Part 1 Rabash. Record 42. Serve the Creator with Joy

Hello. We are reading from the writings of Rabash, Volume 3. Article 42, Serve the Creator with Joy. We can study materials on Sviva Tova and the Arvut systems.

Serve the Creator with Joy.

M. Laitman: We have a short article of Rabash, so let's read it and study it. These are important things, to serve the Creator and with joy. How we connect these two things?

Reading Article: (00:45) Serve the Creator with Joy

The Zohar asks, It is written, “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted.” A servant of the Creator, whose intention is to bestow, should be happy when he is serving the King. If he has no joy during this work, it is a sign that he lacks appreciation of the greatness of the King.

Therefore, if one sees that he has no joy he should make amendments, meaning think about the greatness of the King. If he still does not feel, he should pray to the Creator to open his eyes and heart to feel the greatness of the Creator.

Here the two discernments develop: 1) He should regret not having a sensation of the greatness of the King. 2) He should be happy that his regrets are about spirituality and not like the rest of the people, whose regrets are only in order to receive.

We should know who it is who gave us the awareness that our regrets should be over spirituality, and we should be happy that the Creator has sent us thoughts of spiritual deficiency, which in itself is regarded as the salvation of the Creator. For this reason, we should be happy.

M. Laitman: Meaning, it could be that a person is in a spiritual process, but he is not happy, or it could be that actually, no, that he has joy from it, that he is in a certain mood from the spiritual process. But however it will be, we need to see, according to a person's mood, whether he regrets that he is in spirituality, or that he is happy that he is in spirituality. This is the whole article.

Question (W MAK): (04:15) How do we come to such a state when our corporeal suffering becomes secondary? How do we start to suffer due to the lack of the spiritual?

M. Laitman: How do we move towards spirituality, if the most important thing for us is not where we are spiritually, is probably what you want to say. Simply due to us lacking strength in life.

Student: I used to think that if you are in spirituality, you are in joy, but you may be in advancement, and there is no joy. I remember you talked about how the Rabash tried to raise his spirit. So, can it be that you are in advancement, but there is no joy?

M. Laitman: Yes, it could be such that you are advancing, but you don't have the joy from advancing.

Student: Is this correct, or should you change something?

M. Laitman: It's not correct or incorrect, it's simply the state.

Question (W MAK): (05:46) What is joy for the Creator?

M. Laitman: We depict what the Creator wants from us, what He awaits from us. We bring pleasure to Him with our states, and then we could say if we are bringing Him contentment from our states or not.

Student: How do we hold on to adhesion with the Creator, considering the disturbances?

M. Laitman: The thing is, we can feel our relations to the Creator and His relation to us, our relations between us, with the Creator, and accordingly to move forward. So, always ask Him that He will not forget us, and that He will include us in His work.

Student: What is the joy we have to feel when addressing the Creator?

M. Laitman: The joy from addressing the Creator needs to be that I aspire to the connection with Him. I want to be connected to Him and with the Creator. This feeling of necessity of being, of yearning to the Creator, fills me up and gives me joy.

Student: What is the blessing that will bring joy?

M. Laitman: Each time, in turning to the Creator, we need to bless Him that He gave us the possibility to feel even a little bit of spirituality, and to distinguish how we can be closer to Him or further from Him. That's important for us.

Question (MAK 11): (09:09) When we are in a state of realization of evil, this is far from joy. But it says we need to be in joy. How do these combine?

M. Laitman: It's because recognizing your spiritual state, you have it nonetheless. You feel that you are not in spirituality, but you need to be in it, and this recognition should already bring you a certain measure of joy.

Question (Eng 1): (09:58) I'm always dubious of any feelings I have, because I know that I'm deeply disingenuous to the world. This state of being brokenhearted, how do I know it's genuine? As much as it would be at a funeral of a friend, when I realized I was grieving for myself, not truly for the friend who died. It's all about me. So how do we make this genuine?

M. Laitman: How to do it so it would be sincere? I cannot say, but the fact that you feel these deficiencies of the friend, and you want to benefit him, that's already the truth. Therefore, try to feel what the friend feels. Try to participate in his sorrow, and afterwards, try to reveal in your deficiency actions that can fill up your deficiency. In this way, you'll fill up the deficiencies of the Creator.

