What Can Cure Life’s Traumas?
Itzik Saidyan, a 26-year-old disabled soldier, set himself on fire in front of the Israeli Ministry of Defence, Rehabilitation Department. This event has awakened public discourse and brought up awareness of those suffering from PTSD and other emotional trauma. Many of these people feel that they are invisible because their handicap cannot be seen.0 Question: Let us say that same person would meet you a few moments before he goes to set himself on fire. What would you say to him? Answer by Dr. Laitman: I would tell him that human life has a much greater purpose than what he can even imagine. Even when one finds oneself in this difficult state, eternal, whole, perfect, and joyous states can be reached. Question: Many people among us are suffering from trauma on one level or another. How can we act, as a society, to strengthen them and give them hope? Answer: We have no other choice but to learn how to approach and reach out to them, to listen and explain the process that a person must go through. In this way we can help them reach the truth. Question: What is the truth Dr. Laitman? Answer: The truth is that each one of us exists under the general plan of nature and every situation we go through, is all predetermined within it. If we can come to agree and discover the fact that this is how things are, this will give us great satisfaction. Question: Can one rise from this shattered rock bottom state? Answer: Yes, for the general correction of man brings him to a state where he rises above himself and is included in the perfection and harmony of nature. Question: What allows him to grasp eternity and perfection when he is at rock bottom? Answer: Precisely that this care and understanding, is all that one has left in order to prevent “being buried alive '' so as to heal these traumatic and post-traumatic situations. And in general, all events in a person's life can be changed because we all go through such traumas in life, with the reason being that everyone needs this to push us into changing. We only need to understand that the correct care is that we rise above our current nature to that of bestowal, love, and connection. Question: Is this the remedy for everything? Answer: There is no other remedy!

How to Live Together Without Killing Each Other
Hurting someone's self-respect can lead to bitter conflicts and even bloodshed. Why does a threat to self-respect tear a person from within? Like animals protecting their territory, we sense the world according to the felt boundaries. A threat to one’s self-respect hurts because of the innate knowledge that even the smallest and most insignificant person nonetheless has a place in the world. There's the saying, "Don't do to others what you hate." But is it even possible for people to live together, while everyone also wants to extend their boundaries and enter another’s turf? Yes, it is possible. It's all in a psychological change. Nature gives us both—the innate drive to expand our turf all the time and a psychological mechanism teaching us how to be successful together. So let's do the opposite: Make room for everyone and suddenly you would feel that everyone is making room for you. The entire world is yours. If, however, no one wants to budge a millimeter for the other person, then we all suffocate. The drive for self-respect alone takes us to the cemetery. What does it mean to make room for the other person? It is nothing special; it is sheer psychology. There's a kind of blindness that prevents us from rising above our ego. Once we apply “what’s mine is yours,” then we reach a state where the entire world is truly yours. Connection with others is the means for self-correction and for self-control in relation to others. We would then all feel that everyone is a close friend and everything is great. When we enter the right balance between us, then we reach balance with nature. In the state where people make room for each other, we respect the upper force, the force of nature—the desire to bestow, to love, from which everything was created. He is the king of the world. Because of Him I feel that I'm a king of the world and you feel like a king of the world, and she does, and he does. Yes, it happens to all of us but when we connect correctly with each other, then each of us also feels that the other person is king of the world, too. This is how we can reach a world that is utterly good.

Why Do We Lose the First Sensation of Love We Had in Childhood?
Our first love is a wonderful feeling. It totally overwhelms us, making us feel alive. But we usually don’t end up marrying our first love. It is as if we are tricked to receive a divine taste which is then taken away. This is in order to develop our feelings, especially regarding the special feeling of love. After losing our first love, we can then learn to work on ourselves in order to understand what love truly is and how to reach it. We can then add intellect to the original emotion of love that we had from childhood, before our hormones developed. Later on, we can discern how our initial feeling of love gave us a special sense of life. According to the wisdom of Kabbalah, the Creator grants us such a feeling in order to show us that the light of love is greater than anything else. We can bring this light into our lives by wanting to love the Creator, the upper force. Even in the form of the object of our first love, it was the Creator, the upper force, which shined upon us and it gave us that sensation of love. We have the opportunity to come to a much greater sense of love by thinking about the source of love from which we receive everything, including that first love. We have problems with thinking about the Creator as we cannot connect Him to the original juvenile love that we felt. All love comes from the same single source, and hate, the posterior of love, like the opposite side of a coin, also comes from the same source. The Creator sends us these emotions in order to develop us and become like Him. Becoming like Him means distinguishing between good and evil: to want only good and to reject evil. Love is good, and our original sensation of love is taken away from us in order to help us work toward achieving it by ourselves. The Creator is the force of nature related to natural development, and love is the lever of development. Instead of our original object of love, we now have to reach the love of everyone, of all humanity, nature and reality. By doing so, we acquire the greatest possible love, and everything will eventually reach such a sensation. Everything that happens to us ultimately comes to develop us to the discovery of the perfect and all-encompassing love that exists in reality.
