Importance of Studying Together Excerpts

1. Rav’s Introduction:

Although we have a regular order to all the lessons, sometimes we have because we can see that more and more important topics are being revealed. We need to also discuss them and learn them. The main thing is that we arrange our lesson. We learn from the source materials from the writings that the Kabbalists have defined how we need to organize and assemble in one place where we sit together, mostly in a round manner, a circle, or even this physical sitting points to a certain point of equality, order, to the fact that we want to unite. In order to reach through the connection between us to qualities of the corrected vessel of Adam HaRishon, a corrected vessel of the soul. This is why we assemble. What other goal do we have? If we were to update the connections in such a way between us, that we will each of us feel in place of himself, feel the ten at least at the ten and then into the ten more and more thousands will assemble and thousands and ten thousands of millions and billions, but it would nevertheless be the connection of a ten. Then we will feel the power of the upper force which comes and reveals, revealed in it, hence all our work has to be together with that connection and I understand that there are many questions and complaints that I can't wake up for the lesson, that I am busy with this and but we nevertheless, need to make these calculations of well, I don't learn alone. I don't study alone. Study alone is wisdom, then I'm studying wisdom. Rather, study, together is the only way to study Torah where we want to connect and invite the reforming light which is called Torah and operates on our desire as “I've created the evil inclination I’ve created the Torah as a spice” and the light in it reforms. This is what we learn for. This is called the study of Torah. Otherwise this is called idol worship and we need to completely divide between this and that, differentiate. If we learn in order to connect and reveal the Creator, the force of bestowal and love inside the connection, then we will succeed. If not, it's a waste for the efforts. It's also good but nevertheless this is the study of wisdom. It's not to reach attainment. To reach attainment we need special conditions that Kabbalists revealed, examined them on themselves and then write for us exactly what to do. We of course here like we're little ones hearing the adults and there's a chance that we will grow up to be like them. Therefore, I understand that it's hard for me sometimes to wake up for the lesson or to arrange my day such that I need to come to the lesson. Let's say like on the eastern part of the United States at 8 p.m. or maybe in, on the west coast LA or San Francisco on the west coast where it's now like 5 p.m., and certainly it is difficult but we need to somehow arrange it in another time if possible. Today when we learn from home where we don't need to drive an hour or an hour and a half to the lesson and drive back in order to be in one place but rather if we have moved to long-distance studying, each from his own, I don't think that we have much of a problem. It's less of a problem than it was before. I can hear it from my car. I can hear it from my workplace even, from home. I can nevertheless more correctly adapt myself to be with others. I just want to say that you should know that studying at a different time, not when everyone is studying, yields a different result. It's, you can't compare. Either studying together in the ten when I learn or that I study it in some other time alone or with a couple of friends altogether. There must be a Minyan, ten people and we gather, assemble so we gather not physically but rather even virtually we could say. We gather and learn together in order to connect and in the connection reveal the Creator. That is all and all what the wisdom of Kabbalah offers to a person. This is a whole lot. It's to move from the corporeal world to the spiritual world but for this is what we actually have to do. To reach the quality of faith above reason. I need to bring myself under the upper influence of the group, of the upper light that will bestow upon me through them and will draw me a little bit more outside of my ego and this can only take place under the condition that we learn together. It's best to do this in a permanent group. Of course, there are all kinds of conditions that you could say it's impossible, I can't. Then arrange it the way you can but in truth first check yourself whether you truly are not capable that the conditions that you are feeling are not enabling you to study together with the whole World Kli of BB at the time of the lesson, whether these reasons are true, real reasons and here each is with his own calculations with his own scrutiny, I understand this is not simple, it doesn't seem to me as impossible. We have seen these things for many years already and other than that just understand that from the moment that the wisdom of Kabbalah has been revealed which is 6000 years ago in Adam, the first Adam, the first corporeal Adam and since then has been cascading all the way to us, the order is that you rise at night and study. That's it that's with us. You want to wake up at night like us at two, three at night and study, you have such a possibility to do it at a different time because we are doing this and then it's the same calculation for us all. Therefore, I don't have much to add here but to say but you don't owe me or Bnei Baruch or anyone. You need to make that calculation with yourself and with the Creator. There are many people that think that they can allow themselves to learn in a different way at a different time. So I'm telling you your lifetime will pass and you will not attain anything and you will ask yourself why and then I want you to remember these words that I just said now. 2. R. This place that everyone assembles is a place where they come and connect. It's not a prayer house or a synagogue. It's a house of assembly. It's a place both spiritual and corporeal, it's called that way. Where they come in order to connect that's why it's called the house of assembly.

