Excerpts from the sources: “Work with Faith Above Reason”. #8

Reader: Hello, in the first part of the lesson, we will study a lesson from August 30th, 2020. We'll be reading excerpts from the sources, "Work with Faith Above Reason." We're in excerpt number eight.

Reader: Hello, we're in a lesson about faith above reason, we’ll start with excerpt number eight. You can find the study material in our website, and also, you can press the book icon on the upper menu. You can ask questions in our website, and relevant questions will be asked during the lesson.

M. Laitman: I don't know what more, how more we can introduce in this lesson. We'll simply continue and see. I see that excerpt number eight is itself so powerful that it can open up the lesson. So read it, and then we'll explain it.

Reader: Excerpt number eight from Shamati 19, “What Is “The Creator Hates the Bodies,” in the Work?”

Reading: (01:32) 8. Baal HaSulam. Shamati 19. “What Is “The Creator Hates the Bodies,” in the Work?”

One must not be angry when he has work with the will to receive, that it obstructs him in the work. One would certainly be more satisfied if the will to receive were absent from the body, meaning that it would not bring its questions to a person, obstructing him in the work of observing Torah and Mitzvot [commandments].

However, one should believe that the obstructions of the will to receive in the work come to him from above. One is given the force to discover the will to receive from above because there is room for work precisely when the will to receive awakens.

Then one has close contact with the Creator to help him turn the will to receive to work in order to bestow. One must believe that from this extends contentment to the Creator, from his praying to Him to draw him near in the manner of Dvekut [adhesion], called “equivalence of form,” discerned as the annulment of the will to receive, so it is in order to bestow. The Creator says about this, “My sons defeated Me.” That is, I gave you the will to receive, and you ask Me to give you a desire to bestow instead.

M. Laitman: The Creator created the will to receive and because it was created by the Creator, it became one. In order to give independence to the will to receive, the Creator broke it, and it gave the will to receive an opportunity to connect again with intentions in order to bestow to each other. That's called to connect.

In our world we understand connection in a different way. Maybe we connect to someone to gain something, but in spirituality, meaning truthfully, to connect means that I work for the sake of the other. And in order to see the other in a whole way, then for the sake of the Creator.

Therefore, we need to see our state, always on two levels. Either we are working with in order to receive, with our force of reception, according to our nature, according to our desires and thoughts in us then we are on this level, on the simple egoistic level. In that we are exactly like the still, vegetative and animate, we’re not rising above this feeling completely. Or, if we go above it, we wish to connect with the intention to bestow to one another. And from preparing this area with mutual bestowal, we can rise from that to bestow to the Creator. This is the second level, called the degree of Adam, the human degree. Because by that, we are re-establishing the web of connections between us, called one who is equivalent to the Creator.

Therefore, the state in which we connect mutually to one another is called Adam. And with respect to the egoistic state it's called bestowal above the force of reception, or faith above reason. Let's read it again, I'll read it.

M. Laitman (Source Text/Commentary): (06:34) 8. Baal HaSulam. Shamati 19. “What Is “The Creator Hates the Bodies,” in the Work?”

One must not be angry when he has work with the will to receive, meaning, when he feels that he has to do something in spirituality, towards the friends, towards the Creator, against his ego, against his will to receive, when he doesn't feel like it. So, one must not be angry when he has work with the will to receive, that it obstructs him in the work. The will to receive always felt, always appears as if it's disturbing the work of connection, the work of bestowal. And a person would certainly be more satisfied if the will to receive were absent from the body, meaning that it would not bring its questions to a person, why, what for, and so on and so forth, obstructing him in the work of observing Torah and Mitzvot. Torah and Mitzvot means all the actions of mutual bestowal between us, and between us and the Creator, in total they are called Mitzvot, since this is what we are commanded to do, actions of bestowal between us and the Ten, or even with humanity, and to the Creator from that. So of course, the will to receive resists that.

However, one should believe that the obstructions of the will to receive in the work come to him from above. The work of connection, this disruption is planned from above. Since one is given the force to discover the will to receive, meaning the Creator reveals to him the will to receive that is in him. From that it is written, “I have created the evil inclination.” Since precisely when the will to receive awakens, there is room for work.

