Reading Item 7 (00:45) "One must know, when exerting to attain the Lishma, "
1. S. (02:05) If a person is already in a state where he wants to work on Lishma , he doesn't need advice ?
R. Let's say that he tells himself that he does want to, everybody says that he will understand that the purpose of creation is to reach identification with the Creator, adhesion with a Creator to resemble Him. Then how can we resemble him? Only by being in Lishma, being in bestowal, ten0% bestowal, as much as I have a will to receive it will be aimed in order to bestow. This is what he says, 'the body will agree to enslave itself to the Creator unconditionally'. And then he sees but he cannot persuade his body and the body doesn't listen to him and it constantly goes back to its evil, to its way and he tries again, again, and again, until he starts to cry out that he has to annul himself completely. Only then will he be able to enter Lishma, to begin on the path to ascent in Lishma because in Lishma we still have 125 degrees. We will start to enter the upper worlds, Assiya, Yetzira, Beria, Atzilut, and in the way we will begin to scrutinize and to see where we truly are, what is creation? Now we are outside of creation, embryonic, we are like embryonic, an embryo it is like before the embryo, something that is about to develop maybe if it will be taken care of. Now we are in that state, in Reshimot, a record that is what it is called in the language of Kabbalah that we are only a record of this spiritual vessel.
2. S. (04:42) If I bestow in contentment to the Creator is that not self-reception?
R. If your intention is to give contentment to the Creator because you contentment to the Creator and you are entirely in that and your whole action is for that, it's not receive anything for yourself besides causing contentment to the Creator and from that you will have contentment if you will have any in return, that it is considered that you are in bestowal if you are doing it in order to do it for Him.
3. S. (05:37) What does it mean according to the excerpt work in bestowal and wholeness, completely?
R.. A person doesn't know how much his intentions are truly to bestow, for the benefit of the Creator, for the benefit of the host and not for the benefit of himself. One cannot check it but rather each time he goes deeper and deeper, this is a matter of rising in the degrees. We being from the very first degree where we also think about it, that everything that I can I am doing it now only to bestow and I am not thinking only of myself. When I do that I discover that in my act there is also a part of the intention or myself. What does it come from? Because I get closer to the Creator and I awaken the reforming light. This Light shines on me more and shows me that I have inside of me, inside of my desire. Nevertheless, other desires and they are all still or partially in order to receive. Earlier I didn't detect it now I do detect it and so I begin to work on them also. And I add them also to be in order to bestow and this is my second degree in spirituality. I go deeper into the matter of Lishma, and I continue with this, I arrange my things so that it will all be to bestow and in that I begin to discover that there are their additional desires, thoughts, and actions of mine in which I am still in order to receive . I enjoy something, I do something for myself and then again I work on them in order to add them to in order to bestow. This is how each and every time I try to pass all of my thoughts and desires, thoughts are called the brain and the desires are called the heart so my brain and my heart (Mochin va Helevah) to in order to bestow to the Creator and each time more and more. This is the matter of the degrees, and this is how I rise through these degrees, 125 degrees, that is how much we have all in all and this is how we need to rise until the end of correction. We have very special work here because along the way we scrutinize ourselves, who are we deep inside, and opposite that we discover the Creator. Who the Creator is and how can we be similar to Him and how we are the opposite of Him and out of the opposite and similar we will study ourselves and Him. There is nothing in creation besides the person and the Creator who created the person and that’s it. This is our work.
S. Let's say that I arrived at some measure of the ability to bestow to be in adhesion with the Creator, how do I overcome the obstacle when He separates between me and the friends and Him?
