Part 2:

Baal HaSulam. Foreword to The Book of Zohar. #34

Reading Item 34: (00:20) "Let it not surprise you…"

1. R. (03:44) Ok, clear? Meaning obviously we don't reveal on our own that it's like that but we can agree that that is the way our force of vision is set up for us.

2. S. (04:14) According to what he writes here, what's the difference between corporeality and spirituality?

R. For now there's no spirituality here, he is explaining how we reveal where there is, what we get through our sense of vision.

S. Are there things where a person has some internal discernments, maybe through the group, the friends, something he sees in front of him, physically. What's the difference between them?

R. That he feels in the connection with his friends that's his inner feeling. What he reveals in his eyes is his perception on the outside.

S. What determines what is here and what is there?

R. No, what he explains here is our vision that has nothing to do with spirituality, that's how it is in corporeality, that's how we review things, that's how we perceive them.

3. S. (05:28) What happens when we perceive something, what is within us?

R. What do you mean?

S. I see something and it is all inside of me. What is this thing that is inside of me?

R. Everything, everything is inside of you and according to your eyes you can see part of it that is supposedly outside of you before you.

S. What happens with something new that I never noticed before and now I do?

R. So now you do because in your brain you have in the same system that reveals something to you, that you supposedly see so there are new discernments there.

S. What is the connection to the form that is clothed? Is it connected to what we learned about form clothed in matter, that the light came and it contains all the forms and all of a sudden some single form clothes on the matter which is in me? How does it…?

R. No, no nothing comes and expands but you in your studies and your qualities, you reveal these new qualities that are in you.,

S. The brain or the mind is like a library that organizes these things and that's it?

R. Yes and then you see what's in your brain.

4. S. (07:24) To continue the friend's question, if I see something outside of me which is actually inside of me, so outside of me I see there's a mountain or a tree. What are they inside of me?

R. You don't have something that exists on the outside or the outside but you discover what you have and is all being revealed now.

S. What's the matter that is being revealed? On the outside I see something solid or liquid but what is it inside? What form does it take inside?

R. The form that you discover.

S. What kind of matter is it inside?

R. The matter of thought.

S. How does the matter of thought become matter on the outside?

R. On the outside it's the still, vegetative, animate, and speaking inside of you it is whatever is in your brain.

S. Where does the transition happen?

R. There's no transition. There is no transition, that is how you reveal it.

S. In other words, two levels of matter remain, one in the thought and one external in the still vegetative, animate, and speaking?

R. Yes.

S. How does one influence the other or is there no influence?

R. No, there's a connection between them towards man. Man attaining there is a connection.

S. In the communication between us, how does this external thing that both of us see, how is it expressed?

R. Here you are already speaking about a different kind of perception. If we bestow or influence one another whatever everyone feels on their own vessels so it depends on what degree and what state the other is.

S. In terms of that inner matter and not the outer matter.

R. Yes.

S. What is the role of the external matter?

R. That external matter helps us reach inner discernments that are similar to one another.

S. In other words, we don't have a common denominator that is internal we begin from an external common denominator and the inner matter somehow becomes equal as well?

R. Yes.

5. S. (10:26) He writes that every person with common sense knows, every reasonable person knows, that all that we see is within our brains. Neurologists really said that this is so, it's not like they can prove it, but they know this is how it happens but within the brain itself it also doesn't exist. It comes to the brain from somewhere. How does it come to the brain? The picture that a person sees and feels, where does it come from?

R. Where does it come from? From the Creator, from the Creator that includes all forms.

S. In other words, a person is in this three-dimensional movie until he…?

R. Until he reveals the truth.

Reading Item #35: (11:35) " Since these matters are at the core of the world…."

6. S. (16:48) He writes, even this image which we call Sefira Malchut it is not in its place but only the light of Malchut coming down and spreading over the created beings and then it appears to each of them according to their own imagination.

R. That is called we attain Malchut.

S. The light of Malchut is Malchut of Ein Sof?

R. No, from the ten Sefirot.

S. Yesterday, if I understood correctly we said there are two Malchuts, Malchut of Ein Sof and Malchut after the restriction in this world, so is this the depiction?

R. Yes.

7. S. (17:45) Why our whole perception is in ZAT of Bina meaning in Yeshsut?

R. Because only from there and below the receiver starts appearing.

S. Why in order to attain the smallest thing in this wondrous wisdom do we need a teacher at the level such as yours?

R. There are conditions to whoever can understand what's going on and what is written.

8. S. (18:42) I didn't understand. The receivers, the created beings, when they go through the light of Malchut they don't feel that it’s them? They feel like it’s something outside of them?

R. They feel that it is external of them, yes.

S. So?

R. That they feel themselves that they attain it.

S. They themselves, is that not Malchut?

R. No.

S. No, so what are they? They're only ten Sefiort. A person, I don't know what to call it, this dot that observes and experiences all those ten Sefirot seemingly outside of it, what is it?

R. I still can't express this but it's not just the Malchut. I would say that it is Malchut that is connected to Bina and to Keter, meaning there is an ascent from Malchut through Bina to Keter. That is what we eventually attain.

S. We attain ourselves as what?

R. We attain ourselves as part of Malchut that is adhered to Bina.

S. From what you say it sounds like it's both, without understanding what you are saying. I am both part of Malchut and I also experience it as outside of me?

R. Well yes.
