Hello everybody, we are reading from Rabash, the article “Discernments in States”. You can find the study material on kabbalahmedia.info and on the  Arvut system.

Reading Article: (00:42) Discernments in States

Article copied and pasted from the source article. Do not edit.

A “servant” is called a “giving force.” A “handmaid” is called a “receiving force.” A Zivug [coupling] is the force that connects the receiving force with the force of giving so it will be receiving in order to bestow. An “offshoot” is that by which one is rewarded with a soul, which is a part of God above, meaning that the person feels it.

The Creator makes the Zivug, meaning that the Creator helps the receiving force yield to the giving force and makes it able to receive in order to bestow.

When a person makes a Zivug, meaning by a person, without the Creator’s help, no offspring will come out of the Zivug because they cannot connect. Therefore, one becomes lame and one becomes blind, as Raba said, “I beseech you, do not inherit a double Hell.”

“A man and a woman, if they are rewarded, the Shechina [Divinity] is between them.” We should ask, If they are opposite, how can there be peace between them?

It is specifically when one becomes worthy, when he inverts reception into bestowal, called “receiving in order to bestow,” there is peace between them. Otherwise, they are in dispute or that one yields before the other. Yielding is not regarded as love in wholeness, for the one who yields always waits for when he will regain the power of control.

M. Laitman: (03:20) This is, in essence, the short article by Rabbah. And let's see the questions.

Question (W MAK): (03:38) What is the vessel of the Ten that will be rewarded with receiving in order to bestow?

M. Laitman: When they want to receive in order to give it to the Creator.

Student: How can the Ten show their readiness for the bestowal to the Creator?

M. Laitman: If they didn't want to receive, but when they unite together, each one wants to give and receive, and then, between them, this vessel is formed, this vessel of reception for bestowal.

Student: To what does this bestowal of the Ten give birth?

M. Laitman: It gives birth to similarity to the Creators.

Question (W Moscow): (05:17) It turns out that because of the soul, the force of reception doesn't subjugate to bestowal, but there is a sort of control that's not just waiting to escape from it. Is it all thanks to the soul?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: In order to draw the soul, what do we need to do? Is it just desire or is there more that influences us being given the soul?

M. Laitman: This is the desire of the people that are in Ten to unite, meaning to unite our desires to give, so that there will be a strong big desire to bestow between them that will be similar somewhat to the Creator.

Student: Can it be that this soul is collective to the whole Ten, and there's someone who's already feeling it and using it, and another's not?

M. Laitman: Yes, this can be.

Question (W Petah Tikva 33): (06:45) We had a meeting in our Ten, and we tried to get to an agreement unanimously, and now we're reading this article. It sounds like if each of us receives in order to bestow, then we will get to this unanimous decision, or is there something else?

M. Laitman: No, it's enough.

Question (W MAK 43): (07:38) How can each of us walking on the spiritual path be able to listen to the friends and not to inherit the double hell?

M. Laitman: This means that you have to unite between you so there will be a Kli that the Creator can fill it.

Student: From what we understand, it says that from above we won't be able to have the coupling, and that it will be in order to bestow. So, what is our active participation here?

M. Laitman: The participation is that you all want to unite to attain a common desire to bestow.

Question (W MAK 43): (08:58) If harmony is by inverting the will to receive in order to bestow, can it mean that the Shechina, being concealed, departing, is on purpose so that there will be preparation for this greater expansion?

M. Laitman: Yes, well said.

Question (W Baden-W): (09:38) Our Ten had a very strong descent, and we are ascending. We started meeting in person. What would you recommend for us?

M. Laitman: Of course it's good.

Student: What should we do during the meeting? Not just hugging, because we don't all like that. How do we hold each other?

M. Laitman: No, these are physical actions. Of course, they are useful in some way but it doesn't symbolize anything. You just choose a couple of good articles that speak of unification between you, and then you will feel in the meeting, when you talk about this, to what extent you are connected internally between you.

Question (W Turkiye 7): (11:03) Unless the Creator helps me, there will be no peace between these two opposing forces. How should we raise the right demand so that the Creator will deem us worthy?