R. It is like what you are doing right now with your will to receive that is separating you from the Creator. It is the same, you feel that in these desires that you have right now you cannot aim with them to the benefit of the Creator. Rather you are doing this everything for your own benefit instinctively, so what is instinctive? You need to stop yourself and let’s think about it theoretically. You need to stop yourself and to begin to think about how you do it so it is not done automatically, instinctively as the desire demands, but rather you want to monitor it, you want to check and criticize and scrutinize each and every step that you carry out in your head and in your heart. According to that, you begin to get closer to the Creator through equivalence of form with Him, another desire, another thought, another desire, and another thought, and this is how you gradually reach equivalence with Him. You see how much you are drawn to the Creator and the Creator is drawn to you. This is called ' I to my beloved and my beloved to me'. We will learn that in all of these actions. All in all it is not many actions to detect where we are relative to the Creator, and to resemble to get closer. In that we study the entire Torah, all of the world's all that there is a reality we learn through that, because there is no more to reality than the Creator and the person. This is clear?
4. S. (12:11) Is it possible to speak here about some limitation, restriction because it is written that as much as a person can attain or is it dependent on his ability or his effort? Are there some restrictions from the side of the Creator?
R. The Creator passes on to us His light, He shines on us in a very limited way in order to give us the possibility to grow correctly. Just like with a baby or a little child we give them such foods that it is suitable for his body just so he can absorb it and develop. Some sort of porridge or milk such things that are suitable and soft and it is the same from the Creator towards us.
5. S. (13:30) When we have the intention to bestow to the Creator, is there some effort, a strategy or true sensation?
R. We learn everything along the way, it is only according to how much you have to overcome your desire and intention so that they will be in order to bestow, in order to adhere to the Creator to get closer to the Creator. Accordingly you get intentions and this is how you get closer step by step. It is exactly how we take care of little children. As much as they need to do, this is how much we give them, help them, and teach them and bit by bit they enter a life where they can already manage themselves.
6. S. (15:00) How can we build one desire in the ten only to bestow if we are all different?
R. The desires are in each and everyone however they are all aimed towards the Creator, then we can connect these desires into a single system called soul Neshama or the ten and from it we can bestow to the Creator. One person cannot bestow to the Creator, the minimum of many is two, at least two for each one of them annuls himself towards the other and both of them can then reach a certain sum total of bestowal between them and from that point they bestow to the Creator. It is a very small bestowal, truly an initial one but from that we can begin. However we need to begin with and make sure in the group there is somehow a bit more than two, but no more than ten that already confuses people. It is too much; we are not capable according to our nature to incorporate within our heart and mind more than ten.
7. S. (16:51) Why is a successful action in the ten is that I am asking help from the Creator? Isn't it enough that I am paying in the will to receive?
R. I do not understand you, ask again and ask in a way that it will be clear.
S. Why does a successful action have to end in this that I need to ask for assistance, aid from the Creator?
R. Because you do not have the force of bestowal. Do you need to receive it from the Creator, from where else? The Creator created you only in the will to receive, he created that evil inclination, and if you also want to have that good inclination the force of bestowal then you can get it from Him according to your request.
S. Let’s say I can do some action of annulment, to annul myself and to do that I need to pay with my will to receive, so if I succeed to pay with my will to receive isn’t that called I succeeded in the action?
R. The question is how do you pay?
S. If the Creator is not in the picture isn’t that called that I am truly not succeeding in this action?
R. No, you are not working directly with the Creator, you have to work through their friends. A system is built in such a way whether you want to or not that does not matter. To bestow to the Creator you can do it only through your bestowal to the friends and this is the main obstacle. The Creator also relates to you through your connection to the friends. That is built in a way that deliberately so that you will not be connected with the Creator, which naturally is what is what you want, but you are told that you want to be connected with the Creator go ahead. In your quality of in order to bestow you can be connected to Him and where do you attain this quality of an order to bestow? With the friends, otherwise you will never come out of in order to receive.
8. S. (19:32) You said that we cannot have more than ten people in the ten, maybe less but not more. We have fourteen people in our ten and there are tens with even more people, and we also learn that ten will receive from the Creator?
R. I don't know what you mean by we received it from the Creator. How do you receive it from the Creator, I don’t understand. It is written very clearly and Rabash also talked about it more than once, that a ten is not more than ten.
S. What do we do?
R. That I do not know but in the meantime leave it as it is but later on maybe they will have to break it up, we will see, but don't say such nonsense that you received it from the Creator. Let go of all of these children's games. We received it from the Creator, the ten. Speak in an open way, concretely with what you have in this world before you.
