Part 2:

Baal HaSulam. Peace in the World (The Condition of Life in the Last Generation)

Reading (0:20) “The condition of life in the Last Generation”

1. R. (04:00) Look how he writes in such a nice smooth way that, actually, there is no hope for peace for now. There will always be people who want to ignite society.

2. S. (04:30) I don't understand, in that case, why are they saying wise and quick ones why don't they understand, like you said, that the well being of the world and of the state are interdependent? Then they would be happy to accept the laws of the last generation.

R. Even if they do understand who is going to listen? Who is going to agree with them?

S. Why? It's clear that if people want to be satisfied then they would want to bring it down. So they have an interest for this, isn't that true?

R. You have a country like the state of Israel and look what is going on. You have so many possibilities to turn it around a thousand times from one end to the other.

S. Baal HaSulam writes here, indirectly, that if they would understand and it's worthwhile and then they would accept the laws of the last generation. And we see that even in life has taught us that we are interdependent, and that we need to make sure that at least a majority is happy, and we see that still there are these barriers to accept it upon ourselves. Like he says, if they understand they would accept it. So why is it like this? What is preventing us from agreeing to these conditions of the last generations?

R. I guess we need to give up on something.

S. Okay. Because he doesn't write it. He says they would accept. The same wise and quick intellectuals, they need to give up on something, or everyone, or what?

R. Everyone. Each one is in his own concern. Each one is included of everybody. Each one is a better this, a better that, all kinds of calculations. That's why they can be in one smooth simple agreement. I am in my end and yours is in yours

S. So what do they need to give up on? Because we say that each one remains in his own mind, in his own opinion. He doesn’t need to change. Is there something new that’s born? So what do we need to give up on?

R. Each one must first of all connect to the purpose of life. And towards the purpose of life, he has to calculate. It is not a matter of me making peace with my neighbor. It is me calculating with my attitude towards life.

S. What is this calculation? He doesn't mention it here, seemingly. It all seems towards some social calculation.

R. Social calculation is that each one has to give up on what is important to him, and then there will be peace.

S. Yes, it's also unclear what he needs to give up on, and why he needs to give up on it.

R. So let's keep reading.

S. May I ask another question? What is this calculation towards the purpose of life that needs to enter here that causes this ability to give up on it or make concessions.

R. The purpose of life has to be as a state that everybody agrees on it, and everybody connects and unites around it, and nobody has a demand from the other. We reach wholeness. How can you do that? You see what is happening in Israel? You always have that warmest point on earth, Israel. Everything here is boiling every time. You have endless outbursts.

S. Is it because we are lacking the purpose of life ahead of us?

R. We do not want to accept our purpose of life. We do not want it.

S. How is it called purpose of life?

R. If we give up if each one gives up for the sake of the other and for that giving up we connect.

S. How does this cause called the purpose of life, how does that balance out in society?

R. If we give up, that’s each one gives up on something for the sake of the other. And, for that giving up, we connect.

S. How is the purpose of life related to this? How does it make us make these concessions?

R. Because then, in the general mutual connection, we discover the purpose of life – to be as one man with one heart.

S. So we need to make concessions to reach the purpose of life? Not to make concessions one upon the other, because that is not possible

R. Nobody knows how to do it. Nobody has the forces for it. There is no support for it.

S. What is the purpose of life?

R. If we would agree the purpose of our life is connection between us, above all disturbances above all opinions. So first of all, we would be engaging in it. We would let go of all our philosophy and technology, and we would only engage in connection. That there is nothing more than connection.

S. That would give us fuel to make concessions?

R. Yes, the connection between us would give fuel for everyone.

S. Why do we have the ability to make concessions towards connection but once toward the other we don't?

R. Because we see the goal.

S. What is the goal? You said the goal is connection.

R. To be as one man in one heart, yes.

S. Why would it give us the ability to make concessions?

R. Because it comes along with the purpose of creation.

3. S. (12:09) It's not clear why is making concessions a condition for connection? Why is it on each one what they have and then we rise above that without making concessions to rise above it for the Creator being one and giving us everything that we have? Why do we need to make concessions?

