Talk 117

Talk December 24, 2012

Oren: Hello and thank you for joining us here for this "New Life" series. Hello Dr. Laitman. Hello everyone. Hello Nitzah Mazoz.

We're talking about the new working world. We're developing content and concepts based on the integral method. You're building a new world view for us, Dr. Laitman.

We’re talking about the corporations that we work with, the connections between us as individuals, as managers, as organizations, between countries, and any two objects that exist in reality. We want to take from the things you're saying here, the insights, and we want to apply them to our lives. We want to bring them into our lives, and we want to understand how to reach this new life. In this meeting today, we're in a course that is developing the integral awareness - the awareness that is needed for the new life. Come join us and let's listen together.

Rav: Let’s review what we completed in the previous two conversations. We talked about our ego, our will to receive, which is the material of creation that develops and builds everything we have before us and us as well. Of course, a human being is the most developed part of this, and he developed through many years, millions, billions of years on Earth. We also spoke about all of nature which we can divide into inanimate, vegetative, animate, and human. The difference between each and every form is in their quality of the desire, even to the extent of the difference between birds, and colors, and animals, and plants, and various minerals, and people that we see: yellow, red, black, and so on. All this is the difference in the desire between them, which is the basis of all the differences, and this desire builds its external shape in all sorts of identifiable. If we understood it, we would look at a person - there are people that according to the faces, the hands, and all kinds of things, can identify those people in an internal manner - we could really know according to the external signs, and we would see right to the desire itself, which is the foundation of a person, not just his character and behavior, etc.

In other words, we see that the material of creation is the desire to receive, and it is characteristic of each and every one of us. It's personal, and we shouldn't touch it, because in that, we are corrupting the personal possession, the asset of each person. We mustn't cause a person to want to limit himself or the opposite. What we are actually talking about is his desire as his personal asset, and we're talking about a person as a free creature, and democracy, everything that we think about in the modern world and of the modern man. We need to understand from this that actually, what we're doing in education, what we're doing in the media is violating people; we are ruining them. We're not allowing them to develop in a manner where everyone can express themselves, his significance, his essence, and reach what he is. Rather we’re actually, by the fact that we're not aware how much each and every person is special in his desire, at its foundation, we're actually causing people real grief, where instead, we could get a lot more benefit from people if they would develop, where each person could be like a flower and discover his uniqueness.

5:32

This is something that we'll have to get to know in our development and correct in the future, and we will reach it. We are developing and making lots of mistakes along the way. Our education for kids should not repress them, it needs to be more friendly, with explanations. We should give a child the ability to understand, to discuss, to talk.

The education issues we'll address separately, but first, the will to receive, our main desire. We spoke that we are developing, but not that nature is developing us from inanimate, vegetative, animate, and human, but also that humans continue to develop in inanimate, vegetative, animate, and human which is in man. These are the stages of our development. I also spoke that it's divided into historical periods throughout our history. We used to develop the inanimate in a man, the vegetative in a man, the animate in a man, and in the latest period, it’s the human in the human.

