A NEW LIFE

Talk 298

Creativity - Part 2

A Talk with Dr. Michael Laitman, February 11, 2014 – after editing

Oren: We are holding a series of talks on society and us – people around us at home and at work, in our society. Our entire life is basically our interactions with whomever is not us. How can we improve these interactions in order to attain a better life? That is our topic today.

Tal: On the previous show, we talked about creativity, what creativity is. We reviewed this area extensively and today we would like to touch upon this topic, concerning organizations. I’m doing my Master’s in Corporate Social Psychology and as the organizational consultant, I am now going out to society and would very much like to help organizations thrive, achieve results and lead our society to a better place.

We have been seeing changes in the past century or two. We mentioned how there used to be geniuses in various areas: Einstein, Picasso, Mozart, individual people who attained exceptional ideas and results which greatly promoted humanity. Today, there is a developing trend of complexity and great acceleration, so organizations realize they need to renew things very quickly. They also further understand that it is very difficult for a person to be alone and count on teamwork; teams thinking together.

For example, a century ago the Wright Brothers built the first plane, only two people; today there are hundreds of engineers at Boeing building one engine. Meaning, the level of professionalism and knowledge has increased so much, that many more people are needed to do even one small thing.

I have also read that some say the best ideas come to people particularly when they’re in public places. For example: in coffee shops, or when they meet at the organization, run into each other around the coffee stand and talk a little. There, in particular is where the great ideas are born. So, more and more, we are realizing that good ideas and true creativity come to us out of collaboration, even if it’s coincidental.

For instance, Steve Jobs built his organization in such a way, that people have to run into each other on the way to the restroom or the cafeteria, because he realized that those encounters in particular, produce the greatest creativity. There is a study showing that the best research is created through collaboration of scientists. The more people working on something, the better it turns out.

What is this developing trend? Why is it that today, more and more, we are reaching a state where we can only solve things together?

Yes, it's true that in the past, in culture, education, industry and all aspects of life, a person alone was capable of doing almost any work. People were also universal. Scientists were universal too, until three or four centuries ago. There was a Ph.D in philosophy and no more. There weren’t physicists, mathematicians, astronomers; rather each one included all of science. Even in medicine, music playing, musical instruments, and so forth. People increasingly integrated their entire domain within them.

However, when we began developing over the last few centuries, this universality disappeared. Even in physics or chemistry, in order to be a scientist today, you need to invest your entire life in it. Even then, you can only be in one of the areas of your profession, and even within that area, only in a specific domain, until you reach a very narrow segment where you can be an expert. It’s very narrow and limited, and almost impossible to know what is happening in other domains.

Our problem is that we are incapable of encompassing all of man’s creations, mechanically, because we want to do it in a mechanical way. Meaning, I have to learn all of physics, chemistry, biology, zoology, mechanics, botanics, etc, whatever has evolved from that general science, which three or four centuries ago was as one science. Today, it is already dozens of domains and thousands of levels.

Furthermore, if we are speaking of connections among people, for out of these connections, we are capable of creating something new, it’s true that every new thing stems from connection, but the problem is the connection itself. We don’t understand one another, even professionally, how chemists, biologists and physicists speak and so on. In the same domain or situation for instance, when they observe a certain phenomenon in Nature, each one speaks about it with his own vocabulary and definitions. It's the same with physics, chemistry, biology, zoology and in all forms, so they hardly understand one another, and if they do, it's only superficially, not internally.

Our problem is that we aren't meant to advance in research that way. True progress will come when we don’t connect among us as chemists, botanists and physicists, not in such a superficial, external way to connect within the science each one holds. Rather, we will connect with one another internally and understand, feel and build a common bank of feelings, desires and thoughts among us. Then, we will be able to understand the phenomenon we investigated, not from the aspect of chemistry, biology, physics or zoology, etc., but inclusively, because we ourselves are going to be inclusive, with an approach from physics, zoology, biology, each and every domain. There won't be domains and we will see Nature in a rounded form.

That is why I think that the connection as Steve Jobs and others wanted to build their business will not last much longer. In the meantime, we are squeezing the fruit and want to squeeze it until the end, which is already quite empty.

Tal: It sounds like the right direction. People understand that we need to connect, talk and exchange information with one another in order to be creative. It’s important for me to understand the difference between the connection we're familiar with and the connection you are describing.