Question (W Azerbaijan): (11:51) There is joy that comes from despair as a result of us realizing who this despair came from and how far we are from the Creator. And there is joy when you are in an ascent, and you feel this joy that's in your feeling from the smallest adhesion with the Creator in the Ten. Is it possible to make these two types of joy equal? Are they different degrees?

M. Laitman: These are different degrees, different sources of joy, or even different feelings. This is why you simply need to feel that in each one of your states, you search in what way you can come closer to the Creator. That's our main task. Out of whatever state we feel, it necessarily comes to us from the Creator. So, we want, out of whatever state it is, to come closer to the Creator.

Student: So, you can't make them equal?

M. Laitman: No, we don't need to do that.

Question (W PT 23): (13:32) It says in the excerpt: If he doesn't feel, he needs to pray to the Creator, so he feels the greatness of the Creator. What's the difference between asking to get the greatness of the Creator and that I get the taste of the work, because the taste feels egotistical. So how is the greatness of the Creator not egotistical?

M. Laitman: Yes, there's a feeling this way and the other way, that's correct. We need to try to reveal the Creator, who's in the center of all of creation and fills up all the worlds, all of the discernments, the degrees, us, with all the goodness. If we're incapable of feeling this, then we have a problem.

Question (W MAK 123): (14:56) We've reached the mind that we want to pass on the light and we want to make an effort to please the others. How do I connect my spiritual center to the spiritual state of the group?

M. Laitman: You need to aspire to a state that all other states in the group will be only towards a spiritual ascent.

Student: Another question. We have to realize love of the Creator. What is each friend lacking to understand with what can they fill the Creator?

M. Laitman: Can I ask on demand that the Creator will explain to you? He'll show you what you need to do in order to fill him up.

Question (W Lithuania 5): (16:07) When the person is in the group, it's very easy to be joyful and when we are together, especially physically, but when that togetherness is finished, the ego is just running its havoc, its anger and its frustration. So, what is the advice to a person?

M. Laitman: When a person remains alone, then it's very hard for me to say what he needs to do. He needs immediately to enter into some kind of reading or hearing of the kabbalistic sources, mainly it's Rabash, and this will save him from his fall.

Student: Another question. This morning, it was suggested by you, this exercise for the Ten. Can we please encourage each other, each Ten, to do this exercise about each friend?

M. Laitman: Ask and talk about it. Explain to everyone so each one in the Ten will understand what is being spoken about and what is the problem that is in front of us, and in this way, you will advance.

Question (W MAK 56): (18:31) How does the Creator open the eyes and the heart of a person with His greatness?

M. Laitman: How does the Creator do it? We don't talk about it. The Creator does it through the light.

Student: So, it's in the feelings, yes?

M. Laitman: Yes, it's in the feelings.

Question (W Spa): (19:12) Our work is made up of two parts. What steps does the Zohar suggest in order to feel joy in the spiritual servitude? How can we work on the lack of greatness in the Ten?

M. Laitman: In the Ten, we can correct the lack of feeling of the greatness of the Creator. You can do that only when in the Ten we're speaking about His greatness, to what extent the Creator is important, to what extent this tendency to Him is important, to what extent the feeling of the Creator is something very lofty, the highest possible thing, and how we can speak between us and be in this mutual work so that each one will help the others in the Ten to hold the Creator all the time above the head. That’s our work.

Question (W ITA): (20:37) Being in spirituality gives joy. How to understand that we are truly in spiritual joy, knowing the true self, beyond our own self?

M. Laitman: We can feel spiritual joy that we give the Creator a possibility to connect us together more, to embrace us more. That's basically certain that by that I come closer to the Creator, and I bring all of the people closer to Him.

Student: What is to be or to do, receive joy from the Creator and give the same joy to others?

M. Laitman: We need to ask for that, to truly ask for it to happen.

Question (Turkiye 2): (22:35) How can I be ready for all these states? How can I turn the sparks of yearning into a big flame?

M. Laitman: That's through your desire and the work with the friends, that you all together pounce, jump on this feeling of the Creator, and you want to reveal Him and connect to Him all of your good feelings. Then this will truly happen.

Question (W MAK 23): (23:19) What is the lack of the spiritual in the Ten? How can we feel it?