And apparently we are reaching this development, but we still have not reached it. Why? This is exactly what we spoke about - the lack of proper development, the lack of correct education for a person, because to develop a human in a man, we need to give him freedom. We have to develop the human that's in him, the unique personal part that we can develop. Just like with a plant, we need to know what to add to it, what kind of fertilizer, what kind of air, what kind of humidity, warmth, what kind of sunlight, from what direction, what time of day; we need to know these things. The problem is that we don't know who man is. Not the external person, since that person that we see is at the animate level, but the human that is inside a human. It is an internal thing, inside, and that's what we don't know. We spoke about it a bit. The problem is that the psychology that we're learning cannot really help us, because it's not science. We don't know about man because to know about man, about the psychology, our psychology, our character, inclinations, special characteristics of each person, we need to be at a higher level than humans. Just like we learn about inanimate, vegetative, animate, human, that humans are above them. Like an animal, a pet, we know they can't hide themselves from us, because they don't have a brain like that. But a man, we can't learn, because we're at the same level, and we can't do any work on him from above, any research. And if we do it, it's based on statistics; it's not science. It's not genuine science. That's why psychology has been in a crisis for many years as well. When we see a person in our world, in our state, we see that he is not capable. We can't really check who he is, what he is. We’re learning at least about what's happening in the world - to match yourself to the external world. How can we be happy? So we see that at the end of the day, we've reached a crisis, but we don't understand what's happening. If we're talking about the state of humanity, we see that at one time cities and countries used to be in conflict, and perhaps Russia and America until recently were in conflict, then Russia fell, and now America is falling. The world is seemingly getting a form that's not clear to us; there's no power managing the world. We see the world is becoming a round shape, where everyone is at the same level of importance with same level of integration and connection between them. The world is becoming round, and people as well, they too are acquiring a round form more and more. There are no masters and no slaves, there is no difference if you're black or if you're white, if you're European or Asian; everything is getting mixed up. In regards to culture and education, we have the same junk food, the same Coke, same habits more or less, music. It's all floating from one place to another, with cell phones and internet connecting the whole world. In 20 years we're all completely in something. We have no taste, we have no desire to go anywhere, because through the internet, we know about all the places and thus have no urge. What else can be seen that would be something new? The world is becoming something very close, but people actually are not. And here we see that for us, it is hard to get by in the world, but the crisis that we see is beginning to do its work on us. It is beginning to bring us closer to one another, because we are starting to feel as if all of us are in one boat.

I can already see the upcoming stages. People won't have money for gas, they won't be able to maintain their cars. We’re going back to public transportation. I don't have the ability to buy all kinds of things I need around the house, like a drill for example. All kinds of things that I only need once in a while, once every half a year or so, or not even every year, I can instead maybe borrow from a neighbor or perhaps from some place that rents these things. In other words, there are results from the crisis, from us all reducing our assets, which will bring us, whether we like it or not, to connect between us. Similarly with housing, we used to live alone with each person in their own apartment, and didn't want anyone to touch him. Today, we see that kids that ran away from their parents’ homes are coming back, because it's hard for them to support themselves; there's not a lot of work. We can't just go wild like we used to, and so on. In other words, what the brain doesn't do, life does, time does and takes care of. There are many things like that that I see how nature is actually arranging us the way it wants, and not the way we want according to our ego.

Despite our ego, through pressure and all kinds of small sufferings that people feel, we run away from these blows, from these sufferings, and we are willing to compromise on a lot of things that are already becoming inconvenient. If I need to pay for my apartment, and in that I will have to limit myself, then I feel that it's more convenient to live at home with my mother, so I go back to her. And if I can no longer maintain a car by myself, then I share with my friend, with my neighbor, we take turns. Yes, it is already happening, and it will happen more and more. I am describing a trend. But if we are talking about the world that is actually getting rounder, about the fact that nature is forming us into a round shape where we will get into harmony and connection with nature, and we'll acquire the same form as it, this really works in opposition to our egoistic desire to receive. Here, we have to help a person to prepare himself or herself so that it'll be easier to accept all these changes that we have to accept. We are going to see organizations feeling more of a connection between them. What used to be competition, there will be a loss of taste for competition. They will see that it is worthwhile for us to be connected, some kind of unity. We’ll see how in the world, there is a tendency similar to what happened in Europe. There is an tendency among people to form agreements between them; it's more worth it, it's more convenient. Like people who have less means are willing to connect between them, since it will be easier to achieve a better standard of living. This is how countries operate, they combine their resources and at the end of the day, reach great savings. At this point, we need to speak about the change inside a person. A person in the modern world, despite developing over the last hundred years to be an individual in his or her personal form, now is faced with the opposite, is now having to receive the opposite form of being friendly to others. Here is where we have to educate a person, and this kind of education can only come from the environment. Just like we received in our childhood. We received development from the environment, from our nursery school, and now we need to also receive the new development. Although we are not small anymore, we still need to get it from the new environment. We need to build it. We need to arrange it at home, through the media, in everything.

