Part 2: “Hitkalelut” [Mingling/Inclusion] - Selected Excerpts from the Sources

Reader: Let's start with a special lesson from the Sukkot Congress of 2003, and then we'll work on it between us. So, let's start with a lesson with Rav.

_________________________

Reader: Hello friends, our lesson today is on the topic of incorporation. During the lesson, you'll be able to send questions to the Arvut system or through our site, where you'll also be able to find the study material. Incorporation, Rav, please.

M. Laitman: (00:59) It's a topic that I don't even know how we can appreciate it, how we can digest it because actually, this is all of creation. It all comes from incorporation of these two forces: the plus and minus, reception and bestowal. That's why it's called a creation, that it's not, the ego can't exist on its own, only upon the force of bestowal. And bestowal can exist under the condition that it relies upon the force of reception. There's no day without a night or night without a day, like Zohar states, only in the right combination between them, they can exist and that is called the creation. That's why the Creator created it in such a way that they'll be in the first incorporation He did in creation, that's a system of Adam, in the initial creation, this is the system of Adam. Then He shattered it in order to allow those parts that He has connected in a way of the force of reception and force of bestowal by Himself, by the upper force. To allow for created beings to evolve and recognize that the correct merger, the correct integration between giving and receiving can exist in such a way, and that will be creation.

Because otherwise, there's just the upper force, the light of Ein Sof, which is abstract light, which we can't even call light. It is that primordial force that existed before creation. So, our work is to do what only we can do, which is to integrate, and so as we see the world being so broad and scattered, and in conflict. No one has qualities similar to the Creator, where we already recognize that all of creation must achieve an integration with the Creator, Himself. Integration with the Creator can happen on the condition that we, between us, become integrated and thus achieve spiritual qualities. Because the spiritual qualities are not just the force of bestowal, itself, that's the Creator; and the force of reception by itself is the lower force created by the upper force. So, it is rather the correct merging between them, so by the force of reception and the force of bestowal, we build such qualities, such sensations, such discernments through which we attain creation that is similar to the Creator.

M. Laitman: (04:29) Ao, no one has spiritual qualities, rather, we ourselves must recognize what do we need and try to assemble it between us. As we are unable to assemble the qualities of reception and bestowal correctly, then we ask the upper force, which is a third force that is above us, above reception, above bestowal. Then it helps us, it actually does that work. This is called the work of the Creator but we invite it, we summon it by MAN, by a deficiency to be correctly merged between us. With this will to receive that doesn't fade and doesn't dissolve, it is rather becoming willing to integrate. To merge with the quality, with the will to bestow, so we want it to become included with, united with the will to bestow. From this unity, we build ourselves in similarity to the Creator, so the will to receive remains. There's always a spark of our state, above it, in terms of our appreciation, meaning above the will to receive, comes the will to bestow, that's how we assemble ourselves.

So from here we learn that all our work happens in society, in the right environment where one shall help his friend. Where no one has spiritual qualities and yet anyone can integrate with the group and receive from the others. The more we try to integrate against our desire, against our nature, against that force of the ego which the Creator keeps growing within us, expanding it. Increasing it within us, and yet we want to be higher and higher above it. We recognize you can't have one without the other, only the Creator can set the right relationship between the force of reception and bestowal. With these two legs, we stand and move forward, and our head stands tall above the two lines, being similar to the Creator. Which is essentially the attainment of the Creator, the similarity to the Creator that we build. Our work is not that we are looking for spiritual qualities from above – there's nothing above, there's nothing there, it all depends on our correct incorporation, integration with the group.

I am really hopeful that we are beginning to perceive these principles, and then we will recognize correctly what is the wisdom of Kabbalah? What is the wisdom of the merging, the inclusion of the created beings in order to be worthy of the Creator to be clothed in them? What else can I say, the main thing for us is also to be in a workshop where we feel our friends. We wish to portray our friends as good, corrected, at the final correction, and only I, looking at them, judging through my own flaws, I see myself opposite them. I see who I am, what I am; the friends are like a mirror, showing to me, reflecting to me how much I don't see them in an ideal way. In that, I actually learn about myself, I study myself, and I see my brokenness. All these disturbances which I encounter and that I see, they are given to me so that above these disturbances, by faith above reason, I'll see my friends as more beautiful, more lofty, more holy.

M. Laitman: (09:42) This way, I, too, become sanctified, that they are higher than me. Like Rabash writes to us in the social articles, I always want to see them higher and higher than myself, because by that, I don't consume myself for not being like them. No, I bless the Creator for bringing me to them, and by that, I can integrate with them – I can get closer to them, nd by that, I rise as well. The more I raise them above myself, through this method in this way, I elevate myself. That's where I see my whole work, and if I'm incapable of that, then I have the Creator who helps me with that. He gave me the environment, this is called, Putting my hand on the good fate and saying, take it.

So I just need to arrange my relationship with the friends, see the friends correctly, see myself as the lowest of them all. And ask the Creator each time to help me be in adhesion with them as much as possible. In general, the ego, every moment we see that it's confusing us, and we have to get used to seeing it as, Help made against thee. Meaning that this is how the Creator arranges for each and every one, and especially ourselves, that making us worthy of rising above the ego until we achieve connection. Where we discover spiritual actions, spiritual forces, that's the relationship of the Creator with us. That is basically what we need to know, in the meantime, also, from this Hitkalelut, the more we integrate with each other. As each one raises the friends higher than himself and only cares about pushing them higher in his eyes. By that, we raise the whole system of Adam HaRishon, we push forward all of humanity as well, which is becoming included with us, around us. We will discover that later on. That's how we basically correct the world.