Then one has close contact with the Creator. In what? What kind of contact? When you have the will to receive that disturbs him? To help him. That the Creator would help a person. In what? To turn the will to receive to in order to bestow. There is nothing more to do and nothing else to ask the Creator. And a person has to believe that from this extends contentment to the Creator. When a person turns to the Creator, receives help from Him, in truth everything is done by the Creator. That's why our work is called the work of the Creator, we have to invite this work.

According to our invitation, the Creator does everything. That's why it's called the work of the Creator. Since from that extends contentment to the Creator, from his praying to Him, to draw Him near in the manner of Dvikut [adhesion]. What is adhesion in the Creator? When a person constantly holds on to the Creator, for the Creator to help him to resist, to work correctly with the will to receive that is inside a person, and to reach equivalence of form with the Creator. This is called Dvekut, discerned as the annulment of the will to receive. The annulment is not in annulling the will to receive; who will annul it will have no reason to turn to the Creator. So what can we do?

Rather, if we turn correctly to the Creator, then on the one hand we keep the will to receive, as the left, for example, the foundation for our work. On the other hand, we discover the connection with the Creator above the will to receive. Then, thanks to the will to receive, we're able to hold on to it. Just as we learned in the example of the wick, which is the will to receive, which is disqualified, and the oil below and the light above, in this way we can build on our work. A person has to believe that from this extends contentment to the Creator, from his praying to Him, to draw Him near in the manner of the Dvekut, called “equivalence of form,” discerned as the annulment of the will to receive, so it is in order to bestow. Meaning, the will to receive is annulled, is revoked from its form of in order to receive, and it becomes in order to bestow. And the Creator says about this, “My sons have defeated Me.” That is, I gave you the will to receive, and you ask Me to give you a desire to bestow instead. That's the end of the verse. This is from Shamati 19, “What is The Creator Hates the Bodies In the Work?” Let's see what you want to know.

Question (PT 10): (12:59) You said that connecting is when I work for others. What is the meaning of working for others but not in an egoistic form, but because of bestowal, of above reason?

M. Laitman: For the sake of the other- that's how we talk about it. In truth it's for the sake of general bestowal, which is for the sake of the Creator, the force of giving, the force of connection. We work for that. Why am I hesitant to say to whom and for the sake of what? Because I'm afraid that we will begin imagining the Creator as an image, a personality, and the will to receive as a physical force that works between us.

Rather to work for the sake of the other means that I work outside of me. I need to build in me this system where either I work for the sake of my ego, or I work for the sake of the other. The other is anyone outside of my ego. That's how I need to arrange myself, I need to divide myself in these two directions. For the sake of my ego? I shouldn't think it's for my own benefit. Rather on the contrary, it will become clearer, more and more, that it’s the other way around, it's the opposite of my own benefit. And I should work for the sake of the other, what is still called the other for me, in the form of the friends, the Creator. But they still appear to me as the other. But I actually want to see them not as the other, I want the egoistic desire to be the other, as it's written, “it should not be as a strange god to you.” So that's how we need to arrange ourselves.

It's recommended to imagine it as two levels: an egoistic level, a lower level, and an altruistic level, a higher level. And to see us in this way, where we wish to ascribe ourselves to the agreement with the Creator, bestowal to the Creator, bestowal to the friends as a means to bestow to the Creator. But it always has to be, “Israel, Torah and the Creator are one.” Meaning, I need to be through the friends, connected, aimed at bestowing to the Creator.

In truth, we don't have anything to bestow to the Creator, as it's written, what shall we give Him? He doesn't have a desire, a deficiency to receive anything from us. Rather He enjoys, like parents who enjoy their kids when they reach certain attainments, something good, and that's what the Creator has. To give contentment to the Creator is to show Him that we are working for the sake of bestowal, where we then arrive at a whole eternal state.

Question (Hebrew 10): (17:19) What's the difference between the will to receive and our corporeal desires? What is the will to receive, it talks about?

