New Life 227 – Happiness And Family

Episode 227|8 сент. 2013 г.

What Can You Do to Provide Happiness to Your Family?

The family is the basic cell of human life. In a good family, we receive support, stability, care, and love. The key is mutuality: I have someone to love and someone who loves me as I am, and I relate to my family in the same way, accepting them with all their weaknesses.

When there is love between us, even the simplest things acquire additional value. If I return home exhausted and someone I love brings me a cup of tea, I do not receive only the tea. Together with it, I receive the person’s warmth and care. Something of their love enters what they give me, and this is what truly revives us.

At the foundation of the family is the relationship between the couple. Today, with our growing egoism, maintaining this relationship is increasingly difficult. Therefore, we need to learn how to build an inner connection in which each person begins to feel that the other is part of them.

Nature itself is built through the connection of opposites: plus and minus, heat and cold, light and darkness. A couple also consists of two different, often opposite people. The goal is not to eliminate these differences but to build mutual complementarity above them.

Naturally, disturbances will continually appear between us: disagreements, rejection, distance, arguments, and conflicts. We should learn to use them to build an even stronger connection. Each new separation gives us an opportunity to rise above our ego and deepen our mutual inclusion.

If I begin accepting the other person’s desires as though they were my own and try to fulfill them, while my partner does the same toward me, a new common space appears between us. This common space is what can truly be called a family. It becomes the special “glue” that holds us together.

Children who grow up in such an atmosphere absorb it naturally. They see how their parents relate to each other and later seek to reproduce that warmth and mutuality in their own families.

We can begin with very simple exercises. Do enjoyable things together: prepare a festive family meal, cook together, set the table, sing, and try to anticipate what each person needs before they ask. The activity itself is secondary. What matters is the intention to bring pleasure to one another.

We search everywhere for happiness, while its source is actually very close. It is found in the connection between us.
