Part 1:
Rabash. Article No. 11, 1989. What Are the Forces Required in the Work?

1. Rav’s Introduction: In the spiritual work there is a part that we need to do on our own and discover the strength and forces and connect them to each other in the right way and advance by that by joining the forces and increasing the forces and they essentially determine our level of progress toward the purpose of creation. These are the forces that we need to achieve the purpose of creation and how we need to work with them, let's see what Rabash writes to us.

2. S. (33:40) He says that a filling is not given without a deficiency, therefore a person must invest and labor and do whatever possible to come to the degree that all your actions will be for the sake of Heaven. The question is how do you really come to a true deficiency worthy of revelation? How do I get there?

R. By what kind of work? What kind of deficiency?

S. That is the question. What is this true deficiency that's missing?

R. Well what do you think? What does everyone think?

3. S. (34:45) He writes that you have to labor in order to reach a deficiency.

R. But what deficiency?

4. S. (35:00) We want to adhere to the Creator and it is through the friends. The deficiency needs to be in our connection between the friends, which is against our nature, and here we suffer blows left and right and we keep going.

5. S. (35:25) But he adds here another sentence that you have to work, and do, and labor, and do all the remedies possible. What remedies is this about?

R. Actions that can take us to the right deficiency and receiving the fulfillment.

S. So what are those actions?

R. Probably to be more connected.

S. Maybe we are connected, but how do you become more connected and more connected to achieve those remedies that he talks about?

R. Our connection needs to be as such that we will discover in it the force that can fulfill the connection between us.

S. Then all the actions will be for the sake of heaven?

R. Yes.

S. What does it mean?

R. That we're doing everything in order to reach a state where the Creator can fulfill our desire and come between us we; make room for Him.

S. Where is our participation? Where is our work to reach this deficiency? How should we behave? What should we do?

R. Our work is to try and reach a connection that will be compatible with the nature of the Creator. Then, according to this compatibility, the Creator can enter the connection between us and fulfill it.

S. What's more important in the system? Overcoming or the connection with the friends? And, how do we reach this flow you're talking about?

R. I need to nullify before the friends desire, and strengthen that desire, and pray together with the friends for the Creator to correct us if we are not yet worthy of His fulfillment, and that we will reach a state where He can enter and fill all our desires.

S. If I do these actions we receive these remedies that can help what he talks about here?

R. Yes.

6. S. (38:10) You asked what is the deficiency and my understanding is that the deficiency is to nullify before the Creator.

R. Yes, the main deficiency is to nullify before the Creator, which then leads me to nullify before the friends, and connection with them, and so forth.

7. S. (38:33) He writes that talents or power won’t help the person. Only desire is needed. What is that desire?

R. The desire to be connected with the friends, so as to build a place, establish a place, for the revelation of the Creator.

S. He writes in the article that only the Creator can put him out of the control of the vessel of reception of the person, and then he repeats it in a few places that only the Creator can give you vessels of bestowal.

R. Yes.

S. What does this work of the desire to connect to the friends give us?

R. It leads us to the true deficiency. That in connection between us, correct connection, we establish the place where the Creator can be revealed, and receive contentment from us.

S. Our work for connection causes the Creator to do these actions upon us? To take us out of the vessels of reception to give us vessels of bestowal?

R. Yes, yes, bit by bit, gradually, we get closer to a state of connection or the other way around. And, we understand where we are, and what to demand from Whom, and that's how we advance.

S. What is it that is arranging our connections so that we're making room for the Creator to be revealed in it? I heard you saying that we're working on the connection in order to arrange a place for the Creator to be revealed in it.

R. Yes.

S. What do we want to do, to arrange a place for Him to be revealed? To replace our nature or move us from vessels of reception to vessels of bestowal?

R. No, first of all we think about how to bring contentment to Him, and then as a result we see that in order to bring Him contentment we have to make a place for Him. And, that place is the correct connection between us, and then we ask the Creator to help us put together the right connection between us.

S. Our work of connection to bring Him contentment has no connection to the fact that the Creator will replace our vessels now? It's different work?