R. You're right, and that's not a concession?

S. Yeah, maybe there are concessions here. But when we look at it the Creator gives each one some kind of basis, and he needs to bring that into connection to Creator, a bigger connection. If each one will make these concessions, then we lose the foundation, the substance, from which you can build connection. The whole idea is how to reach connection above each and every one's difference.

R. Yes.

S. Where can we use these concessions and use them correctly?

R. Only through love. Love obligates a person to concede. The concession brings connection.

S. Without this love it feels like concession is just a lie?

R. Right, it's unattainable

S. Yes, I'm like pushing myself but I'm not really correcting anything. At some point it will bounce back?

R. Right.

S. So we need to find a way to prevent this from happening? Otherwise it's just unreal if it's not based on connection to start with.

R. If we make a connection through the Arvut, where each one holds on to the other, so we won't fall from conceding anymore.

4. S. (14:30) I want to ask from the dissemination side. Baal HaSulam changed the talking from the religious kind of writing to a social one. I wanted to ask, we say connection the Creator will reveal between us, and here he is saying that the goal is peace in the world. Can we use it that way? Because sometimes we get a little confused with that. That the goal is peace in the world that everyone can attain.

R. The peace in the world is the goal, right? Because that is the general completion between all.

5. S. (16:20) I would like to maybe see this from a different angle, the writings here. He says as long as the laws of society are not satisfying those who are in the world and they leave a minority, then the minority will be dissatisfied and they will crave war and bloodshed. Here it is almost one hundred years ago, right? Why didn't any of this happen? We see things are becoming even worse. And that is exactly how things are happening today. Each one is taking care of their own. Why isn't it happening? What else needs to happen so that what he writes here will take place?

R. I don't know what to tell you. I am not responsible for what he wrote but your question without Baal HaSulam what is it?

S. Can you change this egoism that each one will receive to himself? Not interested by anyone else. Each one only taking care of themselves. True egoists. How can we change so that those who are truly poor will have. In other words, that each one will not care only for themselves but each one will care for society.

R. You want it to come from above or that we do it?

S. I want both. That also we will take care of it and also from above. How can this be done?

R. We need to do such actions that against them we invite the upper light that corrects us. In order for us to invite the upper light that corrects us, we need to be close to it. That means that we need to perform actions of bestowal.

S. Let's say we succeeded. Will it influence the rest or is it only among us?

R. If we have such states between us where we help each other, by that we will draw a great force from above that will correct all of reality.

S. So it will also influence everyone?

R. Yes.

6. S. (19:31) I would like to ask about the unity event that will take place on Sunday. I'm so envious of the friends in Israel that will come to the center. It is just not letting me sleep. I also know that you will be in the event and you will give a lesson. I saw the schedule. I saw that there is going to be a gathering on the roof. There is going to be a celebration. My question is how can we be included with the friends in Israel in order to not miss anything from the event. How will we feel that we are with you?

R. Well who can maybe have more to say about this from us?

M. (20:40) I will give a few details about the event. Talking about the 28th of May. We're meeting here in Israel in our Center and in the world Kli in the Arvut system. We are starting off on the roof with songs and hugs of all the friends here in Israel. And those who are not here in the building will be connected to the broadcast and we're going between the friends and put everyone in the state of joy and then we will go down to a festive gathering with a lot of music and then we're going to have a talk with the Rav and sources that talk about one man in one heart with the law of the Arvut that we spoke about. And we will talk together, watch together a video of the land of Israel. It will teach us about the wisdom of Kabbalah in simple terms. And we are going to have comedy skits and music and connection. Connection. That is what we are coming at, at the end of the day. So it’s going to be a celebration.

7. S. (22:15) The friend is here in their heart, even though he is in another country. How can we guarantee that he is included and he can absorb the spirit that is going to be here?

R. Should we send him a ticket? If he agrees and if it's possible, send him a ticket. What is it, a 2-hour flight? I’d do that. He is very drawn to this.

S. What about the rest of the friends? We won't send tickets to everyone. The question is how is someone who is not in Israel how can they be included in the event?

R. So we're going to do our best to give them everything through the system.

S. That's clear. That’s not the question. How will they internally be included?

R. Connect our hearts together, open to them and enter there together and we will all be there together. That is it. Together, together, together.
