Part 1:

Baal HaSulam. The Arvut [Mutual Guarantee]

1. Rav’s Introduction: (00:39) This is a fundamental article, one of the articles Baal HaSulam wrote as a foundation, the bedrock of how to serve the Torah to the world and it's the first in Baal HaSulam’s plea, address to the world. Therefore, we need to understand both individually for each and every one of us and also generally for all of us together, us and the inhabitants of this world, please.

Reading the Arvut. (01:44) “All of Israel are responsible for one another..”

2. S. (08:55) In what should each friend be responsible for his friends?

R. By feeling that his friend has something that he needs in order to keep, to maintain the Arvut [mutual guarantee] the responsibility. We don't need to help one another other than to help keep the Arvut because there is nothing that is more needed so each one looks at the other, how can I help and keep it?

S. What does it mean to keep the Arvut between us?

R. To have the power and uplifted spirit, security, more confidence to know that everyone is engaged in it and this is our individual and our collective work.

S. And as part of the Arvut what should I demand of the friends for me?

R. To set an example for me, to strengthen me on the path.

S. What is this act of “we will do and we will hear?” What happens on this occasion that didn't happen before?

R. “We shall do and we shall hear” means that first we need to do all kinds of actions according to the Torah’s recommendation and then we get to the state of, “we shall hear," meaning we can feel the other, we can bestow to him.

S. And what does the Torah demand as part of the Arvut? When do we receive the Torah?

R. To the extent that we demand to rise above our will to receive, above the powers that separate us, for that we need the power that will raise us above our ego and connect us and this power is called Torah.

3. S. (11:43) It is said that there is a part of Israel that are concerned with themselves, if they are Israel how can they be concerned about themselves?

R. Yes, but he says that this is how things were historically on the path to keeping the Arvut, mutual responsibility, there were such people out of the total society that still did not understand, did not feel, could not perceive the principle.

S. Yes, but why are they called Israel?

R. Because that was that group, that nation.

S. It's just that in the beginning it says that the Egyptians disrupted them?

R. One who is not Israel is someone who cares for himself, one who is called Israel is on the path in some shape or form to caring for the other, that’s it, it's not a matter of nationality

4. S. (13:25) What does it mean to observe the mutual responsibility?

R. To keep or to observe the mutual responsibility means that I do everything within my power to connect us and to support all the friends. Where although we are seemingly in one boat that might sink. Nevertheless, we are willing to hold it, to keep it together by ensuring everyone cares for the other and not for himself. Not for himself meaning that he maintains the restriction and he cares for the other, meaning he is developing the force of bestowal.

5. S. (14:32) It seems like in the text, he emphasizes the integrality, this mutuality, this reciprocity of the mutual responsibility that if some fall, everyone falls, that everyone must agree etc.. The question is how do we in the ten become this reciprocity?

R. You are not helped by the matter itself but how you can observe it under our current conditions and here I recommend to you to investigate this matter and understand what we can add. How can we understand more deeply what Baal HaSulam recommends we do?

S. Meaning as..?

R. When we have tens and we meet and we talk and we study and we try with all of the externality involved to maintain the connection between us and it is possible as we see that it's not enough, insufficient to bond us with the ties of Arvut, of mutual responsibility. That is something external but it lacks the inner push for us to understand that to reach such a connection we need help from above, we need to turn to the Creator to do it, to give it to us, all these qualities that go against our ego, they come to us from above, from the Creator. And the Creator says, “I have created the evil inclination, that's it, that's what the Creator did and “I have created the Torah as a spice,” is following that, according to the demand: it is a spice that you add to a main dish. Therefore, we need together all of us, as we learn and meet and gather, we have to try and think about it. How can we reach such a connection where each one will feel what everyone is lacking and each one will raise himself to the degree of necessity in Arvut.

S. In other words the exercises should be about how each one belongs to the ten, how my ascents belong to the ten and how my descents belong to the ten?

R. Yes, that too.

S. Is it correct to say that the evil inclination is specifically against reciprocity? It closes a person within, that I belong to myself?

R. When the Creator created the evil inclination it gave us an opportunity to discover what we are lacking to reach wholeness, perfection, meaning it is a gift whereby we can discover, we can detect and feel what we are lacking in order to be connected between us “as one man in one heart” and by that we are adhered to the Creator.

S. Detecting the evil inclination or the sense of the recognition of evil, as he calls it in ‘Matan Torah,’ does that come specifically from exercises of reciprocity, when we try to do it?

R. Yes, the main thing is to discover what prevents us from being “as one man with one heart” and if we will be aimed at that trying to come closer to it in our hearts, we will detect the evil inclination as a partner. It has to be there, although we reject it, we seemingly hate it but we also understand that without that force we stand no chance to reach the connection that the Creator demands of us.

S. So when we find it and feel it, it is like a great find. It is an element on which we can finally code it, direct it?

R. Yes, as the Creator says seemingly full of pride: “I have created the evil inclination,” we now have the means to reach from the force of disturbance and separation to unity.

6. S. (20:25) You said before as I heard it, that the way to give mutual responsibility is through example and by strengthening the friends?