3. R. Just meaning, just like the Creator is for one force, one force of bestowal and our assembling in our connection needs to come to one force. We want today to resolve this question about the study so it would be clear to everyone that this is how we learn. You can yes, you can't know but you should know that this is the law and it doesn't depend on us, it's a spiritual law of how the Upper clothes itself in the corporeal manner and we need to arrange ourselves to be as adapted as possible to the upper force.

4. S. (14:40) Rabash writes here, does it mean that no one needs to enter the house of assembly before there are ten people and then everyone enters?

R. No, no, of course not, but we try that when we start to study that everyone will be there connected, be in the preparation.  That's why we're doing preparation before the lesson and we need to be precise so that we will have more and more of a beneficial effective preparation. For us to start the lesson in upliftment, excitement, great expectation in the connection between us already. That's why the preparation for the lesson needs to be very important and serious. Let's hope that we will reach that. For the time being it's in its beginning stages.

5. S. (15:46) In the last few days I feel a special awakening during the lesson. I sometimes even wake up at midnight. I can't fall asleep more than that. How is it best to use this time for preparation if you have two hours or three hours before?

R. First of all you need to arrange your daily schedule normally and not wake up three hours before that's not okay, you will have no strength and forces and you will have nerves, you'll start becoming out of hand and nervous and that's known to us. You have to arrange your life and a normal and good, arranged way. I recommend a good normal and balanced schedule but not it's nevertheless, you wake up early, then I would recommend to read the same materials from the lesson alone and think about it, how you're preparing. Then towards the lesson how you're connecting toward the friends and why, for what, for what need, what's the purpose of the study for the lesson? And then with them when you come to an inspiration and excitement that have the opportunity to connect with others and to draw the reforming light that will bind between you to reveal the Creator, then you come to the lesson. Each and every lesson is practical work. We're not in the university. We need to try between us to connect in a manner in which the Creator will be revealed. This is actually a practical action where every day more and more we want to feel ourselves more assembled together as one man and one heart. If we were to come to this at least to the measure of 1 over 125, the lowest possible degree which is the degree 125 of Ein Sof. When we come to that state, we will begin to reveal the Creator and ourselves as the vessel and the Creator as the filling.

S. Does it need to happen to all of us together in the ten or in the world Kli?

R. No, this can't even come to a ten in such a manner that some feel more, some feel less. A part of them feel it already in a spiritual manner and a part not, but all together it is being revealed. We need to understand and feel this. This can be both in a personal way or in a group way. It nevertheless depends on the group. Simply, I can't be directed to the Creator without the ten. I address through my egoistic will to receive in all kinds of directions. I can correctly aim myself to the Creator only through the ten according to what Rabash writes.

6. S. (19:22) I wanted to ask about preparation of the ten before the lesson. We heard from you several times that the ten needs to be as one when it enters the lesson. Now we are working on how to make it in a way that we will feel as one before the lesson.

R. I can't tell you, you are with me already, twenty-five years. What will I explain to you? All the writings are before you and the society that you're in for all these years, so try. Try to keep it but meticulously to keep what Rabash writes about the connection in the group. That's the first condition: connection in the group. A group or death. Connection or death. We either come to connection or we come to death, one or the other. One or the other. Here a person really needs to bring himself not immediately, but time after time, time after time, he starts to discover that this principle of connection with the group is becoming more important to him. More oriented to his fate.

S. I wanted to ask what's missing in a recorded lesson as opposed to a live lesson, as it is now?

R. It's hard to say. Spirituality operates all the time and is constantly in the air so we can't say that something's missing. A person is missing the connection towards that spiritual force that is always there and the Creator, his glory fills the world so on his behalf there's no limitation. He shines to everyone equally, but us in order to be aimed to him must be in a ten and for the ten to bestow and influence us and for it to obligate us to be in it and the friends are pressing me from all the sides and I feel them and specifically from this pressure I am turning to the Creator correctly.