I am saying that the connection has to be internal. Then, it won't be incidental, at the coffee stand or near the restrooms, and not just if I feel like it or not, by suddenly catching a situation by the tail. Rather, I will feel all the discernments and phenomena in Nature from within. When the chemist feels that way, along with the botanist, zoologist and physicist, I will feel it from all aspects. Why should we connect superficially and incidentally, if I can do it internally?

Tal: We would be happy to teach how to do that in organizations. There is a very common method these days, called Brainstorming. That is how people usually work in a team and each one comes up with ideas. It has already been found that there is a problem with it, because brainstorming seemingly reduces criticism and each one has to come up with as many ideas as freely as possible. What they've realized is that what’s missing here is the conflict, after all. When there's a conflict, it leads people to a certain interaction and the products are better.

Why aren’t they creating conflict?

Tal: Right, that is why a new approach came saying that using brainstorming alone is incorrect, because it lacks what is considered constructive criticism. Meaning, that at some stage, they realized that in order to truly achieve results, it can't be conducted so freely, rather there needs to be criticism and limits. Is this new approach correct?

I think it’s incorrect. A new creation always comes from labor pains in feeling and understanding, in relationships and all sorts of ways; there has to be conflict. However, external conflicts, external clashes are a very narrow and primitive approach.

We need to create conflict within a person, within each and every one, along with a conflict in the connection among human beings. That is so they will want to connect and on the other hand, will feel a clash with their ego in the connection. Then, when there is connection over rejection, this conflict can provide them with a new form of connecting. Not the same they had while brainstorming, rather a connection on a different level.

Tal: How is it possible to truly shift to a slightly more internal approach, for a team now working with the external clash; a type of brainstorming where each one basically brings up his ideas and they end up with an accumulation of many ideas?

What do we gain by connecting more internally, the way I am recommending? We enter higher, more delicate and sublime layers of Nature. It is the all-encompassing nature of information surrounding us, where governance and Providence and all forces of Nature are leading us through our development. Then, we already begin to become more adapted with that force governing our evolution. We also begin to further understand the nature of human beings and of human society. All in all, in these workplaces we need to engage in the most appropriate creation necessary for human society.

In such a connection as we are creating, we further understand the nature of Man, society and of the whole of Nature, as well. At that point, we take a huge step forward and begin to suggest and invent such creations, which have seemingly not even arrived yet to the desires of human beings in this world. It is as if we are running in front of the wagon, before the horses.

That’s good, because we have the option to lower our profile too, or to create something for the longer range as well, which we know will be needed, if not today then the following year. Meaning, here we really can precede all of the other people, all of our competitors.

Tal: That’s what everyone wants, to precede the competition, but how is it done?

I repeat, we shift this whole conflict from the external form to the internal form; for each one begins to connect to the other with love above hate, friendship above separation. That is our unique technology of the new social connection we have to bring them. It is actually the implementation of integral education.

Tal: Generally speaking, when we arrive at a meeting in an organization and need to reach a certain final product, we deal less with love or hate and more with the level of knowledge, thoughts and ideas.

If we want to create something new and bring new ideas, what knowledge will help me? As a great scientist, while in a child's sandbox, I can have a sudden bright idea about building in space, or a part of a spaceship, just because of a toy I get. One has nothing to do with the other, meaning, here, it is not about the amount of knowledge; rather, we have a new approach, enlightenment, a new view of solutions we are stuck with, not out of lack of knowledge but lack of an innovative approach.

Here we are with the innovative approach. Why are we running ahead of the horses and wagon? It is because we want to connect human beings together, since Nature is going in that direction. Just as it brought about connection among the Europeans and is summoning the elimination of borders between countries among other things in order to do something to create one world. Even if we don’t want it, wherever we look, we see that the world is becoming rounder; we are more dependent on each other and so forth.

Hence, we operate and specialize our factory in that, or at least those people responsible for creating the new product and that is why we are running in front of the wagon. Here, we can truly gain compared to our competitors, both in time and the type of creation. They will make something, do something else to bend Nature, using another color, and we will actually be able to create new things, more than Steve Jobs and others like him.

Tal: What domains are you referring to?

All domains. It does not matter in which domains. It could be new symphonies we create per order, revealing new things in Nature per order and technical creations like those of Edison and others like him. It’s truly so. From within the internal connection among us, our integration, where each one will be included with others, each one will absorb all of the characteristics existing in others in the most optimal, rational and flexible way. Thus, it is a different level of creation. It is actually indescribable creativity, which can't be compared with what there is today. In short, such a department has to exist in every workplace.