R. Why? There is a connection. We need to be connected between us so as to make room for Him to clothe within us.

S. When does He change our vessels?

R. That He knows. We have to ask. We have to ask. Perhaps it'll happen, or it won't happen. Today or in a thousand years, I don't know. I just have to yearn for it, and also my yearning that I make room for Him to be revealed and rejoice in us, that's my work.

S. The yearning needs to be in the direction of making room for Him to delight in us? Or, to yearn for a place where He will replace our vessels?

R. No, to change our vessels He knows how to do it and what to do. I don't know, that's His action. All I know is that I need to be drawn to in order to make Him happy about me.

8. S. (42:50) The article is built in a matter that there's a person who works, and there's a third party that looks from the side and says, “I believe or I don't believe,” and, also the third party he doesn't see everything. In the maximum he can see the labor of the friend, not what he found. Here, there's two questions. Who is this third party and what is his role?

R. I don't know where you're going in this direction. How does it help you? The first side, the second, the third, what's the issue? What are you looking for?

S. I am looking because he's constantly saying, “I believe” or “I don't believe.” What's this for, these things? Why do I need to believe or not believe?

R. To have faith or not are in the words of the sages and what I try to do. I try to do what they tell me. That's it.

9. S. (44:32) The part of, “I have not labored and I have found, don’t believe.” That is somehow clear. When you are working you feel like the change does not come from you or rather the change comes from a different force. So it's not clear. When can you say, “I've labored and did not find, believe.” What is this said about? It's not clear.

R. “I have labored and found, believe,” means when you labor and the Creator changes you.

S. But a minute ago we said that we made an effort but it's not an effort that's on..?

R. Not in the account of the person? Okay, so?

S. Exactly. So what is that change for it if I have labored?

R. I labor and it's clear to me that I don't come to anything with my own strength. What do I do? When I do the actions I should with the Creator, and the labor, and the group, and everything I could get to a point where I can see only the Creator can do it, and then I cry, and it opens up. That's it. The gate of tears as we have learned. They open.

S. If I understood correctly what you described now, he calls right now in the article that, “I did not labor.” When a person understands that all his efforts in the end it is the Creator that makes the change he says, “I have not labored.” So I'm asking when is it, “I have labored?” What is, “I have labored?”

R. In any case I have to labor and try to connect all the friends together and to find between them a connection through my labor, meaning that I'll feel that I'm making the efforts that's in my strength. That's it. What happens afterwards, That's already beyond me. This is already called “finding.” I have labored and I have found. That's not in my hands.

10. S. (47:55) How exactly to connect my friends and my desire? In my desire or in some form on the outside or something?

R. We join the friends to each other only according to our desire. Only according to our desire.

11. S. (48:30) It's clear that if I have labored I have found, but finding without laboring, that's not clear, that's why there are these scrutinies. What is it actually, this finding? Why does a person not feel that it's a result of his efforts?

R. Man does not feel that the result of his effort is a finding because it's something completely different. He labored in order to find the revelation of the Creator and ultimately he has to reach a state where he works on connection between the friends.

S. Meaning, in advance he could never expect this finding? It's always in a different place?

R. Yes.

12. S. (49:42) In the article he writes that and the finding is to find the vessels of bestowal which the Creator gives. Maybe our constant confusion that we need to remind one another is that we're not looking for the filling but rather we're looking for the deficiency. All our labor is to find additional deficiency.

R. Yes.

S. It's not a question. It just felt like that's what we need to constantly strengthen, the matter that we, what we're finding is the revelation of a new deficiency.

R. Correct.

S. I want to scrutinize in general about the article. He says that these are great forces and there's a part where he calls them Hasmoneans, the Greeks, and there's another part in the article that's kind of like using the same forces but he calls them the nations of the world and Israel. Are they the same forces or are these usage of, are these forces that develop in the Hasmonean, those that I want to do for the benefit of the Creator and against the nature of themselves are they those Israel that want to do not for their self-benefit?