M. Laitman: Will to receive is the intention. The intention to enjoy, to be at rest, not in efforts of bestowal. Our entire work - when is it called work, spiritual work, the work of the Creator?

When I bestow to the other. When I feel that I bestow to the other? When it goes against my desire, against it, it has to be like that. Otherwise, I have no indication if I‘m bestowing or not. If I don't feel the resistance, everything seemingly flows, it's not bestowal. It is not bestowal.

So, first of all, I need to distinguish between what I can do according to my desire and what I should be doing if I were to put my will aside and do what I actually need to do in the direction of the correction of the broken vessel of the general soul. And then I have only the action of connection.

There are many acts of connection: there are primary actions, secondary actions, and so on and so forth, but they are all actions of connection. And that's what the Creator is demanding of us, of all of humanity, especially from us. He demands meticulously the keeping of the laws of communication, our communication in the Ten.

Later, we will learn about it with various sensitive work with intention, but ultimately, also for us, and for all the people in the world, it's simply the work of connection, the efforts to come closer to one another. I understand that we have to be together in mutual support. No one can make any spiritual action on their own, because a spiritual action is connection. It's between us.

Between us, never in a person, but always between the desires of a man and his friend. Therefore, that's how we need to depict it, constantly see the efforts of how to become closer to one another. There are many people who seemingly feel they have a tendency for it. I promise them that if they feel that they have a tendency for it, it's for the time being, because they are built in such a way that they feel according to their ego that they can be close to others. But in truth, no one is close to anyone.

If we are starting to work truthfully, seriously, in spirituality, we discover how intolerable it is, and then the real work begins. How we are in each will help his friend, and we draw the upper force to help us come closer and form some connection between us, and so on and so forth. But again, the approach for the spiritual work is always above reason, above the intellect, above all of our tendencies.

Our will to receive is built in an opposite way compared to connection. Therefore, all of spirituality exists above the connection.

Question (Zichron 2): (22:06) Is it possible to be within reason and above reason simultaneously?

M. Laitman: We are constantly making these calculations. We seemingly play with one another above the reason, within reason. You're right. Most of our work is to fall into the reason, then above reason, fall into reason, then above reason. We are constantly making calculations.

You cannot be above reason. Only through these descents into reason, and then ascending above reason. All the time - down, up, down, up. Constantly feel the boundary, check oneself. You are correct. That's how it should be.

Question (USA SF): (23:08) In a state where it's clear what action I need to make, and it's also clear that this action is impossible without turning to the Creator for help, how to overcome this inner barrier that won't allow me to turn to the Creator, knowing that this is the only thing I need to do?

M. Laitman: Talk about it with your friends. Talk about it with your friends. Tell one another how are you trying to succeed. Don't talk about your failures. Talk about succeeding. Envy in spirituality is a very good thing. When you envy the friends, it's not because you are trying to pull them down from their success, rather you too are trying to climb up to success. Therefore, envy in spirituality is a good thing.

Student: So you are saying, take all of my efforts, and I come to the Ten, and I talk about all the successes that have been happening, and together, when all of us bring this inspiration, then we all receive this force to turn to the Creator?

M. Laitman: Yes. Try, try and see what helps and what doesn't, what you should share and what you shouldn't, in a way that will push you forward.

Question (Florida): (25:01) When we draw near to the Creator in adhesion, it's called the equivalence of form. I'm just wondering why it's not called the equivalence of desire. Is there something more to this?

M. Laitman: It cannot be in the desires. No, no. It cannot be in the desires, because the Creator's desire is to bestow and your desire is to receive. And your desire to receive never changes. It never changes. Rather, you work with the intention with the will to receive. With the intention to turn it into such a form of reception. Which appears as bestowal towards the Creator.

Only in this way you receive strength from the Creator. The Creator arranges for you the spiritual vessel, and you work with Him in order to bestow to the Creator, in order to bestow, with the intention to bestow. But with what are you working? With what desire? The desire to receive. Except the form of reception, you're saying, basically, I'm going to receive from You, since otherwise I have nothing to give You. I'm going to receive, but just know that I'm receiving in order to bestow to You, and not to bestow to myself. So, what am I doing?