R. That's what Baal HaSulam recommends.

S. Now there are states in the ten where friends grow weaker and not every friend is always at his best. I am asking about situations when you are not 100% so you think you can't give mutual responsibility to the friends. So in those states when you are not 100%, you are 70%, how can you still give strength to the friends?

R. Strengthen the connection between everyone and enter between everyone. Whatever you can give them no one else can give them and this is true for each and everyone until we construct the general mutual responsibility in such a way that it suffices for everyone.

S. So each friend should know that even if he can't come each day, he has to know that he has something special that he can give to the friends, even if he is not in a situation where it seems like he's giving to the friends?

R. Maybe, this is not the best example although it's relevant.  Nevertheless, we need to understand that the Arvut, the mutual responsibility starts with things that we can technically, physically keep. So come to the lesson, there needs to be no doubt that we must do it, we simply must do it. And all the rest we need to check that this group action forces each one to participate in it fully.

7. S. (22:47) Before everything else he asks us if we agree. First of all, if there is agreement, what is this agreement? What should I tell myself each day? What should I agree to?

R. That you are grateful to the Creator for revealing to you your situation, your state in society that you are all as if in one boat and you are obligated toward the others to reach a safe haven and you have someone to turn to, the Creator and to ask him for connection and the power to maintain this group, this boat, in such a way that you will reach the goal.

S. Can it be said that an agreement is a situation, a state of the whole group of the whole Kli, a state where we say, “we agree,” or do I tell myself each moment, “I agree” just like that?

R. No, they give it to you in the beginning and you keep it all the way through.

8. S. (24:30) He touches in the article and we also feel it in the work in the ten, that if foreign influence enters the work in the ten, if a person brings something from the outside, it blemishes the mutual responsibility. What should each friend be careful not to bring into the ten?

R. Doubts, foreign spirit, you have to really be meticulous about reinforcing the Arvut, mutual responsibility.

9. S. (25:25) On the one hand he writes that I have to keep the mutual responsibility towards the friend. On the other hand, the friend, if the friends don't keep the mutual responsibility toward them I can't do it toward them. Which comes first: I toward the friends or the friends towards me?

R. I keep the Arvut and I don't expect the friends to keep it; rather everything depends on me only.

S. And what allows us to make this inversion where it’s as if I make efforts until I come to a state where I can keep the mutual responsibility, if mutual responsibility doesn't come from the friends first?

R. I don't expect mutual responsibility from the friends, I expect to give to the society what is needed, what I can give them, what am I capable of giving and if or rather after I relate to them in this way I can check if I can add anything? What can I add and if I am going to check how much they are giving the Arvut and how they are supporting me, I will not be able to keep the mutual responsibility myself.

S. So what does make this final change that allows a person to uphold the mutual responsibility?

R. When he's not looking at anyone else but he's doing it himself.

10. S. (27:05) What does it mean to feel what everyone needs?

R. What everyone needs is the Arvut, the mutual responsibility, mutual connection where each one supports the others and in the connection between us we reveal the Creator.

S. So we have to develop a sensitivity, that the friends need it from me? What does it mean to feel?

R. Yes, it means that each one has a deficiency to feel my support.

S. It says difficult things regarding falling into self-love?

R. Yes.

S. What is good about it? What do you do if you fall into self-love?

S. I grow stronger and I rise, I climb out of it like from a deep pit. I raise myself, prayer, support through the friends.

11. S. (28:13) I wanted to ask: what is this condition that he has to take upon himself, the commandment of loving others?

R. That from the very beginning, if we connect, that first connection between us, where there’s still no inner connection, we commit to reach the general force of nature; we can reveal it and identify it only through love of others.

S. So what is the act of agreement when I agree to take up on myself love of others?

R. To be “as one man in one heart,” to support one another, to reach mutual responsibility, “love your friend as yourself.” You have plenty of those advices.

S. But I'm asking about the act of agreeing. On what does a person's ability to agree, to take upon himself the commandment of loving others, on what does it depend?

R. The point in the heart, we start from that, he has a point in the heart that is pulling him to reveal the center of creation.

S. He continues in the beginning of the article and writes that we have to care and work for all of the members of the nation to satisfy all of their needs. What exactly do you need to feel to satisfy, what are their needs?

R. I need to try and help them accept the conditions for reaching the complete correction.

S. So when I focus on satisfying their needs I focus only on what brings them to correction? What should I focus on?

R. Focus on everything that they need in order to reach correction. I try to supply them with that.

S. Clear, and what does it mean that I become one of the members of the nation, as he said, “each of the members of the nation?”

R. That I'm willing to be in Arvut with them, mutual responsibility.

S. So my willingness turns me into?

R. Turns you into a friend.

S. Okay, clear. In this act where it says they agreed unanimously and said “we will do and we will hear?”

R. Not everyone is ready to keep the mutual responsibility between them.

S. But we said we shouldn’t wait for everyone to be ready for it, and here it says that until they all agreed unanimously and said, “we will do and we will hear.”

R. Yes but it is not happening all at once, one does it before, another does it later, there are various conditions, it is a process.

