Preparation for Opening the Heart at the Congress - Selected Excerpts from the Sources.

Reader: Hello, we're in a special lesson in preparation for our upcoming convention this weekend. In about four days, we're going to be connected with the whole world Kli for a world convention, three days long, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and the topic of the convention is In One Prayer. Our lesson today will be on the topic of preparation of opening our hearts. We'll be reading Rabash and Baal HaSulam articles that will warm up our hearts, connect us more to one Ten and to one world Ten even. Rav, maybe before we enter the sources, how in the days that remain can we come to the convention and be in it truly in one prayer?

M. Laitman: I think it's a must for us to feel the real situation that we are in, and be able, through our inner efforts, to open all of these channels that we have with the Creator. He will open our hearts and show us our true state, what is happening to us, and what has been prepared for us in the near future. It's very important. So, it's clear that we will do everything in what we see, what we will see. That's it.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (01:54) What depends on us for the Creator to open our hearts?

M. Laitman: Only to turn to Him and ask, because our hearts are in His hands.

Student: And what's in our hands?

M. Laitman: To ask. But we don't really have a need for it. This is why we need to talk about it among ourselves, and each one should try to awaken the general world Kli and then our request will be accepted. The beginning of the convention and its results nevertheless depends on us. That's it.

Reader: Let's start to read. Rabash writes in excerpt number one,

Reading: (03:03) 1. RABASH, Article 13 (1984), “Sometimes Spirituality Is Called ‘a Soul’”

We must always awaken what the heart forgets, what is needed for the correction of the heart—Love of friends—whose purpose is to achieve love of others.

This is not a pleasant thing for the heart, which is called “self-love.” Hence, when there is a gathering of friends, we must remember to bring up the question, meaning everyone should ask himself how much we have advanced in love of others, and how much we have done to promote us in that matter.

M. Laitman: Yes, there should be a concern within each and everyone's hearts and in response to this concern, the Creator will bring us His answer. What more do we need in order to feel the hearts of all our friends all over the world as one heart, and that each of us will be facing this heart and will want only one thing: to feel its internality, to feel its desire, and to get an answer for it, to feel his own internality and desire and get an answer for it.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (05:01) A person who wants to be in bestowal, why does he even make calculations how much I've advanced in love of others?

M. Laitman: That's the question. No one has a necessity to be in bestowal upon others. This is how we are created, and therefore, we must constantly awaken each other, learn from each other, and then we may feel the general deficiency that we must obtain through our connection, and then we will succeed.

Student: And where does the necessity stem from?

M. Laitman: The necessity stems from the fact that we are broken. And only because of that, because of our shattering can we extract from there the remnants of this result, that we went through the shattering, that we are not connected as one man with one heart, and this is what will help us rise to connection.

Student: You say that we need to feel all the hearts of all of our friends in the whole world as one heart.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: In the Congress, each of us gathers in his Ten, but we're all in one common space.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: What precisely do I need to feel?

M. Laitman: Each of us should try to feel the hearts of all the friends all over the world, how much they need to come closer to each other and come into a connection until we feel all of us being in one heart.

Student: Should I go out of the borders of the heart of my Ten?

M. Laitman: No, you cannot say that. And then I, within the connection inside the Ten, I also feel connections with all the people in the world, with all our friends all over the world.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (08:21) Yes, Rav opened the question, I mean the answer, may He open our hearts and show us our true state. Where will we get the strength or the forces to be able to truly see our true state?

M. Laitman: The strength we get from above, from the upper force, from the Creator. And that's the question we need to answer. It is a question that must awaken the Creator to help us, to open for us a deficiency for a connection among all of us, among all the hearts.

Student: What's our true state between us that we need to see?

M. Laitman: Our true state is that then we will see how much we are still not as one man with one heart. How much we are still, how far we still are from one another. This is what we'll feel.

Student: So, when such a feeling comes, what will keep a person from despair?

M. Laitman: Connection with others. We constantly see to the connection between us, and what we want to add to the connection between us is more being as one man with one heart, or receiving from the Creator more discernment regarding how much we are still lacking connection.

Student: That is to see the request of seeing our own state is only to add in connection?

M. Laitman: Yes, nothing else is missing.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (10:44) I heard that we need to open inner channels for connections with the Creator.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: What kind of channels are these?

