Part 2: Baal HaSulam. "Study of the Ten Sefirot" (TES). Vol. 2. Part 6. #6.

Reader: We are learning from the Study of the Ten Sefirot, part 6, in the words of the ARI, item 6. So first we're going to read item 6 in the words of the ARI. Again, the writings of Baal HaSulam, the Study of the Ten Sefirot.

Reading: (00:35) Baal HaSulam. TES. Vol. 2. Part 6. Item 6

6. Then it wanted to bring the externality of the inner MA and BON in it outwards, and then all the phases of the inner SAG, concealed in the inner MA and BON, ascended, and the inner MA and BON ascended with them. Then, these MA and BON are their MAN, to the tastes of SAG themselves, which are not clothed inside MA and BON. They are in the role of AVI to YESHSUT, since as upper AVI make a coupling for ZON, and YESHSUT are incorporated with them, so it is here, the tastes of SAG make a coupling with all of AB. Moreover, the dots, tags, and letters of SAG connect with them and become subordinate to them. Consequently, they do not merit a name, like the above-mentioned YESHSUT. Then they engender the phase of BON of externality and their garment is outwards. Thus, the female was now born first.

Reader: Let's read item 6 again. Let's go into the lesson with Rabash.

RABASH: (04:03) We need once more to clarify, several times, what we learned. What is there below the Tabur of AK, I ask? After the refinement of the screen, I will go over it. We learned, when the light was drawn to the Peh of Galgalta, Malchut of the Rosh made a calculation: 20% I could receive in order to bestow, I will receive. 80%, if I receive anything more, it must be in order to receive. Therefore, I do not want to receive this.

Therefore we say, what is in the Rosh, which he calls the first look, the first coupling that was in potential, afterwards expands in the second look, in the second coupling, in actuality. What was in potential expands in actuality. What is there in actuality? A coupling. The fact that reflected light unites to clothe the abundance coming from above, called direct light that was in potential. The Rosh had not yet received, as if there was only a plan there.

Rather, afterwards, it received, there was a coupling on the second look. The meaning is that reflected light will lower itself from the abundance called direct light, and receives the direct light. And what is there from the Tabur downward? There it will receive, it needs to receive the part that it cannot aim in order to bestow. Only what does it receive in order to receive? So Malchut of the Tabur says, I do not want to receive. Meaning there are vessels there called desire and craving for the light, and it overcomes and says, I do not want. This is called having a screen of phase four. If so, what is there? A desire and craving for the great light. And over what does it overcome? Even though it has a craving, I do not receive it.

When Nekudot of SAG came and filled the empty vessels that are there, and saw that there is a desire and craving there to receive the great light, only that it is forbidden to draw it — they want to draw it. Why? Because it's forbidden — it does not have the power to overcome, so they wanted to draw it. It is called the light of Hassadim in the illumination of Hochma. From this light a record remained.

So we say, the lower one called Nekudot of SAG, that came into this place, was incorporated from what is there. One, it now has a desire to receive, that they want to receive, and it wants what they want, and it wants what they can do in order to bestow. But these are two opposite things. If it wants to receive in order to receive, it can no longer receive on the record of phase four over three, but it was incorporated from them; also for phase four it has no power to overcome, there's no screen. Ask yourself why they cannot overcome when you see something. We say, phase four over three that is there.

RABASH: (08:42) These records, upon which it can draw light. Who? AK, draw. Yes, it has a record of phase four over three. Don't run. Meaning, through the correction it can now draw upon phase four over three. This is within its ability. However, it was incorporated from this, and also incorporated from what it cannot — from what they cannot make a screen. So you ask, why was it incorporated from phase four over three? Meaning, we say through the corrections it will have the ability to draw light on phase four of clothing and phase three of coarseness. Why can it not be incorporated from a screen of phase four of coarseness? Phase four of coarseness. How can it be incorporated from phase four? It has no such screen.

No — what is a screen? You should learn what is a screen first. There is no screen without a restriction and without coarseness. First, there must be a desire to receive for this thing. Second, as per restriction, I do not want to receive this thing. Third, then it makes a calculation how much it can aim in order to bestow. There are these three discernments.