When we went against the connection, we started divorcing, didn't want to make a family, to be connected to one another, so everyone became just special by himself. Now we are increasingly seeing ourselves precisely committed to being closer to one another; therefore, the influence of the environment has to be closer to that too, friendlier. In other words, we have to organize a new education for all of us and learn a basic necessity is to be connected, to be surrounded by good influences, and generosity between all of us. Because through this, we awaken positive forces in society. We can save a lot. We know that even though we work very hard, there's surplus in one place and a deficit in another place, where people are even dying of starvation.

We know that through not being able to consider one another, we have extravagance of assets. Some people have so much extra that they don't know what to do with what they have, and they don't even appreciate what they have, while other people are really suffering from a lack of basic necessities. But nature, in the meantime, is closing in on us more and more within our interdependence. So, if we more or less create the form of life that is agreed upon by everyone, from that we will all benefit. We need to understand that in a state where there's so much armament in the world, there's already no point in continuously developing it any more. It's like we worked on this crisis. I make this cup, and I build a fault into it so that after half a year, it breaks and you'll need to buy another cup in another half a year, and another half year; there's a limit to these things. We filled our warehouses with ammunition, with weapons that can destroy the world a few times over. So if we minimize these things, of course we will all benefit.

Nature is forcing us through our development which is bringing us to a crisis. It is actually similar to us forcing individuals and also whole countries to begin thinking about minimizing weapons, because 50 or 60% (they say 20 or 30% but usually it's much more) go toward war, go to the army. So humanity has no choice, except through these blows that we're feeling from the crisis, to begin to understand that we must acquire a new paradigm. And in this new paradigm, the main thing is what the person is composed of. Not to destroy his ego, but rather teach him how we use this ego correctly in the correct connection between us. As we discussed here, this is only by means of a correct environment, just like we got educated when we were little, this is what we need to receive now.

We know how much the environment works on us through the media, through our relatives, and through the people we know. So if we're talking in this way, let's now understand what we're here to discuss now.

We want to create new relations at work. Even though you might feel in your workplace that you're different, that there are people with a different political education, that there are those who are generally very, very different, we're not even going to be dealing with this. We're not going to change anything in a person, but rather we're learning how, despite all the differences, how to be in a proper connection. That is actually our goal. Therefore, what we need is to reach a point of dialogue, conversations, to reach a place where everyone can talk to others, to accept the other in a simple manner, and without holding that rock and knife behind our back. First of all, we're also human beings. Everyone is allowed to have a different opinion, everyone is allowed to think something else about someone else, because it's in our nature. We need to respect it. But what we're learning, we're learning how to connect. And more than connecting, we will learn how much we're dependent on each other, even to the point where we exist in the space between us. We will also really see it in unity, in mutual responsibility as reflected in nature.

If I do something, it determines what will happen with you, and when you do something even marginal, it defines what will happen with me. This is called that we are dependent, we are in mutual responsibility, because if we do good things, everyone will be better off. If we do bad things, it’s the same. We're discovering now, through all kinds of research, how much there's a connection between people, not just between the trees and animals, nature, the butterfly effect and all these things, but we are talking about the tight connection between human beings, our thoughts, our desires. I'm not even talking about how much we can physically really influence one another. Therefore, what we're learning here is a connection above all the differences that don't even relate to that. We want to be connected to each other in such a way that what I have, the way I look at life, at politics, that I am different from everyone, and I want to remain different, and you and everyone else too. This is what's special about our work here with you. We're getting into work that is called workshops, in which we'll learn how to speak to one another, how to accept the new world, the integral global new world, that not according to our desire but it's coming to us by force and obligating us to also be in the same integral global shape. It's like if you have a round aquarium, the fish have to be in that round. If we don't do it ourselves and we're unprepared, then nature will do all kinds of exercises with us that will cost us more. We're also doing it because by creating a correct connection between us, we will reach better results in our work and will also have better relationships, not only between us, but also between us and the managers, and we'll all benefit from it. Therefore, we need to talk to you about procedures, our procedures, the new procedures during workshops. What do you have, what do you think?

