Syrian Dreams of a Good Life in Israel - Kabbalist’s Response

Kabbalist Dr. Michael Laitman responds to a Syrian refugee’s dream of living a good life in Israel, with Oren Levi. The following is a loose transcript of the talk… Oren Levi: A Syrian refugee published a clip where he calls upon Israel to conquer all of Syria, and not only the Golan Heights. In his view Syrians will be far better off under Israeli occupation than they are today under Assad—a roof over my head, food, education for children—rather than hunger, poverty, and sickness in Assad's Syria today. Others also see that Arabs in Israel are far better off than they are in most neighboring Arab countries. So why don't most people accept Israel? Don't they see things for what they are? Kabbalist Dr. Michael Laitman: Yes, they do see it but feel hate as well. It is because we need to bring Arabs, and in general, all nations of the world, even better relations, ties, and connections. We Jews need to show a good attitude toward each other and a willingness to live in a good attitude toward everyone, inviting everyone to be “as one man with one heart.” It is not enough to only give people a good standard of living, but there is a kind of an emotion that must be added. Their approval of the existence of Israel depends on the measure of love between us. This is what this country exists for. Oren Levi: What do we exist in the world for? Dr. Laitman: Sages say that we need to be a “light unto the nations,” but I don't know if we are in the right direction at all. It is something that we need to do, these are eternal conditions. In Kabbalah, being a “light unto the nations” means that we will show to all of humanity, without any exceptions, that love needs to eventually braid all people together in a tight connection. In the state of mutual support, I do not look at the other person's color, shape or anything else. But if we are talking about people, then I need to elevate myself to a state where I love them. Oren Levi: And what if they come to attack me and kill me? Dr. Laitman: If this is what you will do, then you will see that no one will come to attack you. On the contrary, they will come to learn from you how to love.