R. Yes.

S. Why does he call them by two names, why is it?

R. Greek and Hasmoneans?

S. No, I mean like the Hasmoneans are Israel, and the Greeks are the nations of the world, so what is it, here he calls them this way and there he calls him that way? Is there a reason? It's not clear.

R. No, not worthwhile to get into these details.

13. S. (51:39) A person needs to make efforts on his behalf to eventually discover that he can't, that he needs the Creator, yes?

R. Yes.

S. Why does it appear to a person that there's not even making the efforts to, have been studying for fifteen years, who knows how long, he can't even start making the efforts that are right to bring him to that state.

R. First of all the entire fifteen years of being here he was doing work, he did work that without it nothing can be done you can't just jump, skip, because that’s how nature works that we can't skip immediately and become adults or wise and so until it settles in the person and these are great corrections. Even though these corrections happen within us without so much preparation of our own but in terms of nature, that's how we should go through them, we have to be put through them and so we think that it's years that we just went through for no reason but it’s incorrect. By the corporeal actions these nonsensical actions, like childish actions, we nevertheless, go through spiritual corrections.

S. Okay, and is it an illusion that a person seems to him like he's not even managing to do the right efforts?

R. That's not an illusion it's true but what he's doing in the meantime, his participation, these are the degrees of still, vegetative and animate that he has to go through in order to reach the speaking degree, and there he corrects himself already knowingly, consciously and in participation.

14. S. (54:14) We are sitting in the lesson right now, what labor can we give here, now?

R. The labor in connection between us in order to do what the Creator wants from us and I am deliberately speaking in a kind of general way that each one can understand.

S. There’s a precise discernment, right, an action or a thought?

R. What are you looking for?

S. I want to know what I should do?

R. Connect with the friends to the point that you will feel no difference between you and them.

15. S. (55:14) He writes in the article that there's a feeling that each time he overcomes and won't fall again and then he falls to evil. Those states each time that you kind of overcome and feel confidence and then fall again – boom – to a place of lowliness, what's the purpose of these states?

R. That you will begin to receive a new portion of corruption that you need to correct.

S. In the passage you don't always, sometimes you're like angry and you don’t even turn to the Creator and ask, time passes.

R. So there's time, what can you do? Time depends on you how much you are in connection with the evil and justifying the evil.

S. What's your advice to do in that state when you're in that state of feeling that lowliness, how to operate at that point?

R. Open the book and read.

16. S. (56:35) Earlier we talked about the desire that needs to be and he gives a wonderful example about that adult, this older person, who takes a small child who stole and the little child obviously he doesn't have to cry out for help to be helped with the child, and really I have many times the feeling, how do you even come to a cry if you don't have a big deficiency? We sit for a very long time in the preparation and are trying to come to the prayer, to build a prayer before the lesson, but then suddenly when we read the article I felt like why the prayer is something that is so far for me, maybe we need to work first on the deficiency, on what the deficiency is before the lesson in order to come to that prayer.

R. Yes.

S. How do you evoke, awaken a deficiency, an outcry before the prayer, that's really my question. How do friends sit and evoke a state that they will feel they have to scream, that it will lead them to prayer?

R. What do you recommend?

S. What am I suggesting? I'm depicting to myself a state that we have to come to despair, helplessness, that's what's clear to me.

R. What are you recommending?

S. Maybe for friends to share their helplessness, their despair, and share it, after all I'm certain that the whole ten comes at one point or another to points from here onward they have no idea how to continue. It's a certain state of despair, so talk about it. In truth I feel that we reach helplessness only out of action, out of doing, out of truly going no matter what you feel, but doing acting, a lot of performing of deeds will bring you to the despair and not to wait until, oh, I have despair. So my suggestion is a lot of doing,

R. You're right and I think most who are here agree with you but still how do we come to a state where we'll have such an inner feeling?

S. I'm asking if we sit and scrutinize this, will it lead us or will we actually recreate actions that are concrete that will lead us there?