Nitzah: I just remembered how we ended the previous show. You left us in a very dramatic point. The point where you said we've reached a dead end, and actually who is in a crisis right now? It's the desire, and there's not many options, only two options. You left us hanging like a thriller on a cliff; you don't see lots of options down below, there’s nothing. You look down or do you do something; it's not clear. So maybe from this point you'll continue to lead us because we've really reached a very dramatic point. It's an understanding in a person that there's nowhere to go. And you started the discussion today by saying that our greatest asset is actually desire, but what are we doing? We're always only investing in our external assets. What is nature doing? It's basically taking our external assets and forcing us to come inward and invest in our inner assets. This is like a summary that I gathered from what you explained today. And you also spoke about the subject of the environment. You gave a very small explanation that nature, to develop and grow the plant, it has to be fertilized etc. In other words, we have to create conditions in the environment that will allow it to continue to develop. It is the same with us. The place we've reached is the place where nature no longer gives us the urge to develop in that direction. It stopped, and we people have to learn to build our environment, to create conditions in the environment that will help us develop this inner asset that we have, which today is really in complete opposition to what nature actually wants. It's operating in one direction, and we're operating in another direction. It wants us to connect. So the first real question is, if you are going to build an environment - as if I'm missing some information - how do I build an environment without understanding my nature to the end? From this explanation, I realize that I do the opposite: I'm trying to be separate, I'm trying to be outside, and nature is always trying to connect, unite. Now, while using my old brain which has no other development, I need to understand that I need to build some environment, to arrange some conditions in the organization or society that will help me as an individual to develop. It's like I'm missing information.

Rav: You're not missing, I'll tell you why. First of all, from the side of nature, I don't have a mother and father who will develop me onward in the nursery, in school like I developed as a child. From the side of nature, I don't have an environment that can be an influence on me and give me new habits. I don't, I don't have that on the one hand. On the other hand, nature is pressuring us and demanding that we change. We know how to do it. We’ve already built media and all kinds of influences on people through the environment. We need to educate ourselves on our own. We need to create conditions that we will get into which will then influence us. That's called the influence of the environment on a person.

Nitzah: What else do we need to know to build our environment? I'll give you an example.

One of the things that's happening today already in organizations is that there's a list of values, all the values that we're mentioning, they're on the list there very nicely. They’re building a vision, transparency, collaboration, consideration; all these wonderful things are there.

Rav: Inside the organization? They're on the wall, not in the heart.

Nitzah: In other words, everyone knows in their head what has to happen.

Rav: Then it's easier for us. So we come and implement it. So they've done half the work.

Nitzah: So I can tell you that the situation within organizations is that they know what's right. They know that it's worth it to have that. The problem, the main problem where the crisis lies, is that they don't manage to implement the values. They can't actualize them in reality. Even to the point where it becomes treated like it's pathetic, it turns into a joke, it's fake.

Rav: Just like all the ethics.

Nitzah: This gap is a huge gap between what's correct and what's actually happening. The greatest question is, really, how do we help everyone: the managers, the workers, all the executives. How do we help them implement these values?

Rav: So maybe we don't need what we spoke of up to now. We come them, we look at this nice list they have, the vision that they have, and we take upon ourselves the responsibility to implement it. Actually, in reality. So they did all the preparation for us, you could say.

Nitzah: And it's true, all the preparation exists.

Rav: So it's simple. Why do we need all of these 10 lectures, 2 hour lectures each time with everyone sitting? They understand, they don't, they fall asleep.

Nitzah: I think everything you gave us up until now is very important in my opinion for the executives. And why? Because the executives, especially the big ones, the CEO's, they see themselves as leaders. What's a leader? Someone that has a vision, has the ability to bring about change. He doesn't just work based on procedures. He has a wider perspective, he understands where he's coming from, where he wants to go to, and he wants to march his people forward. That’s precisely why I think it would be very interesting. Maybe we won't give a lecture about it to the general workers, but I think it's very interesting for the executive level.