S. Clear. So the peak of the process is to agree unanimously, right?

R. Yes, to reach general agreement.

S. What does it mean unanimously? In Hebrew, it is called one mouth, unanimously?

R. Unanimously is one desire, one force, one screen, one action where everyone connects to such a degree that they work from this point to the Creator?

S. How do we calibrate ourselves to be as one, so that there is no difference?

R. We have to think about it more and it gets clarified.

12. S. (32:28) It says that there is a condition where you can receive the mutual responsibility only after you come out of Egypt because in Egypt you are still influenced by foreign influences and then you can receive it. What does it mean for us?

R. For us it means that before we come out of the will to receive, we truly, we can't keep the mutual responsibility because some of my desires are given to the evil inclination. I can't come out of Egypt. I am still under the rule of Pharaoh.

S. But we want the mutual responsibility now, we work in that direction now already?

R. We work in that direction, it is also written about the children of Israel in Egypt that they were drawn, attracted to the exodus and Moses escaped Egypt. Hence, there are many actions before the exodus.

S. He says “then they became one nation.” What does it mean, one nation?

R. One nation means that everyone thinks, understands, feels that they have a single goal and they can attain it only through mutual support.

S. And before that they are not one nation but the fact that they want to come to it is still not regarded as one nation?

R. No, no they call it a family in the beginning and later everyone was distant from one another. Moses ran off to Jethro. We will learn about all of those points but it is not important. What is important is that they understand in this process that they have no choice, no other choice but to be as one body.

13. S. (34:58) If I have to give mutual responsibility, regardless of whether I receive, it says in item 17, that those that refuse in mutual responsibility cause the rest of the nation to remain in their filth?

R. Because the complete mutual responsibility is something that you can do when everyone agrees to support one another and everyone, each one feels the other as part of himself and that's how they advance. Therefore, if there are those who do not feel the connection with others to such an extent, they seemingly prevent them from reaching the complete Arvut, the full mutual responsibility.

S. In an article of Rabash he says that there is only one thing that you can give which is high spirits or the spirit of vitality. Here it sounds like there is more, a greater demand that you have to give?

R. It's possible that that demand includes that as well.

S. So what should we give, this general obligation that I will support them with whatever they want or what?

R. Security, confidence.

S. Confidence that what?

R. Attaining the complete goal for everyone.

S. Because earlier you said that we have to feel what the friends need?

R. Only when you give them the feeling of confidence it also covers all other deficiencies.

S. It sounds different to give confidence like an open check.

R. I nullify with you.

S. I mean do we have to feel what they need without any such feeling?

R. I guess we have to feel it. We have to connect first to feel what they are lacking, where do they have any doubts, what prevents them from keeping the complete Arvut and then we have to add to that.

14. S. (37:07) Baal HaSulam is talking about three circles here. One is the individual, the other is the nation and the third is Israel. Who is the individual?

R. The individual is someone who's trying to come close to the purpose of life and he discovers that it goes through the keeping of the Arvut in that society that he is in.

S. Can we say that it is we?

R. Yes, we are in a society that is ready generally speaking to keep the Arvut in order to attain the purpose of life.

S. In that respect what is the nation?

R. The nation is the different degree of connection, when they understand more, they feel more, they are connected more.

S. And Israel?

R. Israel is the internal part of the nation that is aimed at the goal, they even have a certain grasp on it.

S. In other words the individual is something that we can take to realize on our own and the nation and Israel are more qualitative degrees?

R. Yes.

S. And when you talk about levels of confidence that we have to provide, what is the area of work, the field of work of each of us? Is it only the ten or the members of Bnei Baruch, let's say, who do I have to provide Arvut to?

R. First of all the ten and from that to learn how you influence them and how they respond to it, how do you connect to them and how together with them you come out of the boundaries of the ten, you work towards other tens.

S. And let's say another friend on the path, he is not in my ten, what kind of mutual responsibility do I have to provide him?

R. For the time being nothing, if he's not in the ten.

S. He's a friend on the path?

R. We are all friends, all of Israel are friends but the work in attaining the Arvut, the mutual responsibility has to happen first in the ten.

S. And the work in the ten does it provide mutual responsibility to all of the tens?

R. That's the next stage.

S. Is mutual responsibility an active action, meaning that a person has to actively search where he can add in giving mutual responsibility to the friends?

R. Yes.

15. S. (40:05) In the first paragraph it says that the Torah was not given to them before each and everyone in Israel was asked if he would take upon himself to care and work for each member of the nation, to satisfy all the needs, no less than the measure imprinted in him to care for his own needs. This question was asked after they came out of Egypt. Why only after the exodus from Egypt can we ask this question?

R. Because they weren't under Pharaoh’s control anymore.

S. I can't demand of myself or of others the matter of mutual responsibility before we come out of Egypt, before there's the revelation of evil for each and every one of us and for all its measure to keep this Mitzva?

R. You are controlled by Pharaoh, so how can you observe anything that has to do with the Torah?

S. Not only that, I have to recognise all the evil so that I can keep the entire Mitzva of “love your friend as yourself” to its full measure, as he writes, meaning a person has to be aware of everything that this commandment demands of him?