S. Are you saying that we can make changes?
R. It is possible to make changes but do not think about it for now. For the time being keep working in this way otherwise you will be doing who-knows-what.
9. S. (21:18) When you are asking from the Creator and that you are activating such a force that tells you, you don't deserve this, don't even ask, and it is like this voice that is talking and it sounds like it is from the Creator. How do I struggle with this and how will I fight this? How to turn this voice into an aid to help you and tell you that everything is before you, go forward, how can you work with that?
R. Help from the Creator always comes in an opposite manner. You do not receive help from Him so that He takes you by the hand just like a grown up helps the little one and walks together with him, no. You receive each time obstructions and I have known you for many years and now you each time, you have all kinds of obstructions but your work should be more precise to work against these obstructions, to realize that they are coming from the Creator and those disturbances themselves are the help. That if you will build a connection with the Creator above those disturbances you do not need anything else, you will reach the goal.

10. R. (26:51) This means that in any case if we try to perform some actions that bring us closer to Lishma, for her sake, in that we already give contentment to the Creator. Even though we do not feel what we are doing, we don't attain it, we don't discover it but we are doing it. You should believe the Sages that this is what they already discover and they see. There are not so many questions, interesting.
11. S. (27:35) Can I connect with the friends in the ten if there are I5, I can think of them as ten qualities as ten attributes and not as fifteen?
R. We are not yet counting ten or fifteen more or less, I said what I said but there is nothing that we can do about it, we are still continuing with what we have. There are groups that are five or six or seven people, there are groups that are almost fifteen people, it doesn't matter. It was like this with Rabash also, for the time being we are moving on and not thinking about this direction of exactly ten. It is not a matter of quantity or number.
12. S. (28:41) Why is the sensation of low Lishma more important than Lishma?
R. Because you are not yet in Lishma and you are in low Lishma, it is important to you, it is your life.
13. S. (29:04) What does it mean that the path to attain this goal?
R. It is not committed by time but according to the efforts that we invest. If a group tries to keep, to implement what they read then it happens quickly for them. And there is a group who is a bit more lazy and so they draw the time and so it happens a bit more slowly on the path. It all depends not on people; it all depends on the friends in a group, and it is not that every day they have another ascent but whenever they implement it and then they have an ascent.
14. S. (30:16) What do you need to do in order to not fall from the state of low Lishma because the will to receive keeps telling you that you keep adding more and more?
R. Just hold on to the connection with friends, just hold on to the connection with the friends and nothing besides that. That is how it is.
15. S. (31:03) The ten is in some degree of low Lishma let us say, how do we burst into the next degree of Lishma together or at least advance, what is the method to move forward quickly? You said beforehand, to get too lazy, what is the method here?
R. The method to awaken all in all in the ten each time the greatness of the goal, a permanent fire as it is called, and towards that we should all constantly get closer and closer to each other and understand that the Creator is in our center each time more and more and more. Even if it is unpleasant, even if we forget about it, that we have to work on it. Later on we will truly feel hatred and rejection and all kinds of states that are unpleasant and opposite to what we read. However, nevertheless we have to keep going forward towards the scrutinies about the connection. It is all only towards connection inside of which the Creator is revealed.
16. S. (32:54) How do we recognize that we are already doing some actions of Lishma?
R. If you detect an action of Lishma you will feel it, and because corresponding to that you will have an illumination and a feeling of getting closer to the Creator.
17. S. (33:23) Here the author really emphasizes that many will die without wisdom in the path of low Lishma. It says many have fallen and will fall will in the field working in low Lishma and will die without wisdom, what is this?
R. To fall, have fallen and will fall means that they left the path of getting closer advancing entering Lishma. There are many such who begin and then they leave and it is not because the Creator doesn't want them but because they did not have a sufficient effort that they invested in order to reach Lishma. They say that a person who comes to the upper Court is asked only two things. Do you engage in the Torah? Meaning did you want to reach through all kinds of means the reforming light and did you expect salvation, that this light will come to you and will advance you? Two questions: did you engage in the Torah, and did you expect salvation, that is all. Every person is suitable for that, each one according to his soul. There are souls with a greater desire there are souls with a smaller desire however nevertheless this is how it will happen.