M. Laitman: They have to unite between you, and from this unity, turn to the Creator so He creates this unity between you, and He makes this strong, real, and that you want to feel it, and out of this feeling, continue and figure out what else you need to do.

Question (W Hebrew 2): (12:03) It's written that a man and a woman, if they are rewarded, the Shechina is between them, and if they are opposite, how can there be peace between them? So really, how can there be peace between them?

M. Laitman: A man and a women are opposite because the first gives the force of bestowal, and the other the force of reception, and they both act from their side. They strive towards each other and unite in one Kli.

Student: What's the action? It's written here that neither needs to subjugate to the other, so what is the action that we need to do here?

M. Laitman: The action that unites them is that they are opposite, men and women, but they want to be united.

Student: So it's just desire?

M. Laitman: Just desire, the rest created us.

Question (W Hebrew 2): (13:17) We don't unite conflict and peace, we unite the rejection of each other in front of the Creator, the slave and the slave woman, right? Question not translated, but typed here.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: Each annuls toward the Creator?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (MAK 11): (14:04) There is such a phrase in the article, I will read it now. “It is specifically when one becomes worthy, when he inverts reception into bestowal, called “receiving in order to bestow,” there is peace between them.” Does it depend on a person and the Creator is not mentioned at all?

M. Laitman: He wants to change to make this transition for bestowal, and the Creator does it. Our task is to desire to bestow, and we ask the Creator to create this desire in us. This is what we want.

Question (W Rehovot 1): (15:04) Toward the Congress, I am concerned about how to get to Lishma, but here it is written that yielding is not in wholeness. So, how to get to this complete love? How will there be a desire to advance at all?

M. Laitman: You know that you are still in uncorrected vessels, and you have to rise to a state where you want to be corrected. You ask the Creator about this.

Question (W MAK 48): (16:09) What does it mean to yield this force of reception to bestowal?

M. Laitman: You want it to be this way in you, so that the force of bestowal is bigger than the force of reception.

Student: We do this through love.

M. Laitman: The Creator does this.

Queston (English 1): (16:39) It says that the Creator makes the Zivug, the action which allows this striking between the two forces. Even though I can't imagine what that might look like or feel like, is it enough just to think and yearn and want, even though that's very blunt and inarticulate, for that to happen, and dwell on it and wish for it, even though I don't really know what it is, at this point.

M. Laitman: Correct. Even if we don't know, we don't feel how this can be, but we ask, nevertheless.

Question (W Italy): (17:45) Receive to give peace, give submission, everything is received from him. How do we overcome human obstacles that are sometimes aggressive? How do we overcome these obstacles?

M. Laitman: Only that you want to advance towards the Creator, and He will do this. The one who creates peace up high will create peace below.

Question (W Spain): (18:54) What is the connection between yielding and love?

M. Laitman: Subjugation is that I don't have a choice, and I bring myself down from above before the one who is smarter than me, who knows more than me. This is the force of subjugation, submission.

Question (MAK 11): (19:47) A person makes a Zivug without the Creator's help.

How could a person make a Zivug without the Creator's help?

M. Laitman: Without the Creator's help, it's impossible.

Student: So, why is it written this way?

M. Laitman: He can cause it, but it's only done under the power of the Creator.

Question (W Hebrew 2): (20:26) In order to overcome obstacles, we need to connect to the Creator, and the Creator will make peace. So, how do we continue with the Creator? How do we turn our reception into bestowal when it's not in our strength?

M. Laitman: We don't have to perform actions. We have to expect, ask for this action to be revealed between us. That's it.

Student: The action isn't just one; there are many efforts. So, how does a person know that he's getting to the result if he doesn't see that his actions are advancing him?

M. Laitman: So perhaps you haven't asked in a serious way. Try to turn to each other and unite, and your general desire to turn to the Creator. Try it. Continue trying.

Question (W Hebrew 2): (22:02) A feeling of a person is a Godly part. Is it the world above us, and can we start to feel it and to trust it?