We say that Nekudot of SAG that descend below the Tabur are incorporated from phase four over three, upon which one can make a screen. That's one. From the restriction, it is not incorporated. What restriction? It made a restriction on phase four over three. It's forbidden to receive. So we say phase four over three, upon which one can make a screen — that's incorporated. The restriction on phase four of coarseness, that is not incorporated. It cannot overcome. Too great a pleasure, one cannot overcome. Ask yourself if you can overcome. Four over three — there was a screen upon it. There was a power of overcoming upon it. This is called in order to bestow.

Again, I have clarified now that there are three things. Coarseness, called desire to receive. Then comes restriction, that is forbidden to receive in order to receive. Then comes the screen. What is a screen? That it can receive as much as it can aim in order to bestow.

Now, I'm speaking after the refinement of the screen from phase four of Galgalta. What remains there below the Tabur of Galgalta? They say a record of the screen remained, and a restriction on coarseness. We say that the Nekudot of SAG descends below on phase four over three, upon which we can make a screen. Who? Parts of Galgalta. Records remained. We say from what it can aim in order to bestow, from that it was incorporated. And from what it cannot aim in order to bestow, meaning the restriction — from the restriction, it was not incorporated from the restriction. It itself cannot aim in order to bestow, Partzuf Galgalta.

RABASH: (13:44) But it had a restriction. So the restriction, it does not want to receive upon it. Rather, what does it want? To receive in order to receive. Even though it is forbidden. Meaning the Nekudot of SAG cannot receive the restriction on phase four. And what did they receive? From what it can do — from what it can aim in order to bestow.

It turns out, from what Galgalta can aim in order to bestow, from that too it was incorporated. And from what descends from Ima, that Galgalta cannot aim in order to bestow — rather, for it, this would be receiving in order to receive. It did not have a restriction on this. Including SAG, it cannot receive this restriction. Even Galgalta cannot aim in order to bestow, only in order to receive. However, the restriction from this, they were not incorporated. This is difficult for them.

But phase four over three, that is a small degree. They could — if so, there is a difference, three degrees. Phase four of coarseness on 20%. And now there is on phase four over three, let's say 10%. And the true phase four, all 80%. So now, phase four on 80% they want to receive. And phase four of coarseness was not incorporated. Why? Because regarding this it wanted in order to bestow. This too, it cannot do it itself. But I'm not saying it wants to receive 20% in order to receive. What does it want? The 80%. And from what was it incorporated? From what remained in Galgalta, that it can now receive in order to bestow.

And so the entire point is, from what it can aim in order to bestow, from this it was incorporated. And from what it cannot aim in order to bestow, rather it receives in order to receive, only that it made a restriction — this it was not able to do. I'm saying, from what Galgalta can aim in order to bestow, up to here it takes the power of in order to bestow. And from what it cannot aim in order to bestow, rather Galgalta itself would be in order to receive — so it has only a restriction. For whom? Galgalta. The restriction they were unable to receive.

There are two things there. There is phase four there, that even AK, Galgalta, could not aim on this quality in order to bestow. So what could it make? A restriction. They descended and saw the light, that AK itself did not do in order to bestow, so they wanted to receive the light. They cannot make a restriction on it. They crave it.

Now, we say they were incorporated from the records of phase four over three. Galgalta can aim in order to bestow, but this record remained. We say they were incorporated from phase four over three as well, but there is a question. If they now want to receive in order to receive, can they aim in order to bestow on phase four over three? Not even phase two. Not phase four over three. Not even phase one.

If so, why do we learn from Galgalta that Galgalta and Eynaim remained? This is because they are vessels of bestowal. Vessels of bestowal were not restricted, but vessels of reception, it doesn't matter — neither phase four over three, nor phase two over one, nothing, everything was restricted.

RABASH: (18:46) Afterward we learned, these records that remained, that they do need in order to receive filling, through the corrections of AB and SAG, they were corrected so that it could operate with them, with phase four over three. But phase four — on phase four it was never permitted to receive. This is not relevant to what to draw.

If so, what do we learn? Katnut means it is forbidden for us to use four over three; even phase two, Hochma phase two, it's also forbidden to use. So what — since this remained in Galgalta, that it could aim in order to bestow — we say that through the coupling of AB and SAG, they bring down again phase four that was incorporated, called receiving in order to receive, and it operates with what? With phase four over three. What are you asking about that?