R. Yes.

S. I do not know what I do not know, I can keep the Arvut because of only what I know, is this because I am still in Egypt? When I come out of Egypt I will know everything the Torah demands of me?

R. In the exodus from Egypt you still don't know it either; you are advancing.

S. So what is this question? Why are they asked something that they cannot reply to, if they can keep to or not?

R. You need to try to muster strength to come out of Egypt, to advance beyond the Red Sea, advance in the desert until you come to Mount Sinai, and in all those stages you are still running, you are still in doubts, you are still in scrutinies.

S. Is it logical to ask a person he feels willing to keep the entire Torah?

R. No but he needs to know that he's going toward it. He doesn't know what the whole of the Torah is; he's still controlled by Pharaoh, partially, he is only running away from there. So there are still struggles here and doubts.

S. That's why I am not able to understand, why if he is willing to keep the Mitzva to the extent of the text, to all its measure, he has to understand this Mitzva and recognize it and to do it?

R. He cannot keep it but he must understand and agree as much as he can in those conditions. Agree to go for it, that he sees that this is what is before him.

S. It says that everyone has to agree to it, meaning everyone has to feel that they must keep this commandment one toward the other.

R. Yes.

S. Until they came out of Egypt and became a nation, how in the ten where I can feel like a complete nation?

R. When you don't feel that there is Pharaoh between you who wants to separate you and divide you and instil foreign thoughts in you and all kinds of inappropriate actions. This is called feeling yourselves as being controlled by the good force, the force of the Creator who is leading you to the reception of the Torah.

S. It's clear that there isn’t and how much of a disturbance it is, that Pharaoh is there and is not allowing us to keep the Torah. How do we advance, what actions here we need to have in order to advance from our state to move forward?

R. Only through connection between us, more and more. There is no other sign and no other action that we need to do.

16. S. (45:33) If a friend is in a state of disagreement can I connect to him internally and make him agree?

R. Perhaps but these are already different questions. Perhaps, could be, we will talk about it.

17. S. (45:55) I apologize for having to say this, this feeling in order to truly reach a need, a group need, we lack suffering, we lack a certain measure of suffering?

R. Don't worry if you need it, you will get it.

S. No, because the exodus from Egypt was possible only when they reached suffering. Most of the Jews where they came to a state, it was impossible to tolerate it, so they came out of Egypt. The receiving of the Torah also, either you connect or here will be your burial place. Throughout history you see that Jews connect only when the Creator places before them these Kings, we call them Kings but this help in order for them to understand and connect, connect and come out of their state, receiving of the state of Israel, everything that Baal HaSulam wrote. And now we are before this Kabbalist and we scrutinize such deficiencies that are seemingly minute. I don't understand how we have already been in that state, we had Pesach, [Passover] we had that same spirit, that reality that allowed us to connect and feel, let us feel that reality. I'm overly excited about it, I don't know how to express it, so I'm asking you again: in order to bring the group we have an opportunity, we have the power, we simply need to reach not agreement but to be together in it, that is what is lacking?

R. Yes, let us hear this from the groups abroad, outside groups, okay.

18. S. (48:28) How can I discover my worst desire so that I can come to a complete demand for the friends?

R. You don't need to want to reveal the bad desire, you want to reveal the good desire and when at the same time or instead of it a bad desire is revealed, it is revealed and then you try to work with it correctly. But you do not yearn to reveal the evil, no, no there is no such commandment, simply no such commandment.

19. S. (49:30) It is as if it is easier to think of love of friends and of the Arvut and the responsibility of taking care of the friends, it looks as if it is easier than you viewing your own, my own resistance, let's say, my own evil inclination and filthy self-love, as if I want to skip this whole sensation and I feel that something is in the way, what is happening here?

R. I'm not exactly sure what you are asking. We have to come to a state where we are connected “as one man with one heart.” That's it, this is what I yearn for.

S. What I'm trying to ask is, let’s say it is very important to discover your self-love, this lack, not being able to connect and that everything is in the way of not wanting to connect but it looks like it is easier?

R. Incorrect, incorrect, incorrect, incorrect. We are not going to discover anything negative ever. We are going to discover love, not self-love but love between us, connection between us, all the positive things. In the end we want to advance toward the Creator and when some disturbance or other disturbances are gradually revealed along the way, we learn how we need to go around them or go above them.

S. Why is it so that I constantly want to avoid seeing my filthy self-love?

R. That’s our work to come to know the evil inclination and from within it to know the good inclination.

20. S. (52:10) It says here interestingly, that even if they don't keep it, some people refuse to keep the mutual responsibility and remain in the filth of self love, they make the others also be in it. So, it turns out that if I'm thinking of myself and I'm not thinking of my friends I'm corrupting the ten?

R. Of course. Of course, by this you are lowering your ten from the spiritual to the corporeal level.

S.  Also in the opposite direction it is pretty similar, when we say that you don't need to think of what the friends are doing for you but you need to work towards the Arvut. How to reconcile this contradiction?

R. Don't look at what is happening with bad things in the ten. Only develop good things, connection, mutual responsibility, that is what we need.