R. What actions?

S. There are there's no lack of actions in the society to initiate actions, so how are we come to this outcry?

R. Let's ask everyone how do we come to a cry to whom?

S. First of all to the point that we have no power on our own. First of all, to that point.

R. Yes, more?

S. And then maybe the next step, the next stage, is to come to what we truly want to cry out for, what we want to cry out for, and from there we will start to work on the prayer.

R. Anything else to say on this?

17. S. (01:01:33) You said yesterday that intention is the action, so maybe the action that we want to do, you once gave us an exercise I remember in our ten, and it was really awakening to a deficiency, which was to think of every friend and how much I love him, and to reveal within it the oppositeness or not, and it really creates this inner prayer. And if the intention is the deed then that is really coming closer to the greatest action possible. It was a great exercise.

R. Well that's what you think, maybe others think differently?

18. S. (01:02:22) The truth is that since I was a child to today, it's all a matter of relationships. When you build a certain attitude towards the other, to your wife, to your friends, here all the effect of the relationships between one another is revealed. And this creates the mess, that I have my will to receive, he has his, and now we have this lack of suitability of adaptation between the friends. This attitude builds a place that you can come to in order to see how you can correct the system. This is where it begins. It's like Rabbi Shimon, when they enter the cave, says “what do you think, you came into the cave and it's done with?” We need to reach a state, a system, with a knife between our teeth. And that's what this relationship can build. It's not us. It's probably the Creator who brings this knife between our teeth. This is where the work starts, this outcry, and all these things. That's called our relationship.

R. So what to do? Wait a minute.

S. Am I going to say something about myself?

R. So why did you start?

S. Okay, so I'll tell you. This it's not nice to say, but it's with my wife, and relations here as well, because if I say something, really something for my heart that I want to help, she will always say, “You always talk from your ego.” I say, “Me, from my ego? I'm cooking.” I am not joking. I go and do shopping and I cook and everything, and then I get some blow that I'm not ready for. And, really I do it with all my heart, but she sees from her side that I'm doing it as against what she wants. Now in every relationship - each is with his ego. He comes and says to you, “This is how I think,” and things like that. Each thinks in his direction. And here is where I think – that each relationship needs to come to a certain system of relations, between friends, between the man and his spouse, etc.. It's a force of overcoming. Simply to nullify before the other side. How do you say, “a knife between your teeth?” Even though you have a knife and you feel like, I don't know, I feel like killing him, but no, now your system, we pray to the Creator to give you the force to overcome this, not for the knife between the teeth.

R. Very well, okay. So anyone else?

19. S. (01:05:30) I want to ask about the matter of labor: could it be that a person puts forth great labor and does not reach the result he expects?

R. Of course, this could be.

S. When he says, “you labored and didn't find, don't believe.” If you feel that you put forth great labor and didn't find, then don't believe, meaning it's not right what you're thinking.

R. Don't believe what? That you made a lot of effort? Or that you didn't receive compensation?.

S. That's the question: there's either a blemish in the labor or in the result that you wanted to receive.

R. Or, in your attitude.

S. So what do we do here?

R. This needs to be solved.

S. Let's say it simply – if he labored greatly and he put forth great effort..?

R. Maybe this effort is not in terms of the quantity or the quality or the other way around. Maybe there is a lot of quantity but not a lot of quality.

S. So what indication does he have that will awaken him to the right quality?

R. I don't understand. I don't know, just understand that there are different aspects here. Maybe you're taking a mountain of sand and moving it with a bucket from place to place. So you have made a lot of effort throughout the day, you've moved half the mountain to a different place and you think you've done a lot, but in truth we don't know, we don't feel when we are making sufficient effort and when we are not, whether the work is correct, the work itself, and that's the question.

S. So by what should we measure what a person's doing? Meaning if this labor is not right it's not right to put so much effort to move the sand from here to there?

R. That too, you don't know.

S. Maybe it is right you are saying?

R. Maybe. Meaning, first of all, we have to organize such a relationship that it will be clear to all of us in what direction we need to make an effort, to labor, and what state we need to reach. After that we will see whether we're doing what's needed or not.