I perform a restriction. A restriction and I don't receive. And after the restriction I open myself, and I receive with the intention to bestow to You.

Meaning, I measure, I weigh how much I can receive. What I can receive from You, in order to cause You pleasure. And then I need to feel You. I need to discover You. In this way I'm willing to work. “Help me”. By myself I'm incapable of doing it. I'm not even sure how to arrange everything. But please make me into this corrected vessel. I agree to that, and I ask for that to happen.”

Student: So the equivalence of form is when I become a bestower, along with being a receiver. The equivalence of form, the Creator is a bestower, and I become a bestower. That's the equivalence of form?

M. Laitman: Equivalence of form, just understand the name, equivalence of form. In what are we equal? In the form. But His form is to bestow. My form is to receive in order to bestow. The action is opposite. The Creator gives, and I receive. But I receive with the intention to bestow to Him.

Therefore, for me the work is in the action. It's to receive and with the intention of giving. After all, the intention is what determines everything. And in that, the Creator and I are in equivalence, equivalence of form, not equivalence of desires.

His desire to bestow. My desire to receive, and it remains to receive. But the form of the will to receive, its external or outwardly expression is like the bestower.

Let's say a mother relative to her baby. She gives everything, everything. But in truth, if you could see what's happening in her desires inside, she receives pleasure. But the outwardly expression is that she's giving everything to Him.

Student: So it's strictly the intention. The equivalence with the Creator is strictly intention?

M. Laitman: A hundred percent. Excellent.

Question (Africa ): (29:46) You said that we shouldn't talk about our failures, but we should only talk about our successes. And through that, we should awaken envy because it's a great force, that we understand. But our question is, in what form should we bring our deficiencies to the group in order not to cross the barrier of discussing our failures?

M. Laitman: You should do what we're now discussing. Gradually do what we're talking about, what we're thinking about. Don't do anything else. Slowly, with everyone, we will take the right steps. Then even if I don't take the right step, I'll begin to feel that this step is a wrong step, because what I'll do is going to be different than the others.

Therefore, let us hear what we're now learning about. And during the day, until tomorrow, we'll try to return to that intention, that thought, that action as much as possible. So this action should be above reason. That's it. I will feel that according to my opinion, my reason, my desire, I would have done what is good for my will to receive.

Above reason, meaning in bestowal, above reception, I need to do what is good to the friends, and through them what is good to the Creator. And this needs to be the opposite of what I would have done for myself. In this way, gradually, we will come to build ourselves a template, a model of how do we turn to the other, and this action will be an action of bestowal.

Question (Kyiv 1): (32:30) This model you just described where I restrict myself and ask from the Creator in the Ten, in the center of the Ten, that in the connection between us, it will be revealed in order to bestow to Him. What does it mean that I'll be able to bestow to Him, as if discovering along with the friends? How does that happen?

M. Laitman: In my actions with the friends I build a system of connection between us. Where although each one of us is a tiny egoist, we wish to perform such actions between us that are against the ego, above the ego, actions of bestowal. Actions of bestowal are called acts of faith, because the force of faith, the force of Bina, is giving. We want to bestow to one another good things. What kind of good things?

Such that are bringing us closer to the Creator. This is called good. All the rest is called bad. Meaning, that which advances us towards the purpose of creation is called good. Purpose of life, connection, adhesion, only that is called good. And that's what we're trying to do.

Now, I also need to check when I'm trying to do such things. Do I want to do those things or not? If I wish to do it, it's not an action of bestowal. It's not an action of bestowal.

It means that inside, sits the saboteur, my will to receive. It constantly ignites me to do these actions, but these actions are actions of pride, of actually running away from true bestowal.

True actions of bestowal are such when I feel I can't do it. I can't do it. My hands are heavy. I can't do anything. And then what do we do? We connect between us and we turn to the Creator.

Remember? The hands of Moses are heavy. He cannot raise his hands to praise the Creator, to bring the force of bestowal to the people, to his group.

Student: And over this desire we perform a restriction?

