Connecting to One Ten

M. Laitman: (00:58) The Creator created the will to receive as existence out of absence. He arranged for him various conditions so that this will to receive will become a created being. That created being means that he is opposite the Creator, on the one hand; on the other hand, it should be a complete creature. Meaning he'll be able to attain the wholeness of the Creator and be in that wholeness, otherwise, the Creator cannot do it out of His wholeness. What He does is a whole thing, a complete thing, and although this wholeness becomes evident to us over time. Across continuous actions, we can see from one end to the other what is the end point, what is the end result. We need to believe the Kabbalists that tell us that this is how everything is organized. In that same will to receive the Creator created from the very beginning, He created it as a result of the goal He had in mind – to bring it to identify with that quality which He is, Himself.

Therefore, in the will to receive, the created being, inside of it, there is a yearning, an inclination, a disposition to reach the revelation of the Creator, the degree of the Creator. The perception of connection with the Creator, various degrees, various levels of that in each and every created being. Because the will to receive that was created is undergoing a shattering and all the desires begin to feel a force opposite that of the Creator – the will to receive. In this way, we need to discover them, reveal them, and see that our true state is to return to the state we've been in before the shattering as we truly are in our root. Not only this upper force exists and we exist in it, we don't come out of it because nothing exists outside of it. What appears to us that we are outside of Him, opposite to Him, He doesn't exist when we exist in some strange way which we can't define—all of that seems to us, for the time being, so that we will discover by ourselves a desire, the necessity, the need to return and unify in the Creator, adhere to the Creator. A desire the Creator created that seemingly exists outside of Him—that desire is called, a soul. When, in truth, other than the Creator, in the will to receive, He created that soul, nothing exists. We, as part of that soul, feel ourselves as existing, separately, where I don't care about what's happening with others, I can be interested in them only to the extent that I feel I depend on them. And if I don't feel I depend on them, there can never be a desire in me that awakens towards a thought about them. They don't exist, and to such an extent that they don't exist, that we can't feel, we can't remember. We can't take into consideration all the others, because if I don't feel dependence on them in my desire, then they don't exist. The only thing that exists is that which is felt, revealed in the desire; and we have to correct this desire to return to the complete vessel, to incorporate with everyone and to feel the Creator, completely. That is our work, and that's why this wisdom, this method is called, the wisdom of Kabbalah, of reception, how to receive, reveal the complete reality, the true reality, connect all of its parts together And accordingly, on all these parts that were separate, shattered, distant from one another. When they connect according to our efforts, accordingly we reveal in them light, a force that fills them. Seemingly, the Creator, who created the will to receive, together with the will to receive He seemingly, shattered in our perception to such a degree that He is, seemingly, not present. And we feel Him only as the force that sustains me, gives me life, and to the extent we try to bring these parts together, accordingly, we can discover the Creator in a way that's more real, more determined, more existing.

In various modes, the desire the Creator created and filled with His light, His power is called the soul of Adam HaRishon or Adam HaRishon or Adam. Adam, because he resembles, Domeh. He resembles the Creator and later he goes through various states, this desire divides, it breaks; pieces are moving apart, separating, undergoing inner changes. These parts are called, the souls of man, and we'll talk about it along the way.

Reader: Connecting into One Ten

M. Laitman: (09:22) Meaning, we need to understand that the purpose of creation is from that soul the Creator created called, Adam or Adam HaRishon, that was shattered into pieces and we are those pieces. We have to try and reassemble ourselves again into the system of one man. This is the meaning of being completely interdependent and to connect to such a degree that according to our desire, our vessel, our qualities, we will resemble the Creator fully. And then, accordingly, according to how much we try and succeed in connecting, then we will feel inside of us that the Creator is entering and is dwelling in us. We feel in it adhesion, adhesion of the force of bestowal – the Creator inside our force of reception, the created beings.

Excerpt Number One, Rabash writes,

Reading: (10:38) 1. RABASH, Article 10 (1984), "What Is the Degree One Should Achieve in Order Not to Have to Reincarnate" - Twice

We have to know that all of the souls extend from the soul of Adam HaRishon, for after he sinned in the sin of the Tree of Knowledge, his soul divided into 600,000 souls. This means that the one light that Adam HaRishon had, which the Holy Zohar called Zihara Ila’a [upper brightness], which he had in the Garden of Eden at once, spreads into numerous pieces.