20. S. (01:08:38) At the end of the article he says that the Creator looks at those people who are waiting and who hope for his Hesed, who wait to see the quality of Hesed. How can we see if we are the people who are looking for the vessels of bestowal?

R. More or less, we can say what we think are vessels of bestowal, and we will ask.

S. Can you describe what those vessels of bestowal are?

R. The vessel of bestowal, meaning I can give the other what he needs and I cannot have any other response to that. I don't get any reward for that. And this is the question: do I do it because I love Him like a mother loves her baby and so forth? Meaning how do I clean myself from all kinds of payments, let's say, levels of payment.

S. So the labor of a person needs to be laboring in is to arrange this deficiency to have this desire before the friends?

R. I want to become incorporated between the friends and become something that doesn't demand anything towards itself, rather that I'm just doing the action of connection there.

21. S. (01:10:25) It's written in the text that the Creator gave the heroes in the mighty and of the weak. How did the weak ones sustain the strong ones? After all this work is a general collective work. Eventually the strong ones will come out of their control, or not. Meaning is this given to us in order to practice, in order to strengthen?

R. You have to understand that connection can be by force or by the inclination of the heart. Either you work with your legs or you work with your emotion. And it depends on how we work. It depends on how we work. I can work with my hands and then I am connecting and doing all kinds of things, building and destroying what I built, and building again and so forth. And it's endless. It's possible that my work is actually in trying to change my inner qualities and connecting them according to equivalence of form, that's a different kind of work. Meaning the work is either physical or let's say emotional. That's it, that's what all the difference between us is about. Kabbalah teaches us how to join our inner efforts, what's in our hearts. How we join heart to heart and then in one great big heart we can be connected to the Creator. Whereas, our external work is that we are not talking about the heart but only external efforts with our pens and and then on the one hand we can check what we've done, on the other hand, we don't get any good outcome from it because it's not considered the correct change in nature.

S. We come to a state where this force is between us so powerfully that – I'm trying to understand – is it a force that comes from above and helps us keep these mighty ones or do we come to a state that we can between us with the help of this force keep them and also advance, meaning how does this process become realized between us?

R. Until we decide in a clear and absolute way that the whole work is done by the upper force and all we need is to convince it, to push it, to draw it, to ask from it, to beg for it, to do the work. Until we come to that we will not succeed in any of our actions because whatever we do, almost instantaneously, we are ruining it. Because the whole plan of creation is to convince us, to show us, that all that man does is worth nothing. This is why as soon as we understand that our whole work is only turning and in praying for the Creator and asking Him, convincing, pushing Him to help us, then only we will succeed.

S. How does it come to us the understanding of what you just described between the friends?

R. Through disappointments, through continuous actions. When we see that we are unsuccessful in this way and that way and ultimately what the intellect doesn't do, time will. Meaning we will start to understand that there is a different system here working differently than our intellect in our mind then we start integrating ourselves and turn to understand the true system. We stopped working according to our corporeal, natural mind as we were used to when we were in the animate level and now that we want to reach the speaking level, meaning the degree of the Creator, then we already, we already start to see the system and the way it works according to the laws of bestowal. We will learn this.

22. S. (01:17:45) The title of the article is, ‘What are the Forces Needed in the Work,’ and now we are talking about how a person discovers that he is powerless, as if he doesn't need these powers?

R. He needs the powers of the Creator to clothe on him.

S. So only in the power of prayer and turning to the Creator, that's the only power or force he needs?

R. Yes, yes, that's why adhesion is our goal because through adhesion we acquire the qualities of the Creator, His intellect and we adhere to Him and through Him we perform the action.

23. S. (01:18:26) It seems like the more we fight against the will to receive the stronger it becomes and we lose the fight. When and how can we come to a point, that we cry out for help?

R. Here we truly have a very important point of a split of paths. If we continue to associate our future, as much as we are successful on the will to receive, we will never succeed because it's an angel, the will to receive is an angel and the hand of the Creator. But the more we grasp ourselves, we perceive ourselves and through the society we simply let go, we let go, that we have nothing to do with it but rather, what we want us to connect through the force of bestowal between us and through that we try to reach correction. And then the Creator as the force of bestowal, as the Creator through that, He will correct everything.