S. Maybe to be more precise, it is said here that the Creator enjoys from this that we work in lo Lishma and it is difficult for us to enjoy in this work. Can we, as the Creator as He enjoys from this work in low Lishma, can we resemble Him in some way that even though we are in low Lishma to enjoy from this work?
R. Try, try.
18. S. (36:16) What does it mean to control one's heart?
R. To control one's heart it's a problem, this is what I have to ask from above from the Creator that He will rule my heart I myself cannot rule my heart. The heart means the desire, the Creator created the desires and He manages them constantly turning them and so it turns out that as it is written the heart of ministers and kings is in the hands of the Creator. Our heart is in the hands of the Creator.
S. What actually do I need to ask of the Creator for Him to control my heart?
R. Yes, the way that you want to rule your heart this is what you have to ask the Creator that this is how He will rule it, the control is in His hands.
19. S. (37:32) He writes that it depends on those who qualify and according to their control over their heart, so what is in the hands of the person if he does not control his heart either?
R. Prayer and work with the friends. Out of this, once again prayer. Besides raising MAN nothing is in our hands and also the conditions for raising MAN we receive from above. Rather if we raise our sensitivity through connection between us which is the mutual form that needs to be between us and how each one shall help his friend then we reach a lack for connection and this lack for connection we reach for above and accordingly we grow, that is the work. Don’t ask for anything from what you are lacking, rather check what you have and see that you have it. And then out of what you reveal then ask. Because then your request will truly be for the need of connection, unity, and a plea to the Creator. Or ask Him to teach you how to pray, yes? We ask of the Creator to help us to understand how to turn to Him. Is that clear?
S. Why doesn’t Baal HaSulam tell us that, does it not weaken us on the path and it says it is a high goal and you do not know it but you are going to reach and it’s worth it and if you do not reach it you will lose everything. Here he says that there is some sort of reward in the end and if you do not reach it that is okay, this still gives contentment. Why does he tell us that?
R. You are asking me like in a profession, like you are some captain on a ship and it is clear to you that if you have it you have it and if you don't you don't, you take command, you do this and that, right, that suits here. Here we have to learn from the doubts from the questions, from despair from all sorts of things that we ourselves need to find a way here and there, that as if we find them. The Creator does this for us like we are playing with kids, that’s also being for them and against them and that they will be in the middle and they will learn from this whole game of life. That is how we need to make the effort to do, meaning to play in connection and see just how capable and incapable we are. Just to see how much the Creator helps us or not so much or maybe even disturbs us, that He is hiding and being revealed and then in this whole game of for and against we are learning him that is what we need ultimately to learn Him. Because we need to reach up and all the way until the Creator, as it is written. Not that we will perform correct or incorrect deeds. Rather in these actions we will learn Him, we will make a copy of Him, a copy of the Creator and then we will be called Adam, similar to The Creator. Thus this entire system is built from such states that you are mistaken and then you advance, you are mistaken and then you advance and ultimately you see a thing and its opposite. That only of two, as a created being you can put together your form of the world, of your system of relations with the Creator, that is how it works.
S. How knowing lo Lishma gives contentment to the Creator and this too is great and excellent, how does this help us to study Him?
R. Low Lishma helps us to understand how to reach Lishma, why the Creator did it specifically in such a manner so opposite, and that we learn a matter from its opposite. Then we remain as created beings and along with this you have attainment and complete understanding of the Creator. It is a wonderful thing when you begin to attain, you understand what wisdom and what good attitude and what love that was all done. He does not corrupt any tendency in us, that He cares for our ego, that it will remain and that we will always reveal light out of the darkness.
20. S. (43:26) Here it is precisely that man's thought is incapable of appreciating the true merit and value of bringing contentment to the Creator. We still say that in our state we should actually constantly speak about the importance of the goal, about the importance of giving contentment to the Creator, but here it says one's mind is not capable of that and on the other hand we do need to do it?