M. Laitman: The inner channels we need to open in order to reveal the Creator, to connect to Him more internally, in a more special way, is what we need to discover through the connection between us, through the pressure to unite the friends into one heart. Basically, this is all we need, all that we are lacking.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (11:50) We change from moment to moment. What's the measure of advancement or the indication of advancement in love of friends?

M. Laitman: To what extent I feel that I incorporate within my heart the nearing of all the friends to being together.

Student: How much have we advanced in love of friends? Like it's a question outside of my inner vessels that are changing, but it's some kind of examination that's not dependent on my state.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: Can you help with what does a person do with starting to measure that doesn't depend on his personal state, like love of friends. How do we know to add?

M. Laitman: I need to see not only to feeling my friends, but that each of them will also feel everyone. And then when we unite, we get a strong desire in one heart, that truly opens for us the gates to be in contact with the Creator.

Question (Philippines): (13:41) My question is concerning about the true meaning of the love of friends. Is the love of friends, I'm just curious, does the love of friends include bringing our friends into a state of pain and suffering for his spiritual development just like what the Creator gives us?

M. Laitman: Yes, we need to muster all our concerns, and all our desires, and all the inclinations that all the friends have, and see them as one heart, as being in one heart. This is what we need. So, we should try at least now in this day and tomorrow, these days, to be close in our hearts.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (15:29) We understand and feel the true need for the special prayer for the Creator, for His help. It's really important for us now before the Congress to really - we want to discover the truth. How do we remove this fear from us, this sensation that we're not ready to discover the truth all the way? We want to discover the truth truly between us and really reach our true, real prayer between us. We have four more days, we want to reveal the truth. What else do we need to do to reveal this truth?

M. Laitman: We need to open our hearts. Our hearts are in the hands of the Creator. And this is why we should turn to Him, and He will help us open our hearts. And if we insist on it, we will feel that this is really the key that opens our hearts, and then it will happen.

Student: During these days, do we need to proceed the prayer so that the Creator will help us open our hearts and see the truth?

M. Laitman: Yes, yes, of course. We need to feel that we are in one desire, in one goal, one inclination. That the Creator can make of it one place where our hearts are connected. And in this way, we will come to feel all the desires in one heart.

Student: Last question. He writes here that we need to put things on the table. In addition to our prayer, what do we need to put on the table now in the Tens before us? What is necessary now for us so that we will truly feel that we want to open everything up?

M. Laitman: I think that anything we now say we should add to it our goal, our inclination, to being as one man in one heart, all of us together. To rise in degrees of turning to the Creator, asking from the Creator, and this is how we will succeed.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (18:32) I have a refinement to the question from the Philippines. I think so that the answer should be precise and not be interpreted any other way. The friends were asking, do we too, the friends, need to bring the rest of the friends to a state of sorrow and suffering, just like the Creator does to us sometimes, in order to help the friend in his development?

M. Laitman: If we feel such an opportunity, then yes.

Student: To evoke sorrow and torments in a friend?

M. Laitman: No, but in an indirect way to make them check themselves and see how much they are still lacking in order to raise their deficiency together with others to the Creator.

Student: Another question. Do we need to attain love of others, or effort in attaining love of others ourselves, or is it only the Creator who gave it to us, and we just ask for it?

M. Laitman: The power, and direction, and the sensation of others comes to us through the Creator.

Student: What is all our effort if all we need to do is ask? Let's just ask, why do I need to exert in love?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: Why labor in love of friends, where in the end, I just have to ask the Creator. I should just go straight, ask the Creator?

M. Laitman: You won't have what to ask, you will not have a feeling that you're asking, that you want the Creator to turn to you in return, to answer you. You understand? It is still concealed.

Question (Kyiv 1): (20:28) You said that the Creator needs to answer me, relate to me. When the Creator appeals to me, does He give me the Kli of the Ten, or in the general Kli of the world Kli? How would I feel it?

M. Laitman: In the Ten, in general, in the Ten. I the end, a person feels it in the Ten.

Student: You talked a lot about needing to feel the common heart of the world Kli, and that the gates will be revealed there, that feeling of the Creator. So, how can we correctly feel the world Kli, I mean, from the Ten feel the heart of the world, Kli?