21. S (53:41) There is a part in us that refuses to enter the mutual responsibility, refuses to listen to us. How can we force the advancement in bestowing on the deepest part of our heart so that it will go hand and hand with us?

R. Check the heart of each and everyone and certainly there's a part in everyone's heart that does not want to go towards mutual responsibility; and which is why you have this phenomenon outside of the heart, also with the friends. It's okay, nevertheless, continue to be together.

S. What is the difference between Israel that does not want, and the nations of the world?

R. Israel that does not want mutual responsibility? Those that don't want mutual responsibility are not called Israel. Israel to begin with are those people that understand the purpose of creation and are drawn towards it.

22. S. (55:26) If the friends pressure me to be in a lesson and the ten’s gatherings, can it be considered as an expression of mutual responsibility?

R. We will check this over time.

23. S. (56:15) Mutual responsibility is some mutual desires of everyone, and there are different desires and everyone has all kinds of desires, more developed, less developed desires and the more they develop the desire, the more shades by the way in which to realize the desire. And this rule “love your friend as yourself” has so many facets that it is hard to connect it, when we are talking about robbing a bank everybody understands what needs to happen but to love the other, there are so many shades, so many opinions about it how to reconcile all those shades into one?

R. Think about it and you will succeed.

24. S. (57:50) It is written in the article of Arvut, and you find that giving of the Torah had to be delayed until all their needs were provided by themselves independently of others. What state is that: until all the states were provided by themselves independently of others? Who are the others?

R. The others are anyone besides Israel. People who do not have the same goal.

S. But he writes here, what is that dependence on others he describes her?

R. It is within the person; but it is not the same desires and qualities that are directed towards the goal.

25. S (59:12) According to the article, is it possible that after receiving the Torah some people will fall from the condition of Arvut?

R. Yes, of course.

S. Does that mean that our progress relies on strengthening our mutual responsibilities and climbing the degrees of it, when receiving the Torah is only the first degree?

R. Yes. It is written about it, “do not believe in yourself until the day you die”.

26. S. (01:00:03) You replied to one of the questions that you do not have to check if your friends care about the Arvut, but there is such a condition that you are certain that there are 600,000 loyal lovers around you, you have to be believe it and be certain of that. So how does this work with the fact that I do not have to check if the friends are giving me the Arvut, the ego will grow a little bit and I will not be able to face it?

R. I don't understand the question?

S. You said that I do not have to check whether or not my friends are giving me mutual responsibility, I should simply do so. On the other hand it says in the article that I should be certain that around me there are 600,000 loyal lovers ready to take care of my every need. Where's this confidence coming from?

R. You will not get it from anywhere, just imagine that this is so.

27. S. (01:01:18) How to use the Arvut in our ten in order to increase the general mutual responsibility in the vessel?

R. It is to try to show everyone, but we are still not working in this; now we only want to maintain the tens in such a way that each and every ten feels that it has in it the mutual responsibility and it is willing to go forward with it. And how to come out of itself and begin to connect with others, we still do not learn it. There are many questions about it and actions.

28. S (01:02:26) We ask you, we keep asking questions about how to do this, how to do that and your answer is always, connection. I'm very angry within me about this thing that's preventing me from connecting. There are thousands of people here who gather for the lessons every morning but nevertheless, we find it difficult to connect. So, if you can give us some advice, one sentence that we can say to this thing inside us that prevents us from connecting, so we will truly want to come to want connection?

R. I understand you and respect you. But I have nothing to answer you other than the prayer: Why did the Creator set a certain condition and then as Rabash said, He lays before it some disturbances and small barriers? So we cannot jump above it. It is in order for us to pray and ask to remove that barrier to take us across in all kinds of ways, so we’ll continue to advance. Even though this disturbance might be on one hand very difficult, on the other hand when the Creator helps it is very easy. We have to take into consideration that each and every disturbance is intended first of all for us to connect more to the Creator.

29. S. (01:04:44) If part of the nation does not want to keep the Arvut, what does that say about the rest of the nation that wants to keep their Arvut? Is it their fault, is it something that they are missing, something that we need to do?

R. That doesn't want to or cannot keep the Arvut? If it does not want to, it has to be erased and removed from the group. If they cannot hold it, then we need to help them.

30. S (01:05:35) Sometimes you are unable to incorporate in the group, what to do in that state?

R. Try more and more to go deeper and deeper inside and pray and even ask for help, from the group itself. Ask. Put your head before the group and ask them to help you.

31. S. (01:06:22) If a part of the nation does not want to keep the mutual responsibility and they are immersed in self-love they cause the rest of their nation to remain in their filth and lowliness, so they are part of the nation, how are they different?

R. If this continues this way then of course they will be disturbing us, distracting us.

S. So in what way are they part of the nation different from the nations of the world?

R. If they are among us.

S. Does that mean that we have to take care of everyone?

R. Either remove them, cut them off from us or take care of them, tend to them.

S. Which of the two push them out or…?

R. This depends on the situation itself.

32. S. (01:07:31) To attain the Arvut means to attain the quality of bestowal?

R. Yes. Mutual. The mutual quality of bestowal of the group.

33. S. (01:08:03) On one hand, I heard that we should not ask to reveal the evil inclination, on the other hand if they are not revealed how will we know what is the evil inclination and how to ask for correction over it?

