questions of who and what, was is to cry out to the Creator. This is actually the process that they go through in Egypt, is this the process and the vessels and what we are accumulating all the time are these questions of who and what?
R. “And the children of Israel sighed from the work.”
S. As a result of the questions of who and what?
R. Yes.
14. S. (01:05:25) They managed to get out of Egypt, and they took their vessels. They work with them, they enjoy them, and they get a filling, so they borrow them. But they don't want to give them back, they keep enjoying them. He writes at the end the article, saying, this gave favor in the eyes of the Egyptians. The Egyptians said, okay, take them. We took all the vessels, we received the Torah, we reached the land of Israel, and we kept enjoying.
R. No, we ran away from the Egyptians.
S. But those same vessels, we still hold on to them.
R. We hold on to them, yes, and?
S. That is it. So, you see the same discernment of a servant, we keep enjoying it. It's a shell that holds on and does not let free. Here, too, in the entrance to the land of Israel, until this generation of slaves died, they could not enter.
R. You are right, but we have to keep going. We have to move forward.
15. S. (01:07:06) I'm trying to connect what we read in this article and what we learn in other places, other sources. There are many degrees in spirituality and here it describes the stage where, in every degree, we have to do what we read now to get out of Egypt.
R. No, only one time.
S. Only once?
R. Only once.
S. The vessels that they acquired now, they still need to correct them and place, have a screen on them?
R. Yes, yes, they have to raise them higher and higher.
16. S. (01:08:1) Does each time borrowing and emptying the Egyptian's desires increase our Kelim and as a result of that, the deficiency doubles all the time?
R. Yes.
S. The people of Israel borrowed the Egyptian's desires and not the intentions in order to increase the Kelim to be able to receive in order to bestow?
R. Yes.
17. S. (01:08:46) After the light is revealed in the vessel, by what is pushed out? Why does it depart?
R. The light that is revealed is revealed and becomes the foundation for the next degree.
S. Why does it depart?
R. So that you will begin to climb to the next degree.
S. What force expels it?
R. You reveal it in the next degree as the new light.
18. S. (01:09:28) How practically do we correct the Egyptians' vessels? Each one lives in their individual Egypt and at the same time we are connected to the friends, to the lesson, seemingly these are two different worlds. How do we take vessels from one world and correct them?
R. You try, each one with his vessels, to connect to the other friends. In this way, you will be able to feel between you this common vessel, this mutual vessel. This mutual vessel will pull you up.
S. This means that we do not take the Egyptians' vessels on purpose, but they come and attach themselves to us?
R. Well, we will see, later on, what we are taking and what will come to our hands by itself.
19. S. (01:10:41) It turns out that we need to feel this limit all the time. The limits of the will to receive will constantly push us and show us that we have to go in the opposite direction so that reception does not quench our thirst?
R. Yes.
20. S. (01:11:22) What does this borrowing of these vessels of the Egyptians actually mean? Does it mean borrowing deeper impurities every time?
R. We borrow vessels, in the vessel there is quantity and quality. We borrow them and use them as much as we can. And a part of them we give back and a part we keep. We will see later what to do with the vessels of the Egyptians.
S. What does it mean to actually give it back? What is this point of giving back?
R. We are giving back, meaning that we stopped using it, that is the meaning of giving them back.
21. S. (01:12:22) Do the Egyptians with their Kelim tell Israel what they are to serve the Creator with?
R. Yes.
22. S. (01:13:00) How can a person be sure that he is taking the silver and gold vessels of the Egyptians for the purpose of bestowal without falling into a lie?
R. How does he take it? He simply takes the desires, thoughts, aspirations, and goals. And he sees how he can use them to advance.
23. S. (01:14:26) What remains of the vessel that afterward we give back to the Egyptians? Should there be the awareness that to give we have to receive?
R. Yes.
24. S. (01:14:51) In our work, we constantly look for opportunities to increase the desire, to find the desire to bestow. Here in the article, there is advice that the best way to increase the desire is to fall into the ego. So, is that how it turns out?
R. You do not just fall into the ego, just like that.
S. Yes, that is why there is the question. Where is the certainty that when I fall there, Moses and Aaron will come out and pull me out of that place, with the big desires that I have?