Question (Turkey 2): (11:58) How should we feel that deficiency by integrating our desires into one piece?

M. Laitman: We connect in this way; also, in technology and computers, we understand that if we connect more and more cells, memory cells, we can—memory containers—we can create more complex software. If we bring strangers together, different people, we can connect them. We'll be able to see things more clearly. Connection brings us to a higher degree of feeling and scrutiny, that's how we connect – now, that's in our world. In the spiritual world, meaning spirituality, the thing is that we have to connect in our desires; we can't make our desires into one desire because the shattering took place and it remains. Even if we correct it, we only correct it, meaning all those fault lines, all those breaking points that happened. Each and every part that broke in the soul of Adam and Eve, when this entire system shattered, one desire shattered into many strange desires, distant desires. They remain far, distant, strange, they remain like that, and we connect them together above that, this is our work. Meaning we cannot return to exactly, to that system of Adam as it was before the shattering; rather, the way it was, seemingly, before the shattering. We correct the shattering completely and all the broken parts that were distant and hatred, we, they remain broken this way and we assemble connections above them, this is called, Love covers all transgressions and from that we get a vessel with a greater power, intensity, compared to what was before the shattering. Because we take into consideration all those shatters, shatterings, and also the corrections above them.

That's why the difference, opposition that was revealed during the shattering, we take that as a heightened will to receive and, nevertheless, above it, above the differences between its parts – hate, repulsion, rejection – we form connections. Then, in this corrected will to receive we can feel the Creator in full, the upper force the way it is. Upper light in the form of NRNHY meaning all, on all of its manifestations. Now, what do we gain from this process where we had one soul that shattered, the light departed from it. And we come back to a connection between all those parts, whereby the shattering remains and we assemble the connections above the shattering. Take all that coarseness, that hate, the ego that was revealed during the shattering and we make corrections above it. Meaning our will to receive remains great during the shattering, we don't erase it. We don't want to make anything out of it—only cover it with our connection. It turns out that the intensity of the connection that we get after the corrections, this intensity, this level of connection is, as is written, Pi Tarach, 620 times greater, it's a number of sorts. That we attain such a number of connections and then in the number of broken parts and the connections between them, we come to a state where we can locate in all the broken parts that were reassembled, that were corrected again. We can now depict, portray the Creator, we can feel Him in full inside of our desire; we come to a certain ability inside the broken desire that was reassembled from these two opposite states, we can come to know the upper force – from the thing and its opposite.

Question (Kyiv 1): (18:12) In our connection in the Ten, we talk about discovering the soul of Adam HaRishon in the connection. What's the difference between the connection between us and that of Adam HaRishon?

M. Laitman: Adam HaRishon as a vessel before the shattering—just simply one desire, homogeneous that did not divide into parts, that's it. We, our great desires that grew when the light entered into the desire, shattered it into many parts, appeared in it in such a way. That's why these parts are opposites, are broken, we attain Him in this way.

Student: How to describe, the state to which we should gear? Let's say we connect between us, but it's still insufficient – this connection – in order to truly resemble the system.

M. Laitman: We need to try and assemble ourselves in such a way that there will be no difference between all of us. We will all feel that we are parts of one system and each one is working for the sake of the entire system. In this way, we attain the Creator but He is working throughout the entire system, thanks to our efforts. As we try to maintain the system as one system, we reveal Him in greater intensity. Creator, Boreh, means, Boreh, Come and See: Come and see, reveal what you've come to. Meaning the Creator is not something that's outside of us. It's something we attain from the upper light, from the presence of the upper light inside the vessel. That's why we make it, as it's written, you have made Me. That's what we discover, specifically through the shattering, oppositions that exist in us. We discover more and more conditions where we connect them in various ways. We attain many discernments where, in total, we used to understand and feel the Creator.

Student: (21:39) The vessel of Adam HaRishon—that was a uniform desire – what was this desire, and what was it aimed for so that we can resemble it in our work?