S. What to do if we are living in other places in the world where the time of the live lesson is not convenient? It's difficult, it's after our workday.

R. I don't think that a lesson after a workday is more difficult, I don't think so. It's actually, a person gets accustomed to, he removes the whole day from himself and comes to the lesson. First of all, he comes today home because almost all in all of our places, they don't assemble like they used to in centers. From home he already enters the lesson. If we're talking about let's say New York so it's 8 p.m. 8 in the evening, by the lesson on the eastern coast, it's excellent. Meaning relatively, we can get along in all the places in the world towards the lesson. It is worse for them there in China, the Philippines, for them it's in the middle of the day there in the middle of the workday, India but it's not too bad. You can get along. Also if we're already assembling a different time because we have no choice where I live in a country that the morning lesson is exactly in the middle of the day and I have to be at work and this is how it is with my friends from that area from that region then we organize as the group and then we hear the lesson but together. Together, not that I do this alone. We hear this lesson together as if we are in it in real time.

S. Even if we hear a recorded lesson, I still have to assemble with the friends to give the lesson?

R. Of course you need to do intentions, you have to bestow to them and them on you, the lesson is not something that was happening there a few hours and it passed. The lesson is that we assemble to a connection between us, a new additional connection between us which is called the lesson. A lesson is called on measure, where it's another measure between us that we're connecting to okay?

7. S. (25:10) What does it mean on my part that I need to arrange my corporeal life around the lesson?

R. Well what to do? We need to arrange the day in such a way that you can be with your friends together and during the lesson if possible. According to the astronomical hours and that's considered that you make order to everything, where during these three hours everything in the world is dead. Everything is dead. I connect to my friends, into the Creator and we are in the upper world. We are entering a womb. The lesson is entrance into the upper womb. Understand?

S. If I can't, am I to blame for that or the Creator has given me this kind of a correction to do?

R. No no no, it's only under the condition that you are not capable in all sorts of external forces you cannot arrange yourself to be in the lesson with the ten. It's something that needs to be the last possible thing.

8. S. (26:50) In the UK, personally I believe we have the worst time. Our lesson starts at 1 a.m. and we've struggled for years to find the right way for friends to especially those that have young children or jobs where they have to wake up early, it's an awkward time because we can't sleep really much before the lesson and you can't get good sleep let's say after the lesson. I don't know if you have any specific advice for us. We've tried many things over the years. For now most of the friends are able to get to the lesson and to sleep but....?

R. Yes, you are actually, I really hold up the UK group and also France, I know that you're in more difficult conditions than others, what to do? I will tell you, that's a joke. It's written that a Kabbalist needs to sleep the sleep of a horse. Yes, the sleep of a horse is 60 snores, 60 breaths and to wake up and again continue to work do something until he falls asleep, he can't and again he enters into a sleep of 60 breaths. The laws and conditions that the Creator gives out later he does the calculations because all together he needs to be revealed in you and if you didn't put forth the quotient of your exertion then he won't…

S. It seems there has to be some kind of envy between the friends who can take that kind of Lifestyle that they can take those 60 breaths and get to the complete less than the complete morning lesson and then other friends that really have the kind of schedule that only allows them to be on a portion of the lesson or to have to listen to recorded mostly and it becomes a contentious issue within the tens. I'm sure it's everywhere between those friends that are there cameras on non-stop and those friends who are still with us watching and listening, recorded in this but not straight every morning on camera.

R. I will answer just one thing. The ways of the Lord are straight, the righteous will walk on them and the wicked will fall, that's it, if you want to be straightforward or righteous, you will find a way and it will say more than that I'm not capable. I'm simply incapable of that, it doesn't depend on me. But I have a job and I can't find another job and I have to be in this and or some other conditions but every thing requires both sides to be formed along with additional experiences, sensations to bring both together as one over all the differences. Let's be the generation of the correction of humanity such conditions that are not dependent on me whatsoever, because if it was dependent on me this is first thing, the lesson and then connection with the friends. All the rest is if you're doing the calculations correctly than the Creator will arrange for you even if you'll be at the lesson just for an hour or two hours I don't know if you have such conditions and not another way that will be enough for you in order to obtain and achieve what you want to achieve. You need to be straight in this, frontally towards the Creator. Not to turn to me and ask for some for me to give you some permission you know, give you a slip that you can do it this way or that way. I don't get into that because those laws are not defined by me.