R. It depends on the way that you work. You have to go down into the ego with the right intention, with the hope of extracting new vessels out of there. That, with them, you can advance onward.
S. In this, it was like that in the state of exile, that the intention still remained so there wasn’t complete fulfillment?
R. Yes, that is why we feel the exile.
25. S. (01:16:23) The questions, who and what, are lack of the pleasure?
R. Repeat, please.
S. The questions of who and what by the Egyptians, are they lack of pleasure? Is it more important to answer these questions in the practical work through bestowing in order to bestow?
R. Okay, yes.
26. S. (01:17:16) I heard you say that if we connected here, everyone is here now, we would go like a rocket through the worlds.
R. Well, yes.
S. What does it mean that everyone unites here and now?
R. If we were to unite above our ego, that it would be revealed in its fullest. Then we would be aimed toward our final goal.
S. What I'm trying to understand is, practically, what does it mean that we connect? Even if I don't know if there's a small percent of ego revealed between us. What does it mean now in practice we use this minute and connect?
R. Each and every one with that small ego that is in him, makes a decision that he uses it only in order to connect with the friends, to bestow.
S. So, in order to have a connection, there is a decision that each one makes within himself, on one hand?
R. Yes, in order to connect with the others, not from himself.
S. So, each one makes a decision, I'm making decisions in order to connect with the friends. But how do we make this connection happen?
R. I want to cause a connection and from that, I restrict myself and make of myself anything I need to in order to connect with the others.
S. So, this connection that we attain, does it depend on the individual in the end? Meaning each one achieves the connection?
R. Yes, each and every one.
S. So, where's the Creator here in this process of attending the connection?
R. You attain Him by yearning to be in connection.
S. We make the connection, or He makes it on us?
R. No, you perform the connection, and you make the Creator.
S. We make the connection?
R. Yes.
S. By each one's decision we make the connections.
R. You can only ask. But you asking, that is the action.
S. If I try to spread it into actions that each one needs to do. Each one has to make a decision to go above his ego for the sake of the connection and ask. Is this the action we need to do?
R. You are now going to ask for connection with the friends so that you will have a vessel to reveal the Creator, so the Creator will get contentment in it.
S. A question about the article regarding the borrowing of the vessels: In our process, we want to obtain the vessels of bestowal. But in the exodus from Egypt, we borrow vessels from Egyptians. So where do the vessels of bestowal come from if we take the vessels from the Egyptians?
R. I do not understand. Israel supposedly has no vessels. When they are in Egypt and want to come out of Egypt, they start feeling how the vessels of the Egyptians start gluing to us, and that’s it. Now when they want to come out, they take the Egyptians' vessels.
S. So, what are the vessels of bestowal if we have no Kelim, no vessels? Where are the acts of bestowal if there are no vessels to Israel?
R. When they come out?
S. Why are they taking vessels from the Egyptians?
R. They do not have desires to receive.
S. What does it mean they have no will to receive? Everything is will to receive?
R. They do not have big desires to receive. They do not have anything to run out of Egypt with, they have no reason.
S. So, they take the vessels from the Egyptians so that we have big desires?
R. Yes.
S. Where do the vessels of bestowal come in? Why do we need the vessels of bestowal if, in the end, they take the vessels from the Egyptians?
R. From the Egyptians they get vessels of reception.
S. Right, so my question is, in this process, where do they obtain vessels of bestowal?
R. Vessels of bestowal, they get by praying and gradually correct those vessels that they have.
S. But do they obtain them regardless of what they took from the Egyptians? Or is it part of this process of taking vessels from the Egyptians?
R. It is part of the process. Soon, soon.
27. S. (01:23:09) This process is clear but why did you just say that they're taking fillings? They’re taking vessels, that's clear, but why are they taking fillings? They're different things, the vessels and the fillings?
R. Where did I say that?
S. You said that from Egypt they did take the fillings.
R. Yes.
S. Is it the same thing, the vessels, and the fillings? I understood that they were taking vessels. Afterward, when they correct them, they put the intention and then there's the filling in order to bestow.
R. Correct.
S. Why did you say, at the beginning of the lesson, that they take fillings from the Egyptians?
R. Because the fillings of the Egyptians are the desires to receive with the filling in order to receive. And such vessels are what they take from the Egyptians, then they correct them in order to bestow and fill those vessels with lights in order to bestow.