24. S. (01:19:49) Do we give joy to the Creator through the aspiration and search without looking for a result? Is this the key to bestowing contentment upon the Creator?

R. Yes but our result should be as His result. When we want to build a vessel of bestowal so that he could remain in it and remain in it and enjoy us.

25. S. (01:20:42) On what does the measure of faith in a person depend?

R. The measure of faith in a person depends on how much he is connected through his friends to the Creator.

26. S. (01:21:05) It seems like we can describe the situation with the sentence, “my son's defeated Me,” in the sense that I gave them the will to receive and they insist on not receiving but on giving?

R. Yes, nice. That's it, no more questions.

27. S. (01:21:45) Why after every thief, a bigger thief comes along?

R. Because that's an ascent in a degree.

S. Is the quality of the labor determined like a good professional person who knows exactly where to place the hit, the blow?

R. Yes.

28. S. (01:22:30) You talked about having to dissolve in the friends and out of that state help in the connection and then you discovered the Greeks there inside, interfering with you, repelling you. And sometimes when you make an effort you succeed in defeating yourself but in the article it says that you have to solidify, accumulate a deficiency and he has to make the correction. So what's the correct thing to do in this situation?

R. I can't understand you. I hear this and that. I hear Hebrew, I hear Russian. It's confusing me, please repeat.

S. [No translation]

R. The most beneficial is to adhere to the friends because that’s before you and they are ready for it, and we're ready for it, only to activate the force of connection that may be between you; this is one-hundred percent surely better than anything else.

S. But the Greeks are the ones that don't let you adhere to the friends?

R. So you have to work on that.

S. [No Translation]

R. So there's a prayer both of yours and of the friends and to the Creator, so all of you, all the friends and the Creator want the same state of connection. Well; pray, ask, want.

29. S. (01:24:55) What kind of demand should I raise to the Creator so that He will help all of us?

R. A demand for the Creator to help all of us. This is the kind of demand that is very simple.

30. S. (01:25:22) We are in our nature and automatically we do what we do out of egoistic nature. To reveal this place, should we make an effort in order to cancel our actions?

R. No, we don't need that.

S. Is this what you said when you said there's no point in fighting against this angel?

R. Yes.

31. S. (01:26:04) Concerning the condition that the Creator has to change our vessel. Does the Creator give us a chance, a need and then He changes our vessel or does the change of the vessel happen in some way that's not dependent on the person?

R. No, a person should yearn to change the vessel. Each and every person in the ten has to yearn as much as he can to change the vessel, to see the vessel more united, clear?

32. S. (01:27:00) First, thank you for the article and for the great clarity it gives you when you understand what labor is as opposed to work. Number two, in recent weeks people have been asking a lot about labor and also finding anew. Sometimes you say that it depends on the root of the soul. Now we are learning that we all have to make the labor regardless of the root of the soul, so what's the relationship between these two terms?

R. We don't need to pick into or to search for the root of the soul; this is how the Creator organized us, He brought us to the group. What we need to do upon this data that we have, is that we already have the roots of the soul that are matching each other even though we don't know how or why, all we need to work on is the connection. The fact that we're adapting to be in one connection, we are certain about that already because that action the Creator did.

33. S. (01:28:22) A difficult question, for a long time I have had it. The Creator made us in His image and all our work is directed to convince creation that it is worthless in itself. So what does the Creator want to prove to us, to Himself, through the helplessness He is revealing?

R. That all of us can be connected together and resemble Him.

34. S. (01:29:10) Are the forces we need for the work received only through devotion?

R. The forces we need for the work are received through devotion, yes.

S. Should I explain myself or is there no need?

R. We need to continue.

35. S. (01:29:47) Everyday, two times a day we raise a prayer and we want to raise a strong deficiency to the Creator so He will help us, so He will answer us. When we raise a prayer each one says what he feels and we end up with a paragraph. I thought maybe, if it's unnatural, maybe we shouldn’t pick so many deficiencies, but we could pick one deficiency, so we can know if the Creator answered us. So we will have a bigger, stronger deficiency, so we will see if he answered us or not. Otherwise, we have many deficiency, it is not concentrated so we can't see what the Creator did.