9. S. (32:34) I assumed that you had such questions when you studied with Rabash or Rabash when he studied with Baal HaSulam about not coming everyday or not coming in full. If we don't carry out these laws then we will just die without attaining and there are no exceptions here, to this rule. Let's say a part of the ten gets organized and comes daily to the whole lesson and another part of the ten as if they have a feeling that they're in the ten but in practice they don't come every day to the lesson. That part that comes every day as if it was missing something or it doesn't influence them and they advance in the same way or there's maybe a point in organizing the ten?

R. Ask me about all these things, I'm just giving you the principles, the laws and you need to see how you arrange these things within your laws. Don't ask. I told you yesterday also there were several groups that started asking and I just told him the same thing, I told you. In a little bit more of a harsh way which is leading me. I don't decide these things, this was decided according to the connection of the upper spiritual world and the lower world. Do you want to open up the upper world, please these are the conditions. You need to fulfill your quotient of exertion, you need to connect between you so that the Creator will be able to be revealed in a complete Kli, complete and at least 125th of the vessel of the degree and don't turn to me I'm teaching you I'm just explaining to you like a guide what's happening, but it's not like I can change the laws of nature.

S. If I may, it seems like we are disturbing each other that's the feeling would it be better to maybe build a ten of people who go normally daily to the lesson that those two haven't defined their framework yet or still not there yet, there's a feeling like we're disturbing ourselves we cannot advance and they think that they advance.

R. I will not decide in your place do understand, I've got some experience, do you understand this and I know that if I get into all of these discussions and clarifications with you then, it's endless. Also I can't do this in place of you. You need to do this. The fact that you're bothering or helping or something else I don't know. It's not important to me. You examine again and again all the laws and decide for one month see how it works then decide another way maybe. It's all possible and given to you. Everything is given to you to do. In the world we have hundreds of groups. I'm not going to go now and arrange each and every group. I'm not a kindergarten teacher. I am a guide who tells you what to do and each group tries to adapt itself to the conditions of nature. According to my example I have no reason that could stop me from the lesson. If it's really, I don't know, I was having surgery or I'm flying to some group but there is no reason that I wouldn't be in a lesson. I told you, I immediately decided that I come I sit next to Rabash I prepare a cup of coffee for him, I turn on my tape recorder, I write down so there's a book before me and the notebook before me and I have these thick notebooks so many of them and I prepared the cup of coffee for him and I write everything down and draw and ask everything. I have to participate with him in the lesson.

S. Did you have such friends who didn't come every day to Rabash? With you in the group and how did it work?

R. No, there were barely any who left. There were a few individuals throughout the years let's say the group that existed next to Rabash from 1983 to 1991 when he passed for 8 years and barely did anyone leave. Almost no one left.

S. And they didn't miss any lessons?

R. There were a few that fell asleep during the lesson, me too, there was a period of time where I fell asleep and I asked Rabash, what will I do, I am sleeping and he said try and do.  You understand, just like you're asking me now and I'm telling you, he told me, try, it's written I can't do this work in place of you. You're building your soul through this.

S. Maybe Rabash gave some advice to those who missed the lesson or it was something that wasn't even discussed?

R. Just to raise the importance between you just to raise the importance between you and also to be ashamed but you are neglecting your friends, you are betraying the friends, you understand? If you don't come to the lesson. You're truly lowering them, you're harming them and the Creator cannot be revealed already like he could if he was with you together. That obligation, that commitment that we need to sign ourselves, tie ourselves together in such a way that the Creator will enter between us. We need to connect between us to the extent in which there is not an empty space between us, an empty place, and the Creator will be revealed specifically in that place and that physical place that won't be, that will be revealed as the spiritual place that he is going to be revealed.

S. Lastly, do I understand correctly that the one who needs to do it is the ten itself and not to consult with the management or friends from other tens?

R. Yes, but according to the spiritual laws that we learned and not that the ten can decide on making some kind of new laws and make up things.

10. S. (41:00) Today you gave us a very very strong direction. That we have to reach the quota of the effort so that the Creator will be revealed. How can we communicate this message so that people might not have their importance to come on time to the lesson or they'll come in once a while, how can we communicate this important message?