M. Laitman: Adam HaRishon before the shattering is an extremely small will to receive, it's like a newborn baby. It doesn't think about anything except that it exists; and there’s a force of life flowing through it, this is Adam HaRishon before the shattering. In this state, where the Creator would fill it and there was no difference between this desire and the Creator because it was completely under the rule, the authority of the Creator. This state was called, Gan Eden, Garden of Eden, I don't know what to call it. It's like a baby in its mother's hands, in her arms, and he receives anything he needs from her. This is called Garden of Eden, Paradise. What more does he need? So this was the state we were in—at the beginning of creation. And then, through these special actions that we will learn about, we suddenly feel a great egoistic desire to receive was awakened. This desire begins to give us a feeling that we're different. That we're all made up of many parts, that the force that fills us, accordingly, is not one force but many foreign parts. Adam HaRishon feels, through the increase of the will to receive in him, he feels that he's included, made of many parts, this is called, shattering. All of this had to happen in order to give Adam HaRishon that more complex system, more refined so it would be able to, through the opposition between its parts. And the connection between its parts—as much as they can be in opposition and in connection, all these parts, they will be able to reveal the upper force.

Student: (25:00) In the beginning of the lesson, you said that we must connect in desires. And then in relation to Adam HaRishon, you said that Adam HaRishon had uniformity of desire. What is such a uniform desire? If each of us has a slightly different desire after the shattering, how can we come to uniformity?

M. Laitman: We don't know what you call this, uniformity; it's, simply, there were desires that were not so developed and highly developed and they were simply not in opposition to one another, that was one desire. And then to the extent that this will to receive grows and it grows as the light shines on it, it begins to feel that this is made up of different parts and these parts are foreign to one another. Each part of the desire has its own desire, very different than the others. And they begin to feel, between them, greater discernment, distance, and so on. You understand what's happening between a primitive group of people, simple, who exist as one body, there aren't that many differences between them; if you take these people, you begin to grow them, to educate them, to fill them with various ideas and discernments. And they begin to be very different than one another. It all depends on the level and the quality of the desire, each and every one, that's what's happening in these parts. The upper light that influences the simple will to receive, it gradually grows in these desires, each and every one, in a different way, according to the root that exists in each desire. How did we get so many parts on the face of the planet: still, vegetative, animate, humans, in each one? You know how many kinds in each and every one? Millions. How many types of minerals do you have and all the forms of all levels in the animal kingdom, what does it come from? It comes from the light working on the desire because there are changes in the desire and that upper light – even though He is only one – He works on these desires in different ways, in each and every one. That's how we understood our nature to have developed, even here on the face of the planet Earth. But before that, it wasn't the case, everything was much simpler, primitive, even made of parts that are very similar to each other.

Student: Ultimately, like you said, that we have to, again, resemble this one common system of Adam, this system be similar in its simplicity to the initial system of Adam or on a different level?

M. Laitman: The system of Adam we come to is unlike that first system; the first system was simple. It was uniform, it did not have many desires, many discernments in it. It was like a cell, like a primitive cell, or like a tiny baby who has no discernments about himself. What will happen with us is that we acquire many discernments in those opposite desires by hating one another, rejecting, repelling, we begin to feel how distant we are from one another. And together with that, we will reveal the connection between us. The greatest opposition and, accordingly, the greatest connection is what we will reveal. This is truly the difference between the first state where there was no disconnection, no opposition, and no connection. And, for us, there is opposition and connection, so in those states, between all the states that are showing us opposition and all the states that show us connection. Between these two, we reveal the Creator from whom both of these forces come, the force of disconnection and the force of connection. That's why we call it, Boreh, Creator, Boreh, Come and See – He forms light and He creates darkness.

Question (ITA 4): (31:15) Why the Creator created from the shattering of Adam HaRishon, this method that leaves the opportunity only for a few to succeed and all the rest remain their entire life without finding this answer? That’s not clear.