Tal: In every organization?

In every organization, factory, I don’t know how to call it, in the workplace: The “Artistic Creation Department.” It’s not important, only to be in a way they will understand, "Integral Development," something like that, created from the internal connection among human beings. It’s not brainstorming with an external conflict; rather, it's a connection and finding the solution from within the internal conflicts existing within each and every one. They rise above their personal conflicts and whatever there is between them and connect among them into one body, where there is one heart, one brain and then new ideas and thoughts come about, and so on.

Tal: What are the necessary conditions in such a group in order for it to be created, so it will happen? What does each one need to do separately and together?

They have to go through actual internal change through integral education. It’s a must. Meaning, before engaging in their professions, before they engage in upgrading their work, they need to undergo serious upgrading themselves.

Tal: Many times, each of us is still an individual with one's own thoughts, desires and ideas, and sometimes the work is together, since you said it is supposed to save us time. Sometimes, it takes us longer than doing the work alone.

Yes, because it is difficult for people to connect together, but I see that in the present state, there are increasingly more people who understand and devote time to that at work. Every manager is concerned with the relationships among his workers, because he knows they could actually hinder and harm each other and it would be impossible to find out who is to blame, how it happened, and what is going on altogether.

Oren: I would like to make it slightly more tangible - the new image you are depicting. What would brainstorming look like in such an organization?

Brainstorming would look like a workshop, where they understand that no one has any new creative idea, no enlightenment. Rather, they are seeking it in a mutual way, to the extent of wishing for it to be born in the other.

Oren: What will be born?

An idea.

Oren: Assuming that the three of us or thirty people are holding a classic brainstorming session, never mind how many, so when your turn comes, we will try not to criticize you so that there will be a good atmosphere around you and you will try to express your idea. When it’s my turn, you will try not to criticize me, in order to allow me to express my idea and when it’s Tal’s turn she will express her idea. If I understand correctly, here the dynamics are different; I understand that I won’t have any creative idea within me, rather I am only concerned for one to be born within you.

It’s not in any one person and will never be. That is why we have reached a deadlock and want something truly new. We have already reached a state where it doesn’t matter how long we sit around, think, argue, brainstorm and so on. Nothing will stem from that, but here we need a new idea, which is that by integral education we will change ourselves to the degree that we are integrated with each other in a nice, correct way. Stemming from that, we will seemingly actualize “Each one helps the other, his friend.” I want everyone to know what I feel and understand, and I want to wish them all the best. We all want to connect in one heart, one thought and one mind, not just conducting the kind of brainstorming where we actually argue with each other. We don’t want to argue, nothing will come out of the argument, only from connection. However, in order to be connected, I’m always in a state of my own internal, individual argument, at war with my own ego. If we connect in such a way, we will bear new ideas.

Why? Because we stabilize or create a new mind and a new collective heart among us; each one adds and shifts the new mind and desire to the best of his ability. It’s like our baby, who we all surround from all sides with a nice and good, mutual attitude, not egoistic or individual, but as one of us. That is where we begin to receive a heart, which means, many times more the desires and feelings, by each one nullifying oneself towards the others and being integrated with them. It's the same thing with the mind. It turns out that we suddenly rise to a state which is many times higher than the previous one. It's as though we have created a person within whom a new reality and power exist, which does not exist in our state, since he is created as a result of the fruit of love rather than the ego, bestowal rather than receiving for himself. Hence, this character we have designed among us becomes much more creative. He's created from another level of existence, feels the information, completely different information existing in Nature.

Oren: Is this the result of the process of developing integral connection of the same team?

The same body called “We” created from our connections, in our center is connected with a certain flow of information existing in Nature, on a higher level than us.

Oren: And that is where brilliant ideas stem from?

Sure, yes.

Oren: Are these the result of the process?

Yes.

Oren: I’m trying to understand the process which led to this result, so going back to the image of brainstorming. I understand what typical brainstorming is, when it's your turn to speak, we will hear what you have to say and try to listen. When it's my turn, you will say “Yes, what do you have to say?” and try to listen. You are saying that today any organization wishing to forge forward and conquer the market must establish a team you called the “Artistic Creation Team,” within which a new type of connection exists, bringing about bright ideas and creativity from a new level. How do they assemble around the same table in the conference room? I am familiar with classic brainstorming; what does brainstorming look like when they are connected in this new team you'd like to build; what will you say when it’s your turn to speak?