R. We need to advance only towards the good; and as we reveal the good along the way of course, we’ll reveal of course, its corresponding evil. And we always have work between the two.

34. S. (01:09:08) Can we say that the Arvut is the law of Adam HaRishon that we are trying to build? Is it a new system that we're building?

R. It is not a new system; we are only correcting the system of Adam HaRishon that was broken.

35. S. (01:09:42) You said that we should be careful not to bring doubts into the ten and foreign spirits, what is a foreign spirit?

R. Foreign spirit is in order to receive.

S. How can I not be in order to receive, I'm 100% evil inclination.

R. But still we are all like that in the ten, so we try to go according to our direction to come to the good, to connection, to a mutual responsibility.

S. So it is simply to put in the effort because you can not understand it, but just to bring it in the effort.

R. Correct. Correct, and the effort is expressed more than anything in the prayer for the Creator to correct us. Not that we can perform any act of bestowal by ourselves and connection; but we can ask the Creator to perform an act of bestowal and connection between us.

36. S (01:11:15) We are in the state of Lo Lishma, that is our nature, how can we give each other the Arvut, ‘we shall do and we shall hear’ is the state of faith? Where is the Arvut here, which of the states?

R. We have to support each other and in this mutual support we get powers from each other and this is how we move forward; and the Creator bestows upon our society, influences our society so that we are ready and willing to support each other, and we are expecting to receive support from everyone.

37. S. (01:12:20) I heard that you said that we only need to take care of our friends and not take care of ourselves at all. I wanted to ask something else but when I heard you say that we should care for everyone else, so we do need to make sure that everyone cares for everyone and prays for everyone?

R. We have to set such an example, yes.

S. So the complete Arvut is only when all of us pray that everyone will come to a mutual responsibility?

R. Yes.

38. S. (01:13:24) You said that we should strive only for good but for each one’s good is different, should we just aim in the same direction as the teacher is aiming us towards that’s good?

R. Very true.

S. And if I missed the lesson, does that mean I cannot be in one direction with everyone?

R. Correct, that is a problem.

39. S. (01:14:01) How do I detect within me, inside of ten and inside of the organization those who want to remain in self-love? What characterizes them clearly so we can act correctly towards them?

R. To the extent to which we are of the same view.

Reading again (01:14:40) Continued from Matan Torah - “All are responsible for one another..”

40. S. (01:22:30) If the friends reach Arvut, can we say that together they reach Arvut with the Creator? Is there even such a thing as Arvut towards the Creator or the group or a person?

R. The fact that we reach Arvut in the ten if it is already a ten, it is a sign that the Creator is already among us and holding on to us.

S. Faith above reason when we are already in spirituality, can you say that this is already the Arvut towards the Creator?

R. For the time being let it be this way. For the time being, let it be this way.

41. S. (01:23:44) How to awaken and increase the Arvut in the ten?

R. Only by our agreement; speak about it among us to the extent that we are coming closer to one another and supporting one another.

42. S. (1:24:04) In what is the Arvut expressed when the person finds trouble in finding his necessity?

R. We need to help him, we need to help him to an extent.

43. S. (01:24:22) What could force me to demand the Creator to overcome my will to receive, where does that demand come from?

R. Again.

S. What could force me to demand from the Creator to rise above my will to receive and where does the demand come from?

R. To raise me above the will to receive.

S. What can force me to reach such a state?

R. That I want to rise to be more in bestowal.

44. S. (01:25:02) Is the love of friends a degree that comes after the Arvut, is it the result of the Arvut between us?

R. Yes.

45. S. (01:25:12) Is there a difference between Arvut and connection in the group?

R. No.

46. S. (01:25:22) Is it right to think that Arvut is the degree of bestowal?

R.  Arvut is the degree of bestowal, of course.

47. S. (01:25:32) How can I give Arvut in the ten if there's a friend that drills in the boat?

R. So he is erasing the Arvut, he needs to be removed or to convince him to join the Arvut.

48. S. (01:26:08) This part where he does not want to join the Arvut also in a personal sense of society, how do you convince a person, what works on him?

R. By annulling towards the ten.

S. Those who do want it that’s clear but those who don't want it, how can you convince them?

R. Annul towards the ten.

49. S. (01:26:47) You mentioned that every disturbance is that we can connect more to the Creator, by increasing connection between us does that exchange our need to turn to the Creator?

R. I don't think so, don't worry, the disturbances will be.

S. Is there a connection between keeping the Arvut or the efforts of keeping the Arvut and relating to the disturbances?

R. Yes, these are scrutinies, yes.

50. S. (01:27:37) About the Arvut in the ten, if for over the month there is a friend who can hardly come to the lessons and we are doing a lot of giving him warmth and everything and we see that does not help. Is part of the Arvut to put pressure or force in a negative way or it should always be positive and with the hug?