Well, there's a lot to say about this, but what I'd like to communicate to you a little bit is my impression, inspiration from this concept of Hitkalelut. That if two opposite things do not become integrated, incorporated, then there is no creation. It's just like how our whole substance exists only because there is a higher force that holds the positive and negative forces in some relationship between them. Otherwise, they would just fly away from each other, scatter in every direction. And after the shattering, then the Creator brings them closer, and closer, and closer. All of creation becomes more condensed, more integrated with itself through the still, vegetative, and animate levels until the human level arises. Meaning where there are egoistic desires that require a force of connection that can assemble them in a shape similar to the Creator, Adam, that's what we need to do. There's a lot of questions about this, this is our work, and I think we need to, we don't have a lot of, there's not a lot of point in discussing our universe and how all these things manifest there. It's very similar to what's happening in the spiritual world, only in lower degrees. But we're going to understand this from everything that we're engaged in; in the meantime, we will go deeper into the subject matter.

Question (Kyiv 3): (15:24) How to discover, specifically, the spiritual yearning of the friends? Because altogether you see that to come to that feeling, we need to really move piles of garbage aside. From that, I want to ask: the first time I absorbed into me this spiritual yearning into my friend, what is that point? How do you hold on to it and how to expand on it?

M. Laitman: I don't really agree that we are in a corporeal relationship between us, there is no corporeality at all; it's just how spirituality seems to us. In order for us to begin to somewhat work with it, in recognizing it and rearranging it. But in truth there is only spirituality, there is no material world, it's an imaginary world. There are no friends who exist in their own separate bodies, with their separate families, in a different place, like a different country, in a different family, and so on. These are just wrappings over our will to receive. We have to see all these things as the manifestations of qualities of reception and bestowal that we need to begin working with. The friends are given to me so that I will integrate with them. The integration can happen only, like it's written in The Social Articles: that I become included with them. What does that mean? That I see them as whole, spiritual, that there is nothing corporeal in them. And I wish to integrate with them as much as I can portray them, see them in the qualities of bestowal. If I don't see it, I have to say to myself that, One judges through his own flaws. This is how I see the world, how I see the friends, but in truth, before me is the world of Ein Sof. If I acquire connection, Masach, screen, and rise each time with the force of bestowal or with the force of reception, this is called, Faith above reason. Then, right here and now I can attain the world of Ein Sof – the final correction – as there's nothing besides that. Everything else is only shaped by the filters, the screens that reduce the picture of Ein Sof to my degree.

That's why it's called world, Olam, from the word Helem, concealment, so I shouldn't look at the friends the way my eyes see them. I thank the Creator for creating this corporeal, broken vision of mine. As, One judges through his own flaws, yet I wish to portray them in their spiritual form, in wholeness. As much as I can't do that on my own, I have to make efforts and the more I make efforts, bit by bit, I see that I am in spirituality, in a world that is complete bestowal. It all depends on my efforts, so let's work on that.

M. Laitman: (19:33) You don't need to give each other such an example of relating to each other in a corporeal fashion but only in a spiritual fashion. I see my friends as angels who have spiritual qualities, and what I see is what I think I see. I lower them to corporeality through my own vision; they themselves are corrected and are all in the final correction. Meaning right now I'm at the final correction and all that I see, I see it that way because that's how I see it. No one is portraying the world this way to me besides my broken desire. I understand this is a very idealistic way of looking at the world, and it's not simple, and we may seem very delusional to people. But this is essentially the right perception. At least between us, in my Ten, I need to determine such a relationship that all the friends are corrected and whole and I'm among them in order to integrate with them and this is how I exist. I want to be with them in heart and soul.

Question (Kyiv 1): (21:27) You said that when we try to connect the force of reception and the force of bestowal, if we don't succeed, we turn to the Creator and He connects between us. How does He do that, what does it mean that He connects reception and bestowal?

M. Laitman: I don't know, it's also not important for me to know, I need to accept the conclusion of the matter. I do what's up to me, that I need to build a society where the relationships between us are similar to the network of bestowal. In that network of bestowal, we will discover the force of bestowal, which is the Creator, that's all. Think of yourselves as fishermen going to the ocean to catch the big fish, so you're putting together a net. That net is virtual, it's your forces, your efforts, you need to be in such contact all the time that the net exists. The net can exist only by each one's inclination towards the others, in that, you hope to reveal the Creator. And that's what you try to do, this is called Hitkalelut. Certainly, if someone from the group does not tie himself to it, then if there was a fish in the net, it can flee. In this work, we also have to ask the Creator to help us, to help us connect between us. To help us tie together these knots and not let them go. Have Him as an assurance of that connection, and that's how we'll advance; most important is to always be chasing connection where we want to discover the Creator so as to bring Him contentment.

Student: The Creator is a result of the incorporation, or the incorporation, itself?

M. Laitman: The Creator is I'm First and I'm Last, then There's None Else Besides Him. It's everything. We're going to see later on that except for our will to receive, which He also created in a way opposite to Himself. All the rest, the relationships, connections, they're all parts of Him, it's the way in which He appears so that we can reveal Him.

Question (ITA 4): (24:39) You said before that this integration between us, it will help the whole humanity. But this will happen as a reflection or through a specific action that this integration between us will lead to the benefits of humanity?

M. Laitman: There's a process here, but certainly, our integration passes on to all of humanity. As we integrate with all of humanity, there are many phases and degrees, there are things here that I still can't talk about so as to not confuse you. But the main thing is the integration. I can't say that there is a matter here of an integration of nations, men and women – it's multifaceted – but this is what truly determines the relationship of all the parts of the Kli that are tying themselves together. Building this network of connection so that it's all in order to bestow, and in it, the Creator will be revealed. I can't say more, we need to discover this, but certainly, all our friends from all nations that are now with us, joining us. They too are the most active part in our Kli that are building this network of connection.