M. Laitman: On our egoistic desire, which is now clarified as egoistic, we perform a restriction, and we begin to work with it in order to invert it. It was inverted, as it's written. What does it mean? How to make it into a desire to bestow. We mean the intention. The desire itself doesn't change. The intention of using it should be for the sake of the other, for the sake of the friends, and from them, for the sake of the Creator.

Student: But at this moment, we have overcome ourselves. As we say, we have overcome ourselves. We're incorporated in the connection between us. But it's only the first step.

M. Laitman: We will talk about that next time. For the time being, you should hear more friends. Don't jump. Not more than one question, not more than scrutinizing one action. I have patience. I'm still young. I can reach all those degrees. Don't worry. Everything is in the hands of the Creator. We just need to advance gradually.

Question (Turkiye 2): (37:20) How can I rise above my egoistic need to receive?

M. Laitman: How can I rise above the ego? That's what we're learning, my friend. That's what we're learning. So all of us together connect. I understand that we're all egoists. We can't have true connection between us, where each one thinks of the others. But we're turning to the Creator to break the walls between us so we'll be able to unite into one desire. And this one desire, to the extent it will be unified, the Creator will correct it.

He will connect us to that one desire and give this desire the intention to bestow. Then we'll begin to feel how we wish to bestow to one another. And you can say, what do you mean to one another? Where do we see one to another? By that we bestow to ourselves. We are like one body. Correct.

So the minute we begin to feel that we're all one Ten, as one, how can I bestow to the friend? It's like my hand. It's like my heart, my belly, my head. It's the same body. So we'll begin to connect with other groups, other Tens. And that's how we will expand ourselves.

We'll always need to feel what is more than me, more than the Ten, more than a few Tens, maybe more than all of humanity. That's it. We'll see how we are.

Question (Tbilisi): (39:45) We'd like to thank the Creator for the opportunity to work with faith above reason, and my question is, in the common prayer, a prayer that the friend uses his own words, or do you use that text to create a common prayer?

M. Laitman: In our common prayer between us, we are turning to the Creator, and of course, each one who turns to the Creator is speaking to Him, seemingly, from his heart. He doesn't know what exists in his friend's heart, but when we are all turning, more or less, to one force, it organizes us, it connects us.

Let's start connecting not between us, but in Him. To the extent we are included in Him, to the extent we are connected, it's all in Him. And we feel that. This is called Israel, this is us, each and every one who aims at the Creator. A light that is the light that connects us that comes from the Creator, and Kadosh Baruch Hu, who is the Creator himself, one. Israel, Torah, Kadosh Baruch Hu, those three things are as one. They become as one.

And this is called the corrected Kli. Its desires connected, the light influences it, and later the light influences it to fill them, to make them into one. There's no difference between the light that fills them and the desires. They all add on top of one another, and they're all connected. As we say adhered to one another.

Question (PT 20): (42:00) There's an essential condition in the work, meaning morning lessons, dissemination, and meeting on the Zoom. Are these essential conditions enough, or you have to add on in order to do something in spirituality, at least a half a percent more than that?

M. Laitman: The fact that you are in the morning lesson, which is mandatory for each one to be here, maybe you can't do it because you're working at that time. Let's say, you are now in the Far East. There, in the Philippines, it's already a workday. Japan, China. You can't be with us in the lesson, but you hear it later on. It's a must.

Imagine yourself in today’s lesson, and the lessons will become more and more important. And each and every lesson is a portion for that day. And in 24 hours you must hear that lesson within 24 hours. You must hear the lesson, because in 24 hours the revolution of the planet, you're together with your friends, who are also, all of them, thinking about the lesson. And then we have a common action, a group action around the planet, and then it has success. So try it.

That's one thing, the morning lesson. I call it the morning lesson, because it's 3.30 a.m. here. It's still night. And after that, you need to repeat that same lesson. Repeat that same lesson together with the Ten. I hear that you're reading such excerpts, such articles. I'm not against it. It's really, it's beautiful. I respect it. But to repeat the morning lesson even another time. Even another, as much as you can. You'll see how much more depth exists in the lesson. The problem in Kabbalah is not the quantity of matter, but the quality of the matter. How much you go inside.