M. Laitman: Yes, try it, and position yourself in such a way that you will achieve it.

Question (W Tbilisi): (22:43) We are a few countries here in the Tbilisi room. We want to give an example of wanting to attain the Creator. We have gathered above all the corporeal disturbances and are opening each other's hearts and we would like to ask for a blessing to continue to the end.

M. Laitman: My dear beloved women of Georgia and Azerbaijan, Armenia and Kavkaz.

M. Laitman: The united group of women of Kavkaz, I am very happy about your gathering and that you are all addressing me from Tbilisi. I am praying for you, and I am asking for you to succeed. If you are ready for such unity, that means the Creator walks with you and He will fulfill all your desires. Do you have any questions?

Student: Yes, there is a concern and great love.

M. Laitman: This is what needs to be trepidation.

Question (W MAK 123): (24:36) We are trying to work in one desire and to bestow. How do we hold the correct intention when there is always this change of feelings and emotions and relations to the friends.

M. Laitman: Try to hold on to everyone in your general heart so it's so it always feels where it can be led, and you stabilize it. You need this stabilizer that holds you in the correct state between you and the Creator. I am sure that you will succeed.

Question (W Turkiye 7): (25:38) When we yield ourselves in the spiritual work and it becomes challenging, how do we then increase love for our friends?

M. Laitman: Only in order to get closer to each other, hold on to each other, embrace and you will feel this embrace and this will help you to get out of all the dissents.

Question (W MAK 23): (26:33) When it's rewarded with inverting reception into bestowal, then there is peace between them. Do we do this in the Ten?

M. Laitman: You achieve this in the Ten. He will bestow on to you, and you receive not for yourself but for your friends in order to unite this in one movement back to the Creator.

Question (W Moscow 6): (27:11) How inside of me does there need to be this reception and bestowal connected when I pray for the friend and I pray for the Creator to give the strength? So, on one hand I need to give and on the other hand to ask the Creator for strength. So then continue to work and I am thanking the Creator and giving Him my heart? That's how it needs to be?

M. Laitman: Yes, yes. It always needs to be spinning around in your heart.

Question (W MAK 26): (28:10)) When a person incorporates in the society, is he doing coupling, a Zivug?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: When a person doesn't have a correct intention, he then becomes lame and blind?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: Can a person, by the intention, be able to guide the group?

M. Laitman: Of course.

Question (Turkiye 1): (29:06) What does it mean that a man and a woman are rewarded?

M. Laitman: If a man and a woman are rewarded with thinking about the quality of his soul, this brings them closer to the Creator, and the Creator takes their desire, their prayer, and realizes the action.

Student: How did I get to canceling myself despite all these oppositions?

M. Laitman: This is performing an action of unification between men and women, the groups, and then we'll see how this is realized

Question (Hadera 1): (30:27) In the last paragraph, Rabash writes that yielding is not regarded as love and wholeness, for the one who yields always waits for when he regains the power of control. So, toward this love and wholeness, this subjugation, this yielding, is it necessary or do we need to skip over this? It's not clear.

M. Laitman: We shouldn't connect love in such a way or remove it, but we have to get closer, not through subjugation, by submission, but by realizing that we have to perform one action of bestowal between us and with the Creator.

Student: There is no room here for subjugation?

M. Laitman: No.

Question (W Ukraine 2): (31:56) Yesterday you said that if we want to grow, we need to do actions of bestowal. What does it mean to do good in the Ten?

M. Laitman: To help each friend as much as we can with everything he needs to move forward.

Student: We don't have a lot of needs in the Ten where you will be able to grow. Please listen to recording in Hebrew for accuracy of this question.

M. Laitman: Try to do what the friend wants so your forces connect to her forces, and you do what she wants.

Question (MAK 11): (32:59) What is the type of Zivug? Is it Bina?

M. Laitman: A Zivug is not Bina. A Zivug is in Malchut when it connects all the forces of bestowal and reception.

Student: And how can we use it in the group?

M. Laitman: No, there is no way. You want to connect different parts of you like an engineer, so you end up with some kind of mechanism. This won't work.  This is only from the heart.