R. It happened to me once where I was exploding out of noise. I had to wait up to half an hour for him to wake up and then I bring him to the lesson. And it's like I'm missing a lesson and I couldn't, I was making noise on the street and everyone started yelling at him and at me. And then he went to Rabash, what can you do? I said I can't, I can’t. So he said leave it, if you can't someone else will and that’s it. I understood that it is above me and above my noise. But it was very precious for me to be in the lesson and still Rabash would take into consideration to what extent we can help a friend to come to the lesson. It’s difficult, it’s difficult.

51. S. (01:29:46) Does the Arvut renew itself on every degree and how can we raise the Arvut a level?

R. No, when we rise we already feel that the Arvut needs to be on a higher degree. We do not need to attain the Arvut on a higher degree but only to the extent that we ourselves rise to it.

52. S. (01:30:33) A few days ago you answered a friend about a person that comes closer to the Creator with his qualities. Could you describe a ten that is implementing the Arvut and reaching a state of the giving of the Torah? What do they look like if we look at them from the outside? Could we see anything external in them or something internal? Do they have some external framework?

R. I don't think that you can identify from the outside what spiritual degree a person is on, what level of connection he is on. From here you can identify such signs but the actual degrees, no. That is why the main thing is to raise ourselves. We have the guidance of how to do so, the Kabbalists write about this to us. Let's bring ourselves closer to an ascent.

53. S. (01:31:56) If a person was already brought to the group but he does not have the forces to remain in Arvut, so is it his own deficiency or is it the general Arvut?

R. That is his own individual deficiency.

S. And relating to the general system, is it the Creator’s calculation with that person or is that a heavy soul?

R. You have problems, either stay or leave.

54. S. (01:32:39) We have a veteran friend in our ten who has decided to leave the ten for now, he left our work. How should we relate to that friend? Should we let him take his time like he asked or should we follow him?

R. If we try to hold him among us, inside, and whatever the mind doesn't do, time does, that is how it is. Let him have some time to settle in, in whatever he's in.

55. S. (01:33:40) In the article it is written, the ability to work in Arvut was given only when Israel came out of Egypt. So if I understand correctly, only after they could separate the desires of reception and bestowal from one another. How can I work with a friend's desires before they get rid of their ego?

R. Try and help each other mutually.

S. Can we agree between us to extract just one desire and agree that this is how it will go in the ten now?

R. You work among yourself only in your desire to participate in the lesson, you all participate together in the lesson, that is the first necessary demand.

S. A demand for the Arvut?

R. Yes, without it there is nothing.

56. S. (01:35:14) It is written that a person should take upon himself to be concerned and work for each one of the nation, to fill all his needs no less than what was imprinted in a person to be concerned with his own needs.

R. Yes.

S. A person is going crazy over his own needs, non-stop concern, where can he get the forces to be concerned about?

R. This is a demand from the Creator, that if you want to reach equivalence with Him, you need to accept this work and through it you will receive force and it will work in you in an ongoing way.

57. S. (01:36:25) It is clear how everything starts and ends in the ten and we need to reach the Arvut in the ten and I still don't understand in what you answered a friend, that towards a friend on the path, I don't have to supply him with anything. What does that mean?

R. You need to give him good examples along the way. That is the obligation of each and everyone in the ten.

S. I'm not speaking towards the ten, towards the group, the world Kli?

R. Well, let’s say you do.

S. So also towards the group and the world Kli you have to give examples of Arvut and to supply it?

R. Yes.

S. Because first I heard that only in the ten and nowhere else?

R. At least in the ten.

S. But it can be broader, it is not flawed?

R. It will be mandatory to do it later on but for the time being, that is how it is.

58. S. (01:37:30) It reminds me of a state, the whole Arvut, it reminds me, it says that the nation will dwell on its own and will not take the nations into consideration. It is as if the nation of Israel can be disconnected from all the world and these crazy hatred and disputes, with knives out it is in us but we don’t take this into consideration but we work above it. Is this after the Arvut or in the Arvut?

R. It is together with the Arvut.

S. Because he says that if there are a few people who don't want it then it is not able to be kept.

R. These forces are equivalent, one to the other, to the extent that there is love, there is hatred and the Creator will always make sure that we have this.

S. Can we work above them without taking that into consideration?

R. No, until the end of correction this is called the wars of the Messiah, that we will then feel how the evil force covers everything. That’s revealed, “I have created the evil inclination.”

S. But we will have a certain amount of overcoming, we will get used to it. Is that the habit?

R. Only with the help of the Creator, the Creator saves us. Eventually the Creator saves us after having these wars between us, in each one, with each we discover our own nature to the extent that it is almost infinitely evil and it was created by the Creator. “I have created the evil inclination” that you are not capable even to reveal that you're incapable: He reveals it to you, to the extent that you try and overcome with yourself more and more, you have this revelation of evil that turns out later on, that the last revelation of evil, that what is revealed is the Messiah; everything is in the hands of the heavens.

59. S. (01:40:31) So this war, trying to keep it towards the friends without expecting them to do it for me but only me towards them?

R. Of course, what are you going to do, wait for them to do it?

S. So today in the lesson it's clear that I have to look only at myself, as much as I am doing it towards them and not to check anything in them.