R. The group must be made up of permanent people and people that can join it whenever they can. Where we don't even ask them, whether they can or can't when they can and when they can't, but rather they too have a place. There's the foundation of the group, the framework, the frame that is permanent and the main thing is that it exists and other than that there is something additional. It could be that the group itself is seven or eight friends, the permanent ten, the group and sometimes they gather all the way to 15 maybe that I understand that's okay. That's all right because also humanity is that way. It's all arranged in circles, in circles from the central circle, to the external circle. It's not too bad if I belong to some circle in between in the middle. I know that I belong and I need to come and it's not that I'm committed. The internal circle is the one who are obliged, committed. I can't be there, someone that won't come to the lesson that won't sustain the ten. In truth, mostly, they are the ones that merit the revelation of the Creator because they built the vessel but the others also will receive illumination and they too will advance.

11. S. (43:23) Can the ten exist if in the inner core there's only three or four friends? 

R. Yes, Permanent ones, you mean that.

S. Yes, regular friends.

R. And the rest comes sometimes if there's no choice then at least that. It's better off for there to be 5, 6, 7. That, it all depends on your work, nevertheless. What are you waiting for there to be more troubles and then people will come study? That's already the path of suffering not the path of Torah. The path of Torah is where we are drawing on our own. Try. But at least that way. At least three people.

12. S. (44:30) We noticed in the ten that when we make efforts and connect and all of that, the day after in the lesson there's less attendance or we're all asleep, how can we overcome that?

R. Of course, it's that way because you put forth great forces and strengths and then the Creator adds to you, desire.  That desire now you're discovering as incapable to work with. After some time there will be a recovery and you will work with it as well. It's that way it's okay.

S. If there is this tiredness then it's because we can't sleep properly. If the reason we're tired it's because people are not going to sleep on time?

R. Next.

13. S. (45:46) You are teaching us to integrate with the friends' questions as part of the study and it happens that questions arise which are not mine, they're too big for me. The question is whether to ask these questions?

R. I need to flow with everyone, it's not the wise that learns. The wisest one who wants to obtain the light of Hochma, the upper light inside the light of Hassaim and that is learned not by me learning like in physics. I learned how to be in a vessel of bestowal, because the light of Hochma clothes in the light of Hassadim therefore be concerned with that and you will succeed.

S. Can you tell me if that's correct or not? An example, Hebrew 10 whose spoke and we couldn’t hear well, he cared about the issue that before the upper degree of faith.

15. S. (48:41) Let's say that a friend has a problem that prevents him from coming to the lesson. How do we relate to that? Is it because we don't pray for him enough or is it because he's not doing enough work or arranging his life to overcome that? How do we relate to this?

R. I don't know. I am not in your place. I just know that New York is in a state that seems to me that is the best. 8 p.m. the lesson starts. At 11 p.m. it's over. Even before that. 10:30 ish. It's usually like all the people who are stuck to their TVs or all kinds of things at home caring for their kids and so on. Maybe it's time that really it doesn't have to do with sleep or with work. What do you mean you don't come to the lesson? Do you have to travel somewhere today? No. You're connected virtually so what is the problem that someone would not be? He doesn't want. There are more important things. What can you do? That's how it is in all of America. All of America.

S. How do we as a ten relate to that? If a friend doesn't come for some reason?

R. Rabash writes about this. It's all written you need to scrutinize and examine and check between you and with him and see what will be with you. He's either in the ten or if not in the ten but he needs to give an explanation he has to stand up to the scrutiny and you to for him. I don't really understand. We are now putting together let's say a car or some device and then we're missing a part, what do we do? Think, well I don't know what to do with you. With the Americans all together, in my eyes they are so spoiled, and now be that, you'll get a good lesson in the next four years.

16. S. (51:12) You said in the beginning that we should study together not in a personal individual way, to help the friends not to fail in the Covenant is that called Arvut?