Question (W MAK 48): (33:51) With what intention should we read such articles, because there are many things here that it's hard to understand with the mind. There are many allegories.

M. Laitman: Read them a few times and you'll see that all of these articles are revealed between you without any problem

Question (W MAK 48): (34:20) Do I understand correctly that first we need to learn to use the quality of bestowal for bestowal, and then we can get to bestowal with the quality of the screen. So, we can't receive until we acquire the quality of bestowal for bestowal?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (W French): (34:51) If men and women are acting together to come to bestowal, how do they use their connection for the Creator?

M. Laitman: Usually we don't deal with these kind of questions, man and woman and their future way of how they can help each other. It won't be Kabbalah. It would be some romance novel.

Student: But if a man is in the group or a woman is in the group, can we attract the light of the Creator in prayer for the families of Bnei Baruch, for example?

M. Laitman: It's possible of course, and it can be very impactful.

Question (W MAK 25): (35:55) What's the difference between self-annulment before the Ten and the subjugation that the article speaks of where you want power anyway.

M. Laitman: You have to get to this, and then you will feel what's happening. Your question is, let's say, not in place. There is no place for it.

Question (W Spain): (36:55) The Creator, in the process of Zivug, had to help unite these two forces of subjugation and reception?

M. Laitman: This simple uncoupling? of reception and subjugation that are connected together. This is the Creator doing it. We just need to ask for such a state.

Question (W MAK 97): (37:39) Rabash says that subjugation is not the perfect state, that only love and connection are the perfected state?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (W Spain): (38:15) What can strengthen the Ten if it falls every day?

M. Laitman: They do what we are reading in the articles, to be as one man in one heart, each one will help his friend. That's what can strengthen them.

Student: Another question. Is patience a spiritual quality?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (W MAK 26): (39:45) Both children and adults love games. Can games help virtual groups to build an intention in a better way?

M. Laitman: I don't know Let's try. Do you have such games? Send them to me and we'll see.

Question (W Tbilisi): (40:25) Bestowal for bestowal and reception for bestowal. When a person prays for the children, for the friends. Is this bestowal for bestowal?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: What is reception for bestowal?

M. Laitman: When you want to receive, instead of the others in order to change them by yourself.

Question (W Moscow): (41:21) Does the need for the change depend on the number of actions we perform for bestowal?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: How do we work on the action and intention if the number of actions is what counts?

M. Laitman: No, the quantity does not count. It is always relative, the quality and the quantity.

Student: Some actions that I perform in the Ten, in dissemination are like rapid fire, I am doing them thinking that intention will come by itself. Or should I check my intention first before each shot, see that it is wrong and ask. How do we act correctly?

M. Laitman: The second.

Question (W MAK 137): (42:19) Why do I have no strength to pray for correction when I don't feel it's important, and how do I do it correctly?

M. Laitman: As much as possible to be connected with the friends.

Question (W Turkiye 7): (42:55) I had to strengthen this decision that no matter what happens, I'm here to love the friends and not that I'm here for the friends to love me. How to strengthen it?

M. Laitman: You need to talk about it between you, to talk about it and then it will enter into your mind, into your heart and you will start to think only about that.

Question (W Spain): (44:52) How can a person acquire similarity to the Creator in order to come to a Zivug with the Creator?

M. Laitman: A person needs to be in a strong Ten, and together with the Ten to connect and raise a prayer to the Creator. Then the Creator will go toward them and connect them, the whole Ten, in Him, in the Creator. And that can be.

Question (Turkiye 7): (46:13) What I felt throughout my life is that love is the basis of everything. When I develop connections with my friends, or my wife, it is a battle with the angel of death. It’s always stronger than me. This is the world of Klipa, the world of the angel of death. There needs to be a miracle that is higher than pride. I don't see a result in this world. The force of light is weak in this world, and there's no hope.

M. Laitman: There is hope. What you say is right. You're not wrong. You're going in the right way, going straight. And what will happen, when this spiritual path will open for you, this new path, is soon. But certainly, you are going correctly up to this point. You're doing right, and you're succeeding.