Question (Baltia 2): (45:04) You said that the entire spirituality is above the connection. And we learn that spirituality is in the connection. Can you explain?

M. Laitman: Listen up. Spirituality exists above the will to receive. We connect between us with the matter of the will to receive and with the intention to bestow. Hence, both the will to receive and our intention to bestow, they all participate in the connection. I can't connect with others without the will to receive. But my intention, when I use my will to receive, I use it in order to serve the friends, to serve the other. Therefore, my will to receive participates in that.

Without it, I would never do any action. I have nothing outside of the will to receive. The intentions themselves are only wind, like the spirit. The action is done in the will to receive. Therefore, we act both in the will to receive and in the intention above it, which is in order to bestow. Or I can say it like that. To the extent that we have the intention to bestow, we activate our will to receive.

Question (ITA 2): (46:49) When we pray together in the Ten, are we always above reason?

M. Laitman: I don't know. It depends on how you connect in the Ten. Maybe you connect in the Ten to walk onto the streets and rob someone. There has to be an action in order to bestow. An action in order to bestow in the Ten can be only on the condition that each one in the Ten is supporting the others, is working only for them in order to bring them closer to the Creator.

In this way, they each activate the force of bestowal, each one towards the other nine, and the whole Ten becomes a force of bestowal towards the Creator. It's not any or all action. It has to be an action of bestowal of all of us in the Ten towards everyone else. Try those things in practice. Have a desire to do it. Ask the Creator to show an example and to organize you in this way. He'll do it.

You won't be able to do it. But try a few times, see that you fail, then you have the urge to turn to the Creator. He will do it for you. He will organize you. Just as we do it with kids. What do you do with kids? You sit the kid down in his seat. You give him a spoon. You tell him, look, that's how you need to eat. You know how he's doing it. With his hand, and it's difficult, he can't do it. That's how you teach him. That's how the Creator is teaching us all these actions.

Later we will see these actions as natural. We'll see that, yes, this is the spiritual world. That's how we need to connect. That's how we need to discover the relationship between us. This is already a spiritual layer. It's a web of connections between us, which is called, specifically, the spiritual vessel, Adam. The web of connections between us will be similar, will resemble the Creator. You'll see that's how it is. Just gradually, slowly remain in such actions, such desires, such scrutinies.

Question (Latin 2): (50:03) I make a lot of efforts in order to come to the lesson, and the reason I'm taking part in it, even though it is difficult, is to evoke envy. Many times I'm not thinking about my intention. Is it right or not? What should I improve in my actions?

M. Laitman: Scrutinize it with the friends. It's good that you have this question. Scrutinize it today with your friends. Talk about it. Tell them exactly the state. We understand that, correctly or incorrectly it requires correction. Talk about it, because the state is a general state. Everyone is going to go through that state. It's good.

Question (Qazaqstan): (51:10) At this point, when a person has no strength, what's the right way to work with it?

M. Laitman: First of all, I'm very happy to hear it from you, because you're always, as a strong person dedicated, aimed at the goal, without any point of weakness. Only to reach the goal, and that's it. That's how we saw you. Suddenly you're saying, you attain a point of weakness, no strength. This is a beautiful advancement. It's really touching my heart. What to do? “His hands to the Creator,” that's how it's called. What does it mean, his hands to the Creator? I aim my hand at the friends. Together with them wish to reach the Creator. So we'll connect our hands together to Him. He will immediately hear it and begin to take care of us. And don't think that what you feel the others don't feel and they are seemingly in other degrees, different degrees, no.

You can't check it, but everyone is in one state. We are aimed, guided from above to be in such states. So if a friend is saying something about his state, and you don't feel that you are with him, then you're not in your true state. Do you hear that? We are guided from above in each and every Ten to complement one another, like in a weave where the threads are interconnected. That's how we weave our vessel.

Question (Tel Aviv 3): (53:54) This point of agreement, is that an argument by the ego or by a person?

M. Laitman: The point of agreement, all of our agreements for the time being are egotistic, below their restriction. But by that, we will also reach a point above it. Very soon, God willing. But always add with the help of the Creator. We're not saying it like religious people. We're saying it because truly, indeed, only with the help of the Creator from above, we can reach the realization of each and every one of our actions.