R. No.

S. So this war eventually is a personal war. Is there something mutual that I have to personally feel that they are in this war too?

R. Yes, you need to fight against the evil inclination and to show everyone that you are doing this, one will help his friend.

S. So where are they in this war?

R. They will also do the same.

S. So when I'm in this I will discover that they are in this too?

R. No, it's not mandatory for them to be in it.

S. So what will I discover?

R. You will discover that you also want to convey to them this method.

60. S. (01:41:52) I'm trying to describe and feel every friend that comes out of the morning lesson into the external environment and he has to behave like everyone else in a rational way but what inside? What inner point does everyone need to hold on to in order to keep this process going, what we started, this process of Arvut. What should we hold inside? What point?

R. That we are in two systems: one is a spiritual one that I'm here in the study, in the group, in the ten and the other that I am coming out to the free world and there I live according to the laws of that system.

S. What do I want to remember if I can?

R. To remember?

S. Yeah, throughout the day as much as I can.

R. To extend that I want to be with my ten from within.

S. What? To sit with them, in my feelings?

R. In my sensation, I want to be together with them.

61. S. (01:43:28) When I am trying to describe this state to myself that we are reading about, I have a question: when I agree to accept Arvut so it means that I'm sure that I can ask to agree right? And how do I have this confidence that I am sure I can ask to agree, to receive this condition?

R. To the extent you have this grasp on the group and the Creator then you will have strength and to the extent that you don't, then you don't.

S. Can I say that this confidence comes from knowing for sure that the friends are praying for us even though we're not demanding this as a condition but we're sure that that is the state?

R. No, I don't trust or think about the fact that the friends are praying.

62. S. (01:44:41) What is, “we shall do and we shall hear?”

R. We will do it, meaning we will keep it and we will attain it.

S. What will we keep?

R. We will keep the Arvut between us and in the Arvut between us we will attain connection and the wholeness of creation and this is all given to us by the Torah.

63. S. (01:45:16) What is the reason that Arvut leads to devotion and self-implementation in order to give contentment to the Creator?

R. Because Arvut is the inner law of nature.

S. A person that found his place in the system of Adam HaRishon, is he ready to help everyone correct the general soul?

R. Yes.

64. S. (01:46:12) Why does the Arvut article come after Matan Torah because before the Arvut can we receive the Torah?

R. No, the giving of the Torah demands Arvut and after Arvut is kept then you can begin to reveal the Torah in its complete form and the Creator clothed in the Torah.

65. S. (01:46:54) We said today that we don't need to be concerned if the friends are giving us Arvut but it exists and it only depends on me right?

R. No, it's not exactly right. I hear what you're saying but keep going.

S. So why is it not so true?

R. Arvut only depends on me?

S. On behalf of the system, what I heard is that the Arvut already exists towards me, I have to correct Arvut in other friends.

R. Okay…

S. So it's not right?

R. No, Arvut is that we need to feel that way, depend on one another and that we cannot be separated and you can't have one do it and the other not, each one has one law, one rule the rule of the ten.

S. So I don't have to check that the Arvut that I'm giving actually reaches the friends right? When I want to be in Arvut towards the friends should I make sure it's not my imagination but that…?

R. You have a business only with the Creator. You have business only with the Creator, you give Arvut from yourself to the Creator or to the general Kli and you are there, responsible for everything you need to do towards them.

S. How do I know I'm actually doing it?

R. According to the results. What is the question?

S. I could be imagining things and not actually doing it?

R. So we are in this imagination, okay, yes until we don't reach it.

66. S. (01:49:30) On one hand it said that if we fall into self-love, so the whole nation can be in Arvut. It says enough that just a few in the whole nation can. And you said that until Gmar Tikkun we will always fall in self-love, so when can we ever keep the Arvut?

R. When will we be in the Arvut?

S. You said until Gmar Tikkun we are always going to fall into self-love and if just a few fall we already lose the Arvut, so how can we ever get to the Arvut?

R. Only in the last step that's how I understand, how can I be otherwise, we don't have any other correction other than Arvut, that I am adhered to everyone to such an extent love, more than Arvut towards them from all of my heart more than that I don't want to keep. My goal is to be in Arvut, not that it's demanded of me, that I want it.

67. S. (01:51:17) If I discover that I thought of the intention in the lesson it means I lost the Arvut at that moment? I lost the intention on the friends?

R. Of course.

S. So what did I discover by this, my inner resistance is in me to be in Arvut?

R. Yes.

S. So it's an inner resistance that exists, so what do I do at that moment?

R. What do you do? I don't know what you do, you correct yourself.

S. So I tried to come back with the intention, with efforts or do I ask the Creator?

R. You continue first of all, continue try and fall into the ten, connect with them and then to go forward with them.

S. So what you're describing is like a machine that you have to keep igniting from the beginning every time?

R. True.

S. So how do I start it quicker because it can take time?

R. It depends how you're connected to the friends. It's possible that it can activate you immediately and it's possible that you don't feel a connection with them, so you want to activate yourself but can't.