Question (W Kavkaz 1): (48:43) Is a Zivug is the force of bestowal on the force of reception of the friend, or is this the force of the Creator on our common force of reception?

M. Laitman: Zivug, the coupling, is the force of closeness that's between us and the Creator.

Student: First, we have to unite our efforts to get closer to the Creator, or we unite through Him, through the Creator.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (W Kavkaz 1): (49:21) What is spiritual bestowal? Every time we get stuck because we are inside of our nature, no matter what we do, it's kind of a natural process to give warmth to the Creator. True success is spiritual, and we have to enliven it.

M. Laitman: Probably, that's how it is.

Question (W MAK 43): (50:07) When I feel an inner conflict between the desire to receive and the desire to bestow, I understand that I have to bring my desire to receive to the work, and that bestowal is revealed in the potential of reception. Why do I feel a barrier? I'm afraid to receive for bestowal.

M. Laitman: To receive in order to bestow is excellent.

Student: I'm always afraid of making a mistake, of fumbling.

M. Laitman: It's for nothing, because it's better to advance than to receive help. To receive or to bestow, it doesn't matter. What matters is to advance in each step.

Student: So, I just have to trust the Creator?

M. Laitman: For sure.

Question (MAK 24): (51:35) Reception for bestowal in the Ten feels like pleasure from being in the Ten. We get pleasure that the Creator put some enormous gift through the Ten, and we're happy about this.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (W MAK): (52:38) Going through all the states is going through all the states of friends?

M. Laitman: Not exactly. There are many other states that you don't need to go through.

Student: What kind of work should we perform when we enter the perception of a different friend?

M. Laitman: You just need to see in what way you can help others, and what you can connect with them.

Question (W Tbilisi): (53:32) In the text, it says that a man is the one that performs a Zivug, coupling. When does a person perform a coupling, and why isn't there any offspring because of the Zivug?

M. Laitman: It's not always. It's in the circumstance that he's still not in a whole state, in connection with others.

Student: What does it mean that a person that performs a Zivug? How can a man perform a Zivug?

M. Laitman: Such a person that has a desire to bestow, and it's so that the will to receive is shown for him, and then in these two desires, there's a Zivug, a coupling, and it's a mix of giving, and these two states having it there.

Student: What does it mean that a person that performs a Zivug?

M. Laitman: It is what creates a Mitzvah, commandment.

Student: Why does it say that there's no offspring? If it's in the power of the man, and without the help of the Creator, a man is the one that performs a coupling, and without the Creator's help, and then it says, no offspring will come out of the Zivug. If this is performing a Mitzvah, why is there no offspring?

M. Laitman: Because probably there's not enough foundation, or so to it.?

Question (W MAK): (55:56) In the group, we have someone who is in need. She's suffering spiritually and corporeally. She can't come out of her maze, but the prayer isn't accepted very well. How do we awaken the friends to understand this situation correctly?

M. Laitman: I don't know. You need to do that she will be in the same state as the rest of the friends in the group.

Student: I think through a prayer for her, we could unite together and help her.

M. Laitman: So, do so.

Question (W MAK 51): (57:03) We're all talking about the Zivug. Can a man open to the Zivug that's performed, the Zivug with the help of the Creator?

M. Laitman: Yes, he can.

Student: So, for this, you need to do this and the other, and then you know where to do it by yourself, or does it speak of some intellectual effort, an intention, addressing the Creator?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (W SPA): (57:55) At the beginning of the article, it says if the Creator is a force of bestowal, what do we subjugate ourselves to?

M. Laitman: The subjugation is on himself, on his desire to receive for himself.

Question (W Italy): (58:21) Our ____? giving, accepting everything, transforms reality. Should we believe that in any situation that comes to us from above, if we make an intention to the Creator, with His help it will succeed?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: Is there, in this situation, only our faith without our pride?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (W MAK 113): (59:41) We are talking about super important things, and here there are messages of Kabbalah that transmit information. What do we come to love when we are praying for the force of the Creator and hoping for the help of the friends. Is this correct?

M. Laitman: Yes.