M. Laitman: For this, you should simply be closer to your friends, in all the groups, in all the Tens wherever they are. Try to be together with them, feel them, the difficulties on their way to connection among themselves and with the Creator. All this will be, will gradually become organized in them. It already exists, but it's becoming more and more revealed, but you have to make more efforts.

Question (H 10): (21:58) How in the Ten can we keep this state that we've achieved in the Ten and not lose it somehow?

M. Laitman: Return to it. All the states are incorporated in one another, both within a person and in the whole world Kli. So, we should only repeat it, return to it, and you'll see that it will become much more compact, much more conjoined to one another.

Student: Are we ready for this, or do we still need to…?

M. Laitman: We are ready, we are ready, we are already ready. And out of this willingness, we must demand the opening of the hearts.

Question (Florida): (23:09) How does one incorporate his heart correctly with the friends?

M. Laitman: It comes to him as a result of his efforts. As a result of his efforts, he feels himself as being in the Ten, as being in a circle. And that circle wants to be connected to the infinite circle, and this is how it will happen.

Question (W PT 23): (24:15) How, within the connection with the Ten, can we feel the connections with all our friends in the world and still concentrate our efforts in the Ten?

M. Laitman: I need to be concentrated in my intention, in my inclination, or tendency or leaning towards my Ten, and through it to other Tens, to the whole world Kli. And in that effort I will feel, through my efforts, a response that I get from some group. And in this way, I'll begin to come closer to them.

Student: If so, how beneficial is it to organize from time to time meetings with other Tens?

M. Laitman: That, too, can be useful, instrumental. But we need to see, because sometimes we connect to other Tens, and by this we don't go up but down. This, too, happens. So, see how it's possible.

Question (ITA 4): (26:04) I'm in a state in which I almost hate a friend from my group. Is that good or beneficial, correct to pray, so the Creator will give me the strength to overcome or to love the friend?

M. Laitman: If that friend were your little child, you would connect to him, you would relate to him with love. Nevertheless, you would want to correct him, to bring him closer, to come closer to him yourself, to be together with him in one heart, one desire. So, it all depends on how a person makes of himself a vessel, an instrument for connection with others.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (27:19) He writes here that due to the self love in a person, love of others is kind of lost from his heart. So he suggests that a person should ask himself each time how much he's advanced towards love of others, towards love of friends, what actions he's done. I don't understand how this scrutiny he does with himself, how does it contribute for his heart to be forgotten or for it to be pleasant to his heart, this whole love of others?

M. Laitman: He wants his heart to always be with a deficiency for feeling the others, this friend. And this is how he will advance.

Student: And the scrutiny he does with himself all the time and how much he's advanced, this is what gives him the MAN?

M. Laitman: It gives him, it opens for him a way to reach adhesion with the friend.

Student: This is just a simple council here, or is there a matter of a person rising above his feeling, or his perception, his reason?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: Whenever Rabash writes about above reason, I'm sure it's here also, so the advice?

M. Laitman: The advice, as it's written there, to open the heart and accept the friend as a part of the heart.

Question (PT 35): (29:04) What is it, a real action that advances us in love of others and not just in talking?

M. Laitman: Only connection between us. Only connection in one heart, in one desire toward one goal. Only this can advance us.

Student: So, how will we be able to identify whether our heart has truly opened towards the friends, or that we are still remaining in our egoistic desire to receive?

M. Laitman: You will gradually feel it, you are approaching it, that you are more in one desire, one leaning, one prayer. It will come. Only now, not long ago, we started talking about it.

Student: So, what's the practical meaning of the wearing of the hearts between friends?

M. Laitman: The friction of the hearts, meaning the hearts rub against each other, and then in each of them there’s nothing that disturbs the other. Rather they all become as one heart, and this is how we advance.

Student: So if in the work in the Ten, we cause a certain friction or differences between us and we change them into warmth, how can we do that?

M. Laitman: You need, despite having, of course, in each one having his own tendencies and nonsense, you need to be together, to try to be together. Try.

Reader: I have that excerpt that you were asked about just now. Rabash writes in excerpt number two from letter number 40, “Through the friction of the hearts, even of the strongest ones, each will bring out warmth from the walls of his heart, and the warmth will ignite the sparks of love until a clothing of love will form. Then both of them will be covered under one blanket, meaning a single love will surround and envelop two of them, as it is known that Dvekut, adhesion, unites two into one.”