M. Laitman: I'll answer you, although this doesn't belong to the order of our explanation, right now. We are developing, the desires are developing and in this development, we have such parts like in general nature that are still, vegetative, animate and speaking. And those parts don't all develop in the same way, you also see it in people – there are people who are more developed and there are those who are less, who develop less. There are those who have evolved thousands of years ago and they evolved in their civilizations and how they connect and so on and so forth. And there are those who only now are beginning to wake up towards their corporeal development and who knows when they'll come to their spiritual development? In other words, there's a plan, we don't know this plan. We generally don't know where we are and what we're doing but, gradually, to the extent we advance, we'll see how it works.

Don't think that there's a—although it seems like one group is developing more and another is developing less. At the end of the day, we all come to the same conclusion, and in this last generation that we're in, all of us require the same result. You can say, how can it be that people who are—who have worked, labored for the evolution of all of humanity, there are those who have done nothing in it, how can they get one result? Because they are not—because it's not their fault, it all stems from the Reshimot that exists in each and every person, exists in every nation, in every group, in every civilization. We only need to advance according to what's awakened in us, and ultimately, each one and everyone together come to one result: for the Creator to dwell in all of us together with equal intensity. There will be no difference between everyone because we all belong to one system, one desire; there are differences along the way but there are no differences in the end.

Question (Volga): (34:51) In the beginning of the lesson, you said if I don't feel that oppositeness to something then it doesn't exist in my desire, I don't see it, I don't feel it. If I look at the friends, I don't feel that I depend on them—dependency on them – so with what desires can I feel this complete dependence?

M. Laitman: You need to advance further and feel that at the end of the day, even though you didn't think about it before, but it will be shown to you. That you depend on a group, that's, more or less, roughly; later, you'll begin to feel that the desire with which you reveal the Creator does not actually dwell in you, it's not in you but it's the common desire of the group. Each and every one is present in this desire according to how much you're able to connect. Accordingly, you begin to attain the Creator, who's divided into parts in your perception, you wish to connect but you connect partially. Until you can connect to such an extent when your desires begin to merge and to bring you one result; then, the Creator will show Himself as one simple light that fills all of the desire. In other words, it fills all of reality, and then the difference between your broken foundation and the connection you've come to thanks to your effort and the revelation of one light. The difference between these two states will be the difference between the vessel and the light, it will give you the depth and the intensity of the attainment of the upper force.

Student: What is the sin of the Tree of Knowledge?

M. Laitman: He wanted to receive the light that filled the vessel in order to receive, and not more. We only have one sin that is in order to receive, there's only one commandment, Mitzvah, which is in order to bestow – everything is very simple, either one or zero.

Student: It seems that in this action the true correction began, why is it a sin then?

M. Laitman: No, according to the action of receiving in order to receive, the upper light that was in him, this is called, the sin; when he performed an action that is opposite the Creator.

Student: Is sin recognition of evil?

M. Laitman: It's not recognition of evil, yet, but it's opposite, it's going against the Creator and that's why it's called, a sin.

Question (PT 31): (38:56) When a friend already knows that he depends on the friends and they depend on him, how does it force him to work?

M. Laitman: If he depends on the friends, he cannot reach the upper force. The revelation of the Creator, the correction of his soul is part in the system of Adam HaRishon. If he understands it, he has to perform certain actions: how to connect with them in order to bring them closer to the Creator over the connection between. Not over him or the others, we don't have to correct the desires in each and every one. We have to correct our broken connections between us, that's what requires connection. On this we have to understand to what extent our desires require correction, in what, exactly? In the connection between us, not in each and every one of them, and that's how we need to look at each and every one.

Question (PT 23): (40:29) It feels like the initial shattering force always increases in people instead of waning and declining. When will the inversion begin from the expansion of the shattering towards compression and unity? It feels that the initial force of shattering continues to intensify and expand in people instead of declining and becoming corrected, when does the inversion begin?

M. Laitman: When we correct it, of course, what is the question?

Student: But what's the fuel of this acceleration that continues? Why wasn't it just a shattering, and now a compression begins? Why does it continue?