I am not going to say anything.

Oren: So what will you do, keep quiet?

You are not going to say anything either.

Oren: So, will I keep quiet too?

First, you need to be a new person; you have to go through integral education.

Oren: What will it do?

It will have you be in good, nice connections with others.

Oren: Let’s say we went through such a process, we have good connections with others and we assemble in the conference room of the organization in order to start a new project. Before you arrived as a person who led us through these processes of new connections and turned us into new people with a new world outlook, we knew how to brainstorm in the old classic way I have described, where each one has a turn, everyone tries to listen, we're done, arrive at a certain product as a result of the meeting, from brainstorming. How will brainstorming look now in the new technology of the new connection? When your turn comes, what will happen?

Why does it matter if it’s my turn or others'? Everyone is the same.

Oren: How is the discussion held?

There’s no discussion.

Oren: Are we going to develop something new together?

Let’s say it’s a discussion, I wouldn’t call it a discussion.

Oren: How shall we call it?

It’s connecting.

Oren: Do we assemble in a conference room?

Correct.

Oren: Is there a table between us?

A round one.

Oren: And what happens now?

First, we begin by connecting among us, renewing our connection; we read a section from the materials of the integral education method and connect among us. We talk about the form of connection among us, how much it’s above the ego, the extent to which we are creating and stabilizing the concept “We are as one,” where each one is included in everyone; I’m in you and you’re in me, and this way we, each and every one of the ten people, say, all of us in everyone, and this connection actually brings us to thinking and feeling on a different degree, a different level.

I want to feel everyone as one; how we emerge from ourselves and attain the feeling of the center of our connection, where there's no "I" and none of my friends, rather "we," and I disappear there and my ego stays out. It is when we connect, not so I will gain more, because if I gain more, it’s just a group of egoists like it was before, while brainstorming. However, here we are in a different connection, where each one emerges from himself and wants to spread out, as if integrated in all, truly disappearing within everyone, willing to serve them and fulfill their desires, being with their questions, minds, everything. In such a way, if in the ten, I’m integrated with nine and the other is also integrated in the nine and so is everyone else, we are thus creating a certain field among us where everyone is integrated of nine.

Oren: Suppose it’s a team of ten.

Yes. And you have spread yourself among the nine, you have been included, and so are all the others. We have created a common field among us, where there are no you and I, rather each one is integrated with the nine, creating a type of layer, which is his attitude of love, connection, mutuality and assistance towards others, the only place he exists. Just like you exist within a baby and you truly want to be within him and give him everything. You don’t exist, you don’t feel your body, you only exist in order to help him when he’s in trouble and needs you.

If we connect in such a way and try to connect above the ego, the inner conflicts still exist, but we are above them, helping each other attain such a form. Then, there’s a layer of the nice attitude to others from each one, where these ten layers are one upon the other and each one is included of nine. These ten layers are called “Eser Sefirot” (Ten Spheres) and we create a mechanism called “Partzuf,”(Face) which is our form.

In our form that we have created and stabilized, let’s solve any problem.

Oren: How much time needs to be devoted to this stage you've described?

It’s not a matter of time. As long as you haven't created this feeling, you don’t proceed, because you won’t have a new creation.

Oren: It’s not the time that counts, but the quality of the connection.

Yes, it’s an art.

Oren: That’s why you called it an artistic creation.

You can say that it’s from the word "Emunah," (Faith). [The word "Art" in Hebrew is Omanut]. Meaning, “faith” is my nice bestowal unto others.

Oren: Faith in what?

It doesn't matter, call it art.

Oren: After we created this artistic and multilayered mechanism, what’s next? Now, do we start discussing the project itself?

If we have stabilized it, now we will discuss the project itself, how and what we can do, in order to solve our specific problem.

It turns out that our solution will be in advancing toward a good creation. Our solution will be in a good creation for human beings. We won't be able to produce weapons here, other than in a time of actual crisis. Our attitude towards one another precedes going to make good creations, now. It turns out that we begin discussing what materials to use, say, in developing a new product or a new service. Now, in such a group, you will be able to know what is truly beneficial to human beings and even be a step forward before they feel it.

Oren: I would like to understand the technology. How is the discussion conducted? Stage 1 was creating the multilayered harmony.