S. That is clear, so vessels and fillings are two different discernments?
R. Yes.
S. They're taking vessels from the Egyptians, not filings?
R. Yes.
28. S. (01:24:37) What is there in the vessels of the Egyptians that was not there in the desire to receive of Israel that there was not before? Is it quantity?
R. In the vessels of the Egyptians are types of fulfillments that are not in Israel.
S. That’s clear but potential fillings when they are corrected. Right now, it’s impossible to use it because it’s in order to receive.
R. Yes.
S. Is there a trigger here that from a certain measure, the size of the vessel that makes a person ask? What creates this delta? Why is it so important to take the vessels from the Egyptians because it seems critical in the process that is explained here?
R. It is big vessels.
S. It is clear that they are big, so ostensibly, it's a matter of advancing on the path. Because it seems that there's an inversion point here. Where the vessels of the Egyptians forced Israel to ask in a different way. It pushed them to the edge and “their cry went up,” which they didn't have before. Meaning the vessels, they had before were small, they did not push them to turn to the Creator enough. So, there's something here that seems that, how it seems to me, but it seems like that there's a tipping point here?
R. The tipping point is that the vessels of the Egyptians are already connected to a different degree of in order to receive, different coarseness. More than what it was before and that is actually the reason that the sons of Israel entered Egypt.
S. Yes, and this is very important. The whole story is that they go to Egypt and get to a state of “their cry went up to God,” and “they sigh from the work.” But why only in these vessels is there something that pushes them to that state?
R. Coarseness, a very great coarseness that can be taken care of only by a greater upper light. Then, they can come out of there with great assets.
S. And before that?
R. Before that they were little lights, little vessels.
S. The process is not scrutinized, right? So, it's not just a matter of quantity but a level of scrutiny in Egypt. Because they are pushed to the edge.
R. Yes, of course.
29. S. (01:27:33) It seems like there are two forces that force a person to grow, that can’t keep them in the state. On one hand, it's a force that increases doubts and questions of who and what. He says that he's all will to receive. On the other hand, a force awakens on it, let's call it a holy soul of the Ten, that sends him to faith above reason and to return to be to want to bestow, so to speak. This is how the desire grows and a person’s ability to bestow indefinitely. It seems pretty surprising that this force sends a person to Egypt, that’s the Creator. And the force takes the Egyptians’ vessels is Moses and Aaron. It’s as if the side of the study increases a person’s doubts. And the side of the friends and another force that comes from above, the prayer, allows a person to overcome the doubts. I’m trying to put it into previous articles, he kept repeating that “the person is a small world.” Everything is happening inside of us, all these inner movements. How do we relate to, from the study we get new vessels, new deficiencies, new doubts from the study, we get doubts? These questions because it doesn't come to a person beforehand?
R. Of course it comes from the study, so what is the problem? You study about your state, and you want to scrutinize your state. Then you see a part of it but the other part you do not see. And then you start scrutinizing to sort things out.
S. It is as if each time the study comes to show you the truth and the truth is that is you are the will to receive. And on top of it, another process occurs which is also may be part of the study, but in the Ten and those who give strength to go against the will to receive or above it. This process, does it have an end? Is there a point where it is completed and you can say now, I'm balanced, or is it infinite? These movements that constantly shake us, is there a point when a person says I understood, I’ve got it?
R. No, no, it will not be in it and you do not need that.
S. So the inner struggle is endless and certain?
R. I do not know about endless. I did not reach a degree where it is infinite or endless.
30. S. (01:30:56) Can we understand what is Israel in the Ten? Because we help each other and constantly think all the time of how to be straight to the Creator, how to make this accurate. But what are the Egyptians in the Ten?
R. In each and every one there's part of them.
S. In each one, that’s obvious, but I'm not looking for the Egyptians in the friends, I'm only looking for the Israel in the friends?
R. Okay, but also Israel you also see the Egyptian behind it.
S. But I don't want to hear him and listen to him?
R. Maybe the opposite, maybe specifically, him you do want to listen to and not listen to Israel?
S. Right, that is according to our nature.
R. So?
S. Our work is specifically to hear and see Israel in the Ten.
R. Yes.
S. So what does it mean that suddenly turns and we say, yes, let's borrow vessels from these Egyptians?
R. Will to receive you have to take it from the Egyptians. The will to receive is something that you have to receive. Israel does not have vessels; they only have intentions. To the extent that you have the intentions to bestow, you need the Egyptians to take their desires from them and use their desires to receive in order to bestow.