Rav: Good. But actually with the regular workers, we work in a simple manner. We understand that for the good of society, and also good for them, to be in a good relations between them, and apart from that, the managers agree with this, and that's why we implement it. So we just need to explain to them our method of treatment. How we treat ourselves with ourselves. How we present ourselves nice, friendly people, smiling so that we are accepted everywhere in a nice way: Social Security, bank, post office, wherever I go, and to the authorities, I will reflect around me an atmosphere where people are smiling in front of me wherever I go. People want me to come, “How can we help you?” etc.

We need to sell them some tips about how we become people, and it's possible that I who am in every place, with all people, it's pleasant for them, it's convenient for them, they're drawn to me, and they really feel good next to me. When I'm next to them, they feel that I'm not taking their place. When I'm next to them, they feel from me convenience, warmth, beauty, something that's pleasant, and they don't want to part. These are things that are good for us to learn. The things that we really need to demonstrate are that a person is good in life, everywhere, here, and abroad. You don't need to speak about it. You don't need language, but your inner state is working around you with this radiation, that's what people feel from you. I don't even want to talk about animals. Even pets will feel it.

So let's learn. At the end of the day, it helps us to control, in a nice, easy way, not to take advantage of, how to control others with our good relation to them. We can calm things down lots of situations that break out; we can do lots of things. So for that, we need to know how a person changes. From a regular average person, egoistic person, very closed and individualistic, how he can rise above himself that he stays in it still, but rises above it, and becomes a person that belongs to everyone. Through this, you feel him very close, and in that, he'll also be closer to the environment and to nature, and from that can save and gain a lot. We know that these people, people that know how to radiate a good feeling around them, can be great sales people in stores, can be managers, and wherever there's work with people, they're very needed. So we gain the greatest profession truly in our lives. In a world that is not so connected, you get it for free.

How do we learn? We learn it by mutual learning. We don't have anyone to learn from. We don't have an environment that is so corrected, that there's like some village where all the people are these good hearted nice people, all are really radiating some warmth to one another, and if we come there, we improve. I don't think we'd be very impressed by that, because there's nothing good in it. We are serious normal people, modern, everyone understands who he is, where he is, don't touch me and don't come inside me, I'm me, you're you, but we learn how above that to connect with one another. So that God forbid there shouldn't be some concern that we're coming to change something; rather, if you want to be good and want to be accepted everywhere, you will be able to work this way. At work, this is what people want to see from us at the workplace.

44:14

So how do we do it? We need to talk. So again we explain to them all kinds of procedures and the workshop. The people who sit down in a circle: six, seven, eight or ten people. Not more than ten, because it's too much, and not less than five, approximately. They talk amongst themselves. It should be eight or ten people, like eight people. We talk between us. First of all, there should be someone managing things. Say we have 40 people, we’ll divide 40 into five groups. We’ll sit down, and we'll begin to explain to them. Let’s talk about man's nature, how much he is egoistic, how much a person is always thinking of himself, and how much his nature is opposite from the animate nature. Talk with them about the vegetative, animate, and inanimate, that they're not doing anything bad, they're just eating all they need, and they're not purposely harming anyone else.

But a person, apart from the fact that he's nurtured from everyone, from morning until evening he's also thinking about how to rise above others in happiness, respect, control, and this actually is what's eating him up all the time. That’s what’s driving him and everything he does. Afterward, we'll talk about how much a person is influenced by everyone, that we can inject into ourselves all kinds of rumors, advertising, habits, and inclination to things that truly damage us, but we take it and do it. Why? Because that's what everyone else is doing, and thinking, and saying. I don't even control what's good for me and what's bad for me. The environment controls me, to the extent that I'm weak, and the environment is bad. I can be around criminals, and they can make me a criminal. The extent that I'm dependent on the environment, I have nothing in my character.