Question (Tel Aviv 2): (54:39) How not to fall to the Klipa when bestowing to the friends? When the friends enjoy it, I enjoy it.

M. Laitman: It's only when we care first of all, about the connection between us. The connection between us, and later the connection with the Creator.

Question (PT 34): (55:22) A person should believe, because from that, the contentment of the Creator is extended. So please explain, what does it mean that a person should believe? He should feel, and then he reaches, or shouldn't he have the feeling?

M. Laitman: A person has to believe. Believe is not to feel. To believe here, for the time being, we're only talking about our state. We need to believe according to belief in our sages. They said, do so and so and we consequently believe that what they're saying is correct, and we have to do it. This is called to believe. You hear what the teacher is saying, and you do it without your intellect, without your mind. You only use your mind to do what the teacher is saying.

The teacher's head and the action is yours. This is the decree of your faith. To the extent that the teacher is saying something you don't like to do, and you do it, the gap between the desirable and the present, this is your degree of faith. You only have some degree of faith. And beware, because it's not simple, especially for you.

Question (ITA 4): (56:58) How can I help the friend? How can I help the friends to understand? How can I help the friends stay on the path?

M. Laitman: By constantly awakening them to be together, and from being together, to be with the Creator. That's it. Simple thing. Israel is you or anyone who yearns to attain the purpose of life. The light is the general light that connects you together in the group, and Kadosh Baruch Hu, the Creator, is the direction from the group to the one upper force, the Creator, adhesion with Him, one. You have to gather it to one action. That's all. That's our whole work.

As concrete and focused as possible, we'll start feeling it as truly that's the secret of our success. And you'll look at what we've done, how many years, how many things. But finally, our brains and our heart can already be focused on that. Start to feel that in this we'll have a holding point for advancement. It's very special what we're going through now. It's a true entry into a spiritual state, a spiritual feeling.

Question (New York 4): (59:00) When you say, clarify the intention in the Ten, does it have to be in a workshop style, or can it be in an open discussion?

M. Laitman: Both. Both. Don't be afraid. You should reach, in your Ten, a state that there's nothing that you can hide from each other. Because you're like one body. If you're talking about your corporeality, set it aside. This doesn't interest anyone. But with your desires, you have to be connected to everyone. Your intentions are along with everyone. That's why in spirituality you must be in one heart. Do you understand what being in one heart means? There's no difference between the hearts. The spiritual connection is so tight, it's truly one. In a way that there's nothing to hide. and God forbid, everything should be. But be focused on the point. Don't confuse the friends only about the connection between us and the Creator. It will happen. It will happen. You started moving in a good way.

Question (Holland 1): (01:00:39) To work in faith above reason, there has to be a resistance to be a real act of bestowal. What is the moment that the ego agrees and is it able to work in happiness?

M. Laitman: At the end of the effort, there should be joy. In the beginning of the effort, there should be importance. At the onset, when you start your effort, it's importance of the action that this is a spiritual action. It doesn't exist in this world. I have to compose it for the first time, and it's new, and I approach it gently, with scrutiny. At the end of the action, it's joy that I did something here. Maybe I wasn't that successful, but I did something. It's like a child. You give him some soup and a spoon to eat with. You know most of the soup will be on the table, but still, he did something. He took a step forward.

Question (KabU 1): (01:02:32) My question is, what are the specific bodies the Creator hates, and why would the Creator hate what He created?

M. Laitman: Yes, it is written that the Creator hates the bodies. Bodies, or in Hebrew, corpses, or bodies, it doesn't matter how you use it, but if you use it in a female or male form, if you use it in order to receive, it's in the female form, if you're in order to bestow, it's in the male form. He created it in order to hate them. He created these bodies; the meaning is in order to receive, but the moment you use these bodies in order to bestow rather than in order to receive, it becomes a holy body. It becomes completely holy, and in this body, the Creator is revealed.