Question (Turkiye 1): (32:26) In the upcoming convention, there will be many local gatherings. How will friends who gather in one local place in the world be able to unite with the Creator in one heart?

M. Laitman: We talk about it. We say that now that we are sitting in a big group, how do I connect to some small group, right? And by this, I focus my efforts more on the goal.

Question (W Heb 1): (33:28) I am asking for a friend from Turkiye. What does it mean to feel the will of the Creator? How do you do that?

M. Laitman: Within our desire, we can connect to the Creator and feel His will. Yes, this is how it happens. Try several times, and there will be more questions, than ask.

Question (Latin 11): (34:15) What is the, what's that state of one prayer that we need to attain towards the Convention?

M. Laitman: One prayer that we want to all be together, in one request, directed toward the one Creator, and that this will truly be our request. This is what we need.

Question (Turkiye 8): (35:02) How do we use the Convention in order to…Again, how can we like generate like a trigger that will drive us to evoke the Convention already now, not wait till then, but use it as a jumping board to where we have to go?

M. Laitman: The main thing we need to do at the Congress is connection of the deficiencies. The more I am concerned with all of my deficiencies being connected, directed, united with the deficiencies of the Ten, the closer we come to one another to being as one man with one heart. Accordingly, we will see the difference in the answer that we get from the Creator. I really hope this is what we are going to find out.

Student: What the friend intended is not to wait for the Convention, but already now create this effect that will kind of excel us, and awaken us, and drive us forward.

M. Laitman: To the extent that we are connecting now, we will feel how much we are connecting into that inner desire that we should be incorporated in.

Question (W Europe): (36:56) Can we say that the vessel is incorporated in a larger vessel, meaning the vessel of the Ten?

M. Laitman: Without a doubt, all the vessels are incorporated in one another.

Student: The place where I feel doesn't exist on its own, the Ten doesn't exist on its own, it needs to be incorporated somewhere?

M. Laitman: You don't decide what should or shouldn't be. Out of what you feel, you need to understand that this is what the Creator sends you and this is what you have to work with.

Question (W French 1): (37:44) During this Congress, there are many new friends that for the first time will be in a Ten. How can we include the desire of the new friends, in the best way to touch the prayer in the Congress?

M. Laitman: Try to be incorporated in one desire. One desire should emerge from the main Ten. And the rest are incorporated in it. And this is how you come to one desire as one man with one heart. That's it. We will talk about it at the Congress itself.

Question (Almaty): (39:02) The issue of the rubbing of the hearts, how does that go along with us having to annul ourselves? These seem to be two contradictory things. How to work it into the Ten?

M. Laitman: You can annul yourselves only if your will to receive demands some kind of fulfillment. By incorporating in the others, in your friends, it doesn't disturb one another. That's why, keep going together towards a state where you will move everything, everything that's disturbing between you, and whatever will be left between you is only the connection, only the connection between you. It's the only thing that needs to remain. Then you'll feel what that same upper vessel is in, that you attain as a result of that.

Question (W Rehovot 1): (40:33) What does it mean, one heart, one Creator? If each one understands the Creator differently, what does it mean to have one heart, one Creator?

M. Laitman: One desire. A heart is a desire.

Student: What is an answer from the Creator?

M. Laitman: An answer from the Creator - when it comes, you'll feel it.

Question (Ashkelon 2): (41:15) It says, the rubbing of the hearts. How do you do that?

M. Laitman: If we work with our hearts in order to cleanse them, connect them, and according to the Creator that we want to come closer in such a way, then we reach connection of the hearts and their connection with the Creator.

Student: Can I focus on something? The abrasion of the hearts, what is required of me? What do I need to do for the friends, which will be called the abrasion of the hearts, rubbing of the hearts?

M. Laitman: The rubbing of the friction between the hearts means that you want to get rid of all the egoistic tendencies you have. That's it.

Question (W PT 33): (42:29) I need to make sure not only that I feel my friends but also that each and every one of them feels everyone as well.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: The question is, what will help us maintain such a concern despite all the states the Creator sends, which drive us away from it?

M. Laitman: Just to keep going. That's what I'll tell you, only to keep going. Before you, there are still a few steps to take, that eventually you'll feel the whole world as one, one place.