M. Laitman: It means that the Ten is not working on raising the spiritual importance, the greatness of spirituality. Therefore, it doesn't aspire to it so much, doesn't yearn for it so much.

Question (W MAK 19): (24:09) On the one hand, we want to have a free, independent choice. On the other hand, we come to there is no one else besides Him. Should the prayer be the same in both cases?

M. Laitman: The prayer could always be any prayer, any words, any feelings. That's not important.

Student: When can we pressure the Creator more? When we are in an ascent or when there's a feeling of a descent?

M. Laitman: When there's a feeling of a descent, we can press more on Him.

Question (W MAK 36): (25:00) I don't have any strong joy. With time, it's something I feel more inside. What should the joy be like? Is it something you kind of conceal inside, or should you enjoy that you're serving the Creator?

M. Laitman: Joy needs to be common, including everything.

By the fact that you are speaking and that you are speaking with your friends, and by that you express your desire to reach the Creator in order to fill them up. That is joy.

Question (W MAK 36): (26:01) At the beginning of the lesson, you said a person is either in sorrow that he has a lack of the spiritual or he is in joy that he is in the spiritual. So, should I sacrifice my ego for spirituality. At the same time, it's a big desire to have joy that I need to learn to sacrifice and rise above the ego. How do we realize this transition? Is this a one-time event or is this a path?

M. Laitman: You're confusing all of us with your thoughts, with your calculations. We just need to be very precisely directed. I want to unite together all of the people that have these questions to the Creator, all the people, men and women, that in our connection we will demand the Creator to be revealed more to us.

Student: So, then I myself am confused constantly because it pulls you in, and you walk and you want it, and then you fall back into the corporeal and then you're not in joy anymore. I'd like to cross and it seems close, but…

M. Laitman: Pray, pray, I cannot recommend anything else.

Question (PT 6): (28:13) At the end of the day, there’s no one to rely on other than the heavenly Father. Who is He?

M. Laitman: That is the upper force that’s revealed towards us and shows us beyond our state that we can be connected to Him, to the Creator.

Question (Kyiv): (28:43) You said that we together fall onto the Creator. We push on His revelation, add all our good feelings and then He is revealed. What does it mean that in some effort we connect all the good feelings so that He is revealed?

M. Laitman: In our efforts we want to connect between ourselves. and this is our common desire. We connect to the Creator and we want to reveal through it a connection to the Creator. So, connecting in a common desire between us and with the Creator, in that state we can receive from the Creator a desire to give. In the desire to give we can feel ourselves and the friends and the Creator all together.

Student: That's interesting. What is this desire to give that we feel in our desire for the Creator?

M. Laitman: To fill up the desire of another means it's the desire to bestow.

Student: It's a revelation of the Creator in something?

M. Laitman: It's not a revelation of the Creator, it's what I want to give to Him.

Question (W Heb 2): (30:42) Asking for balance between His oneness and the hope that the connection with the soul will be corrected. Can we approach it like this?

M. Laitman: Yes, it's possible to approach the question this way.

Question (W MAK): (31:16) Is the joy in the work a reward in faith above reason, the true joy?

 M. Laitman: True joy in the work is a reward above the mind, above reason.

Student: If there is joy and faith, and faith above reason, what is that joy?

M. Laitman: The biggest joy is there, because there a person is fully connected to the Creator.

Student: In the Ten, do we need to feel that we're bringing the Creator joy?

M. Laitman: Of course we should. This should be our demand.

Student: This will be one singular joy of the Ten, a single feeling?

M. Laitman: Well, it's not the only one, but...

Question (PT 20): (32:26) You said that you feel that you're not in spirituality, but you feel that you need to be there, and this already needs to bring you joy. In what way? When a person feels it, usually it feels like frustration, but why does that need to bring joy? How do we do it?

M. Laitman: Actually, it's not our task now. Our task is to learn to strive for the Creator from every state.

Student: A person that needs to be in spirituality, but is not, how does he need to work with that sensation?

M. Laitman: Ask, pray.

Question (Hadera 1): (33:34) The reason for lacking the feeling of the greatness of the King or the kabbalist, can that grow the desire to receive?