The connection between us and the connection with Him, an entire reality, infinite, endless, is entirely revealed in this corrected body. Besides the will to receive, there is nothing. What we learn in the wisdom of Kabbalah, Sefirot, Olamot, Partzufim, everything, it's all in the same will to receive. Except for it, there is nothing. Except for it, we learn that there is some surrounding light, revolving light that we don't attain, but rather we use it in order to bestow, to draw it into the Guf, into the body, and that's it.

Question (Piter 2): (01:04:37) My action in bestowing to the other is the opposite to the friend's bestowal?

M. Laitman: Not necessarily. I don't know how you can do that, that my action will be the opposite of a friend's action? Are you doing some math here? If he's this way, I'll be the opposite? You'll only want one thing now. To feel that we are all attached in one heart. Not that you're connecting between yourselves and by some… connect this to that to that. No. One heart. It's not that he's going to take the right, I'll take the left. This also exists, but later, we'll talk about these forms. They're not so simple. So, just try to be in one heart. That's it.

Question (PT 31): (01:05:46) You said earlier that every friend who goes through a state, I feel as if I also went through that state. The question is…

M. Laitman: No, no, no, no. I didn't say that. I didn't say that. You can repeat it, and you can listen. What I said was that maybe now we're not aware of it, but we're going through one state. Each one through this, maybe in the meantime he doesn't feel that he's connected to others, but the Creator shows us or reveals our states to us by the general light. And we've discovered that we are nonetheless in one Kli. The scattering is the removal of the light when we don't feel that we're connected. And the correction is when the light bestows more. It comes closer, and we feel how connected we are. But maybe it's not in the right manner.

Student: If the Ten feels that there's a friend who's stuck in the same state for years, what is the point in which we can help him?

M. Laitman: Set an example in a subtle way. Make it subtle. And don't hurry that much. If he's in the group, and he's willing to be with you, and as Rabash writes, just don't disturb, don't stand in the way of the connection in the group. Then leave him. Let him be in the group together with you. Later, you'll find out that specifically the ones who are incapable of walking on your pace, that are lagging behind seemingly, they're not lagging. Their soul is much heavier. When they start work, you'll see a lot of benefit in it. The greatest Kabbalists had the toughest path, very tough. Because their heavy will to receive with intentions, every time to put the right intention on it, it's very difficult. Until they understand the words we're talking about, a correction is always from the light to the heavy.

You will see that when the true awakening will begin with the public, you'll see how much there, the different states and different transitions will be so difficult. A big will to receive from the lowest layer. You will see. We have to learn first on ourselves and how the whole world will advance later. It won't be simple for them. And this is why we have to make the connection between them and the Creator. We, being in the middle as a conduit, and then they'll be able to do it. Now everything depends on how much we place ourselves as a conduit. To that extent, the whole world will go into that action.

Meaning, in the meantime, we are the ones who are stopping the advancement. Us, not them. Everything depends on us. That's why we have to be as aware of the fact that the them to the Creator, by that, we're saving the world and giving contentment to the Creator.

Student: So, to summarize, only setting an example, personal example.

M. Laitman: Mainly, yes, that's the main thing.

Question (PT 17): (01:09:54) The more we come closer to one another and we try to make the work of this more precise, there's a little bit of a demand towards the friends, it creates a rejection of certain friends towards that work. Is there something we're doing wrong, or something we can help them by?

M. Laitman: No, no, no, no, no. See these things as coming from the Creator, and the Creator is giving us work, and there will be more and more. It's as if friends are falling, as if they don't want, it's as if they are hating others. All these examples, you will have them in the future, and then some. And we’ll have to embrace these examples, to settle them down, to talk, you know, like the mountain climbers, Alpinists, when we rise to the mountain of God this way, only by mutual help.

Question (Galil West): (01:11:10) How to come to control of the ego in spiritual work?

M. Laitman: Observe your friends and envy them; it will make things easier for you. I only know one thing: envy is a very, very important thing, and even though you don't want to have envy, be cautious of losing it. Actually, envy is very helpful. Without envy, you know, there's a verse, the envy of writers will increase Hochma, wisdom.

Reader: Before we come to the next part of the lesson, we will sing a song together.

Song: (01:18:12)