R. I don't understand what you asked. Can you repeat it?

S. When we build a prayer we do it three times a day and each one says a sentence, so we come up with a long paragraph, so it's less focused. In order to feel the reaction from the Creator, if He answered us or not. The advancement towards the Creator, if we decided on one deficiency that we pray for this. This way we'll be able to see if there's an answer to the prayer. Is this correct to do this? Maybe this is artificially because naturally we get one prayer?

R. This is certainly worthwhile, you should do this even if it's artificially.

36. S. (01:32:06) We know that the Creator dresses in the person's heart through the connection between us. We pray to the Creator that each one will receive this. Is this the real deficiency?

R. Yes, yes.

37. S. (01:32:39) Seeing the evil within me is a gift from above. How can we merit, grasp in this evil before it comes out?

R. You need to be rewarded with this. I don't know, you're in for connection, all the time to come closer to the Creator, but what you will see is your opposite qualities.

38. S. (01:33:10) I just heard you say that the vessel of bestowal means I can give to the other what he needs and I have no reward for it. You added, here comes the question: is it because I love like a mother towards a baby? So the question is: How do I clean myself up from all the rewards? This is what you said before, so my question is: is our goal not to love the friend and as a result to give him, or should we have a different goal? How does it really work without a reward?

R. How do you imagine yourself? I'm asking everyone, how can we imagine to ourselves that we are doing some action without any reward? There is no such thing. Meaning I have to, it's like a mathematical formula. I have to have some results established for myself and this result has to be clear to me and I demand it, so what do I do when they say that I demand no reward, because an action with no reward, it’s foolish, it doesn’t exist in nature at all. For all the molecules, for everything to start working and to establish in me some thoughts and plans, there has to be a clear goal before me, etc.. What does it mean that I am not intending to receive any reward? It’s as if it's an endless road that suddenly, well, so what should we do?

S. If we make efforts to love the friends, let’s say like our children, which I thought was the direction I need to go in. Then we did it out of love where the reward is, when you see the reaction in the friends, or in the Creator, or in something, it is outside of me. Is this not the right direction?

R. If you will love your friends as you love their children then certainly this is correct, but will it be in order to bestow? Well that question remains there.

39. S. (01:36:38) Concerning building the prayer, we come across the same scrutiny for a long time now and I think it's very essential for us, basically the question is: is it enough for each one to say their sentence and to connect all the sentences together or do we come to one sentence that we focus on all day out of agreement at this is our common deficiency of the ten in that moment in that meeting? Does it give a different force to our prayer? Then there is a whole paragraph it says the sentences are not always connected to each other. It does not have the force that we can focus on during the day. We want to know your opinion and also say that we are happy to be incorporated with the same deficiency as the other tens.

R. [No answer]

40. S. (01:38:00) Do we learn to distinguish complaints towards the Creator or towards the friends from a sincere request when we establish in advance the greatness of the Giver? How not to confuse complaints with requests?

R. That depends on the emotion between the people, that's why I can't answer in a precise way.

S. I mean toward the Creator.

R. If between us there is a connection of love, it doesn't matter what way I'm asking and what way I'm answering or hearing or seeing an answer from a friend. The main thing is that between us our relations determine to what extent we are impressed and in what way we are impressed with each other. That's why the main thing is as it is written, 'love covers all crimes', if you have it, it will cover everything.

41. S. (01:39:34) It is written in the article that we don't succeed and then make an effort in the work but still we want to be worthy of the Creator, so the question is: is the right connection with the friends, does it come only when we release a desire for her to be us that we will merit for ourselves?

R. Can you help me with this question? No?

M. She says there can be a state of labor but without succeeding, so she's asking if success happens only when you give up what is happening for you and you want to have the right connection as the results of this there will be the success?

R. Okay, I don't get it. Maybe we should move to the last part of the lesson.