Question (W PT 27): (43:37) The question is about connection between the Tens. When a certain Ten succeeds, manages to reach that state of oneness, of one heart, one desire, is that equivalence of form? That equivalence of form, does it happen between the Tens when they manage to reach that state, that connection between them and the Creator and then between those cells?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: Okay, so a follow-up question. When this structure of cells connected to the Creator begins to form, when they have the same form, the same direction, does any division begin to form according to roles where each Ten constitutes a certain aspect of that connection with the Creator?

M. Laitman: In that equivalence we all incorporate. We need to go through a few stages a few times, and then you'll feel as much as all of the desires are incorporated in that same state.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (44:53) Can you say that each Ten is a cell?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: What ties the cells together?

M. Laitman: Also a certain goal that includes them.

Student: But what glues them together?

M. Laitman: The goal, that we want let's say two groups, one to bestow to the Creator.

Student: So why aren't they a single group? Why doesn't it merge like water?

M. Laitman: We're speaking about it that gradually, through our work, we will all blend.

Student: And then?

M. Laitman: And then, let's say from all of Bnei Baruch, we get one group.

Student: So, why are there individuals there, or do those vanish?

M. Laitman: The individuals blend with one another and it disappears.

Question (Latin 1): (46:06) It appears that only when the Creator forces us into a corner without anywhere to run to, then we pray. But when we feel that everything is fine, the prayer loses its intensity. So, how can we advance without waiting for external pressure?

M. Laitman: You can't. The will to receive that is in the foundation of us, our foundation, it'll let us feel that we're drawn to the Creator - it won't let us feel that we're drawn to the Creator and want to adhere to Him. But gradually, from a lot of our actions, let's say every time 10% of each and every action goes into the right direction, to the right advancement.

Question (MAK 25): (47:20) Complete prayer is attained as a cry from the heart of the friends, or is it more general?

M. Laitman: It's a gradual process, because we don't know what the right true work is made of, of every group, of every Ten, of every person. That's why you just have to do maximum of the efforts when choosing the goal and attaining it.

Question (Revadim): (48:12) My question is the convention, which is on the subject of prayer. Once you said that we need to assemble, to compose a prayer in the Ten, five sentences long or so. Do you think this convention is an opportunity to compose that prayer, to author that prayer? Because right now we don't have it.

M. Laitman: Why? Why not? We're talking about it.

Student: Yes, but is it a good opportunity to scrutinize and build that prayer?

M. Laitman: Yes, yes, yes.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (48:59) You told the friend, that's what I heard, that the necessity was shattered. So, how did we go through the shattering and how will it make us ascend, so that we have some understanding of faith about reason? Can you elaborate on it so we can maintain it throughout the Congress?

M. Laitman: No, we're hearing about it and talking about it, and within a few minutes, within a few hours, you'll feel it too.

Question (W Spain 1): (49:42) How can we convert the friction and disagreement with our friends into connection and prayer, and it's not something that hinders us?

M. Laitman: That is through Rabash articles that we need to read and to try and implement them. And the more, and more, and more hours of the day and night that we'll want to open them and read about them, and in this way, we fill ourselves with those topics. That's how we will advance. Question (W Heb 1): (50:50) I heard in the beginning of the lesson you saying that we have to discover the true state where we are. So, if a person finds that he fears discovering the truth even though it's attractive, it pulls at him, what can we do with that fear so it doesn't hinder us? You can ask that the fear will disappear? What can we do?

M. Laitman: To connect with the friends and along with them to turn to the Creator. That's it.

Question (W PT 38): (51:36) I heard that one desire should emerge from one Ten and others are incorporated in it. Can you explain that?

M. Laitman: No, there's nothing to explain. You'll feel that as much as each one feels that he's a result of his Ten, the whole Ten is incorporated in him.

Question (H 3): (52:10) You told one of the friends that the friction between the hearts is meant to annul the ego. So, what exactly should we do with the ego, if we can be precise about that?

M. Laitman: Don't worry about what to do with the ego. You should worry about doing the right actions, spiritual ones, actions of bestowal and connection.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (52:51) How to feel the lack of the friend and the lack of the Ten?

M. Laitman: I need to be closer to them, nothing else to say. All right, what next?
