Part 2

Baal HaSulam. The Love of God and the Love of Man (Why Was the Torah Given to Israel?)

1 R. (00:18) So, if it is a science that speaks about the role of the whole world and all of reality; how everything revolves and needs to be revealed all and how all the nations of the world need to enter this. Each and everyone’s destiny, personally, depends on this, and on nations on the general world of every nation and all of humanity. So why was it given to a tiny, little part of humanity that is really redundant? That is not understood, and also according to the source, that part was a collection of people who are strangers among themselves that connected in Babylon under the influence of Abraham that was an idol worshiper; and afterwards, it went on to this one force, what he is saying here is not clear. Suddenly, by coincidence, it happened or maybe it had some guidance from above. There are a lot of questions about this, we cannot just let go of this part and leave it on the side like everybody leaves this matter in the side. We want to research this all the way with all the questions that come up.

Reading twice (02:13) twice

2. R. (05:19) The headline: Why Was the Torah Given to Israel? Meaning, why is there a group from within all of humanity, in what are they unique, why, specifically, were they chosen that they were given a method how to correct all of the human race and bring it to the degree of equivalence of form with all of creation? In all of the creation, we did not see, we do not understand it, we are speaking about the spiritual system.

Reading: (05:51) “Now we can answer the question…”.

3. R. (06:44) So that is clear that you can’t bring these things to the nature of all nations of the world that they can advance; also, we need to learn about all the humans system of humanity, how it is divided into 70 parts because it's against the Guf of their Partzuf, the Partzuf of Neshama, which is the seven Sefirot: Chesed, Gevura, Tifferet, Netzach, Hod, Yesod, and Malchut each one included from ten so you get seventy. That is why we need to know that the correction of the world is the correction of all these seventy nations and to bring them to a state that “as He is merciful, so are you merciful”. Meaning to bring all those parts to the form of bestowal, all those desires that are in all of humanity. This is the problem: on one hand, it is the desire that is in some kind of body, and there's probably some kind of collision between the desire working in the body and the body they where they desire is working. So what should we organize here? What should we reach?

Reader continues: (08:13)  “And from their ancestor’s merit….”

4. R. (08:58) We talked about it many times; it is not a nation in its own right. it's not considered to be one of the nations but from all the nations, it's a collection of people who felt themselves, that they are drawn to the revelation of the upper force because in every nation there is. Let’s say, the Keter, the point of the Keter. That is why when they connected those people, when they fell from each and every nation that they are drawn to reveal the essence of development, of human development so they connected together, and from that the group became called the Israeli nation, the group. Israel is Yashar El, aimed straight to the Creator.

Reader continues: (09:50)However by this the Israeli Nation….”

5. S. (10:33) Why Israel is considered to be the middle point between the Creator and the creatures? Why was it given this role?

R. Israel does not exist, there is the Creator and the seventy nations but from all those seventy nations, that's how it wants to begin with. Seventy branches from the upper force that in the will to receive those seventy branches developed. When they developed, they also have higher points that are drawn to the roots and that longing to the root is called Yashar El, straight to the Creator. That's why it turns out that from all the nations in the world, that they were all in Babylon. So by a bigger system, we’ll learn it at one point, so all of those who are in this feeling of a tendency towards the Creator they also felt the tendency to what Abraham was speaking about in Babylon. That is why he gathered them, he was a priest, he belonged to the spiritual part of Babylon, and he started explaining what the duty of man in the world is and they connected to him; and they called that group also Israel, Yashar El, that is what he gave them, that name. From that, the whole matter started, and he explained to them that the correction of the world is that we all will reveal the connections between us and from that we will discover our connection to the Creator. That is what has to be and from that the world will become to the desired connection that we will all connect to the upper force, to the Creator.

6. S. (13:14) This force of Messiah that teaches the whole world, why is it not Israel that teaches the world?

R. No, Israel is not a Messiah, Messiah is a force that comes through us from the Sefirot: Keter, Hochma, Bina called Rosh. And Israel is the part of the Guf, the will to receive, that feels the influence of the Rosh on it, and it is drawn back to the Rosh, that's why Israel is called Isra-el, Li Rosh. But Messiah is the force that comes from the Rosh to the Guf, and Israel is the force that awakens from the Guf to the Rosh.

7. S. (14:15) What does it mean that “the rest of the nation’s balance the scale to merit and then the Messiah will reveal Himself”?

R. Israel are just a passage, a conduit to the world passing them the method of correction but the correction has to take place in everybody because all-in-all there is a passage here, there is what we learn in a spiritual system, a line, and a circle. So each and every nation is like a circle and what has to come to it, the upper influence is through the line. The line means those Sefirot like in a circle but when they are connected between them in order to bestow then on one hand they are in the circle, on the other hand, they are connected to the Rosh. So they can be a passage from the Rosh to the Guf, so Israel is the passage from Rosh to Guf. That's why from Israel comes to the world all that's upper influence, that bestowal. And the world according to that has to organize and connect between them in a nice, good connection, and then they will get this upper influence in it and this influence will connect them all together. Then they’ll organize according to the spiritual system and everything in the Rosh will expand through the line to the Guf.