R. Yes if you're helping the friend to constantly strengthen more and more in the connection, that's excellent. There's people like that, that are like that naturally from the side of nature they just truly want everyone to connect and everyone to assemble and to read and to learn and to do some kind of actions. There are such people that they love the society that way and the connection and doing together. There's people that completely, completely repulse such things naturally and for them connection is only I would have great overcoming but they benefit more from it, they are rewarded more from it, because they have to overcome. Those are kind of like, naturally friendly and like people in society and all that, it doesn't necessitate overcoming on their behalf since whoever has more exertion, benefits more. That's why we need to help each and everyone to give as much as possible exertion until we fulfill the measure necessary and our ship will advance towards the spiritual world.

17. S. (53:16) From what I understood, you emphasize two things: the friends in the lesson and who are following you have a desire and power and friends to come or don't come. We need to be the middle line between these two kinds of friends. Sometimes, the friends who have the desire, are attacking those who come less and that's something that is incorrect in my opinion. We need to be the middle line between…

R. No, no, there's a difference between people that are in the lesson permanently regularly and people that come whenever it's opportune to them. There's a difference. We need to differentiate between these and those. Those that come only sometimes should feel that it's expected of them to come each time, for them to be in every lesson. We love them, we want to be together with them, but it's not that we don't take into account the fact that they are not there. there's no such thing. We need to scrutinize every single thing. What's the result of that scrutiny? That's already a different thing, but this needs to be a critique that builds the group.

18. S. (55:18) About to sleep, that you talked about before, you told us that Rabash would tell you, wake me up in two minutes and he actually had a deep sleep, so the question is really if a person, how much do I really need sleep?

R. You can't say, I've seen these kinds or those kinds and these kinds, I would travel and wake up people and bring them to the lesson I saw how difficult it is for some people to wake up and how some wake up early easily, I can't say. It's very specific to a person. It is very specific, I for example, relatively, can sleep three or four hours and it's enough for me for a day but there are those for whom, eight or nine hours and no less otherwise they cannot exist.

S. Is it something that changes according to how much a person advances in spirituality?

R. Don't do your calculations this way and that way. The calculations about that are prohibited. It's like you're going into some kind of negotiations with a Creator to arrange for you this way or that way. You do what you're capable of but capable truly in a complete way and also take into account that habit becomes a second nature. Habit. Take a person who really loves to sleep, put him into limitations, like in the military let's say and other such places, as well so what. S. How reach Arvut in the German-speaking ten?

R. You don't have questions that can awaken connection also in accordance with what we're learning then there are no questions, without a deficiency for connection that comes on the background of the lesson to start asking. First of all I won't accept such a question from you.

S. Questions like you said that awaken connection and are on the topic of the lesson but they don't awaken a question that awakens naturally within you?

R. In a natural way meaning from your ego?

R. R. No, it doesn't matter where they're a ten is in Israel or America it all depends upon the exertion that it can give. R. We need more and more to wash our minds, in Hebrew, we call it brainwashing, but only in the connection between us we reveal the Creator, revelation of the Creator is our goal and in our connection it is revealed and then we have no other work but to reach connection. It is simple, just write it before you, number 1 reaches connection, number two the Creator is revealed.  Number two you can write it and put a line through it because you don't have to do that, the Creator reveals himself, you have to do one thing and that is the correct connection. Meaning correct the shattered vessel of Adam HaRishon and then everything works out. You see there is nothing else to do and from this moment onward when you know what you need to do, go back to your state and see what you are lacking in order to be connected with the other nine friends, 9 desires with more friends, 5 ,6 or 10, in order to reach and intensity of the connection, a manner of connection like the Creator to be in bestowal even to the smallest degree of mutual bestowal in your heart, that you really want to connect in your heart and to feel everybody that is in you for this you need to talk everyday, Maybe sit physically together, have a picnic, something study together to draw the light that reforms and specifically in the studies you think that the whole group, you thinking how the whole group should get the light that reforms and in this way you advance when all we don't have, and also humanity, we don't have any problem in our life but connection.

R. I won't add anything except what we have been talking about till now.

R. S. Who is doing the scrutiny here?

R. Only the Creator obviously we also in what we should do but in the end who decides and determines is all from above.

S. How do we compensate for this lack in our daily framework?

R. Do it all the time, what is the problem, think about it and write it before you, you can do it on your phone that each one has or the computer. I used to write it on my hands. I used to write what I want to remember all the times so while driving with Rabash I would look at my hands and then I would remember. R. R.