S. But first we have to have the confidence that Israel is strong enough.
R. First you work on the desires of Israel, which are Katnut, smallness.
S. When do we come to a state where Israel is so strong that we can say, let’s take a little bit from the Egyptians and see what happens?
R. You see that you do not have any more vessels to bestow with. All the vessels to bestow that you have used and then you have to start working with the vessels of reception in order to bestow.
S. So, it's a clear phase, that we have no choice, we have to touch the Egyptians?
R. Yes.
31. S. (01:33:21) All the questions from Pharaoh and the resistance, is it because of lack of pleasure? So, maybe it is more important now, the refinement of our vessels on the practical work between us? Maybe this is the practical work between us. Is this our practical work now, this refinement?
R. Yes.
S. To add to my question, maybe we should make a precision about this state so that we do not receive anything above reason. We will have nothing, and I need to agree with that?
R. No, we will have what we will receive and make vessels to bestow to the Creator from them.
S. But if I receive it's no longer.
R. No, that is after the restrictions when you build your vessels that through them you can bestow to the Creator.
S. I do want to bestow to the Creator through my vessels of reception. But before that, according to what I read here, it says that the people believe and hear, meaning with faith above reason. They did not need anything, and they had no need for higher degrees. So, it seems like we have to be that missile that you were talking about, that rocket, that intention?
R. Of course, we want to bestow everything that we can to the Creator.
S. So, that means I need to be prepared to give everything?
R. Yes.
S. Even to think, I know that I cannot for sure. But to think that I’m prepared to be giving everything?
R. Yes, as much as you can.
S. Also that needs to be a social effort, right?
R. True.
32. S. (01:36:08) Here in the article the whole process seems paradoxical. On the one hand, the people of Israel approach the state of exiting Egypt. Disconnection from all the egoistic desires, all the intentions to receive. And specifically, the point of disconnection the Creator demands from Israel to approach those vessels again, that they want to run away from and take those vessels. How come?
R. You run away from Egypt, not with the vessels but with the intentions. That is why when you sort out the desires and thoughts that you have, you know who you remain with and who you separate from.
S. So the exodus from Egypt is running away from the intentions to receive?
R. Yes.
S. On the other hand, taking the raw desires of the Egyptians in order to work with them in the future?
R. No, not like the initial ones. It is what you sort out so that you can be able to ascribe to in order to bestow.
S. Even though here he writes that the vessels will not truly remain in them, because the vessels are the thoughts and desires that don't really belong to Israel but are only a temporary borrowing.
R. Yes, and then they give it back.
S. When did they give it back, by the way?
R. The main thing is to come out of Egypt, afterwards they are free. That is why we will learn how to bring them back.
S. It's a multi-layer process that repeats itself at each degree. Later on, there’s the golden calf, and the forty years in the desert, which is again acquiring vessels of bestowal. It seems like it’s the same process but on a deeper level of desires?
R. Yes.
33. S. (01:38:42) It seems like the process of exiting Egypt is the second restriction. Or maybe we shouldn’t get into it?
R. Do not confuse us.
34. S. (01:39:10) He writes, “That was all deliberate and the Creator created a vessel for this purpose so that each time it would be the state of beginning, and it is known that all beginnings are hard.” I wanted to ask regarding the beginning of the lesson. When we begin, there's a feeling of many desires, as we said before, desires of Egypt. The more the lesson advances, we feel, I feel at least, that there are fewer and fewer desires and hardly, there’s nothing. There’s a desire for connection, there's a field that we built, like a protecting wall, that nothing enters, nothing penetrates, that’s the feeling.
R. Yes.
S. I wanted to ask what is this process that from the moment we come with our foreign thoughts and gradually we build something here. What is this thing that we're building here?
R. Society!
S. This force, what is this force?
R. This force is called, society.
S. This force, we can create it here together and it guards us, protects us, it focuses us. How can we, first of all, is it possible during the day to create a situation where we also feel this force, this wall?