M. Laitman: Usually not.

Student: So, what is the reason for lacking that feeling of the greatness of the King? Yesterday the kabbalist had that feeling, today he doesn't. What's the reason?

M. Laitman: That he descended himself to the yearning for the greatness of the King.

Student: It's not advancement on the path?

M. Laitman: No.

Question (W MAK 104): (34:24) We are always asking for the connection with the Creator. How, out of any state, do we immediately connect to the Creator, to always come closer to Him? Why is this not working out?

M. Laitman: Through a prayer, with the help of a prayer.

Question (Moscow 1): (34:49) Can we say that the Creator's greatness is that He conceals His greatness and at the same time always advances us?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: How do we use that in the Ten?  He is concealed.

M. Laitman: But we need to take a certain example from Him.

Student: How do we do it?

M. Laitman: Try to help all your friends on the path and not demand anything in return.

Question (W Latin 13): (35:47) When you say that we will reveal when more love is revealed between us, this love comes to us from the Creator? Do we need to feel it, and between us we need to feel that we love each other?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (W MAK 25): (36:27) If in the Ten we feel this lack of joy, then in what way do we need to feel joy?

M. Laitman: Just feel where you are. In that case you are in the Creator.

Student: And then we feel shame and out of that we come out to joy?

M. Laitman: Of course. How can you be sad if you feel the Creator?

Question (W MAK 23): (37:19) In the Ten we are working in love and bestowal or concern for one another. Whenever something happens, we go through it all together in a sense. Is that the spiritual work?

M. Laitman: This is the spiritual work, but for you it goes very, very hard.

Question (W SPA): (38:09) What does it mean that the Creator sends us thoughts about the spiritual deficiency? How does this perception change how the Ten accepts those spiritual states?

M. Laitman: The Ten then receives all the spiritual states with joy, with understanding of the greatness of the Creator there is between them.

Question (W Eng 1): (39:11) Is this joy, pleasure of bestow that the Creator wants to give us, and is the joy an indicator that we have reached equivalence of form with the Creator?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: When we are in Lishma, because we come into the Congress the goal is Lishma. We should be aiming to reach this joy of bestowal? It's a sign that we're in Lishma?

M. Laitman: Yes, yes.

Student: When we meet physically, we tend to confuse physical joy that we receive in our ego with the joy of bestowal. How can we come to this Congress next year to be sensitive that the joy the Creator is talking about is the joy of bestowal?

M. Laitman: The question is what you are lacking. What do you want to happen in the whole reality? What do you want the Creator to do in the group?

Student: For the Creator to give us pleasure in bestowal so that we will truly be servants of the Creator, because the world we live in depends on us. If we don't do this work there will be no light in this world, and we are called to do this work.

M. Laitman: Yes, so what? Of course.

Student: When I hear in the morning lesson, we're talking about Lishma, we're talking about joy, I'm praying. I want us to pray for this.

M. Laitman: Yes, yes, but we have to understand this and demand this from the Creator.

Question (W MAK 97): (42:34) To what extent is it important to play at joy if you don't feel it in the current moment? It's a situation where some states change, and you don't always feel it.

M. Laitman: We have to tune ourselves for joy, for bestowal and you'll see to what extent this advances you more quickly.

Question (W Kavkaz 1): (43:14) There is this feeling that it's harder to pass joy than to pass a deficiency. When we unite and immediately feel the friend's need, to fill her up with joy is much more complex. Is it truly so?

M. Laitman: This is correct. This is a correct feeling.

Student: And I have a feeling that if I warm her up internally it's more effective than my words.

Question (W Kavkaz 1): (43:52) I can express spiritual joy with these poetic words as yearning and other such words. It's like the sum of certain states and feelings and connecting them evokes a certain paradox of joy. Is that the depiction of spiritual joy? Or is there further movement out of this sum of actions through which we connect all this to the Creator?

M. Laitman: You can't connect with the Creator through a negative feeling.

Student: Meaning, it needs to be something. It's not just like the sum of these opposites that I love, but I'm also suffering. That cannot be, so from that I need to choose something. How do we elevate/ How do we rise from this?

M. Laitman: You can only raise yourself to a spiritual action only through the desire to give.

Student: This is up to the Creator’s will?