M. Laitman: The force of shattering was revealed towards us relative to our development, and according to the development of our desire and our tendency towards connection, we'll discover the shattering going into the depth of the relationship between us. And we'll reveal more of it, we see it in human development as well, the more we connect, the more we come close. The more we come closer to a greater inclination, we feel ourselves more broken. It's clear that, he who is greater than his friend, his inclination is greater. And until we discover the entire broken will in all of his manifestations, we won't be able to correct it. And all the corrections we are now trying to make are only in order to give us an opportunity to reveal the shattering more in depth. This is called, he who is greater than his friend, his inclination is greater, since each one who tries and comes to a greater understanding and recognition of creation. He sees creation more shattered, but is able to feel it and to contain it.

Question (PT 35): (43:16) The soul that divides to 600,000 souls, is that the Ten, and what is that number, basically, if we can say, if we can know? You said in the beginning that our desires have greatly evolved, today. Is that why you're saying we're in the last generation and this is our time to reach the correction of Adam HaRishon?

M. Laitman: We develop by revealing how broken we are, according to our efforts in connection, we discover more and more how not connected we are. And then, from a thing and its opposite – these two sides, the right and the left – we advance towards the revelation of the complete shattering and towards its correction. This is an answer to all, to both your questions.

Reading: (44:28) 2. Baal HaSulam, "600,000 Souls" - Twice

It is said that there are 600,000 souls, and each soul divides into several sparks. We must understand how it is possible for the spiritual to divide, since initially, only one soul was created, the soul of Adam HaRishon.

In my opinion, there is indeed only one soul in the world, as it is written (Genesis 2:7), “and breathed into his nostrils the soul [also “breath” in Hebrew] of life.” That same soul exists in all the children of Israel, complete in each and every one, as in Adam HaRishon, since the spiritual is indivisible and cannot be cut—which is rather a trait of corporeal things.

Rather, saying that there are 600,000 souls and sparks of souls appears as though it is divided by the force of the body of each person. In other words, first, the body divides and completely denies him of the radiance of the soul, and by the force of the Torah and the Mitzva [commandment], the body is cleansed, and to the extent of its cleansing, the common soul shines on him.

M. Laitman: Meaning, he explains to us once again that the created being is one desire – the soul is one desire – and that desire shattered into many desires. And each and every desire that separated from the others feel itself completely non-committed to the others at all. Whether he wants to use the others in order to ameliorate his state, but not the other way around, this tendency is called, the ego. With the shattering of the soul into pieces, the ego appeared, meaning this opposition where each one cares only about himself, that's how he feels himself. And although this divided, Baal HaSulam says that in this soul, the upper light exists in each and every one in wholeness. And the entire shattering only took place relative to us. Seemingly, we see it, we are divided, we are distant from one another. But in truth, we need only to discover that we are in one force, in one system, and according to our efforts, we return with our vision, with our attainment, to be in the same system, which is one vessel and one light, He and His name are One, as we call it.

Question (Zafon 2): (49:26) How to refine the work of connection between us?

M. Laitman: Very simple, in each and every moment of our lives we are all trying to be aimed at the connection between us, and in the center of the connection between us we want to see there our desired goal, the current state. I wish to be connected to the friends and be with one desire in them so that they won't feel the difference between us, one desire. We're all very different but it doesn't bother us and interfere with our desire to connect and to be in one desire. To reveal between us the force of bestowal, the mutual force of bestowal, and for that to be called the Creator. Boreh, Come and See, Boreh; and in this way to come to one vessel.

Student: Is it important to maintain the difference between us?

M. Laitman: No, we don't have to maintain the difference, we just simply need to maintain, to protect the connection above the differences. We don't need to cancel or annul the difference, not to cancel the ego, not to cancel the hate. Rather above those – without paying attention to what separates us and what pushes us apart – above that we need to spread out the force of love. Meaning, I look at the friends, I see many qualities in them, many desires, thoughts that I dislike; I'm happy about this discovery because I acquire a field for work on top of all those oppositions that I see in them relative to me. I should relate to them in love and be connected and have the desire to be connected to them together with all that's being revealed. This is called, Love covers all transgressions, I do not obligate them to think like me or to even exist and live like me. Rather we have only one common thing and that is the Creator, and specifically, in the connection that we have such where no one interferes with the others, but only helps him.

Reader: Let's share impressions from the lesson. What from it are we taking to implement in the Ten? Then, we'll going to move to the next part of the lesson, but before that we'll sing a song together!

Song: (58:59)