S. When the Messiah will reveal Himself, He will be identified by Israel and by the nations?

R. Of course, the Messiah is that upper light that brings everyone knowledge about the purpose of creation, the plan of creation, and gives everyone the forces to perform that correction. That is called Messiah, Mashiach, from the word “holds”, “draws”. Takes them out of all of humanity from in order to receive to the degree of bestowal.

8. S. (17:19) How practically can we communicate what is in us, in our group, in our inner work to all the residents of the world?

R. We can pass this through two channels: one is a spiritual learning way that we teach and that we also perform these things, and we are connected to the whole world, and that is why this is the whole world gets something of our force of connection, on one hand. On the other hand, it is through them publishing and the whole world starts getting closer and yearning in some way. Like we were saying today, too, that by those steps that the world is taking to advance and feeling problems and feeling a lack of understanding, it is revealed to the world more and more as much as they can’t be corrected and suitable to this system of reality, the general system of reality. that also nature is revealed as round, circular, enclosed, and we aren’t. Humanity reveals itself as something opposite from all of nature, what can you do? According to that, we are the main part of nature, the most developed and also the most damaged. That's why we have to learn how we can reach that resemblance, which is what humanity is discovering more and more now because humanity, the most developed part on earth, look what they are doing? Look what this part is doing? It’s destroying itself and the entire Earth completely shooting into itself, there is no reason in this, but this is how it happens.

9. S. (19:42) Israel is cleansed by the Torah but we say the Torah is whole?

R. The Torah is whole because it includes the lights and the vessels inside that descend from the Creator to the created beings. That is why we call all of this Torah has Taamim Nekudot and the lights that fill all those vessels to receive and the way that we discover the lights and vessels, how we can climb upon them to the highest degree, which is the Creator.

10. S. (20:49) I would like to ask about recommendations you gave about every hour to make a connection for five minutes. We tried it for a few weeks, and we were, indeed, floating for a while but for part of us, it detached us from our work and the meetings of half an hour during the day became less deep, so how to make it more effective?

R. The thing isn't as much as you connect between you, but the thing is that you don't separate, you try not to separate. Even if I work at my job and I am completely disconnected, completely disconnected from a group in my work, in my business, but I feel that they are with me, that I am with them, that we are together. Each one, whatever they are in their own business, but we are all together drawn to the same goal, even throughout the day for 24 hours, which is what is important. So it's not the matter of connecting every hour and reading excerpts, it's the matter of constantly holding the connection between us, so what should we do in order for that to happen? Speak about it, think about it, don't decide right away and then you will see. Obviously, we’ll need to,  every time, change our approach: the way we meet, all kinds of forms because man gets used to it and habits take the flavors out. We have no choice; we need for that reason to understand our nature and try to go against it.

11. S. (23:46) With Israel, it’s what we said before it’s a question that keeps coming back. In the Introduction to the Book of Zohar, he defines Israel as ‘the seed of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob’, so is the soul of Adam HaRishon, is there just the part of it called, like what you said now, that the throat, the transition between the Kedusha to the rest?

R. I don't want to get into all of this now, it will gradually be clarified, gradually it will be clarified.

S. Because it's a question that keeps being asked but it’s like there is no answer?

R. So for now there is no answer. Instead of going and scrutinizing deeper and confusing everybody, I’d rather say that. I do not like scholars, a person needs to take the thing that he can attain, what will remain in him as light for his way and not for his brain.

12. S. (25:11)  Baal HaSulam writes to us that “from their ancestral merit they succeed”. What is the ancestral merit we have?

R. “ Merit” or [Hebrew word] comes from the word “refined” or “pure”, so they get vessels from the higher degree from the Rosh, and Israel is called “Li Rosh”, “my head”, that they are drawn to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, which are three discernments that put the Rosh together; and that is what is before them in order to receive the upper light and start working with it.

13. S. (25:59) The article is “The Love of God and the Love of man” but ultimately he comes to Arvut at the end. Why both Arvut and love, why isn’t one sufficient?

R. How can you keep one of them without the other, how can that be? We are speaking about connection between egoists and the will to receive does not disappear, it does not refine itself, it just goes on the correction on itself: restriction, screen and reflected light. That's why we must connect ourselves every time, in a more and more complex and unique way, internally.

S. I am trying to understand, we're always talking about the relationship, that everything is in relation between us. I'm trying to understand what is the difference between love, that I want to take his desire as mine, and the Arvut, what is the difference? Seemingly, they are all similar but they're not the same thing?

R. I do not understand again.

S.  I am saying we always work on the relationship between us. Love is that I want to take the others’ desire as my own, I want to love him. What is different about the Arvut?