The question is what we are producing, what type of a factory or workplace.

Tal: Social technology.

Meaning it’s not an actual factory, of metal, trees or bottles, you are talking about an office.

Tal: It could be something connected with education. We want to create an internet platform for people to be able to study.

In other words, it's not working with still material, the vegetative or animate.

Oren: It has to be technology that suits any organization in whatever domain they deal, whether it’s creating wood or media products. I’m trying to understand the technology of the discussion, not the technology of creation. We have a challenge and a desire to develop something in a specific domain and no one has any idea how. We are the experts, we have gathered, been chosen from all of the organization's employees to be on the Artistic Creation Team.

You have now come out of a discussion with ten people. Now, from within the connection among them, the understanding among them, the same level to which they have raised themselves, where they have attained an all-encompassing connection among them, throw in anything you want.

Oren: Let’s say I’m leading the discussion and I threw in a question. How will the discussion be conducted now?

They begin processing that question, from the new platform they have attained.

Oren: How should I treat you while you are speaking, how should you treat us while we are speaking? What happens there, what’s new in this technology?

We complement each other. Meaning, no one dismisses the other; we are not in competition, rather we accept each and every idea and integrate with it. Just as before I was integrated with nine people, now I am integrated with them as well and proceed to connect and integrate with them and all their ideas. Although according to our ego, we immediately want to cut the other down and not listen, here it’s the opposite. I, being integrated, listen even if it seems to me to be nonsense. Here, there’s an inner conflict again, yet on a different level, where we already begin to work among us on decision making.

I hear each and every one and against my will; I can ask what he means more precisely and I want to be integrated with my heart and soul as if it were my own idea. While I listen to him, I have no criticism, no ideas of my own and I truly drink what he says. So it is with each and every one, everyone being integrated with all. When I include nine and you include nine and so on, we raise our intensity much higher and multiply it, for each one is integrated with everyone else and ultimately we all attain one.

From within our connection, we thus continue and stabilize the connection among us and think only about that.

Oren: That was at the first stage.

Now it’s stage two, which is connecting to this new specific idea, in which we also create the same level of connection among us, the platform where we are all integrated in each other, based on the same idea. We were together before, only because we annulled our egos in order to be integrated with the others.

Oren: Each one puts his ego aside and comes to this connection among us, in order to create something mutual, which you called “we.”

Yes, we became as friends (Haverim), from the word "connection" (Hibur). Now we have brought in a certain idea and began to create the same mutual platform among us, with the idea inside. When we are with this idea inside and everyone is integrated together, without having anything of one's own, that is where we see the birth of a new common idea.

Oren: Supposing you open and speak first. You said that the moment you speak, all the rest have to refrain from criticizing what you're saying. Even way inside us, we don't criticize or judge you, rather we flow with you, hear you, as if silencing all of the ideas I have now and only assimilate.

In full agreement.

Oren: Afterwards, it will be my turn and is that how you will treat me?

Yes.

Oren: You said that we can ask later, in order to understand more precisely what you mean.

Yes, even though you have annulled your ego.

Oren: By ego, do you mean criticism? What exactly is ego?

The criticism, rejection, contempt and all sorts of things we always have between people. That’s why perhaps I wasn’t listening, didn’t understand, maybe I still have barriers and what’s inside of you hasn’t entered me directly, yet.

Oren: It's like when I talk to my son, when he explains something to me and I don’t understand him and I really do want to understand him, I ask in order to understand, because it is important to me to fully understand him.

Yes, that is an example. But out of love, inner connection and a desire to be in one heart.

Oren: In order to connect to what you are saying, from a pure place and not from a place of criticism, do we have to connect to what you're saying?

Yes.

Oren: How will that happen technically? Will we ask you after you've expressed yourself or in the next round?

When I express myself.

Oren: You expressed yourself, we listened, you are done.

Then you can ask. You are still inside of me; you want to be integrated within me. When I explain something to you, you use this time in order to permeate me with heart and soul.

Oren: With your idea, your words.

Yes, within me, in general. To feel what I feel, understand what I understand, enter my heart and mind.

Oren: The completion of this stage is when one of us feels that he didn’t understand you, and he’s allowed to ask questions now, in order to fully understand you.

It’s not to understand. It’s in order to be fully inside of me. It's not to understand with the external mind.

Oren: Perhaps you could elaborate on that.