R. Yes of course as much as you are capable. If we want to reach to bestow even to bestow in the intention to bestow, in this we are bestowing contentment to the Creator. Just like a baby even though he does not know but in this that he exists and he's already awakening pleasure in his parents.
S. The importance of the goal, can it grow or fall or is it something that you can measure, or I just engage in it?
R. Importance of the goal we must awaken between us in the group, to enlarge it and only in such a manner will we be able to advance.
21. S. (45:00) A friend of the ten now has a corporeal problem that makes him be in the corner and helpless. What is the response that the friend should have so that it will be Lishma, how should we respond?
R. The entire group, if it is a serious problem, must connect and ask from the Creator to pray that this blow will pass, that it will divide among everyone and then each one will have a bit and you will overcome it without any problem, that is what needs to be done. It is not a problem with a friend but rather it is a problem of the group, that is how it comes from above. Then you are being checked now, just how much you really feel yourselves as a group. In a group there is nothing that belongs to one person even though it is revealed through one but rather it is aimed for the entire group from above, from the Creator, so accept it correctly spiritually and then you will see just how much it adds forces and a sense for you.
S. The problem is always in the connection between us, right?
R. Correct.
S. We need to respond with greater connection to perform a certain action, right?
R. Correct.
22. S. (46:53) You said that the Creator can spoil our ambitions, our aspirations, our yearning. How does it happen, is it falls, descents, how do we respond to it?
R. I do not know, I no longer remember what I meant but you always need to be connected between you and to the Creator and whatever will happen will happen. Until we see in greater connection a step forward, that this is what saves.

23. S. (53:01) The person out of experience over time he sees that faith and bestowal elevates him from one day to the next. So what does it mean then that he is working above reason? Why is it considered that he is working Lishma?
R. Because each time he rises he rises in degrees of faith above reason he needs to make efforts on these efforts he receives a force from above that raises him and not that he himself rises.
S. What else can you add to ask maybe about, there is judgment and there as a judge, that he calls that work of Lishma?
R. That you don't know how you ascend and how exactly you need to ascend and who always needs to be as new in your eyes, it’s not that you get used to things and you know what to do and you just keep adding a bit as if all the degrees are before you and you just stride along them. No. It’s always as concealed states and only in your effort and performing actions above reason that you can then worry that they will exist.
S. So what is judgment and a judge in this?
R. A judge in the judgment is on the side of the Creator.
24. S. (54:42) Maybe you answered it, but I don’t understand. The moment that a person studies Lo Lishma he’s under concealment and the concealment is the opposite of what it says here that within reason he cannot see that if he’s doing things incorrectly he’s punished and if he’s doing things correctly then everything is fine and good, so how can we accept these two things?
R. You are saying something correct meaning when I enter Lishma then everything revealed to me, will it all be clear? So then how do I advance in such a state that everything is clear, what do I get out of this so I'm going according to my reason, my mind. I chose to go above reason because within reason I am advancing in what’s called this world, in the spiritual world I advance according to the force of above reason, meaning not according to my mind and sensation rather according to my mind and sensation of bestowal according to a new style I'm going to open reality as much as I can bestow I want to invert myself from reception to bestowal. I want to be a creature that acts according to the quality of bestowal and not according to the quality of reception and that is how I advance now in spirituality.
S. This means that only this intention enables me to see within reason that this is how it is?
R. You cannot see anything within reason.
S. But here he writes that if a person does this then he's within reason.
R. In his reason that is above reason meaning that he reveals it in his vessels.
25. S. (57:00) He says that he should understand within reason with complete and absolute understanding that there is none higher than this so you have to use your reason your mind.

How can I think above reason it’s still not clear to me. What is this concept it’s not clear to me of above reason, I should be thinking differently or what should I do, what should I think about?