R. Love is above Arvut, Arvut is a system, it’s the connection between us, that’s Arvut. The result of Arvut is love.

S. Alright, so the Arvut is in everything? In the ten, we can say we can be in Arvut on this and that, or it's a general atmosphere in the ten?

R. Arvut has to cover all, everyone. That we are responsible to everyone, everyone in one boat so how can you think otherwise?

S.  Because I see we sometimes come to places we're not all the friends can say “I'm in Arvut, hundred percent”. You feel like everyone wants to be there but it, seemingly, can't. So can we say we are in Arvut this aspect but not that aspect?

R. Practically, you're right, we are, like, in partial Arvut, each one for all, for a part of people, you’re right. But in Gmar Tikkun we will all be in a general, complete connection between us.

S. So Arvut is something we basically need to renew every day, every state?

R. Of course, every moment, according to the records that are revealed in every moment. It's not that you sign on something and you are done. It's not worth anything. Arvut is something you have to keep renewing, understand? Otherwise it disappears, it's like with love: if you want to be in love, every moment you have to ignite it as if it shut off, okay? Ask your wife and she shall teach you.

14. S. (29:58) How to put into the heart the feeling that you are responsible for the world or such an atmosphere that will be in the ten?

R. You will reach it, it's starting to be felt. We’re starting to feel it even though we want to run from it but along with that the responsibility for it is growing and we decide that we must be responsible for the whole world. That each one has to feel that I am responsible for the whole world. Because really what you can do in the Arvut and connection no one else can do it. Because if you are in a boat and you drill a hole in the side it won't help that everyone is in Arvut, but you must keep the Arvut. And to keep the Arvut you must always perform corrections in it because the records keep renewing themselves. Every time we need to combine them with the Arvut, and it is nothing that you can do once and then stop with it.

S. So every time I come to the morning lesson who am I responsible for/? What kind of Arvut towards who?

R. You are responsible for yourself that you won't let any foreign thought burst through into your group during the lesson.

15. S. (32:04)  Will the world be able to feel states of love of others to a small extent even before the final correction or only after all the evil unfolds can the love unfold?

R. In love there are parts, there is temporary love, unconditional love, there are all kinds of forms of love. That's why we need to understand in what form of love we exist.

16. S. (32:47) You said that after Arvut we’ll achieve love but how can you reach Arvut without  love first?

R. The Arvut we should reveal first, and afterwards we reach love. Without Arvut we can’t reach love. We need to keep the Arvut in order to keep the love.

17. S. (33:30) What is the self-test that a person in the ten do in order to see they advance towards Arvut and love?

R. That we are ready from our heart to be in one heart and our mind just has to help for this, and all the physical actions should support it. But the main thing is to be in in love. Love means that there is such a connection that each one is just incorporated in the other and is willing to do all the actions for the other.

18. S. (34:16) What is the role of my ten in shifting the whole world to the side of merit?

R. That I enter the ten and I work in a way that the whole ten will reach a state of love, one connection. From receiving the revelation of the Creator as one and the ten as one we will be able to bestow to everyone this unity, this connection. That is the role of Israel, and the whole world will gradually come closer to the knowledge and the feeling of the connection.

19. S. (35:25) Is Arvut the state of the corrected will to receive?

R. We can say that although it’s according to the system. But according to the content filling the system that’s love. Revelation of the whole complete Creator, that’s love. That’s why it’s written that you love the Lord your God and so on. Meaning that that is the main part. It’s the peak of the connection and correction.

20. S. (36:04) How does the love we develop between us in the ten radiate to the whole world?

R. Because we are connected with all of humanity through infinite connections. We are in an integral system like a sphere. Each one is connected to everyone and everyone to everyone. That's why what we determine between us influences all of the humanity. That's why we have to be careful. As it is written that when do we enter Egypt? When the argument starts between the sons, the disputes between the brothers, then we enter Egypt, and in order to come out of Egypt we need to already have a connection between us.

21. S. (37:13) Are the Israeli nation or the Bnei Baruch people in the world?

R. Yes. The world BB as today that is the nation that is aimed to the Creator. That is why they're called Israel, Yashar El. That they have to show the whole world how we all need to advance.

22. S. (37:42) How to overcome the fear to enter the Arvut for the whole world?

R. We are in it whether we want it or not. Just as much as we advance more, even if we don't understand and don’t feel it we’ll start revealing and feeling that we are really the part that helps the world advance to the general correction.

23. S. (38:12) What do you do if you discover that you are the one who prevents the cleansing of Israel, that all the corrections stop because of me?

R. Such a feeling has to come to each and every one because there is no light without darkness. That's why it has to be. So accept it, be patient about it. I am the worst part, the most disturbing, the most corrupted, there is nothing worse than me. It is a natural feeling that's specifically comes to a person who starts uplifting spiritually.

24. S. (39:03) What is the right intention in disseminating Kabbalah? To correct myself, I disseminate because I’m not corrected or correct the nations of the world?

R. I disseminate the knowledge of the Creator in the world, that’s it, that’s the main thing.