Let's talk about what is there in me? I was born with characteristics that I got from my parents. Afterwards, I got all kinds of impressions, values from nursery school, school, from the media, and that's who I am now. What is there in me? Also my way of thinking, how I look at things, how I compare things, is it me? There are all kinds of inputs that aren't me, and also software according to what ethics to analyze everything. So am I an independent person? No. What am I even fighting for? To remain myself. How do we even waste our lives, on what? On me having to look better to other people. It’s someplace where they'll see me once, they will look at me with respect, with appreciation, for this mystical moment that could maybe happen at some point, for this I'm willing to work my whole life, my whole life. I'm imagining to myself, but they'll look at me like this and it's something. Then I work, I work very hard, and it won't happen. But I'm working for that.

In other words, I sacrifice my life, time that I can't get back, only to fill myself with all kinds of fillings that are not mine, and all kinds of lacks that are not mine, but I receive them. I am truly a slave, a slave of the environment. I don't even know myself. I don't know who I am, there's no such thing. There’s no such term, “me,” because I am the animate, and everything else that's called the human in me, they made. It's passed down to me, and it's from the environment. Other subjects like this: who's the modern man, how society influences us, how we're all dependent on one another. These are subjects for dialogue inside these circles.

The main thing is to allow them to speak. What we're demanding of them is to try to accept everyone with respect, and to try not to think against the other person, because each of us can see who we are, what we are. Each of us that hears the other must first try to get inside his head, inside his heart, to try to flow with him, and then, with the 2nd or 3rd. Everyone’s talking for approximately two minutes, we’re checking with our clock, we're not just letting people talk as much as they feel like. Then each person hears everyone and flows with them as if he's talking correctly. I cancel my ego, and I want to agree with a person, not just to say yes, yes. I'm really, really trying to be with him as if I don't have an opposite opinion. It's an exercise to start working with myself to be flexible. For what? Because with that, we'll be able to understand the other. If I want to be a good salesperson, then I have to hear the other person and understand him, so that afterwards, I can get into him and maybe manipulate him. It’s worth it for me to do it. It’s worth it for me to learn how I ignore who I am, go into another person, and acquire who he is.

These exercises are very necessary for the connection between people, for good or for worse, to use it later, we'll see. The way we connect to one another, and we hear people in our circle, I look at everyone, I have my own opinion, whatever they think, they think. He may be smarter, but I am doing something else, etc. Everyone holds themselves that they have something special about them, and it's true. We talked about the fact that each of us has uniqueness in us which we received from nature. Everyone is truly special. Afterward, we were given all kinds of bonuses. So if this is the case, I have to respect the other, each and every person talking, I'm looking at him and thinking, "he's special, there's no one else in the world that looks like him." And then I seriously need to look at him like that. For example, a woman is talking, I'm looking at her, and I understand, and feel, and think that what I'm hearing from her, how she feels, how she is expressing herself, there is truly no one else who could possibly be capable of expressing things in that manner.

We now begin to understand that's it's possible to get into the woman, and know them, and flow through them, to get inside them. There’s an entire world in there. I can be with them. I can begin to see that this one thinks that and that one thinks this. It’s as if I'm inside a person. That's on the one hand. On the other hand, in that I don't cancel what I have inside, I just learn how in order to cancel myself, because if I don't cancel myself, then I won't hear him. And afterwards, we need to learn about the connection between us, that everyone is integrated in the other who is willing to sacrifice himself, and everyone says to everyone his opinion from above, so then also from above and below, everyone will be facing the others. So let's start an exercise where we all want to be connected. We've been hearing lately that there is a special effect of the wisdom of the people. The connection between people has some special ability to foresee things, to decide things in advance, and to reach the correct decisions. Maybe between us we'll be able to build such relations where we'll create conditions for solutions, a connection where each of us alone is not capable of reaching. Then we will begin to connect between us in a manner where every person will want to be connected to others, I to you, and you to me, etc. We’ll try to reach a state where between us, we'll feel a common desire and common mind between everyone. This we will need to develop.

Oren: I'm sorry to say our time is up for this conversation, and I hope the next conversation will start exactly from this point, how to develop this common desire that we all have. Thank you very much Rav Laitman, thank you Nitzah, until next time, all the best.

(End of the conversation)