M. Laitman: No, it doesn't mean to bestow. Bestowing means giving from yourself to others.

Student: I wanted to feel this topic of joy, but it's kind of difficult.

M. Laitman: Because it's true.

Question (W SPA): (46:12) In the past we talked about that we don't discuss our inner states among the friends. What do we need to talk about in the Ten so that we'll be able to reveal the Creator? Or the feelings that we feel in the Ten when there's a spiritual movement that they will be spiritual feelings?

M. Laitman: You have to establish between yourselves, in the Ten and between the Tens,  such discussions as a result of which everyone will understand that they're in connection a clear connection, that this connection brings you closer, and that each one of us came to the Ten, to the group, because he has experience that he can be in prayer to the Creator about unity and about the revelation.

Question (W Brasil): (48:31) The article says serve the Creator with joy. The Creator is the good that does good, and there's none else besides Him. What do we need to be afraid of when we reveal that we need to come closer to spirituality?

M. Laitman: We need to be afraid of that. We can demand something from the Creator, but all our plans, all our requests, have to be such that we would have an opportunity to bestow something onto Him.

Question (W Kyiv 7): (49:43) What is to live in the Ten out of the greatness of the Creator?

M. Laitman: To live in the Ten in the greatness of the Creator is when the whole Ten and all the friends think only about revealing the greatness of the Creator and to move forward only from the feeling of His greatness.

Student: I have a small request for you to write us a book about the Creator's greatness

M. Laitman: Write to me, and I'll try. The best thing is to tell the student who is the one that writes.

Question (W SPA): (51:15) Can we lose the point in the heart after it gets revealed?

M. Laitman: No.

Student: Another question. In spirituality is there a difference between joy and happiness? Is it felt in the same way?

M. Laitman: There is a difference.

Question (W MAK 26): (51:50) Serve the Creator with joy, is that speaking about how a person orients himself towards connection, that very calibration in the intention, or is this a permanent state?

M. Laitman: This can't be constant. He needs to think about this, but he can't be in this all the time

Student: So, we can use this article each time we are getting ready for meetings to orient ourselves?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (W MAK 19): (52:39) The desire to receive in Lo Lishma grows thicker and wider than the typical desire for oneself?

M. Laitman: No, there's none.

Student: Can we develop in the work in Lo Lishma consciously in the Ten?

M. Laitman: It's possible.

Student: Are there any recommendations for that?

M. Laitman: Only your desire.

Question (W PT 33): (53:45) You answered a friend that asked what do we need to be afraid of? We need to be afraid not to demand of the Creator but to search for what to bring to Him. In our prayers, most of the time, we are asking and demanding of the Creator give us strength, dwell among us, help us, direct us. As I understood your answer, I doubt if we are aiming our prayers correctly. Can you help us understand what it means not to demand but rather to bring something to Him?

M. Laitman: No, we'll talk about it later. We don't have time today to talk about this.

Question (W MAK 97): (54:57) When you feel the suffering of the people of the world, the only joy is that it all comes from the Creator, but it all sounds egoistic, because I know that there's none else besides Him, but the nations of the world don't know this. How do we pass this feeling to them?

M. Laitman: Pass it on through all possible means. Compose songs, write articles, sing. Do anything for them to realize it.

Question (W MAK 36): (55:59) The topic of joy is very sharp for my Ten all the time. We have this separation in the Ten. Part of the Ten is only in favor of joy, and then there's a part that's in different states, and that there are conditions. For instance, the condition that everyone needs to come only out of joy. If you're in a descent to turn off your camera not to sit there with a sour face. Can there be such a condition in the Ten?

M. Laitman: When a person comes to a meeting of the Ten, he needs to be in an elevated spirit. This is a necessary condition. Otherwise, the Creator won't accept his prayer.

Question (W ITA): (57:02) Before, you said that we must jump into the Creator. Everything depends on us. With what strength can we jump?

M. Laitman: The force of bestowal. To really want it, to give it to the Creator.

Question (W MAK 113): (58:06) There is a feeling that our lessons are gifting us this joy, this quiet joy, and a lot of us want to thank you, our dear teacher, for this example and the work of serving the Creator.

M. Laitman: I thank you a lot as well for telling me this.

Be well. I'm hugging all of you till tomorrow.