R. Think how to give to donate to bestow contentment to the friends and through them to the Creator.
S. Just annul before for the group and I don't care what happens.
R. Yes.
S. This is above reason?
R. That’s above reason.
Rav. Friends I just want to tell you one thing. This topic above reason it is the main topic that is the passage from the corporeal world to the spiritual world from where we don’t feel the upper force and where we begin to reveal and feel Him. That we can stand upon this however much time is necessary just in order to enter Lishma to open up for us what the spiritual world is called. So be patient with it just like anybody who learned in university, you know you have to learn five years, so five years until I have a profession and it’s the same thing here we need to learn a long time until we get used to it. Can we do all of these things externally maybe in a fast manner? It’s possible that if we will connect more between us we will shorten our entrance, the time of our entrance into Lishma only according to the extent of connection between us. I recommend that you think about it, write it down and look at it each time that you reach a dead end, so what to do? To overcome in connection in the group and once again to see the future that is before you and in front of you out of despair out of this that you don't know, only one thing we have connection and out of that we see the next degree.
26. S. (01:02:04) Here in the middle of the excerpt he writes that if one doesn't follow the laws of the Torah of truth one is punished instantly. What is punishment?
R. Standing in place means he begins to descend from what he had to annulment of reason, yes his reason becomes more corporeal, more lowly he understands less, feels less, he descends to a state of ordinary people.
S. It's also manifested in the attitude towards the friends in the ten?
R. Possibly, yes possibly, usually yes, let’s say immediately it’s felt it’s also according to the personality of each one.
S. He also writes here in the excerpt that if one can detect it then he also knows how to distinguish between the good and the bad.
R. Yes.
S. So how do we with all these states of punishment it’s actually help from above right?
R. Correct, it’s all assistance even there are people you think it's people it’s all assistance. Creator is the good that does good and only out of this He gives us elations and thus it’s like a father that sometimes let’s say gives blows to his kid but it’s out of love in order to teach him.
S. So how do we accept these punishments also when we know that spiritual work has to be with joy? How do we not fall these states of punishment into an even worse state, but rather take it as an opportunity as an additional deficiency.
R. It all depends on the support of the group, truly so. If the group supports you advance almost directly they hold you they support you that’s how you advance.
27. S. (01:04:31) Not too long ago we had a complete period of time when we were studying about faith above reason for quite a long time and right now Lishma has become for me as something that is even more difficult to have a grip on with my hands and understand it.
R. Faith above reason is the state, what is it that you asked?
S. I was asking about Lishma, faith above reason versus Lishma.
R. Lishma is for the sake of the creator. Faith above reason means that bestowal is above reception, as a rule it indicates one state it depends in relation to what. If it’s in relation to my measurements or it’s in relation to how I turn to the Creator.
28. S. (01:06:45) Are we judged according to the law or according to our conscience?
R. There is no such thing in spirituality, the rule is the conscience.
29. S. (01:07:03) In the life of each one of us there is a great past and also a very heavy present for some of the friends, and the future which is designed by the Kabbalists, so where should we focus our attention? What can we do about these times?
R. We don't need to make any difference in times, rather in states. I need to be connected to the group and with the Creator inside the group and not to separate. That's called me and the group and the Creator are together and all the time and strengthening and strengthening this connection together that’s what needs to be, I don't need anything besides this. If in all the states I go through in my mind in my heart different events in my life if I hold myself in this manner I begin to feel that as much as I hold it together yes, me the group and the Creator that’s called Israel the light and the Creator are one, out of this I don’t need anything else I suddenly see that my whole life is managed specifically from this out of this.
30. S. (01:09:04) Is the feeling of sorrow that I cannot bestow contentment to the Creator, is it considered a spiritual sensation?
R. Yes.
31. S. (01:09:16) Is a state of Lo Lishma a state where we should be happy or should we hate it and try to come out of it as quickly as possible?
R. You need to understand that it’s a degree that from which we reach Lishma.
32. S. (01:09:34) How do we reach the understanding that we are giving contentment to the Creator?
R. Out of sensation, out of that it’s revealed to us.
33. S. (01:09:52) How to respond to friends in the group that always sound negative and hopeless?
R. That’s very nice. That same person needs a great correction.