All we're doing is speaking among us superficially, in order to enable the other to be integrated with me through my words, by means of these external lines of communication: the mouth and ear, my mouth and your ear. You are included in me, and so I am in you. However, the fact that you heard me and not sure you integrated with me is an emotional issue, not a mental one, since all the words are not important at all.

Oren: What do I check emotionally and how do we know that we have completely perceived what you said?

It not about perception. All communication among us is important only for the sake of us integrating with the other, because we are building a new infrastructure of the mind and heart here, the image of Man. Within this man, new ideas will be revealed, which don’t belong to our intellect at all. We are creating him on a new degree. It's like when you see your children and say, “Did I create them?” Suddenly you see that how could it be? He’s completely different and doesn’t think like you, etc…

Oren: True, I have four. It is very evident.

The same thing needs to be done here. You need for something new to be born and within it, there will already be new ideas.

Oren: I want to go back to technology. You said we won’t move on to the next person, but up to what stage?

Until you check that you have been included in me and not in intellect, rather all of you are in me, truly absorbed in me.

Oren: Please clarify what this examination is.

You feel that you remain without your “I.”

Oren: I don’t understand exactly what we are examining.

It is hard to express. We check that I don’t have my own desires, thoughts or anything of my own; rather, all of me is within the others.

Oren: And if inside, my answer is that yes, that has happened, can we go on to the next person, the moment all of the other nine team members have this feeling towards you?

Yes, correct.

Oren: We had a challenging question posed to us by whoever is leading the discussion, the project we are conducting. So far, all of the nine have completed their work concerning you; we all did that work in your regard. You were the first one to speak and all of us performed our internal interaction in your regard. You have finished. We all feel the same way and we go on to the next person, say the next person is me. Now, I’m going to refer to the same challenging question we were given to solve and will all of you do the same in my regard?

Yes, and we do the round with everyone, complete the round, in order to create a single, unified platform, where the same structure of ten layers with this specific idea exists. Meaning, we worked on a certain light, a certain force; how to receive it, how to build it in mutual bestowal unto each other.

Oren: We delved into one, multiplied it by an additional nine and completed the round. If I observed the process taking place here from the side, I'd see it was the first stage, where you worked only on quality, emotional connections among you. You completed it. The leader of the discussion, who got the team together, gave you a challenging question in some area of your production and you began relating to it one by one. While each one of you was relating to it, all the others were trying to feel him, be integrated with him as you said and we completed the circle. There were ten speakers here and each one gave his perspective in relation to that single question posed to us for discussion. The moment each one spoke, all the others tried to totally permeate him and identify with him. How do we advance regarding the solution to the challenge we were given, from a state of ten opinions?

Where is our advancement heading?

Oren: We have to solve the challenging question we were given.

No, not at all.

Oren: So why were we gathered? That’s what I’m paid for; I am a member of the Artistic Creation Team of the organization.

The integral department of Artistic Creation does not work according to this principle of producing something. It works according to the principle of connecting around an idea, or around whatever is being demanded of it.

Oren: How will it meet the requirement of the idea or challenge?

It has to be born from within it.

Oren: That is what I’m trying to clarify, how is it born, by which processes? We completed the first round exactly as you have just described, we followed you step by step. Ten opinions have been thrown into the air of the integral Artistic Team. How do we proceed?

We proceed around this idea thrown to us.

Oren: There were ten different opinions, some of which may be somehow connected.

There is one idea thrown at us, one problem, and around it we need to create unity among us. I’m explaining a method to you. The problem itself is merely a stimulus and we don’t care about it, we're not paying attention to it, because it will be solved if we raise it up to a higher degree, where it doesn’t exist. Each and every problem exists because we are not connected. And if we connect around it, remain connected, we’ll thus solve it and see it in the form of its solution; we’ll see the solution to it. That’s why the first time we had a warm-up and connected.

Oren: In the first stage, without any connection to the problems.

Yes. The second time, we connected with the problem. The first time we connected, we built the “Partzuf,” that’s what the connection among us is called.

Oren: What does the word “Partzuf” mean?

“Partzuf” is unity, connection among everyone.

Oren: Connection, a certain quality of connection.

Yes. That is when the issue is seemingly in neutral. The second time, someone from the outside throws a problem at us; it’s called that we are working on a certain "single," a kind of light, on something with everyone together. Then we create a certain action from our Partzuf here, from being organized, connected, from our group, about this problem. Yet, we need to re-connect around this problem.