R. Just like you build it in the morning, do not separate from it throughout the day.
S. Don't separate, meaning, keep it and do things to keep it once we create it, just maintain it?
R. Yes.
35. S. (01:41:03) Do the people of Israel need the vessels of the Egyptians in order to come out of Egypt?
R. Yes.
36. S. (01:41:46) I did not understand the matter of Haman in the article. When does Haman appear? And why does he appear?
R. Haman when he appears it is one of the main evil forces. That he appears in articles or in the Torah, when he shows his participation throughout the process of creation, yes.
37. S. (01:42:50) The torments, that they were tortured, does that become pains of love?
R. No.
S. It’s not like that?
R. No, it does not seem to me.
S. What is the difference between the inheriting of the land and the personal individual end of correction?
R. You are asking questions that just to scrutinize every question, it will take us time. How can you ask that?
S. It seems to me like inheriting the land, when you enter the land of Israel, it’s like your personal final correction, no?
R. No, you do not jump on definitions like that.
38. S. (01:43:57) Regarding the vessels of the Egyptians. In the beginning, when we try to connect, it seems like each friend has a big ego. Over time, the ego of friends started diminishing and the deficiency for connection grew. But the more the deficiency for connection grows, the more you feel that we lack it. The vessels of the Egyptians the friends have are not so big, anymore. The feeling is that the more, the smaller we become in spirituality, the more there is a desire to receive vessels from the Egyptians. So, the question is can we, when we receive the vessels of the Egyptians, check accurately our intention? And feel that the deficiency is actually growing the deficiency that is required in spirituality? Meaning is this a tipping point?
R. Yes.
S. Can we see it from the outside in order to grow in spirituality?
R. Yes, you are right. Keep developing in that direction.
39. S. (01:45:46) Usually the Creator uses imperatives, like go from your country. Here in the article, he suddenly says, please, which is a request or suggestion. What is this difference?
R. In order for us to go deeper into the discernments.
40. S. (01:46:16) I want to see if I understand correctly. The great possession with which they come out of Egypt is only vessels. And the filling they get afterward is in the land of Israel?
R. Yes.
S. When they talk about vessels of silver and of gold their only desires not fillings.
R. Yes.
S. Now in the Ten, if we want to do the same work, when we talk about envy, lust, and honor. Is it also about acquiring coarseness from the friends for example?
R. Yes.
S. So, when you talk about connecting, you said before, we connected now we’d go through the worlds like a rocket. So, what are we connecting? We’re connecting the friends' desires to bestow or to receive through the coarseness?
R. We are connecting the friends’ desires to bestow between the friends. From them the desire to bestow to the Creator.
S. So, where is the coarseness? Where is it coming, envy, lust, and honor?
R. Inside.
S. I don't understand, it seems the opposite to me. I think a friend asked how to make the connection happen. You said I want to make the restriction happen, myself. If I restrict myself, it's the opposite of acquiring coarseness from the friends.
R. No, that is not the way it works. Envy, lust, and honor, when you restrict, it is as if you do not have it. Envy, lust, and honor, that you, specifically, want to open them in order to be filled. So, you connect them to those same vessels of envy, lust, and honor of the friends. From that, you build a great coarseness; and from that common coarseness, you can bestow contentment to the Creator.
S. From what am I impressed in the friend? I get from the envy, lust, and honor?
R. From their vessels.
S. What vessels?
R. Vessels of envy, lust, and honor.
S. I don't understand, what does it mean? I want to envy their envy. I don’t understand.
R. We have read, the author’s envy will bring wisdom and all kinds of wisdom. How, envy, lust, and honor are vessels that, with their help, by using them, we can bestow to the friends.
S. Yes, so what am I jealous of? I always thought I envy a friend who has a bigger desire than I do. Or a greater love of friends than I do. Good qualities that I see he has more than I do.
R. It is small raw things, but envy, lust, and honor are already closer to the connection between us.
S. What does it mean, what do I envy in the end?
R. Think about it till tomorrow.
41. S. (01:49:55) We have two forces: The force of the Creator, which gives us more connection and the desire to be together; and the force of Pharaoh, which repels people from connection. Our work, the work of the Creator, is it to receive these desires and elevate them to the Creator. And is this all our work? I don't know how to say it, but for the Creator to help us come closer to Him, approach Him.
R. Yes, okay. I think we should go to the next stage of the lesson.