Along with the problem, we need to be connected as one man with one heart; we are all included in everyone, taking part in the problem. We don’t dismiss each other or argue, rather only connect further and further. Inside, surely we have all sorts of problems of arguing, yes and no, and so on. Once we attained connection along with the second problem, we will feel a solution, because we have absorbed the problem along with our connection.

Oren: How will it be expressed in their circle?

We will feel it; everyone together understands the same solution and that there is no other one.

Oren: Is that already in the next round, after we have completed the first round about the problem?

Yes, at its end. After we have finished the round and attained the inclusive connection among us, we feel a solution. The new thing is born and it’s a solution on which everyone agrees.

Oren: How does everyone agree on it?

Because we connected around the problem.

Oren: How does this technology work?

How is your child born? From mutual work. It's the same thing here.

Oren: Each one has expressed his opinion; all the rest of us have delved into whoever was speaking, just like the technology you explained before.

Each one in everyone.

Oren: We have completed the first round, what happens now in the next round, or is there no next round. How does the process proceed?

We only have two.

Oren: We had two stages. The first one, connecting for no specific reason; the second stage is connecting following a problem. Each one offered his approach to the problem or challenge we were given.

Each one just talks about this problem as a topic, in order to connect on the next level, above the problem.

Oren: Do all the ten do the same?

Yes.

Oren: The round is over. You were first, the next person speaks and we have completed the ten. We delved into each one, as you said. What happens next? So far, we have only gone through ten stations.

Nothing happens.

Oren: Do we leave and the meeting is over?

I’m asking you what we attained in the second round.

Oren: You explained to me that we attained connection in relation to the problem.

Complete connection. We are as one with the problem inside.

Oren: And with the approaches we brought up concerning the problem.

Yes, but these approaches served only as an incentive, a stimulus in order to connect. We connected and in this connection, you feel the solution.

Oren: How is that feeling expressed?

It’s expressed in all of us feeling the same thing.

Oren: Now, are we quiet or speak in another round?

It will become clear on its own.

Oren: Where have we reached now?

In the same Partzuf we built, in that shared part we built among us, in feeling and understanding; that is where it is revealed.

Oren: Will anyone express it in words?

It is clear to all of us. Suddenly it starts to become clear; everyone has an insight or brilliant idea, which is the solution born from the connection, "as clothing Ohr Hochma in "Ohr Hasadim."

Oren: Who will express this insight, one of the participants?

It doesn’t matter who expresses it; we all feel it.

Oren: But who will express it in words and write it down?

Whoever is the secretary.

Oren: Tal will be the secretary, what will she write? Will she open a new round and say “What is the insight born among us now, let’s express it?”

No, we feel it, we don’t even need to speak. We feel that it is so. She may express it in words and write it as a protocol, but it’s clear to all of us; after all, we are connected.

Tal: What If we were not successful in reaching one solid solution?

So, there is no solution.

Tal: What is the reason, what do we need to understand from it; what wasn’t done properly?

You didn’t attain connection.

Tal: Meaning, we didn’t perform this integration well enough and perhaps we should hold

another round?

That needs to be worked on. However, if we’re talking about creativity in decision making, or creative decision making, or however you put it, it’s only after actualizing integral education practically with those people and then they will acquire such an ability. Moreover, if they are truly connected, they are capable of solving problems outside of their domain. A kindergarten teacher can come with a question about education; a physicist can come about some particle accelerator, or a doctor with a question about surgery. Anything at all, because they will be able to see creation, genuinely.

Tal: Who are the people sitting in our department of the organization?

They have to be people who went through integral education.

Tal: Does it have to be physically, or could it also be done via Skype or such virtual meetings?

I suppose it could, but I don’t know yet. It depends. A mother can feel her child from a million-kilometer distance. People are capable of connecting, but the question is if to start that way. Perhaps later on, in the future.

Oren: If we are talking about an organization, a business or small factory without a lot of people and the general manager cannot afford having ten people in such a creative development team, is it possible to have fewer than ten?

I think it’s also possible with five.

Oren: But not less you are saying, otherwise it will obstruct it.

That needs to be checked. It depends on the organization, the type of problems and when they would like to find the suitable creation. Meaning, if it's for a few months ahead, a year or two, or with a fifty year perspective. It depends on what they want.

Oren: What is your last sentence summing up about creativity?

Connection is the key to creativity.
